Katherine Ruth Harper, a married middle-school English teacher and cheerleading coach in Texas, is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old student. Furthermore, Harper is now pregnant with what could potentially be the student’s child.

Harper, 27, was arrested and charged with having an improper relationship with a student in Trophy Club, Texas, a wealthy suburb northwest of Dallas.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Harper, a seventh-grade teacher at John M Tidwell Middle School, sent several nude photos to a 15-year-old boy who atttended Byron Nelson High School.

The school district found out through an anonymous tip that said the boy and Harper were having sex and also claimed she was also pregnant.  While Harper is currently 8 months pregnant,  the arrest warrant does not state if the 15-year-old is the baby’s father.

The warrant states the boy, when asked by the Byron Nelson HS principal, started crying and said that he and Harper had multiple sexual encounters.

“One thing led to another and she told me to ‘put it in’ and I did,” the boy said, according to the warrant.

Other sexual meetups involved drinking alcohol, taking off their clothes together and the boy performing oral sex on Harper. Harper also sent multiple nude photos via smart phone to the boy. Police said the two communicated 76 times between June 1 and July 31.

According to the Child Protective Services investigator, the unidentified teenager said he and Harper began drinking alcohol and both took off their clothes. At that time, the teen performed a sex act on Harper. After that, the two had sex several times either at his home or hers from June 1, 2016, to July 31, 2016.

Harper was arrested on Tuesday, March 21 by Trophy Club police. She was booked into the Denton County jail and released on a $15,000 bond.

She faces a charge of improper relationship between an educator and student, a second-degree felony.

Guilfoyle has been married twice. In 2001, she got hitched to Gavin Newsom, who would later be elected as the mayor of San Francisco in 2003. The couple got divorced in 2006.

What Happened?

Harper is said to have engaged in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student last summer at her Fort Worth home and at his home in Trophy Club, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. Harper is now pregnant with what could be the student’s child.

The two were said to have also exchanged naked pictures which the student saved on his phone. He has not been identified as he is a juvenile.

Harper was arrested last week following a three-month investigation. She was later released after posting $15,000 bond. She now faces charges of improper relationship between an educator and a student, a second-degree felony.

The teen was a student of Harper’s at Tidwell Middle School last year, according to the affidavit. The two began sending flirty text messages to one another, which eventually led to her going to his Trophy Club home. In an interview with a state Child Protective Services investigator, the student said the pair drank alcohol and took their clothes off before engaging in sexual acts. They proceeded to have sex several times from June 1, 2016, to July 31, 2016.

This is the type of shit that gets you killed in prison. Meaning, if you said something as equally offensive within the confines of a jail, someone would probably shank your ass.

Here’s what I don’t understand: what portion of your brain tells you that talking down on the victims of assault? You ever hear of a pros/cons list? Simple decision making? Unreal.

Albert L. Lord, who is a former executive at Sallie Mae, was elected to serve on the Penn State Board of Trustees by alumni.  Lord, a Penn State trustee who has been a vocal supporter of embattled former President Graham B. Spanier, had a couple of wildly offensive opinions about the sexual abuse victims of former Nittany Lions assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

In the email sent to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Lord said he is “running out of sympathy” for the “so-called” abuse victims.

“Running out of sympathy for 35 yr old, so-called victims with 7 digit net worth,” Lord said in the email. “Do not understand why they were so prominent in trial. As you learned, Graham Spanier never knew Sandusky abused anyone.”

Furthermore, in an interview, Lord said the ‘horrors’ of Sandusky’s crimes have made it impossible for a fair-minded assessment of whether former University President Graham B. Spanier and others acted inappropriately based on the facts.

“I am tired of victims’ getting in the way of clearer thinking and a reasoned approach to who knew what and who did what,” Lord said in the interview.

Prosecutors in the child-endangerment conviction of Spanier have argued that he broke the law after receiving a 2001 report that graduate assistant Mike McQueary had seen Sandusky naked with a young boy in the showers at Penn State’s Lasch Building, but he did not demand that it be reported immediately to child protection authorities.

