Aaron Judge Net Worth 2017: How Much Is NY Yankee Worth Right Now

0

Aaron Judge currently leads the MLB in home runs despite the fact that the New York Yankess slugger is just 25-years-old. To put that in perspective, he’s a current MVP candidate at 25 and I’m writing this article at 25. Life is unfair.

But given that Judge has appeared in just 85 total games as a pro, it’s fair to wonder if he’s raking in big bucks yet. Are you curious what the guy is worth, cause we sure are.

Aaron Judge’s Net Worth as of 2017: $2 Million

When you think of baseball’s biggest stars, a $2 million net worth seems pretty paltry by comparison. But Judge is just at the start of his career and hundreds of millions of dollars are his fingertips.

Judge, a right-handed outfielder, was a three sport stud at Linden high School in Linden, California. In 2010, he was selected in the 31st round of the MLB draft by the Oakland Athletics but instead chose to pursue baseball at Fresno State. That proved to be the right call.

In three seasons at Fresno State, Judge posted a .345 batting average while hitting 18 home runs, 93 RBIs and posting a slugging percentage of .526. He even won the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby. Basically, the dude raked and in 2013 was drafted No. 32 overall by the New York Yankees.

He signed a $1.8 million bonus with the Yankees upon agreeing to terms on his rookie contract.

2016 – 2017

In 2016, Judge signed a one-year deal worth $544,500 (fully guaranteed). That same year, he made his MLB debut, though it was not anything like what we’re seeing now.

In 27 games (84 at bats) last year, Judge managed a measly .179 batting average with four home runs, 10 RBIs and an alarming 42 strikeouts. While many in the Yankees organization still believes in his potential and raw physical gifts, the hype surrounding the young prospect severely diminished that year. The 25-year-old would have to prove himself again if he wanted that big contract every major leaguer dreams of.

Judge will once again earn $544,500 this season (the league minimum is $530,000). This is slightly higher than New York’s typical pay scale for pre-arbitration-eligible players (roughly $100 per plate appearance or $539,500).

Judge is under team control through 2022, but will be ridiculously more expensive when contract talks heat up again. As of June 12, Judge is leading the American League in batting average (.344), home runs (21) and RBIs (47).
