On June 22, the best college and foreign basketball players around the world will gather in Brooklyn to hear their names called by Commissioner Adam Silver as they start the next chapter of their basketball careers in the NBA. These players will most likely be accompanied by their close family and are more than likely to be wearing some flashy suits.

Like most NBA drafts in the past, there is a tremendous amount of uncertainty regarding where specific players will be drafted as well as who can potentially trade their picks for superstar players. The Boston Celtics have the first pick in the draft via the Brooklyn Nets and are expected to take Guard Markelle Fultz from the University of Washington to help provide current Celtics’ guard Isaiah Thomas with some offensive support. Besides Fultz, there is no clear indication as to who will be selected from the second overall pick to the last pick in the draft which should result in a lot of drama.

One player who has made waves of noise leading up to the draft is UCLA Guard Lonzo Ball. However, the recent publicity surrounding Lonzo actually stems from his father Lavar Ball who has turned into a very polarizing figure in the sports world. Lavar has done several outrageous actions such as commenting about beating Michael Jordan in a game of basketball as well as requesting a billion dollar endorsement contract for his son despite Lonzo not even playing a game in the NBA yet. After refusing to work out for the Boston Celtics, the initial projections had the Los Angeles Lakers lead by Magic Johnson, their new president of basketball operations, selecting Ball with the second pick in the draft. However, after working out with the Lakers, Ball did not impress the Lakers’ staff and allegedly had an issue regarding his conditioning. With his unimpressive workout and his outspoken father, one would not be surprised if the Lakers decide to pass on Ball and select another guard like De’Aaron Fox from the University of Kentucky.

With this abnormally high level of uncertainty, this year’s draft should be highly entertaining and should be watched by every basketball fan in the country.
