This time, Meek’s in the news for crime-related reasons. Meek, born Robert Rihmeek Williams, was charged with assault Wednesday, March 15 at the St. Louis International Airport.

According to reports, an airport employee asked for a picture and a fight ensued. Yeah, Meek, lashing out at one of your remaining 27 fans is a great way to make it back into America’s hearts.

Airport police were called and Meek, along with 2 airport employees, was charged with misdemeanor assault. They were given a summons to appear in court in lieu of arrest.

Fredzania Thompson, a pregnant 19-year-old aspiring model, was killed by a freight train after she became stuck between two railroad tracks while posing for an amateur photo shoot.

Thompson died on Friday, March 10, after being hit near the intersection of Hollister and Lee Street in Navasota, Texas.

According to police, Thompson was standing between two tracks when a Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway train came towards her, causing her to move to another track. However, Thompson did not see the Union Pacific train coming from the opposite direction and became stuck.

She was struck and instantly killed. The photographer at the scene was not hurt.

According to Union Pacific spokesman Jeff De Graff, the freight train was traveling southbound just before 1 p.m. when Thompson was struck while standing on the tracks.

“Apparently, there was a photo session being held on the tracks,” said De Graff. “As the train approached, the crew saw the photographer and the other individual on the tracks, alerted them with the train horn and also began the emergency stopping process on the train.”

“Basically, you have two railroad tracks there, one is Burlington Northern to the west and one is Union Pacific to the east, and she was in between the two tracks,” said Myatt after being briefed by officers on the scene. “Burlington Northern had a train on their track coming and she turned back to the east to walk across the Union Pacific track and walked right in front of the Union Pacific train that was heading south.”

A GoFundMe page was created to raise money for Thompson’s funeral. The funeral will take place Brosig Auditorium in Navasota on Saturday, March 18 at 11:00 A.M. with a graveside service taking place at Oakland Cemetery.

Alan Ruschel, a Brazilian defender, is one of just six survivors from the crash of LaMia Airlines Flight 2933, the fateful flight that killed 71 passengers, including 19 Chapecoense players.

Back in November, top flight Brazilain soccer team Chapecoense was involved in a fatal plane crash outside of Medellin. Ruschel, who miraculously survived, was the first person to arrive at the hospital. Somehow, a video showed Ruschel walking again only a few days after the crash.

Now, he’s doing more than walking. he’s trying to get back on the field.

Raymond Durham, 60, was shot as he was on the run for the shooting of two Detroit police officers.

Detroit police Chief James Craig said Durham was shot in one of his legs and was taken to Henry Ford Hospital. However, Craig says it happened during the initial encounter with the two wounded police officers.

Durham was taken into custody without incident and his weapon has been recovered.

One officer was shot in the ankle and the other in the neck and they reportedly drove themselves to Detroit Receiving Hospital.

“We’re pretty sure they’re going to make it,” said Commander Nick Kyriacou of the 10th Precinct, who was standing with a knot of a dozen officers outside the emergency room entrance. Mayor Mike Duggan consulted inside the lobby with Detroit Police Chief James Craig.

Kyriacou said the officer shot in the neck is in serious condition. Meanwhile, police from several departments swarmed the neighborhood near 23rd and Ash in a search for the gunman.

Officers with long guns drawn and wearing heavy gear searched, shining flashlights into the burned-out rubble of homes. Several blocks were closed off and a police dog was on the scene.

Police had described Durham as “armed and dangerous.”

One officer was shot in the neck, but he is expected to fully recover. The second officer was shot twice in the upper torso but saved by a protective vest. He was also shot in the ankle but the wound is not considered life-threatening.  The officers are both from the Third Precinct– one is a 20-year veteran and the other has been member of the force for four years.

A letter bomb exploded at the International Monetary Fund’s office in Paris, France, injuring one person.

According to Paris police officials, the office was evacuated and no one else is believed to be injured.

Police said there were also telephone threats against the IMF office, but it is unclear if they are linked to the explosive device. Furthermore, at this time it is not clear who sent the bomb.

A letter exploded when it was opened at the offices in central Paris of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday and one person was slightly injured, police sources said.

The Paris police department said on Twitter an operation was ongoing at the offices of the IMF and World Bank after a person was hurt following the apparent explosion of a suspect package.

“An envelope exploded after it was opened and one person was slightly injured in the offices of the IMF,” one police source told Reuters.

