What Happened?

A 7-year-old boy was shot in his classroom, Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said.

“The incident was isolated to this particular classroom and no other children are in danger,” Myers said.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board has sent notifications to parents at Moss Bluff Elementary assuring no students are in danger.

The Faceboook group Citizens of Moss Bluff: Be Informed is say that the shooting has to do with a child who brought a gun to school. They say it was likely dropped, and the gun fired.

The child was taken to a Lafayette Hospital, but there is no other information at this time as to the extent of the child’s injuries.
