Kyrie Irving jumped on to the NBA scene in 2011 after being drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers and has never looked back. He is now regarded as one of the best point guards in the league and is the second-most important play behind LeBron James on the Cavs.

From facilitating his team’s offense to hitting the game winning shot of the NBA Finals, Irving doesn’t shy away from the limelight. James may get the majority the attention in Cleveland, but Irving is well deserving of praise as well. Now he’s just coasting through the playoffs, and making absolute bank doing it.

With that let’s take a look at Irving’s bottom line.

Kyrie Irving’s Net Worth as of 2017: $27.6 Million

Yes, he’s just that good and now he has the money to back it up.

Irving was a star high-school basketball player in New Jersey and was one of the top recruits in the nation. In 2009, he committed to play for the Duke Blue Devils. Irving played the 2010-11 season for Duke, and was one of the top players in the nation.

Though he suffered a severe ligament injury mid-way through the season and did not return until the NCAA Tournament, he still helped Duke to the Sweet Sixteen before losing to Arizona. Irving subsequently declared for the 2011 NBA Draft and was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers first overall.

Irving’s rookie contract was a two year deal with team options for the third and fourth years. The deal was worth $21.9 million.

Despite the struggles of the Cavs, Irving had a fantastic rookie season where he was named the 2012 NBA Rookie of the Year. He averaged 18.5 points and 5.4 assists. In his second season Irving became the youngest player to score 40 points at Madison Square Garden.

Over the next two seasons, Irving made his first and second appearances in the All-Star game. He made his mark early and was named the All-Star MVP in his second game.

After a great start to his NBA career, Irving cashed in with the Cavaliers. In the summer of 2014, he signed a five-year, $90 million extension. The extension will keep Irving in Cleveland until 2020. This was in the wake of LeBron James deciding to make his return to Cleveland, as well as the addition of Kevin Love.

The team became a powerhouse and Irving continued his stellar play. On March 12, 2015 he scored a career high 57 points to take down the Spurs. Irving helped lead the team to the 2015 NBA Finals, where the Cavaliers fell to Golden State Warriors in six games.

In 2016, Irving won his first NBA championship and was pivotal in the team coming back from a 3-1 deficit against the Warriors. In Game 7 of the Finals, Irving hit, what would be, the game-winning three-pointer. He also played for Team USA in the 2016 Olympics and won a gold medal.
