There Are A Bunch Of Reasons To Watch ‘Love’ On Netflix, But Gillian Jacobs Is The Main One

I don’t know why I watch Netflix’s Love. I’m not usually a sitcom guy, but it had Judd Apatow’s name attached to it and Netflix slings the straight dope so I figured I’d give it a whirl. Plus, at 30-minutes an episode, you can never go wrong. Being able to crush an entire season in a day is always a perk.

Turns out, it’s a cute little show. And that’s all because of the intoxicating charisma of lead actress Gillian Jacobs.

Jacobs, 34, is an American actress known for portraying Britta Perry on the comedy series Community and stars as Mickey Dobbs on the Netflix series Love. Jacobs has also appeared as Mimi-Rose Howard on the HBO series Girls and has appeared in films such as Gardens of the Night (2008), The Lookalike (2014), Life Partners (2014), Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015), Don’t Think Twice (2016), and Brother Nature (2016).

Jacobs’ big break came in March 2009 when she joined the cast of the NBC comedy Community as Britta Perry, a high school dropout who aspires to become a psychologist. After Community went off the air, Jacobs was cast to star as Mickey in the Netflix original comedy series Love.

And so here we are. She’s cute, she’s hilarious, and she stars in one of Netflix’s most binge-able shows. And even if you don’t like sitcoms, Gillian Jacobs makes them worth watching.

Berglind Icey: Hottest Photos Of The Icelandic Actress & Model

Berglind Icey is one fiery Icelandic export. As an international model, she’s earned the title of Miss Hawaiian Tropic, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Ibiza, among others. Icey is also a former competitive swimmer.

Berglind was born in Hafnarfjorour, Iceland on June 4, 1977. She first entered the global stage of modeling at only 15-years-old. In 2001, Icey appeared in her first feature film, The Animal. She landed a role in another Rob Schneider flick a year later, The Hot Chick.

In 2002, Icey received a minor role in the film The Master of Disguise. A year later, she secured a much larger role, as a co-host for a game show called Cram for 56 episodes. The description for that game show sounded like a cruel and amusing mix of trivia and sleep deprivation. The contestants are sent off to a warehouse, where they will stay awake for 24-hours, cramming trivia questions and jokes into their noggin. They’ll use this information to hopefully win the game show, all the while performing physical stunts and attempting to stay awake. Sounds a bit like college.

Icey currently lives in Los Angeles, California. And oh, by the way, she has a license to drive a freakin’ army tank. She once said, “The most daring thing I’ve done is driving an army tank full speed through a house.” Pretty bad ass, right?

A group of environmental activists, calling themselves the ‘anonymous environmental activist collective’, released video of them vandalizing of Donald Trump’s golf courses.

The environmentalists broke into the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California and carved the phrase ‘NO MORE TIGERS, NO MORE WOODS’ near the fifth hole’s green. The course cost around $250 million dollars to build.

According to The Washington Post, the group snuck onto Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes in the middle of the night and used gardening tools to carve the words “NO MORE TIGERS. NO MORE WOODS.” into the fifth green.

via The Washington Post:

In a statement sent to The Washington Post, the group said the vandalism was carried out in response to the Trump administration’s “blatant disregard” for the environment. “In response to the president’s recent decision to gut our existing protection policies, direct action was conceived and executed on the green of his California golf course in the form of a simple message: NO MORE TIGERS. NO MORE WOODS,” the statement said.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the department received a call for service Sunday morning about grass being dug up around hole five at the golf club. The spokesman said the department sent a deputy to the scene to determine whether the damage constituted an act of vandalism or whether it was accidental.

The message was carved into the green using gardening tools and took less than one hour to accomplish, according to a member of the group who discussed the project with The Washington Post on the condition of anonymity.

The 18-hole, 7,300-yard course that overlooks the  Pacific Ocean was ranked as the 43rd best course in California by Golf Digest.

By Pairing Emily Ratajkowski & A Dog, DKNY May Have Just Released The Greatest Ad Of All Time

Good on you, DKNY. Emily Ratajkowski could sell me a pile of used hypodermic needles in her sleep, so having her prance around the streets of New York in her lingerie can get me to do just about anything. Even though I’ve never been much of a crossdresser, if anyone could convince me to purchase a pair, it’s her.

