LaVar Ball, the father of top NBA prospect and UCLA star Lonzo Ball, is an unabashed mad man in the media. He also maybe a genius. There’s no denying that his bold talk and headline-worthy antics have attracted more attention to the Ball family and their Big Baller Brand. But for all of Ball’s bombastic bluster, how much is the guy actually worth?

1995

In 1995, Ball signed with the NFL’s New York Jets as a tight end. Almost immediately, he was loaned to the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football (WLAF). In the 1995 season for the Monarchs, Ball recorded 28 years in kick returns. During his NFL career, Ball also spent time on the practice squads of the Jets and Carolina Panthers.
In 1995, the average NFL player salary was $584,000 per year with the median salary coming in at $301,000.
2017

LaVar’s son Lonzo is expected to be taken with a top two pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Lonzo’s two younger brothers have also already committed to UCLA. As a result, LaVar is building out the family’s Big Baller Brand. LaVar told USA Today that he is seeking a $1 billion show deal for the three.
“A billion dollars, it has to be there,” he said. “That’s our number, a billion, straight out of the gate. And you don’t even have to give it to me all up front. Give us $100 mil over 10 years.”
Heading into the NBA Draft, LaVar’s attempts to rope Nike, Adidas or Under Armour into such a deal have not worked out. However, that hasn’t deterred LaVar.

Yahoo! Sports’ The Vertical reported that Big Baller Brand was seeking a $200 sale price for Lonzo’s debut sneaker.
