I should have titled this article ‘World’s Most Obvious Study Declares That Drugs From The Earth Are Safer Than Man Made Drugs’.
It’s kind of obvious when you think about it — LCD is literally made in a lab, cocaine and molly are laced with all sorts of dangerous shit, and then when you get to the real heavy hitters like meth and heroine, you know you’re flirting with death.
So yeah, obviously shrooms and marijuana are safer than LSD, MDMA, cocaine, and all of the rest of the world’s narcotics. Sure, it may get you more f*cked up than cocaine, but safety and sobriety are too different topics.
According to to this year’s Global Drug Survey, magic mushrooms are the safest recreational drug to take. In the study, of the more than 12,000 people who reported taking psilocybin hallucinogenic mushrooms in 2016, just 0.2% of them said they needed emergency medical treatment – a rate at least five times lower than that for MDMA, LSD and cocaine.
via Daily Mail:
This is around five times lower than that for the more popular party drugs MDMA, LSD and cocaine, it is believed. The findings come from the 2017 edition of the Global Drug Survey, regarded as the world’s most in-depth drug report. More than 120,000 people across 50 countries were quizzed.
Dr Adam Winstock, founder of the study, told The Guardian: ‘Magic mushrooms are one of the safest drugs in the world.’ He insisted the biggest risk for people wanting to consume psychedelic mushrooms was from picking and eating the wrong ones. Dr Winstock added: ‘Death from toxicity is almost unheard of with poisoning with more dangerous fungi being a much greater risk in terms of serious harms.’
Only 0.2 per cent of the 12,000 people who said they had taken mushrooms in the past year reported needing hospital treatment.
So there you have it folks, straight from the mouth of science — if you’re going to do drugs, trip shrooms.
