After a shootout with police in South Boston, authorities uncovered a disturbing double homicide. The bodies of Dr. Richard Field and his fiancée Dr. Lina Bolanos were found in the apartment of Bampumim Teixeira. They were bound by the wrist, with their throats slit. A letter of retribution was written on the wall.
Bampumim Teixeira was transferred to a local hospital immediately after the incident. He had been shot by police, but his injuries are not life-threatening. He is a former bank robber, now accused of double homicide.
Field and Bolanos were brutally murdered. Authorities are putting together the puzzle pieces on what exactly happened in the Macallen Building.
What Happened?
Police were responding to a tip about a man with a gun on 141 Dorchester Avenue in the Macallen Building. It was just after 8 P.M. on a Friday night. When police confronted Teixeria, he reportedly fired his gun at the officers. Teixeria was only able to let out one shot, according to police.
No officers were shot, but some went to the hospital to treat minor injuries. However, Bampumim was shot and was transported to a Boston area hospital to treat his injuries.
A SWAT team found two dead bodies inside Tiexeira’s apartment; a man and a woman. Both were found in the 11th floor condominium. Each victim lived in the building. Authorities believe that Tiexeria and the victims knew each other.
“This individual had just killed two people,” said Boston Police Commissioner William Evans. “He had nothing to lose.”
The victims have been identified as Dr. Richard Field, and his fiancée, Dr. Lina Bolanos. On Friday night, in an act of desperation and fear, Dr. Field sent a text message to a friend, pleading for help. Both victims were found with their throats slit. They were bound by the hands, and blood was on the walls. According to one official, the killer had written a letter of retribution on the walls.
Bampumin Teixeira’s former girlfriend describes him as a former security guard, who had just completed a nine month sentence for robbing two banks.
