A California murder suspect is expected to be released today, after raising an incredible amount of money to post bail. Tiffany Li was able to raise over $60 million from wealthy friends, family, and business associates in China.

What Happened?

The 31-year-old Hillsborough resident is accused of orchestrating the murder of 27-year-old Keith Green. She is accused of ordering her boyfriend and another man to kill Green and dispose of his body.

Li has pleaded not guilty. The victim is her former boyfriend and the father of her two children.

Her bail was set at $35 million, which is the highest amount for bail in San Mateo County history.

You think $35 million sounds like a lot? Well, Tiffany was able to raise even more money behind bars. Many wealthy people, tied to Li’s mother, raised $4 million in cash and pledged $61 million in San Francisco Bay property.

According to California law, courts require twice the amount of money if a property is used to post bail. This explains why she ended up paying even more than the record-setting amount.

Li’s mother achieved tremendous financial success in China’s construction industry, which explains how Tiffany was able to raise so much money.

San Mateo District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe is concerned that Li may flee when she’s released. His office originally requested her bail be set at $100 million. “If convicted she faces the rest of her life in prison,” Wagstaffe said. “That’s plenty enough incentive to flee back to her native China.”

Tiffany was arrested in May 2017. Police apprehended Ms. Li in her multi-million dollar home in Hillsborough, where she lived with her children.

The two male suspects remain behind bars and have not requested bail. They are not in the financial situation of Tiffany Li, as they are unable to raise millions of dollars to post bail.

When released, Tiffany must turn over her passports, wear an electronic monitor, and remain under house arrest. Her attorney George Carr noted that the people who donated money for Li’s bail believe that the 31-year-old suspect is innocent and will not flee.

Li’s jury trial date is set for September. If Tiffany does escape the country, the court is likely to confiscate all property and cash used to post bail.

Charleston police have issued warrants for two former College of Charleston fraternity brothers. The warrants stem from new charges related to the alleged rape of a minor at a frat party back in August of 2016.

James West III, 22, and Timothy Seppi, 22, are the two former fraternity brothers who face the charges.

West faces charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. If convicted, West faces a maximum sentence of 10 years.

Seppi, on the other hand, faces a charge of second-degree assault and battery, which a misdemeanor. If convicted, Seppi faces up to three years in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.

According to Charles Francis, a spokesman for the Charleston police, the new charges stem from the results of the victim’s rape kit. Francis said DNA from West’s saliva matched DNA found on the victim’s clothes.

The victim was a 17-year-old College of Charleston freshman at the time of her alleged assault in August. According to police and court records, she was invited to a “Bid Day” party hosted by the college’s chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi at Seppi’s Ashley Avenue apartment, celebrating the end of fraternity recruitment.

Seppi and West approached her at the party, where West “forcefully walked her up two flights of stairs” to Seppi’s bedroom, according to police affidavits. At this point, the affidavits state, she “became alarmed” and attempted to leave, but they pushed her into the room and locked the door. According to the affidavits, they proceeded to undress her, force her to take illegal drugs and order her to perform sex acts on West.

She again tried to stand up and leave, but West and Seppi continued to sexually assault her, the affidavits state, until she started crying and screaming. Then West left the room while Seppi searched for the victim’s clothes. Another woman walked in the room and found the victim wearing only her underwear and appearing distraught.

The victim went to Medical University Hospital that night to receive a rape kit.

Seppi and West were members of Alpha Epsilon Pi at the university. West was charged in September 2016 for engaging a child for sexual performance and was released on a $15,000 bond.

Derek Connolly, a Hollywood screenwriter who worked on the new Star Wars and Jurassic World, is suing a Tinder date after claiming she attempted to blackmail him.

Connolly, who has worked on the new Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and King Kong movies, has filed a lawsuit against Ada Hui, a woman who he alleges stalked him and invaded his privacy.

According to the TMZ report, Connolly claims the pair met on dating app Tinder in May 2016 before going enduring a bad breakup.

Derek Connolly, whose credits include the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX as well as Jurassic World and Kong: Skull Island, met a woman named Ada Hui last May on the dating app. They dated until late last month, and the breakup was super bad.

He says she exploded in a fit of rage, posting their text messages on Instagram and threatening to damage his career. Connolly says Hui even insinuated he was in harm’s way. Then it got really ugly. Connolly says she told him to drop off her stuff by a certain time, or else it would be Entourage S7 E7, a reference to Season 7 Episode 7 titled “Tequila and Coke,” in which Ari Gold was blackmailed.

