Police responded to a shooting reported at Tropical Park Wednesday evening.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that one person was shot. One person was detained and later arrested at the scene, Miami-Dade police said.
What Happened?
An SUC parked nearby was riddled with bullets as one person at Tropical Park in Southwest Miami Dade was shot. One person was been detained at the scene and then arrested, according to Miami-Dade police.
According to NBC, the victim suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Two police helicopters are circling the scene above as detectives investigate the area. The shooting took place at about 9:00 P.M.
The victim was woman who was with her husband at Tropical park when they reportedly got into an argument with another man over a parking spot. The other man then went to his car to retrieve a firearm. He then went behind a tree and fired shots toward the other man, striking his wife in the vehicle, according to police.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the victim to Kendall Regional Hospital in stable condition, officials said.
Police arrested the suspect, and are now looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the shooting.
Tropical Park
Tropical Park is a 275-acre urban park in metropolitan Miami, Florida. The park is located just southwest of the intersection of the Palmetto Expressway and Bird Road, just west of South Miami.
It was opened as a county public park in 1979 on the grounds of the former Tropical Park Race Track. The park includes a handful of facilities including: boxing center, fields for football, soccer and softball as well as basketball, volley ball and tennis courts. It also has an equestrian center, a stadium and a Christmas-themed forest.