Props to DKNY for some good old fashioned marketing 101 right here. Just because of this 45-second long video, I went over to their website. Even if you have zero interest in purchasing a bra, the photoshoot alone is worth the quick scroll.

As much as I love Emily Ratajkowski, I think it’s time she gives up on the whole acting thing and heads back to modeling full time. This is the type of work she should be doing. No more bullshit (like playing Zac Effron’s girlfriend in a movie about taking molly), strictly modeling from here on out.

Montana Fishburne, the troubled elder daughter of The Matrix actor Laurence Fishburne, was arrested in Florida for a DUI.

Montana, 25, a former porn star who lives in Fort Lauderdale, was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol on the morning of Saturday, March 10, after getting in an accident on I-96.

Fishburne was charged with DUI, DUI with property damage, and DUI with blood alcohol readings above .15. She spent the night at the Broward County Sheriff’s Office jail. The three charges carry the potential of a three-year sentence in a state prison.

She was released Saturday afternoon on $2,500-bond, according to records.

When speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2010, Montana said that her actor father Lawrence was “embarrassed” of her:

I did talk to my father. He told me he was embarrassed by me. My mom just says, “I love you.” We don’t talk about it every day. She wants me to be happy and doesn’t want me to get dragged into the dark side of porn.

Laurence Fishburne had Montana with his ex-wife, actress Hajna O. Moss.

Former Penn State Athletic Director Pleads Guilty For His Role In The Jerry Sandusky Case

Tim Curley, the former athletic director at Penn State University, pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges for his role in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation case. The guilty plea comes more than five years after the Sandusky scandal came to light.

Curley, the ex-AD of PSU, entered the plea Monday, March 13, in Harrisburg, Pennslyvania. Similarly, former senior vice president Gary Schultz also pleaded guilty Monday to endangering the welfare of children. According to the agreement, Curley and Schultz could possibly testify for the prosecution at next week’s scheduled trial of former Penn State president Graham Spanier.

According to Penn Live, Curley and Schultz entered their pleas before Judge John Boccabella.

Via Penn Live:

They each pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count that carries a maximum possible penalty of a $10,000 fine and five years in prison. The judge said there was no agreement on the sentence they will receive.

“There is no provision of the agreement that would limit my ability to impose sentence as I see fit,” Boccabella said.

The guilty pleas specifically related to a report by former assistant coach Mike McQueary that he saw Jerry Sandusky sexually assaulting a boy in a shower at Penn State in February 2001.  He reported what he saw to Coach Joe Paterno, who in turn reported it to his supervisor, Curley.

Curley entered his plea first, followed by Schultz. Both mean answered questions posed by the prosecutor and the judge, but did not otherwise speak.

In the years that Curley and Schultz have been awaiting trial, Sandusky was convicted and imprisoned on charges of child sexual abuse, while former graduate assistant and whistleblower Mike McQueary won a civil lawsuit against Penn State. Similarly, Penn State has paid millions of dollars in retribution to Sandusky’s victims.

What Happened?

Tim Curley, the former athletic director at Penn State University, and Gary Schultz the former senior vice president of PSU, have pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges for their roles in the Jerry Sandusky child molestation case.

Rep. Wes Retherford, a Republican congressman from Ohio, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and improper handling of a gun after officials found him unconscious in his car at a McDonald’s drive-thru window.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Retherford, 32, was taken into custody at 7:43 A.M. on Sunday, March 12, after local police responded to a report of a man passed out behind the wheel at the McDonald’s in Liberty Township, Ohio.

When responding officers searched Retherford’s car, they found a loaded handgun on the car’s seat. The 32-year-old politician was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence and felony improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. He was booked at the county jail.

Via Cincinnati Inquirer:

Retherford, 32, of Hamilton, is accused of driving while intoxicated to the McDonald’s, at 5500 Liberty Square Drive, and having a loaded firearm in the seat of his vehicle, according to a Butler County Sheriff’s Office news release. The Republican lawmaker faces charges of improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, a felony, and operating a vehicle while under the influence, a first-degree misdemeanor. He was still being held in the Butler County Jail as of Sunday afternoon, according to the jail’s website.