Gary Robbins, a truck driver from Homer, Alaska, was arrested by Massachusetts police on Tuesday, March 28, after allegedly driving 3,000 miles without rest from Washington state while hopped up on a combination of crystal methamphetamine, LSD, and cocaine.

The Deerfield Police Department, the Massachusettes town Robbins was arrested in, said Robbins was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs, as well as ‘a laundry list’ of motor vehicle violation. Robbins had started his trek in Seattle and made his way all the way to Massachusetts without rest.

Furthermore, according to Deerfield Police officer Adam Sokoloski, Robbins threw his credit cards into the truck’s fuel tank, locked himself out of the truck, and was trying to climb into the cab through the space between the cab and trailer, Sokoloski said, noting Robbins did not own the truck.

At the scene, Police Sgt. Harry Ruddock III “began speaking with (Robbins) and the driver was clearly acting combative and showing signs of drug use,” including dilated pupils, Deerfield Police posted on its Facebook page.

“He was clearly a danger to himself and others,” Sokoloski said.

“It appeared the driver didn’t rest, only used drugs, and he drove from Seattle, Wash., to Deerfield, with a destination on the East Coast,” the police posted on social media.

Later, police say, Robbins admitted to using drugs but refused to go to the hospital. “Officers had quite the struggle to get this truck driver to the Baystate Franklin Medical Center.”

Robbins, whose truck was impounded and brought to the Whately truck stop for a full inspection by the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, has been summoned to appear in Greenfield District Court.

While the majority of college students across the country got absolutely plastered for weeks on end, the University of Delaware offered a much different approach to the traditional spring break. Instead of trashing beaches and hotels around the world, Delaware looked for alternative options for their students to actually benefit society.

According to their website, the university’s plan was to send some of their undergraduate students on service based learning trips over the winter and spring breaks. Their mission statement is “dare to make a difference.” Thanks a lot UD, making the rest of college students feel even better about what they did over spring break.

About the Program

The University of Delaware Alternative Breaks program (UDaB) is essentially the anti-spring break. UDaB is a student run organization and sent over 350 participants on 16 different trips over 2016 during the winter and spring breaks.

The students who choose to participate are sent all over to help communities in need over their breaks from school, rather than spending their time passed out on a beach somewhere in Cancun. The program is available to all undergraduate students and also tries to involve other groups from campus.

UDaB was officially launched in 2010 and the program has grown ever since. The first campaign began during the spring break of 2011 with 92 participants that were sent to five different communities in need.

The program works with bigger organizations each year such as Habitat for Humanity and the National Relief Network. Different locations for community service are listed on the site with multiple student leaders on each location. Each project is offered to a specific number of students with costs reaching as high as $790 and as low as $215.

Pretty much, students at Delaware are willing to pay as much as certain major spring break destinations would cost to better communities and areas in dire need of help. Well, shout-out to all those involved in UDaB for just being a bunch of great people, and making the rest of college kids coming back from spring break look like a bunch of degenerates.

Yasha Asley, 14, will become the youngest lecturer and student in University of Leicester history. He will take classes and teach math to other students because he’s a full blown genius.

Asley was interviewed and offered the paid position when he was just 13-years-old. At the time he beat out adult applicants for the job. Let me just stop here quickly and say that I once sharted on the school bus when I was 13. Clearly, Asley and I do not belong to the same species.

The University had to gain special permission from the city council in order to employ Asley because, you know, teenager and all that. Once his employment begins, he will run workshops for adult students who need help and support solving problems after his lectures. Pretty nuts, right? It makes me feel even more inadequate for being placed in dumb math during high school.

Asley was the first child in the world to earn an A grade in math A Level scoring 100 percent when he was just 8-years-old. I’d like to stop here again and say quickly that I remember dropping a full-blown deuce in my pants during a soccer game when I was 8. Once again, Asley and I are not from the same planet.

