Nets vs Celtics Live Stream: Watch NBA Games Online

The Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets go head-to-head in the nightcap of a Wednesday night doubleheader inside of the NBA bubble at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. Appropriately enough, the game will be aired live on ESPN.

The Nets are coming off of back-to-back wins over the top-seed Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards as they make a push for the final spot in the Eastern Conference, so they will be looking to keep the momentum going against Boston in a key matchup.

“I totally do believe in momentum and the momentum of keeping your spirit in check,” said Nets coach Jacque Vaughn, via ESPN.com. “We talked about as a group the symbolism of bamboo, being extremely resilient and extremely flexible and adaptable. Tonight was another example; we had to be all of those three things with the different lineup. So overall, that concept has stayed with us, and I hope it continues.”

Brooklyn leads the season series, 2-1.

How can you tune into tonight’s game?

Instagram Battles Tik Tok With New ‘Reels’ App

0
0

Instagram launches a new feature titled ‘Reels’ and it’s strikingly similar to Tik Tok. This new feature will give users the option to make short music-based videos and upload them directly to Instagram. Reels is available now in 50 countries including the US, the UK, India, Brazil and Japan.

The timing of this release is anything but coincidental. With President Trump threatening to ban Tik Tok in the U.S., Reels might take over as the new viral video app.

This isn’t the first time Facebook (who owns Instagram) has tried to copy Tik Tok. An app called ‘Lasso’ was released back in 2018 and survived two years before being pulled. Their first attempt at rivaling Tik Tok was noticeably weak; the app pulled hardly anyone in during its short run. However, Facebook is confident that Reels will achieve what Lasso failed to accomplish. Instagram is banking on the fact that most people already use Instagram. Reels will be 100% integrated into the app itself, meaning users can make reels straight from Instagram.

Instagram spent years copying Snapchat until they finally got it right; Instagram Stories are now a huge success. It’s clear that Facebook is willing to try over and over again until they succeed.

Now that they have their sights on Tik Tok, it could be only a matter of time before Instagram wins. Tik Tok has issued no statement regarding Reels so far.

Hailey Pardy: Texas Teacher Busted For Having Sex With 15-Year-Old Student

Hailey Pardy, a 25-year-old former math teacher at Bastrop High School in Texas, was busted for having sex with a 15-year-old student. According to the Austin American-Statesman, Pardy was arrested and charged for an incident that took place in December 2018 just months after she began her job.

Pardy faces a second-degree felony charge of having an improper relationship with a student.

After learning of the incident nine months later, the school district placed Pardy on paid administrative leave before she was ultimately fired.

“The action of this teacher does not represent the more than 1,300 caring, dedicated and talented educators who make up Bastrop ISD,” district spokesman Kristi Lee said of the incident. “The foundation of the teacher-student relationship is one of trust, and when that trust is violated, it angers and saddens us.”

If convicted on the charge, Pardy could face up to 20 years in prison.

Over the course of the past year alone, a handful of teachers have been arrested on similar charges, including 25-year-old substitute teacher Alexis Mercedes Boberg in Baltimore, Beulah High School teacher Kelsie Schmidt in North Dakota, Rancocas Valley Regional High School teacher Alexandra Reiner in New Jersey, and 50-year-old Florida substitute teacher Angela Jean Stanton in Florida. Additionally, Texas teachers Meredith Null and Edna Longoria were arrested on similar charges.

As for why the number of these incidents has seemingly increased, studies suggest that smartphones are the primary reason for the spike in illicit relationships, as it allows teachers to communicate with the minors without supervision.

According to a report from the Texas Education Association, smartphones make easy for teachers to privately text and talk with students and also make it possible for teachers and students to share explicit images.

