At the time of this writing, we are exactly 27 days away from the release of the seventh season of Game Of Thrones. For all of you who aren’t Rain Men like myself, 27 days means there is less than one f*cking month until Thrones comes back.
After Ramsay Bolton was wiped out in the penultimate episode of season 6, the show was in need of a new (human) threat. That’s where Euron Greyjoy came in.
Euron, the uncle of Yara and Theon Greyjoy, killed Baylon and quickly became King of the Ironborn. His plan was to kill Yara and Theon and align himself with Daenerys Targaryen, however, Yara and Theon beat him to the punch, thus making Euron the new enemy.
And apparently not just any old enemy, either.
Speaking to Empire Magazine for the July issue, Pilou Asbæk, the actor who plays Euron, talked a big game about the direction of his character:
“The psychos I’ve encountered have so many different sides to them. So each scene I’ve done with Euron, I pick a new thing I wanna show. ‘This scene I want to be charming.’ ‘This scene I wanna be a molester.’ ‘This scene I wanna kill someone.’ After this season, Ramsay’s gonna look like a little kid.”
Ramsay was arguably the most vile (human) villain the show has ever had, so that’s a bold claim to say the least. However, Thrones has consistently upped the ante for every one of their seasons, so it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if Euron turned out to be the biggest and baddest bad guy yet.
Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on HBO on Sunday, July 16 at 9 PM EST.