Melanie Bullard, a 39-year-old Georgia kindergarten teacher, has been arrested after school officials found her drunk in class with a loaded gun in her purse.

A fellow staff member at the school alerted administrators at Shelton Elementary School in Dallas, Georgia, around 12 PM on Thursday, March 30, that Bullard, 39, smelled of alcohol.

According to Paulding County sheriff’s Sergeant Ashley Henson, Bullard tested positive for alcohol in evaluations administered by a school resource officer.

It was then that officials found the loaded weapon in Bullard’s purse.

When school district personnel searched her classroom for any possible open containers, police say they discovered a semi-automatic pistol in her purse.

The purse was on the floor underneath a desk in the classroom, according to authorities.

Bullard is being held without bond on charges of reckless conduct and possession of a weapon on school property. It wasn’t immediately clear whether she had an attorney who could comment on the charges.

The school has since sent a letter to parents alerting them of the incident.

This year’s event is being described as “the ultimate thrill ride.” Hopefully, WWE can deliver on this promise.  Many fans weren’t too fond of the outcome of last year’s event. And speaking of Roman Reigns, he’ll be going up against the iconic Undertaker.

On a side note, if Reigns beats The Undertaker, he most likely will get booed out of the building. And I have a feeling Reigns is gonna win. In my opinion, that’s the smart decision. I know it may be an unpopular opinion, but just compare the ages of the two men. The 52-year-old Undertaker is over twenty years older than Roman Reigns, who is in his prime at 31 years old. It’s about time to pass the torch to The Guy.

As we’ve stated multiple times this year, South Padre Island in Texas was the place to be for Spring Break in 2017. Not only was SPI absolutely flocked with college students looking to blow off some steam before mid-terms and finals, their beautiful beaches managed to stay relatively incident-free considering the potential for disaster. Keep in mind that while places like Panama City Beach–once a mecca for Spring Break–have completely shunned away Spring Breakers from their city by passing a number of new laws, South Padre Island has managed to keep their open container laws on the beach and keep the peace.

There’s no doubt that a lot of eyes were on South Padre this Spring Break. We named SPI the #1 Best Place for 2017 Spring Break and then the annual Hannity Fox News special took a trip to Texas. We don’t mean to toot our own horn here, but that’s pretty suspicious. But despite Fox News’ attempt to instill fear in the parents of college students, the residents and law enforcement at South Padre did a phenomenal job of keeping the peace and giving people a safe place to have fun.

We wanted to talk to someone at South Padre Island directly in regards to this year’s Spring Break, so we were extremely happy to be granted an interview with Keith Arnold, the Director of the South Padre Convention and Visitors Bureau. Keep in mind that there’s still one week of Spring Break left, but considering all the press about SPI this week, we thought it best to talk to the man immediately.

COED: How long have you been a director at the South Padre Convention and Visitor’s Bureau?

Keith Arnold: 2 Years. This will be my second Spring Break.

How would you say that this year’s Spring Break compares to last year’s in terms of attendance?

We don’t have our figures tabulated, but in all appearances it was significantly bigger than last year.

What is it about South Padre that makes it such a great Spring Break destination?

Great beach, warm weather, lots of things to do, good entertainment, and great restaurants. Also it’s an island that’s all self-contained, it’s very easy to get around in. Essentially the same things that make it a great tourist destination are what make it a great Spring Break destination.

I know that you’re aware of some of the issues that plagued Panama City Beach, and while you can’t speak to what happened at PCB in another state, I was curious if you could talk about what keeps South Padre protected from some of the issues that were going on there.

In a very general sense, we’ve learned from other people’s challenges. When you get a very large crowd of people during Spring Break there are going to be things that occur but we have an extraordinary police department, we have cooperation from state agencies, we have cooperation from federal agencies, and in the overall we’re a safe place to be. We’re trying to be fun place, but also safe considering the volume of people that come here—particularly during Texas Week.