LA Mayor to Shutoff Utilities of Residents Who Host Illegal House Parties

0
0

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, people are continuing to throw huge house parties — with notable ones popping up in Los Angeles, California. And for the city’s mayor, that isn’t going to slide.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti is set to punish those who are holding illegal house parties by the pandemic by authorizing the Department of Water and Power to shut off utilities at the homes of those hosting large gatherings, according to Deadline.

“While we have already closed all bars and nightclubs, these large house parties have essentially become nightclubs in the hills,” Garcetti said.

“We will not act lightly, but we will act. You’re breaking the law. Just as we can shut down bars breaking alcohol laws, in places that are in criminal violations, we can shut them down … We can actually do the power or water shutoff after a first violation, but we like to educate, not enforce.”

The guidelines and laws have been put in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19 after cases began to rise.

Properly practicing social distancing and wearing a mask or face-covering has proven to slow the spread of the virus, so Garcetti is doing what he can to make sure cases once again drop and Los Angeles residents can go back to life as normal as quickly as possible.

The coronavirus mainly comes from animals and a majority of those who were infected early either worked at or frequently visited the Huanan seafood wholesale market in Wuhan, according to The Guardian. The virus is similar to Severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) and Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome (Mers).

The Wuhan coronavirus is transmitted from person to person through “droplet transmission.” That means an infected person can pass the virus by sneezing or coughing on another person as well as by direct contact.

While a majority of the cases have been detected in the United States and China — with more than 4.85 million confirmed cases and 159,000 deaths in the United States — it has now reached many countries around the world. It has also been confirmed in Italy, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and many other eastern countries.

56 NFL Players Tested Positive COVID-19 Since Start of Training Camp

Players in the National Football League reported to training camp a week ago and the NFL Players Association has announced how many have positive for COVID-19 since the start of camp with the opt-out deadline looming.

According to Pro Football Talk, the NFLPA has announced 56 players have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

While the preferred number would be zero, 56 players is only around 2 percent of players that are currently on the roster of an NFL team. It will be interesting to see whether those numbers can stay low once full-contact practices and games begin.

As for the players who have concerns about the virus, they have until 4:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 6 to opt-out of the season. Any player drafted in 2020 or who earned a credited season in 2019 that voluntarily opts out will receive $150,000 salary and their salary will move to the next season. Players who are considered high-risk will receive a $350,000 stipend if they choose to opt-out. All players will continue to have health insurance.

The league will also provide alternate housing for players who live with high-risk individuals that will be played for by the team if a request is made before Week 1 of the regular season.

The coronavirus outbreak has led to the cancellation or postponing of many large events including the NCAA Tournament, Coachella, SXSW, the Winter X Games, Stagecoach, Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and more. The NBA, NHL, and MLS temporarily suspended their seasons.

Migos Rapper Takeoff Denies Rape Allegations

0
0

Migos rapper Takeoff, born Kirshnik Khari Ball, is adamantly denying allegations that he raped a woman at a June 23 house party. The allegations were made in a civil lawsuit that was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

According to the allegations, the Migos rapper tried to make advances towards the woman but she denied them. After the two passed each other in a stairwell later in the night, Takeoff allegedly followed her into a bedroom and began touching her body. Eventually, the woman alleges, Takeoff formed her face-down onto the bed and raped her from behind.

The woman then alleges she went to the local hospital where the hospital staff observed physical evidence of forceful rape.

After the allegations became public knowledge, Takeoff’s attorney, Drew Findling, released a statement to TMZ stating that the claims against the rapper were false.

“We have reviewed the allegations and have similarly done our own due diligence,” the statement said. “What has become abundantly clear is that the allegations made against Takeoff are patently and provably false. The claims and statements made regarding this lawsuit indicate that the plaintiffs’ representatives have not spoken with relevant witnesses or reviewed available evidence.

“Takeoff is renowned for his artistic talent as well as his quiet, reserved and peaceful personality. In this instance, those known personality traits have made him a target of an obvious exploitative money grab. As his counsel, we are well aware and well versed on the importance of civil and criminal prosecution of true sexual assaults. This is not one of those situations.”