The incident, just six weeks before a presidential election, comes as a militant Greek group Conspiracy of Fire Cells claimed responsibility for a parcel bomb mailed to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble on Wednesday.

A source told Mirror that the explosive device “exploded in the face of a member of the IMF’s clerical staff”.

Christine Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund, released a statement:

“I have been informed about the the explosion in the IMF’s Paris office, which caused injuries to one of our staff. I have been in touch with the office, and my compassion goes to the colleagues there.

I condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm the IMF’s resolve to continue our work in line with our mandate. We are working closely with the French authorities to investigate this incident and ensure the safety of our staff.”

A high school student in southern France was arrested on Thursday after he wounded at least two people while armed with guns and grenades at the Alexis de Tocqueville High School.

What Happened?

An unnamed student at the Alexis de Tocqueville High School in Grasse, France, has been arrested after he wounded at least two people. Police have confirmed that the shooting took place early Thursday and that the gunmen were believed to have been targeting a student. However, the headmaster attempted to intervene and was shot.

The alleged shooter was arrested with a rifle, two handguns, and two grenades. The suspect is 17. Another heavily armed student may still be on the loose.

As of now, no motive is known.

The government, using its mobile alert, sent out an attack alert and warned people in the area to stay inside, according to the BBC. The alert system was put in place following the tragic November 2015 attacks in Paris.

The shooting comes on the same day that a letter bomb exploded at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) office in Paris.

Tad Cummins, 50, is on the run from police, armed with two handguns, after disappearing with a student named Elizabeth Thomas, 15, on Monday, March 13. The married teacher took out a $4,500 loan and filled his car with gas before vanishing with the 15-year-old.

Cummins and Thomas left town after they were caught kissing. A spokesperson for the Maury County Public Schools said Cummins was suspended from teaching last month and was fired on Tuesday.

Thomas, a freshman at Culleoka Unit School, met Cummins through HOSA, a school club that promotes careers in the health industry. After a student reported seeing Thomas and Cummins kissing, Cummins was escorted out of the school by law enforcement, a source told the Columbia Daily Herald.

An Amber Alert was issued across Tennessee and Alabama for the pair.

Investigators said Cummins secured a $4,500 title loan for a personal vehicle several days before his disappearance.

Since issuing the Amber Alert Tuesday evening around 6:00 P.M., Tennessee authorities say they have received “relatively few tips.” Of the approximately 80 leads TBI has followed, none have produced credible information about sightings or whereabouts of either Thomas or Cummings.

It is believed that Cummins, who is about six feet tall and 200 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes, is armed with two handguns. He was last seen driving a silver Nissan Rogue with the Tennessee tag 976ZP.

Ambers Alerts were issued in Tennessee and Alabama on Tuesday, March 14 for Mary Catherine ‘Elizabeth’ Thomas and Tad Cummins.

50-year-old Tad Cummins, a former health science teacher from Tennessee, is believed to be armed with two handguns as he is on the run with a student who he was seen kissing. Days before his disappearance, he took out a $4,500 loan.

He is now facing charges of having sexual contact with a minor. Investigators believe the pair could be in the area of Decatur, Alabama.

History has finally been made for the Northwestern Wildcats. They are set to play in their first NCAA Tournament game in the program’s history. The eighth-seeded Wildcats will begin their tournament play against the ninth-seeded Vanderbilt Commodores.

If there’s one game in the round of 64 that’s certainly been tough to pick, it’s Xavier vs. Maryland. The sixth-seed Maryland has been inconsistent throughout the entire season, along with the eleventh seeded Xavier Musketeers.

The biggest problem for Xavier has been the loss of their leading scorer Edmond Sumner due to an ACL injury. At one point in January, the Musketeer squad lost six games in a row. They have shown flashes of success and went on to beat rival Butler without Sumner. Xavier is also a very strong rebounding team, ranking 26th in offensive and defensive rebounding percentage.

The Terrapins have experienced their fair share of woes this season, too. Maryland kicked off the season as one of the best teams in the nation and only had two losses through January. They came back down to earth and have currently lost six out of their last 10 contests.

Melo Trimble is the x-factor in this matchup, averaging 17 points per game. He is still regarded as one of the best guards in the country and will need to show it to move past the Musketeers.

