Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor are set to face off in a bout that will earn both of them hundreds of millions of dollars. But you know who else is banking off this fight? Ice Cube.
That’s right, the rapper/actor/producer/writer is going to make a solid profit off the August 26th fight at the T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas. How? Well, Cube has the venue booked that day for the finals of his Big 3 3-on-3 basketball league. That means he’s going to need a little, ahem, compensation for his troubles.
Being the savvy businessman that he is, Cube is more than willing to let Mayweather and McGregor have the arena that night, as long as he’s paid accordingly.
Via TMZ:
“Yes, of course,” Cube said when he was asked if he’d be willing to move the BIG3 title game somewhere else so that Mayweather and McGregor can fight. “If they do what they supposed to do and make us happy, yeah, we’ll move. We talking about it. I think we’re going to get there.”
Mayweather productions currently has a lock on the MGM Grand for August 26th, but his camp is itching for the bigger T-Mobile arena and they’re prepared to pay for it. Normally, a venue change of this magnitude can range anywhere in the six or seven figure territory. Obviously, we don’t have any inside information, but we’re pretty confident Ice Cube drives a hard bargain. After all, Cube was the only one in NWA who didn’t sign that bull shit contract.