Do you have a general guesstimate of how many people were there during Texas Week?

Honestly I wouldn’t even dare. It was an extraordinarily large number of people.

It certainly looked like a large number of people, which is why I was so impressed with the fact that I saw almost zero negative press about South Padre. Not to say that nothing happened, because that would be impossible with the volume of Spring Breakers, but just that it seemed as though you kept things handled well.

Every year we have Spring Break, and as it gets larger, we learn more things to do in successive years to keep it fun, to keep it enticing, and to keep it safe. Those are the three things that we try to do very well as a city, as a county, and just in general for the businesses on the island.

Can you give me some specifics of how you guys prepared for a bigger Spring Break?

One of the things we did with the new city manager and new Fire Chief, who have a lot of experience in incident management, is that we had a really well-established Operating Control Center for all the departments who were involved: from cleanup, to public safety, to all those types of departments. We had a really good process this year and really good communications.

Another thing we had this year, and I don’t know if this is anywhere else, is a faith-based operation that comes each year with a whole lot of college students who volunteer their time to help the city and to help kids who need help. We had a thousand kids with Beach Reach this year, volunteering with vans to drive people who needed it, to just generally be there to support the Spring Breakers. These volunteers also prepared food for our public safety officers. It’s been here for about 30 years, which is a huge help. Beach Reach is a really phenomenal program.

Were you expecting this year to be as large as it was?

We were expecting it to be larger than last year, yes. But judging from preliminary reservations (condominium, hotels, etc.), we were expecting at least a 15% increase. We’ve had good attendance throughout all of Spring Break. We call the other weeks “shoulder weeks” but Texas Week, plus the addition of Oklahoma who was also out at that time, meant that we had massive numbers all through March, including this week.

One of the things that I find so fascinating about South Padre in terms of safety, is the fact that you allow open containers on the beach. Can you tell me a little bit more about how law enforcement is able to keep control?

Well we have officers on ATVs, on bikes, patrolling on foot, and that includes everyone from the safety department of parks and wildlife, game wardens help us, and there’s electronic surveillance, too. We have license plate readers and those kinds of things. We try and keep very very aware of the people coming on or off the island that is of any potential danger, so we try and isolate that too. It’s really well-segmented, the compartmentalize sections of the beach. You can’t drive on our beach, except the north (which is the county). So the concentration of students are walking onto the beaches through limited access points. So the entrance and egress is pretty easy to follow. The Police Chief has been here for quite awhile, and the senior officers have too, and they have it well systematized. There are a couple of things I can’t talk about, but one of the things I can discuss is that there are a number of undercover officers.

From what you’ve seen so far this year, if next year’s Spring Break was the same as this year, is that something you would be happy with?

If we can continue to improve on this year, and learn how to better handle large crowds, but certainly Spring Break is important to our economy, so we want to make it better for the businesses, the residents, and particularly for the people to come here and have fun.

What’s the opinion of South Padre locals of Spring Break?

Generally speaking, everyone understands its value to our economy. That’s the most important thing to make a note of. We keep trying to find ways to make it better.

The last comment I have that I think is really important. When you’re dealing with large crowds in the commercial area of South Padre that is only 2.5 square miles, the most important thing is to learn every year and be in a mode of continuous improvement for fun and safety.

1994

In 1994 at the tender age of 20, DiCaprio was honored with an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting role for his role as the mentally challenged Arnie in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. Despite his age, DiCaprio was praised by critics for his performance. Janet Maslin of the New York Times wrote at the time “the film’s real show-stopping turn comes from Mr. DiCaprio, who makes Arnie’s many tics so startling and vivid that at first he is difficult to watch…The performance has a sharp, desperate intensity from beginning to end.”

2005

In 2005, DiCaprio starred in Martin Scorsese’s Howard Hughes biopic The Aviator, Though the film received mixed-to-positive reviews – it holds a 77% on Metacritic – DiCaprio’s leading performance as the OCD-riddled renaissance man was warmly embraced by the movie-going public. The movie asks a lot of DiCaprio in detailing the eccentric billionaire’s reduction into a reclusive mad man.