The 5-seed is a dangerous spot to be in, as 12-seeds are more than capable of pulling off upsets. Since the NCAA Tournament expanded to a 64-team field in 1985, 12-seeds have won roughly 36% of their meetings. Just last year, Arkansas Little-Rock knocked off Purdue 85-83 (2 OT) and Yale beat Baylor 79-75 in this matchup.

Emma Watson’s Beauty and the Beast hits theaters this weekend, giving the young actress another major movie release under her belt. As the former Harry Potter star joins the Disney family, we started to think about how much money she’s raked in over the years. Watson has done a fantastic job of alternating between big franchise affairs and smaller, more independent films. The combination of both have given her an impressive career that is continuing on an upward trajectory.

2001 – 2006

Emma Watson scored her first BIG break as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which hit theaters on November 16, 2011. The film kicked off one of the most successful movie franchises in history and topped 2001’s box office list with $974 million. The young actress would reprise her role several more times in the ensuing years: Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007).

2007 – 2011

Amid the zenith of her Harry Potter fame, Watson was pulling in between $15 million and $20 million per year from acting. Along the way, she earned several notable awards.

The actresses’ first big role outside of the Harry Potter movies was in the British TV movie Ballet Shoes. Her voice was also featured in the 20018 animated film The Tale of Despereaux.

In 2009, Watson returned to the Wizarding World with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Over the next two years, she concluded her time as Hermione Granger with 2010’s Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part I and 2011’s Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows – Part II.

In March 2009, Watson was ranked sixth on Forbes’ list of “Most Valuable Young Stars.” The next year, she earned the top spot among Hollywood’s highest-paid actresses with an estimated take of $27 million.

Watson has complemented her acting with high-end modeling work. In June 2009, she collaborated with Burberry as the face of their Autumn/Winter campaign. It is thought that she received a six-figure salary for this work.

2012 – 2014

In 2012, Watson appeared in the well-received independent film The Perks of Being A Wall Flower. In 2013, she appeared in two movies: The Bling Ring and This Is The End.

The next year, Watson was selected as British GQ’s Woman of the Year. In 2014, she was awarded the British Fashion Award.

2015 – Present

Watson appeared in the 2015 thriller Colonia. She was also the No. 1 entry on AskMen’s Top 99 Outstanding Women list.

Watson’s next big project is as Belle in Disney’s upcoming Beauty and the Beast live action adaptation. While her salary for the film has not been publicly disclosed, Disney is known as a female-friendly studio.

“Audiences have proven that there’s an appetite and a market for dynamic female leads and female-driven stories, and as an industry, we have a responsibility to create those roles for women and compensate them accordingly,” Alan Horn, the chairman of Walt Disney Studios, said.

Pi Kappa Alpha History

Pi Kappa Alpha was founded on March 1, 1868 at the University of Virginia by Robertson Howard, Julian Edward Wood, James Benjamin Sclater Jr., Frederick Southgate Taylor, Littleton Waller Tazewell Bradford, and William Alexander. The fraternity expanded rapidly, as the second chapter was formed at Davidson College on March 1, 1869. With more and more chapters being established, Pi Kappa Alpha’s first official convention took place in December of 1874 in Richmond, Virginia.

As for their philanthropic efforts, the Pi Kappa Alpha Foundation was founded in 1948. This foundation raises money for numerous causes, including scholarships, leadership programs, chapter house facilities, and honoring Pike members who died while serving in the military.

UFC President Dana White, who has long flip-flopped on the issue, is now saying that a mega fight between UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather will happen, in his opinion.

McGregor and Mayweather have been publicly flirting with the idea of the super fight for some time now. The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas has reportedly been booked for June 10, though an official confirmation remains nonexistent.

Even though no confirmations have been offered, White believes there’s simply too much money to be made for this showdown not to come to fruition.

“I do. I do think it’s going to happen,” White said recently. “I think it’s going to be a tough deal, there’s obviously a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people so that always makes it tougher.

“On the flipside, there’s so much money involved, I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen.”

If unconfirmed reports are to be believed, the two fighters have agreed on a date and a financial contract for their alleged boxing match. However, further details must be hammered out as well.

Both fighters are Vegas regulars, but Mayweather has an affinity for the MGM Grand. The T-Mobile Arena can hold 20,000 fans, which may not be enough for what could be the biggest payday in both boxing and mixed martial arts history.

Mayweather announced last week that he was coming out of retirement to fight McGregor. The two have engaged in some verbal sparring over the last year, stoking the excitement of fans across the world.

Will it actually happen? We sure hope so.
