Evonne Mick and David Salinas, a Texas couple, were arrested on Monday, June 12, after police said they discovered nearly $1million worth of meth-laced lollipops during a raid.

Harris County police were responding to a call about a burglary near Houston when they caught Mick and Salinas leaving the residence and loading a vehicle with drug-laced candy.

Police say the suspects were attempting to load so much of the candy that they couldn’t even close the car door because drugs were so tightly packed.

Investigators said they found bags of the drugs loaded into the back seat of the vehicle. Deputies said the suspects couldn’t even close the door because there were so many drugs packed into the vehicle.

Investigators believe a great deal of meth is being distributed on the streets of Harris County in the form of candy.

Deputies said the seizure happened near a school and fear these drugs are targeted towards children. Deputies said the lollipops had several designs like “Batman,” Yoda from “Star Wars,” and there were a butterfly- and flower-shaped candies.

According to authorities, each lollipop could be sold from $20 to $40 depending on the size.

Despite the seizure, police say they believe a huge amount of methamphetamine-laced candy is still being sold on the streets of Harris County. They also said the arrests and seizure happened nearby to a school, prompting fear that the drugs are targeted at children.

Authorities believe there are more possible suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
