Brooke Lajiness, a 38year-old married mother from Lima Township, Michigan, faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to intercourse and oral sex with two underage boys.
What Happened?
Lajiness is accused of 13 counts of sexual conduct against a 14 and 15-year-old boy in Lima Township. On Monday, she confessed to two counts of having intercourse with the 14-year-old and one of having oral sex with the 15-year-old.
Her sexual encounters with the teenagers are said to have taken place in the back seat of her car while parked in a driveway. Lajiness, who works as a beauty salon worker, is said to have seduced the younger boys by sending them nude selfies. She admitted to having sex with the younger boy as many as 15 times.
She was arrested after the boy’s mother notified authorities.
Lajiness, who has been married to her husband David for 16 years, also admitted one count each of accosting a child for immoral purposes and furnishing obscenity to children by sending nude photographs of herself to a minor.
The other charges will be dismissed as part of plea deal when she is sentenced in August, prosecutor John Vella said. Lajiness, who began having sex with the 14-year-old last summer, could be jailed for up to 19 years and three months.
In a Facebook post last month, Lajiness proclaimed her commitment and love for her husband.
“In life, nothing is guaranteed. So finding someone who knows all of your flaws, weaknesses and mistakes and still thinks you’re amazing is something to hold onto and never take for granted!”
The affair with the younger boy began as he was graduating middle school and entering high school. At her arraignment on March 3, Michigan State Trooper Donald Pasternak testified that he started investigating Lajiness a few weeks before, when the victim’s mother walked into a police station and complained that Lajiness was having sex with her son. Assistant Washtenaw County Prosecutor John Vella said last week that they are investigating whether there may be more victims.
“This case involves a defendant seeking out minors for sex,” Vella said, according to M Live.
Lajiness’ attorney, David I. Goldstein, said prosecutors need to focus on the case at hand, adding: “He keeps talking about ‘minors’, but there’s one.”