2007

Two years after The Aviator, DiCaprio adopted a near flawless South African accent – one of the more difficult speech patterns for Americans to master – for his impressive turn in Blood Diamond. The morally complex Danny Archer always played both sides in the film with DiCaprio’s measured performance leaving audiences wondering whether this character was indeed a good or bad man. The film gave DiCaprio his third Oscar nomination.

2014

In 2014, DiCaprio re-teamed with Scorsese for the fifth time in The Wolf of Wall Street, based on the real life wild adventures of former Wall Street power broker Jordan Belfort. DiCaprio’s performance was described by some as an excellent example of “gonzo acting,” with Rotten Tomatoes‘ consensus saying, “Funny, self-referential, and irreverent to a fault, The Wolf of Wall Street finds Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio at their most infectiously dynamic.”

2016

In 2016, DiCaprio won his first Oscar on his fifth nomination for his physically demanding and self-punishing work in The Revenant. I could wax poetic about his character, or I could just show you this scene instead:

To think that Victoria Beckham is 42 years old and has four kids is insane because she is still unbelievably hot. Music Career

Beckham’s rise to fame was through the hit pop group the Spice Girls in the 1990s. The group was huge in the United Kingdom as well as the U.S. One of their first singles immediately rose to number one in both countries.

The Spice Girls became the best-selling female group of all time. The group split in the early 2000s. Beckham also married soccer superstar David Beckham in 1999. She launched a solo career for a few years, but ended that in 2004. The Spice Girls did return for a reunion tour back in 2007 and then made brief appearances throughout the years.

Late Career

Beckham has heavily influenced the fashion and business industry in her career. Along with that, she has been a prominent supermodel, in which she debuted in 200 during London Fashion Week.

She has created several fashion lines throughout the last 15 years. Beckham also appeared at the Milan Fashion Week in 2006 for Roberto Cavalli. She officially launched a fashion label in September of 2008 under her name.

Beckham has even won the Designer Brand of the Year before, back in 2011 at the British Fashion Awards. She hasn’t stopped there either, she has also made many television appearances, and starred in five documentaries.

In 2007, Beckham was named the 52nd richest woman in Britain and the 19th richest combined with her husband. She now has three sons and a daughter with the soccer legend. You can tell by her career and Instagram that nothing’s slowing her down, and even at 42 she’s still one of the hottest women around.

The Coastal Carolina University cheerleading team has been suspended indefinitely as officials investigate a laundry list of allegations against them, including prostitution. Here’s everything you need to know about the story.

What Happened?

According to a cheerleader who spoke to WMBF News on the condition of anonymity, an investigator with the CCU Department of Public Safety came to the team’s practice Wednesday night and informed them that an anonymous letter was mailed to school president David DeCenzo on March 7. The letter alleged that certain cheerleaders were involved in a “long list of things” that were against the law, such as prostitution, purchasing alcohol for underage team members and paying others to do their homework for them.

Police then met the team outside the HTC center after practice, according to the cheerleader. Authorities took specific team members to CCU’s police station for questioning where their cell phones were also searched. Officers then released them around 11:00 P.M. after telling them they did nothing wrong.

CCU Vice President of Communications William M. Plate Jr. said there are currently no incident reports related to the conduct investigation.

The cheerleading section of the CCU Athletics website has removed pictures of team members.

The HTC Center confirmed that a cheerleading showcase that was scheduled for April 4 has been removed from the schedule ahead of the team’s planned appearance at a national competition in Florida. The cheerleader said the team was told they will no longer be allowed to attend the competition in Daytona Beach, Florida. Officials with the competition said the team is still registered and paid in full, and they have not heard the team will not be coming. Team members raised money for their own travel expenses to the competition, and are now upset that they are unable to attend, the cheerleader said.