Retherford’s arrest came the morning after the Butler County GOP’s Lincoln Day Dinner, which Retherford attended along with several other state lawmakers and 2018 statewide contenders.

Retherford is a retired U.S. Marine veteran who is married with two children, a son and daughter. In addition to representing the 51st District in the Ohio House of Representatives, Retherford works as a mortician’s assistant at a local funeral home.

Retherford, a resident of Hamilton, Ohio, faces charges of OVI and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle and is
expected to appear in court for his arraignment on Monday, March 13. If convicted of the felony weapons charge, Retherford would not be allowed to continue serving as a state representative.

March Madness 2017: Top 5 Best Buzzer Beaters Of All Time

$

0

Maybe I’m a just sick and horrible person who loves to watch the world burn, but there’s something special to me about watching college kids cry whenever they lose in heartbreaking fashion during the NCAA Tournament. Let me also say that my school, the University of South Carolina, has never had to deal with that type of heartbreak, because up until recently our basketball program has basically been nonexistent. Anyways, back to me being a sociopath. The tears I’m looking for come from a gut-wrenching buzzer beater, one that ends their teams season in the blink of an eye and that’s part of the pageantry of March Madness.

Watching a buzzer beater in real time is a special moment, because even if it’s an easy shot, it’s still crazy to see the ball go through the hoop, and crushing the hopes and dreams of a single team, while the winning team is on top of the world for that very moment in time. The NCAA Tournament is my absolute favorite sporting event of the year, and it’s not even close. I’m more of a football fan than a basketball fan, and while don’t get me wrong, there are definitely thrilling finishes in football, but none compare to March Madness.

I’ve been watching the NCAA Tournament for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been fortunate enough to see numerous buzzer beaters. The tournament kicks off next week, so naturally, I expect there to be a few more buzzer beaters for us to remember for the rest of our lives because that’s just how the tournament goes. So being that the generous person that I am, I decided to go ahead and rank the five best buzzer beaters that ever occurred during the NCAA Tournament.

5. 2016: Northern Iowa vs Texas – 1st Round

Our first buzzer beater comes from as early as last year in the first round of the tourney. While it was only the first round, it doesn’t get more heartbreaking than that for Texas fans. To go from tying up the game with under three seconds left to having your season end on a half-court shot from 11 seed Northern Iowa is just brutal. On the flip side, it gets no better than that if you’re a Northern Iowa fan. To not only pull off the upset but the way in which you pulled off the upset is something you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

4. 1998: Valparaiso vs Ole Miss – 1st Round

The Bryce Drew Shot. It’s one of those shots that they show in every NCAA Tournament video and will continue to show for the rest of time. 13 seed Valpo had no business even making this game close with Ole Miss, who was sneaky good with 22 wins that year. Even though this was just a first round game, everyone knows that the first and second round games usually provide some of the best games of the tournament. The degree of difficulty of the shot was absolutely insane. Having to inbound the ball from under your own basket with two seconds left on the clock down two, the only chance you’d have is to get off a perfect pass, which Valpo did, then found an open Drew who had to get the shot off as soon as it touched his hands, which he did. I love that shot and I love seeing it every March

3. 2016: Villanova vs North Carolina – National Championship

I should have this higher because I feel like third on this list doesn’t do this shot justice. North Carolina’s Marcus Paige had just hit one of the craziest shots in tournament history to tie up the ball game with just under five seconds left and I think probably would have won the game in overtime. Unfortunately for Tar Heel fans, they had to suffer through one of the most crushing losses in the history of all of college sports, as Villanova’s Kris Jenkins hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, giving the Wildcats their first championship since 1985, and got the monkey off of head coach Jay Wright’s back. It was also an awesome shot because I got to see it in real time, which is always electric, and I had money on Villanova, which was even more exciting. This will be a highlight that’s in every March Madness video for the rest of time.