Furthermore, Connolly alleged that Hui He threatened to “gut his identity and self-worth” and that she said, “You won’t see it coming” before it would hit him “like a ton of bricks.”

Usually, I would say everything and anything to put down this psycho broad and take the side of the screenwriter, but the fact that she’s using f*cking Entourage references to threaten people commands my respect.

A loud explosion took place in a residential building in Russia’s St. Petersburg close to the site where explosives were found earlier, witnesses told local media. No one was hurt during the explosion, RIA news agency reported citing emergencies ministry.

What Happened?

The blast apparently originated in an apartment building in eastern St. Petersburg. Photos and videos from the scene show the damaged side of a 16th floor building and debris scattered on the ground below it.

Rescue services are evacuating residents from the building and investigating the cause of the blast. Interfax cited head of the administration of the district Konstantin Serov as saying that the incident was construction related and caused no injuries.

Earlier on Thursday, another residential building in St. Petersburg was evacuated after an explosive device was found in one of its apartments, a city official said, adding that the device was later defused and police had made several arrests connected with the incident. This latest explosion comes just days after a terrorist detonated a device on a metro train, killing 14 and wounding 50.

Stephen Shaulis, a police officer assigned to a Pittsburgh high school, is being accused of punching a 14-year-old boy so hard that his tooth was knocked out. The medical team at UPMC Presbyterian was able to successfully reattach the tooth.

According to Todd Hollis, the victim’s attorney, the Woodland Hills High School resource officer confronted Queshawn Wade about a stolen cell phone around 1:15 P.M. on Monday, April 3.

Shaulis allegedly called Wade a ‘gay slur’ before striking him, leaving the boy with a bloody mouth and missing teeth.

“Shaulis comes out and calls him a (gay slur). The kid says watch your mouth, you don’t know who you’re talking to,” Hollis said. Soon after, according to Hollis, Shaulis forced Wade into his office past school administrators and then beat him.

“He said that he was thrown against the wall. He landed on a chair. He was then punched in the back of his head. He was placed in a prone position on the ground. He was punched in the teeth, which is where his tooth fell out,” Hollis said.

“I don’t care what happened to the cellphone. It does not justify getting his teeth knocked out of his mouth.”

The Allegheny County district attorney (of the county where the school is located) is investigating the matter. Because the issue involves potential excessive force by a police officer, the FBI will be involved in the investigation as well.

The allegations against Shaulis come just a few months after Kevin Murray, the Woodland High School Principal, was placed on administrative leave after a video showed him threatening a special-needs student.

I caught this live on The Late Show last night and just knew I’d have to write about it the next day (today) at work. Colbert has been on a hot streak for the ages and this bit only continues that wave.

In the type of bit that only Colbert could pull off, Stephen disguises himself as an H&R Block tax professional named Otto Sanchez as he unleashes awkward hell upon unsuspecting customers. Between setting papers on fire, drinking on the job, or offering the customer an H&R Block of cheese, Colbert made sure to do everything he could to make one of the worst days of the year, tax day, even worse for these people.

Except for my man who accepted Colbert’s offer and cracked open the Budweiser. That dude doesn’t have a care in the world.

I think we can all agree that it’s good for everyone when Colbert is on top of his game. More authentic than Fallon and more intelligent than Kimmell, Colbert is going to be the king of late night television for the next decade.

Ruby Kate Coursey, 27, from Thomaston, Upson County, is accused of killing her paraplegic boyfriend Troymaine Johnson, 33, after he died of hypothermia after Coursey left him in the woods.

What Happened?

Coursey is accused of stranding her paraplegic boyfriend in the woods and leaving him to die. She has been charged with felony murder and neglect of a disabled adult.

Johnson was last seen on March 14 when he and Coursey were supposed to beaded for the store, police said. She left his wheelchair at his home in Fort Valley.

Johnson’s body was then found three days later at a hunting camp 70 miles south of Atlanta. Coursey is accused of pushing Johnson out of the car and leaving him to die.

Friends told CBS that Johnson was a funny and kind man.

Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore told WMAZ: “They have had a romantic relationship for a while but they had not been in that relationship for a little while. She had gone down to pick him up and he was never heard from again.”

1953 – 2000

Hefner, using $8,000, first started Playboy back in 1953, a massively risky undertaking for the times. But Hefner, a psychology graduate, knew what men were looking for and leveraged that into an empire. It also didn’t hurt that the very first issue of Playboy featured none other than Marilyn Monroe.

