Empire Magazine recently ran a poll of 20,000 (!) readers asking them what the greatest movie of all-time was. Can you guess which movie notched the top spot?

Franci Ford Coppola’s gangster epic The Godfather was ranked No. 1 overall (who can resist carnage and cannolis?). Following was George Lucas’ The Empire Strikes Back, Christopher Nolan’s The Dark KnightThe Shawshank Redemption and Pulp FictionLa La Land, starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone and released just six months ago, snuck in at 62 on the Top 100 list.

The Godfather II, which some argue tops its predecessor, came in at No. 12 while other classics such as CasablancaOne Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Some Like It Hot are also scattered throughout the list.

If someone wants to pay me to watch all 100 movies in a row, I wouldn’t be opposed.

Empire’s Editor-in-Chief Terri White said: “It’s fantastic to see The Godfather continue to elicit such affection from movie lovers.

“In addition to such perennial favorites such as Star Wars and The Shawshank Redemption, it’s also encouraging to see a number of recent releases have already found a place among cinemagoers’ most cherished films.”

The full Top 10: The Godfather; The Empire Strikes Back; The Dark Knight; The Shawshank Redemption; Pulp Fiction; Goodfellas; Raiders of the Lost Ark; Jaws; Star Wars; and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Count me in the minority as someone who thinks the Lord of the Rings trilogy, while great, is vastly overrated. I mean, The Fellowship in the top 10? Please.