Nichole Cevario, the 18-year-old who was planning to attack Catoctin High School, has been released from the hospital and arrested. She has been charged with plotting against Catoctin high school and is being held without bond.

What Happened?

Nichole Cevario, 18, was planning to attack Catoctin High School on April 5 with homemade explosives and a shotgun, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.

“[S]he had the means and equipment to have caused a significant life safety event at Catoctin High School if she had followed through with the threat,” police said in a statement.

Cevario, an honor student, was taken out of class last Thursday and immediately transported to a hospital for evaluation. The school and police were first tipped off to Cevario’s plans by her father, school officials said.

Police searched the family’s home in Thurmont, Maryland last week and found weapons and a journal. Among the weapons was a shotgun with ammunition and bomb-making materials including magnesium tape, pipes with end caps, fireworks, shrapnel, and fuse material.

Cevario reportedly used the journal to lay out her nefarious plot, with police saying she “spelled out a detailed shooting event that she planned to execute on a specific date in April.”

“The journal was very detailed, including a time line that revealed how she was going to execute the plot, and her expectations at each stage of the event,” police said.

“I’ve never seen anything like this, to be honest with you,” Frederick County Sheriff Charles Jenkins said. “It shocks the conscious to see someone of that age could be thinking like that.”

Following the plan’s exposure, Superintendent Terry Alban recorded a message about school safety that was later posted to YouTube for students, faculty and family members.

Who Is Nichole Cevario?

Nichole Cevario is an 18-year-old student at Catoctin High School in Maryland. She planned to set off a bomb at the school and shoot classmates and faculty with a shotgun. Police say that it was clear she had mental health issues.

Officials say she acted alone and is currently in police custody being held without bond. She will likely be charged with possession of explosive and incendiary material with intent to create a destructive device.

Westview High School in Poway, California, is on lockdown following reports of a gun on campus, according to witnesses. Here are all the details currently available.

What Happened?

Police were on the scene, located on Camino Del Sur in San Diego, around 11:30 A.M. PT. As of now, there have been no confirmed reports of shots fired. The school was locked down “out of an abundance of caution,” officials said.

Police are said to have received a call Friday morning about a student who saw a classmate in the bathroom with what appeared to be a gun, according to a SDPD spokesperson. It’s possible that the gun is now in the student’s backpack as police continue to search.

UPDATE 3:56 P.M – Police have not found a gun but are continuing to search the school to be safe.

Officers and a K-9 unit are on the scene sweeping the school grounds. Parents have also arrived at the school.

Westview High School

Westview High School is part of the Poway Unified School District and is located in San Diego, California. The school houses grades 9-12 and roughly 2,304 students. It was founded in 2002.

Chance the Rapper made a major announcement about his efforts to support Chicago Public Schools on Friday afternoon at Robeson High School on the South Side of Chicago. He announced the launch of the ‘New Chance Arts & Literature’ fund.

Chance says with the $2.2 million dollars his charities have donated, 12 different Chicago schools will be receiving funding.

Today’s announcement comes about a month after he met with Governor Bruce Rauner about CPS funding. A couple of days later,  Chance announced more than $1 million in donations from SocialWorks to various CPS schools and the CPS foundation.

Saying the “arts are essential,” Grammy Award winner Chance the Rapper announced Friday that he was creating a new fund to offer programs at Chicago schools hardest hit by budget cuts.

Flanked by students at Paul Robeson High School, the city’s favorite rapper said the new arts programs would start in the fall. Chance, who grew up in Chatham, has been raising money for schools through his website and his nonprofit organization, Social Works Chicago.

Chance also announced that the Chicago Bulls had matched his $1 million donation he made to CPS for arts education. In all, Chance said he had raised $2.2 million for schools.

Furthermore, 10 city schools got $10,000 direct from his organization, and he said another 12 would also get $10,000.

Chance is a graduate of Chicago’s Jones College Prep High School.

