Lexington Teacher Charged With Sexually Assaulting 16-Year-Old Student

Lindsey Batna Jarvis, a former Fayette County school employee, has been charged with two counts of 3rd-degree rape after Lexington police accused her of having sex with a former student.

Jarvis faced a judge on Monday, June 19, in Lexington District Court where her attorney entered a plea of not guilty.

Similarly, a grand jury in Woodford County also handed down indictments against Jarvis just two days before she was arrested and charged in Lexington.

In Woodford County, Jarvis has been charged with one count of rape third degree, one count of sodomy third degree and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.

Police say the victim was younger than 16-years-old at the time of the incident.

A grand jury in Woodford County also handed down indictments against Lindsey Banta Jarvis two days before she was arrested and charged in Lexington. Jarvis is charged with one count of rape third degree, one count of sodomy third degree and one count of unlawful transaction with a minor.

According to both her arrest citation and indictment, police said the victim was less than 16 years old. Versailles Police say the victim is the same person in all counts.

The arrest report says the victim told police he had sexual intercourse with Jarvis and the report goes on to say the victim’s cell phone had correspondence that suggested the victim and suspect were in a romantic relationship.

According to the Woodford County Board of Education, Jarvis was a social studies teacher at Woodford County Middle School, beginning on August 12, 2013 through June 30, 2016, until she resigned. Jarvis’ indictment says she sodomized the victim in May 2016 and had sexual intercourse with the victim in June 2016.

Furthermore, in August 2016, Jarvis was hired as a teacher’s aide at Veterans Park Elementary School. According to Fayette County Public Schools Spokesperson Lisa Deffendall, Jarvis resigned last Friday.

She is scheduled to be arrainged on August 2.