The much-buzzed about Playboy took advantage of the ruckus it was stirring and Monroe’s high-profile to sell 50,000 copies with just its first issue. Subscriptions increased from one million in the first year to seven million in the next.

By the ’60s, Playboy had evolved into a multimillion-dollar brand selling roughly 1 million magazines per month. The publication was featured everywhere from casinos to hotel resorts. However, Playboy’s diminished relevance and profitability put a dent in that number. According to paperwork filed in 2009 as part of a divorce, he estimated his own net worth to be $43 million.

2011 – Present

In 2011, Hefner lost 80% of his shares in Playboy due to a leveraged buyout by Icon Acquisition Holdings and Rizvi Traverse. The deal left Hefner only a 37% stake in the company, with 60% going to Rizvi Traverse. According to the 2011 contract, Hefner still makes around $1 million per year and remains in control of all editorial and creative content for the magazine.

Gonna set myself up for a little criticism here, but I actually never watched The Office until last year.

And the only reason I did watch was because I drunkenly told this girl I was hooking up with that I had seen the show. So I did — binge-watched the entire thing on Netflix in about two months.

So when I heard rumors that The Office may be leaving Netflix, naturally, I had to do some research. NO show is better suited for the Netflix model than The Office, so I could never imagine a world where they would take it down. Needless to say, fans weren’t happy:

There’s pro-life, there’s pro-choice, and then there’s this liberal version of the kid from American History X.

A Twitter video from Monday, April 3, shows a LIT Texas State University student going absolutely berserk on a pro-life display on campus. Details are scarce, but that doesn’t matter because the video is electric with or without context.

“Get the f—k out of here with this bulls—t, man!” the man yells in the video. “This is f—king bulls—t! Get this s—t out of here!”

Emma Brockway, the Texas State junior and self-described “progressive activist” who tweeted out the video, said on Twitter:

“I am a supporter of free speech, but again, I think everyone was secretly wanting to do what he did.”

Furthermore, Brockway told The Tab that she “was annoyed to see the anti-choice people” on campus:

“I’m a junior at Texas State and they constantly come on campus. I am pro-choice. There weren’t a ton of people near the Stallions while this was happening – normally there are more people.

I was shocked, but I have to admit I admire him in some ways because I think he did what we were all wanting to do. I am a supporter of free speech, but again, I think everyone was secretly wanting to do what he did. People around me were shocked. After I saw the incident, I immediately began organizing a peaceful counter protest. It’s important that the pro-choice side has a presence at the Stallions as well.”

Colton Duncan, the student body Vice President of Texas State University, urged for students to end the “growing trend of resorting to violence” with disagreements on campus.

“It is very unfortunate to see radicalism, in whatever form it may come, whether it’s disgustingly racist flyers posted on campus, radical speakers funded and sponsored by the University, or the vandalization of property.”

Treshon Broughton is a senior at Washington State University, who just finished up his last season as a member on the Cougars football team. Although he was a cornerback, he was not able to use his speed to get out of a sticky situation this past winter. On February 18, Broughton tried to buy a lighter with a fake $20 bill at a liquor store, and the employees weren’t fooled in the slightest.

The liquor store called the police and officer Shane Emerson arrived on the scene. This is when Broughton’s night went from bad to worse. Here’s The Spokane-Review with the details on Broughton’s arrest.

Emerson asked Broughton for his ID, but he refused to cooperate and the officer suspected he might run, according to the report. Emerson grabbed Broughton’s arm and tried to place him in handcuffs, but Broughton resisted and threw his arms in the air, questioning why he was under arrest, the report states.

Emerson wrote in the report that Broughton appeared drunk and there was the smell of liquor on his breath. He wrote, “I did not feel comfortable with his resistance and felt it was prudent to fully detain him.”

A second officer, Alex Gordon, arrived and ordered Broughton to comply, but he refused, according to the report.

“Officer Gordon attempted to place Broughton into a lateral vascular neck restraint and Broughton was able to get out of his hold,” Emerson wrote. “We took Broughton to the ground and he remained on his knees, pushing up with his arms. For the record, Broughton was a member of the 2016 WSU football team and from my training and experience appeared exceptionally strong.”