Three Florida International University students have been arrested and accused of running a high-class prostitution ring. One of the girls, 19-year-old Samara Charlotin, was arrested on March 29 at the Colonnade Hotel in Coral Gables outside of Miami.

What Happened?

Samara Charlotin, 19, was arrested in mid-March by an undercover police officer who says he he arranged to have sex with Charlotin and another girl in exchange for $5,000. The cop also asked the girls if he could have sex without a condom for more money. The pair agreed in principal and were arrested shortly afterward. The girls were also charged with possession of marijuana and oxycotin.

A judge told Charlotin, “You’re a smart girl, if you want to live to see age 20, you need to find a new line of employment. A very risky thing you were doing, for somebody with a lot of potential such as yourself. Maybe it is a good thing you got arrested. Maybe you will change your way…lead a new path. Focus on school. You’ll do well.”

Along with Charlotin, Acacia Jerico Friedman (23) and Maury Noun (21) were also arrested.

Who Is Samara Charlotin?

Charlotin is a 19-year-old student at Florida International University where she majors in biology and minors in criminal justice. In May 2015, she was voted as biggest flirt by her senior class at Coral Reef Senior High School. CBS Miami reports that a “tearful family member” was present in court during Charlotin’s appearance. She was released on $9,000 bond.

Charlotin had an active Ask.fm page where she was regularly hit with questions about sex and sexuality. When asked if she would ever have sex with a female, Charlotin responded “maybe.” She says that her mother is Indian and Jamaican and her father is Haitian.

For those of you that are curious, the first ever recorded association between April 1 and tomfoolery came in Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales (1392). That’s a few centuries worth of shenanigans. In Chaucer’s famous tale, the vain Chauntecleer is tricked by a fox.

Another fun fact: one possible precursor to April Fools’ Day may have been the Roman festival of Hilaria. I can understand why the Romans had such a good sense of humor. Since a mere scratch or diarrhea spelled certain doom back then, people really needed a laugh.

Over the years, April Fools’ Day has become a contemporary tradition. Nowadays, many media outlets will publish fake and humorous stories on April 1 in order to trick readers (don’t believe anything you see on the Internet today, folks). For example: In 2016, online soccer news channel Goal.com “reported” that FC Barcelona winger Lionel Messi had signed a €500 million deal with rival Real Madrid for five years. The author of the article: Lirpa Loof, or April Fool spelled backwards.

Though April Fools’ Day has been widely popular since the 19th century, it is not a public holiday in any country (understandable).

Former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi is set to return this Sunday at WrestleMania 33. She sent out a tweet in early March, assuring fans that she will fight through her knee injury just in time for the big event. Naomi will be working extra hard to make it to ‘Mania. She definitely wants her hometown of Orlando to feel the glow.

The injury occurred this past February at WWE’s Elimination Chamber event. Naomi suffered a sprained ACL in her left knee while performing a split-legged moonsault on her opponent Alexa Bliss. Naomi left Phoenix that night with championship gold, as she defeated Bliss and captured her very first championship in the WWE. She celebrated her win backstage with her husband and fellow wrestler Jonathan Fatu (better known as Jimmy Uso, one half of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions).

But Naomi’s victory was bittersweet, as her knee injury meant that she would have to relinquish the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. She fought back tears as she handed over the big blue belt to General Manager Daniel Bryan on the February 21st edition of WWE SmackDown Live.

But SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan did say that any available female wrestler on the SmackDown roster can participate in their Women’s Championship match at ‘Mania. Will Naomi finally have her WrestleMania moment? Hopefully, this former Orlando Magic cheerleader will light up the night sky above the Camping World Stadium. Can Naomi pull off the comeback win of the year in Orlando? Only time will tell.

On Tuesday night’s SmackDown, Naomi returned to television and announced her intention to compete at ‘Mania. Her knee is back to 100% and she’s officially back to kicking ass. She’ll be fighting for the championship she never really lost on the grandest stage of them all.
