A witness outside the Alexandria, Virginia ballpark where five people were shot Wednesday captured dramatic video of the attack on his cell phone.
James T. Hodgkinson, a 66-year-old Illinois man, was the man responsible for the shooting at the Congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, that left House Majority whip Steve Scalise and others injured.
Hodkinson was shot by Capitol Police and later died from his injuries.
Hodgkinson fired dozens of shots from the third base dugout at Eugene Simpson Stadium Park in Alexandria, Virginia, as the group was at batting practice around 7:00 A.M. EST. Hodgkinson began firing after asking the group if they were “Democrats or Republicans.”
Scalise, a congressional staffer for Texas Rep. Roger Williams and two Capitol Police officers were shot.

According to Hodgkinson’s Facebook page, he is a Belleville, Illinois native and owns a company, JTH Inspections, also called JTH Construction, and studied at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
He went to Belleville Township High School and also studied flight training at Southwestern Illinois College.