The grappling continued and, at one point, Broughton rolled on top of Emerson, according to the report. After issuing a warning that Broughton ignored, Gordon deployed his Taser into Broughton’s upper back, the report states. Emerson then pinned Broughton to the ground and put on handcuffs.

All this over a goddamn lighter??? Those things cost like two bucks, and if you’re totally broke, you can just grab matches for free from a 7-Eleven. There are very few causes worthy of getting tased and arrested for and a liquor store lighter is certainly not one of them.

Broughton has since been released from jail, but he made his stay there quite memorable. The 22-year-old yelled and screamed like a maniac, stripped down to his underwear, and flooded his cell.

For his wild night, Broughton is facing charges of resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer. These are both gross misdemeanors, while flooding your cell with toilet water is just plain gross.

There are times I feel bad about the amount of heat Florida catches on the internet. As someone from New Jersey, I can relate to the outside world having a negative perception of your entire state. But most times, I don’t feel bad because Florida is just… different.

The latest example comes from Florida Gulf Coast University, where some students took a dead alligator from outside and brought it into their dorm room to take pictures of it. When I was a freshman, I was rushing fraternities, trying to get laid, smoking grav bongs in my dorm room, you know, normal shit. But not Florida. No, in Florida they find the nearest dead animal carcass and bring it to their dorm room for a photo shoot.

To Florida’s credit, the adults didn’t find it too funny either and the three FGCU students involved were given a warning by the university.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sent an officer to FGCU after getting a call from school police about the alligator.

“They just found it on the side of the road and thought it would be fun to take some photos with it,” said Brian Norris, an FWC spokesman.

 FWC took possession of the carcass.”It was actually a road kill alligator that they found and that was confirmed by the officer examining the carcass,” Norris said. “It was very clear evidence of it being road kill.”

Florida, man.

Sarah Hyland, 26, is best known for her role as Hayley Dunphy on ABC’s Modern Family. Originally scoring the role when she was 19, Hyland has practically grown up in front of our eyes into a beautiful young woman. And when I say beautiful, I mean BEA-utiful. Hyland was born in New York City (Go Yankees!). She earned small roles in films such as Private Parts (1997), Annie (1999) and Blind Date (2007) before being cast in the ABC sitcom. Since Modern Family, Hyland has appeared in movies such as Struck By Lightning (2012), Scary Movie 5 (2013), Vampire Academy (2014), and XOXO (2016).

Hyland is more than a pretty face on screen, though. She’s faced her fair share of hardships in life. As a young child, she was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia and underwent a kidney transplant in April 2012. Fortunately, everything went smoothly and Hyland has been popping up in TV and films ever since.

In 2013, Hyland was nominated for a Critics Choice TV Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Though she didn’t win, she’s still a victor in the hearts and minds of her many, many male friends. As such, we’ve put together a gallery of some of her hottest photos.

The Masters is the premiere golf event of the year. Each year, the best golfers in the world come down to compete for the coveted green jacket. In 2017, the 81st edition of The Masters will be held from Thursday April 6th to Sunday April 9th at its usual location, the beautiful course at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta Georgia.

The tournament is the first of golf’s four major championships of the year. The U.S Open, The Open Championship, and The PGA Championship all follow The Masters in 2017, although no other major is quite as important as this one. It remains the smallest field out of the four major championships, with a number of different ways to qualify. It is an official money event with a purse of $10 million, with last year’s winner Danny Willett earning $1.8 million.

Shia LaBeouf has hit a bit of a rough patch lately. It seems that practically every day he’s in the news, and the stories are virtually always negative. Just yesterday, it was reported that Shia’s new movie Man Down has sold a paltry three tickets in the United Kingdom. There’s a chance the film’s UK run will end with roughly $26 dollars in sales, which is a total that’s more in line with lemonade stands than movies.

I guess Shia was feeling stressed out from Man Down’s disappointing box office performance, so he decided to take his anger out on some bowling pins on Wednesday night. According to TMZ, Shia was throwing back beers for three hours at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, California. He then got into a heated argument over french fries with a bartender and was asked to leave the alley.

You can check out footage of Shia screaming at some supposedly “racist” dude in the videos below.

As much as I enjoyed the yelling, I think Shia running down the street was my favorite part of the videos. Watching him hold his shoes in his hands and make a mad dash away from the bowling alley was such a ridiculous visual.

If I’m Shia, I’m spinning this incident as research for a remake of The Big Lebowski. Just say that you were preparing for the role of Walter Sobchak and somebody went over the line. Mark it zero!
