Terrorist In Flint Airport Stabbing Named As 50-Year-Old Canadian Amor Ftouhi

Amor Ftouhi, a 50-year-old Canadian man who entered the country on June 16, has been identified as the attacker in a “possible act of terror” that took place in Flint, Michigan.

Ftouhi, who entered the country through the Quebec border, stabbed police officer Lieutenant Jeff Neville in the neck at Bishop International Airport. The attack in being investigated as an act of terror.

Furthermore, Ftouhi yelled “Allahu Akbar” before stabbing Neville multiple times, witnesses told NBC News. Ftouhi entered the United States on June 16 through New York.

His victim, Officer Jeff Neville, is currently in stable condition at the hospital.


Who Is Amor Ftouhi ?

Amor Ftouhi is a 50-year-old Canadian man who entered the country on June 16 responsible for the stabbing of Lt. Jeff Neville at the Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan. Ftouhi entered the United States on June 16 through New York.

Mohcin Asrii, a neighbor of Ftiouhi, says he was a ‘quiet, family guy’.

The FBI released a full statement on the terror attack the Bishop International:

This morning, law enforcement officers from a number of organizations, including the FBI’s office in Flint, Michigan, responded to Flint’s Bishop International Airport after receiving the report of a stabbing of an airport police officer who is presently considered to be in stable condition.

The suspect was taken into custody at the airport and is currently being questioned by law enforcement officers.

The FBI, with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, is jointly investigating this incident to determine the nature and motive for the attack. We are aware of reports that the attacker made statements immediately prior to or while attacking the officer, but it is too early to determine the nature of these alleged statements or whether or not this was an act of terrorism.

Based on the information that we have at this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident. We currently have no specific, credible information that there is a threat to the Flint community.


What Happened?

Amor Ftouhi stabbed Officer Neville several times after yelling “Allahu Akbar”.

Neville was at his post at the top of a set of escalators at the airport Wednesday morning when he was attacked from behind with a knife similar to a Bowie knife, WJRT reports. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but has improved to stable condition since coming out of surgery.

A witness at the airport told MLive that he saw the cop on his knees, bleeding form the neck.

“The cop was on his hands and knees bleeding from his neck,’ said Ken Brown. ‘I said they need to get him a towel.”

Brown also said that he saw a man being detained not far from a bloody knife on the ground.

A separate witness told Fox News that the attacker’s face was “totally blank” as he stabbed Neville.

Bishop International Airport was quickly evacuated as the FBI headed up the investigation into the incident. The agency released a brief statement saying:

“The FBI, with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners, is jointly investigating this incident to determine the nature and motive for the attack.

‘We are aware of reports that the attacker made statements immediately prior to or while attacking the officer, but it is too early to determine the nature of these alleged statements or whether or not this was an act of terrorism.”

Airport officials made several Facebook updates as the incident was unfolding.

The Flint City Hall is also operating under heightened security.

“Right now we are still awaiting more information about the situation at Bishop Airport this morning,’ Flint Mayor Karen Weaver said. ‘My thoughts and prayers are with all of our law enforcement officers who work to service and protect us each and every day. I want the public to know that several agencies are involved and working to ensure the situation is under control. However, at this time we are taking extra precautions just to be safe.”


Bishop International Airport

Bishop International Airport is a commercial and general aviation airport located in Flint, Michigan. It is named after banker and General Motors board member Arthur Giles Bishop, who donated 220 acres of his farmland for the airport in 1928.

The airport has 91 based aircraft and served 787,000 passengers last year.
