The biggest story in the sporting world this week hasn’t been the NHL playoffs or the NBA playoffs. It hasn’t been Noah Syndergaard tearing his f*cking lat off of his body (my Mets are killing me). It hasn’t even been that Lebron and the Cavs yet again look like the best team in the NBA again.

No, the story of the week has been the chaos that’s been the Red Sox-Orioles series.

From ejections to behind the back pitches, brawls to suspensions, this week’s Boston and Baltimore series has really shown the ugly side of baseball.

And I haven’t even gotten to the worst part.  After Monday night’s game in Boston, Jones said he was the subject of racism:

“A disrespectful fan threw a bag of peanuts at me,’’ Jones said, “I was called the N-word a handful of times tonight. Thanks. Pretty awesome.’’

“It’s unfortunate. The best thing about myself is that I continue to move on, and still play the game hard. Let people be who they are. Let them show their true colors.’’

The next night, the Boston crowd did their best to make it up to Jones with a standing ovation, yet the damage was already, as the conversation about racism in sports has been rightfully revived once again.

So whenever sports and society merge like they have been this week, you know reporters are going to ask all the biggest stars in all the biggest sports their opinion of it. Especially Lebron James.

After the Cavs’ Game 2 win over Toronto, one of the questions LeBron was asked concerned the Baltimore Orioles’ Adam Jones and the racist behavior he recently encountered in Boston. To his credit, Lebron gave an eloquent, insightful, and thoughtful monolog on the matter that is definitely worth the listen.
