Authorities say that eight people have been slain in Mississippi, including a sheriff’s deputy. Cory Godbolt has been taken into custody and is currently the prime suspect in the shooting.
According to the Daily Ledger, a Lincoln County deputy was sent to a residence on Lee Drive in Bogue Chitto to hear the pleas of a resident who wished that the suspect Godbolt would leave the property. When the officer arrived at the home, that’s when the shooting occurred which resulted in the death of four people.
Goldbolt fled police after the shooting. He allegedly killed the victims at three different residences in the area, leaving his mark of death on Lincoln County. One home is in Bogue Chitto, while the two other homes are in Brookhaven. The suspect told The Clarion-Ledger that he “did it” because of the love he has for his wife, children, and Bogue Chitto.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain said that charges have still not been filed against the suspect. Strain also suggested that it would be “premature” to talk about the motive.
