Top NBA Draft Prospect Josh Jackson Is Lobbing Grenades At Markelle Fultz

Today, the blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers centered around the No. 1 overall pick will be finalized. The skinny: Boston is shipping the top selection to Philly in return for this year’s No. 3 overall pick and a future first rounder in either 2018 (via the Lakers) or 2019 (via the Kings). The deal was made after the Sixers fell in love with top prospect Markelle Fultz from Washington University. Apparently there was a bit of a bidding war for the point guard, which may have left Kansas star Josh Jackson feeling left out.

Even though Jackson is projected to be taken off the board within the top three, he still threw some shade at Fultz in a now-deleted Tweet once the Celtics-Sixers deal was announced.

Jackson is of course referring to the fact that Fultz’s impressive college season came on a Washington University team that went just 9-22, finishing 11th in Pac-12 (2-16). Naturally, the Huskies failed to make the NCAA tournament. Having said that, it’s hard to argue against Fultz’s averages of 23 points, 6 assists and nearly 6 rebounds per game. Beyond the numbers, Fultz proved to be a legit threat playing both on and off the ball with the ability to knock down 3s (41%) and get into the paint almost at will. In other words, Fultz proved he’s going to be a baller in the NBA.

I get it, Jackson. You feel like you’re not getting your proper due as one of the top prospects in a loaded draft. But don’t worry, my man. As soon as the signing bonus hits your bank account, the pettiness will fall away.