The woman, who is identified in the lawsuit as simply Jane Doe, is suing Takeoff for sexual battery, assault, emotional distress, and other damages.

Top 10 Best Parks and Recreation Episodes

0
0

Parks and Recreation is one of the best sitcoms to air in recent years. While it initially came across as a clone of The Office, the show later grew into a hilarious and unique comedy that soon established a cult following. With that introduction out of the way, here are the Top 10 Best Episodes of Parks and Recreation.

10. Telethon

In this episode, Leslie hosts a charity telethon, and because it only runs early in the morning, everyone struggles to stay awake. To pass the time, Leslie gets high on sugar, April flirts with guys on the phone, and Ron naps while engaging in sleep-fighting. Leslie eventually gets desperate and tries to get Mark to propose to Ann on-camera, but her plans quickly fall apart, and her way of fixing it is entirely out of left field. We also see some eccentric performances courtesy of the telethon, including a cameo by former NBA player Detlef Schrempf.

9. Hunting Trip

Leslie and the ladies join the guys on their hunting trip to Ron’s cabin, and a battle of the sexes begins. The trip takes a turn for the worst when Ron gets shot in the head, and chaos ensues. Seeing the cast freak out as they try to keep things under control, specifically when they try to get Ron to “purge himself” of alcohol, is pure hilarity. We also get to see the budding romance between Andy and April as they watch over the Parks office.

8. End of the World

Hail Zorp! When a local doomsday cult hosts an end of the world party in the park, the gang joins them in celebrating the obviously false apocalypse. Each of them does so in many different ways as they ponder what they would do if the end were at hand. Even Tom hosts a massive blowout as his company goes out of business. The episode is capped off with an uplifting ending as everyone seizes life by the throat and enjoy their fake-last day on earth.

7. The Debate

Leslie takes part in the debate for a spot on the city council, and the show gets even more political. Aside from Leslie, the candidates spout nonsense, which couldn’t be a more apt parody of our election system. The episode features many of the show’s quirky and ridiculous side-characters, elevating the political satire even higher. Paul Rudd’s performance as the dim-witted Bobby Newport is especially funny, and even though he’s an antagonist in this season, you can’t help but love him. You also gotta love Andy’s reenactment of Road House and Rambo.

6. Harvest Festival

The Pawnee Harvest Festival was a highlight of Season 3, and the episode delivered an instant classic. It starts off by introducing an icon of the show, Li’l Sebastian, an adorable mini horse that everyone (except Ben) loves like crazy. The festival is later threatened when Li’l Sebastian disappears, and the media fixates on a supposed Indian curse. The episode cleverly displays the hilarious absurdity of Pawnee’s citizens while providing a memorably satisfying ending to one of the best arcs in the show.

5. Leslie and Ron

Season 7 may not have been as good as the other six, but this episode really stood out. As a form of extreme therapy, Leslie and Ron are locked in the Parks office by their friends to get them to stop arguing. Not only do we find out why the two of them hated each other for three years, but the episode also analyzes why they were friends in the first place. “Leslie and Ron” shows how two characters who have countless reasons to hate each other can still be the best of friends, and by the end of the episode, their bond is stronger than ever.

4. Ron and Tammy

When the local library threatens Leslie’s plans for a park, Ron is forced to confront his ex-wife Tammy, played by Nick Offerman’s actual wife, Megan Mullally. The explosive chemistry between Ron and Tammy results in some of the show’s most unforgettably funny moments. The episode also breaks Ron down in the face of his nemesis, and how Leslie tries to put him back together is a prime example of why the two are such good friends.

