The Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals over the Cleveland Cavaliers with their 129-120 victory in game five. This championship is their second in three years and caps a nearly undefeated run in the postseason. Like all other champions, the Warriors will celebrate with a parade in front of their fans.
The parade will serve as redemption from last year’s blown 3-1 lead as well as Kevin Durant’s first championship parade. Durant made headlines last offseason as he decided to join the Warriors as a free agent in search of his first ring. He now has that ring, and now will also have his parade.
The 2015 parade celebrated the Warriors’ first championship in 40 years. While the 2017 parade will not be celebrating the end of a drought, it will celebrate the beginning of the Kevin Durant era in Oakland. This could be the first of multiple consecutive parades as the Warriors continue to be the Goliath of the league that every team is trying to chase down.