3. Flu Season

When Pawnee is struck with a flu outbreak, Leslie scrambles to keep things under control. April and Chris are among those hospitalized, and the results are just too funny. Chris’s hallucinatory hijinks shine the brightest, as we get to see the upbeat athlete break down from the flu. Meanwhile, Andy is hired by Ron to fill in for April, and two really hit it off. The father/son dynamic between the two is hilariously adorable, bringing out the best traits of each character. At the same time, Ben’s bond with Leslie grows throughout this episode as he tries to deal with her as she’s high on flu meds. This is how romance starts in Pawnee, kids.

2. The Comeback Kid

In this classic episode, Leslie begins her run for city councilwoman, but without Ben’s help, things quickly fall apart. Each member of Leslie’s crew flops in their various tasks, which all culminates in the hilariously drawn-out nightmare that is the ice rink scene. Watching the cast struggle to get to the podium to the tune of “Get Off Your Feet” is one of the show’s funniest moments. At the same time, seeing Ben go insane with boredom in the episode’s B-plot is just as entertaining.

1. The Fight

After Leslie gets Ann an interview for a job at City Hall, the two of them get into a fight at Tom’s new nightclub. It is there that the majority of the cast gets drunk on Tom’s new beverage, Snake Juice. They’re all at their funniest when they’re hammered, and that montage of them all drunkenly babbling to the camera is comedy gold, especially when Ron gets funky. The episode is also a well-done character study on Leslie and Ann, whose friendship is the very foundation of the show itself. And so, due to its laughs and heartwarming moments, The Fight stands as the best episode of Parks and Recreation.

Here’s How Much TikTok Star Addison Rae Makes in a Year

0
0

Social media influencers have always found ways to generate absurd amounts of money on platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. But recently, TikTok has been the hotbed for rising stars and none are bigger than Addison Rae.

Rae has a whopping 54 million followers on TikTok — and 24.9 million on Instagram — and she has been able to rake in the cash from the video platform.

According to Forbes, Rae topped all TikTok stars in earnings over the past 12 months which ended in June 2020. So just how much did Addison Rae make? According to the numbers, Addison earned a whopping $5 million from TikTok. That’s some cold, hard cash.

To get their estimated earnings, Forbes states it “talked to the influencers themselves, agents, managers, marketers, and investors.”

Not too shabby, Addison. Who would have thought you could make so much money off of 15-second video clips?

Other top TikTok earners are:

1: Addison Rae – $5 million
2: Charli D’Amelio – $4 million
3: Dixie D’Amelio – $2.9 million
4: Loren Gray – $2.4 million
5: Josh Richards – $1.5 million
6 (tie): Michael Le – $1.2 million
6 (tie): Spencer X – $1.2 million

Now we know why these people are earning while they can as the government considers banning the app in the United States. But even if that were to happen, it’s safe to say Addison and the other top TikTok stars will be just fine.

Penn State Football Star Micah Parsons Opts Out of 2020 Season

Penn State football star Micah Parsons, one of the top players in all of college football, has decided to opt-out of the coronavirus pandemic-altered 2020 season to focus on the 2021 NFL Draft where he is a projected top five.

After speculation about whether he would suit up for the Nittany Lions or choose to opt-out, he announced his decision in a video on social media.

“I’d like to begin by saying thank you,” Parsons said. “You’ve given me an opportunity of a lifetime to achieve my dreams and aspirations. I have made connections with my teammates that will last a lifetime. For that, I will forever be grateful.

“Nittany Nation took a chance and welcomed a kid from Harrisburg with open arms, stood by me and supported me. Without Coach (James) Franklin and Coach (Brent) Pry, as well as the entire Penn State coaching staff, I would not be where I am today. You all allowed me to grow into the young man I have always wanted to be. Before arriving on campus, I was only a kid from Harrisburg with a dream. My dream was to receive a degree from a prestigious institution and prepare for the opportunity to play at the highest level — the NFL. My opportunity has finally arrived.”

Parsons was the 2019 Big Ten Linebacker of the Year and will finish his college career as the 2019 Cotton Bowl MVP in his final game at Penn State.

Now, he will look to continue his success in the pros.