2. 1992: Duke vs Kentucky – Elite 8

This is probably the most iconic shot in the history of the NCAA Tournament and should be first on the list, but because it wasn’t in the Final Four or championship game, it is not. Anyway, this game between two of the most iconic programs in college basketball history gave us an ending that fans all wanted. Reigning national champion Duke was down one with two seconds left on the clock, and much like the Bryce Drew Shot, Duke forward Grant Hill had to get off a perfect pass inbounding from under his own basket to give the Blue Devils any shot. And sure enough, he hit everyone’s least favorite Blue Devil ever in Christian Laettner, who turned around to hit a shot at the buzzer, advancing Duke to the Final Four, and eventually their second straight national title. It was forever known as “The Shot” and is shown every March. If you’re a Kentucky fan, that shot shakes you to your core.

1. 1983: NC State vs Houston – National Championship

Unless you’re a fan of the team that’s the favorite, everyone loves an underdog, and there was no greater underdog than the 1983 NC State Wolfpack, who had absolutely no business being in this game. The Houston Cougars, with their Phi Slama Jama, were arguably one of the most talented college basketball teams in the history of the sports, with players such as Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler. They were one of the four one seeds going into the 1983 NCAA Tournament, and a heavy favorite to win the whole thing. NC State almost didn’t even make the tournament that year, and if they didn’t win the ACC Tournament to get the automatic bid, they probably wouldn’t have. The six seed Wolfpack made their way through the tourney, and took on the heavily favored Cougars, and played them tough all game. With seconds left on the clock, NC State had the ball with a tie game and a chance to win. Jason Whittenburg put up a three-pointer that came up short, but in comes Lorenzo Charles who catches the shot under the hoop and puts it back in at the buzzer, pulling off the monumental upset. The image of head coach Jim Valvano running around on the court looking for someone to hug is one of my favorite moments in sports history.

Johnny Manziel Getting Engaged To Bre Tiesi Proves We Can All Be Saved

If you don’t know, now you know: the Johnny Manziel comeback tour is full steam ahead.

Earlier in the year, we wrote about how ex-NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel seemed to have begun the new year with a new outlook on life. After tweeting about the way he was in 2016 and the way he wants to be seen in 2017, it seems as though Johnny Football is back on the right track. While some pointed to maturity or financial reasons for Manziel’s newfound straight and narrow, we argued that the reason for Manziel’s resurgence was that he got himself a new girlfriend.

Well, turns out we were right, as that new girlfriend has turned into a new fiance.

Ole’ Johnny Football took Tiesi to Paris, where he popped the big question, just 12 months removed from allegedly assaulting his previous girlfriend.

F*cking Johnny Manziel, man. The dude has nine lives. Now, we just need him back in the NFL on Sundays. Then the comeback will truly be complete.

AP Top 25 College Basketball Rankings 2017: Week 19 AP Poll

The final rankings of the year for college basketball are in and Villanova is your new No. 1 in the nation. Conference tournaments always tend to shake up these final polls and they certainly did this week. Six top-10 teams took losses in their respective tournaments, along with Duke and Arizona making huge leaps.

Last week’s top team, Kansas, was upset early by TCU in the Big 12 quarterfinals, dropping them now to behind Gonzaga. The change in the polls didn’t completely alter the NCAA Tournament seedings, as UNC still captured a one seed, despite losing to Duke in the ACC semifinals.

Arizona jumped all the way to No. 4 this week, but it wasn’t enough for the Wildcats to snag the last one seed in the Big Dance. Duke went all the way from 14 up to No. 7 after plowing their way to conference title. They were even considered for a one seed after this weekend, which is remarkable because the Blue Devils were being considered a five seed just a few weeks ago.

With that here is the Final AP Top 25 poll of this college basketball season.

March Madness Upsets: Top 10 Biggest First Round Upsets Ever

T.J. Sorrentine hits big shots in NCAA Tournament

Jim McIsaac/Getty Images

Two things come to mind when March Madness begins. First, the NCAA Tournament brings excitement and potential buzzer-beaters every season. However, the greatest aspect of the NCAA Tournament are the first-round upsets. They seem to happen every March and fans get treated to monumental games on the first two days of the tournament. No matter who is participating in these games, the tension rises when a heavy favorite feels their season is on the line. When schools with very little name brand recognition compete with the big boys, something special is created. Now let’s relive the memories of past NCAA Tournament first-round upsets.

Here are 10 of the most memorable first-round upsets in NCAA Tournament history.

10. No. 15 Santa Clara Broncos vs No. 2 Arizona Wildcats 64-61 (1993)

The basketball world had already seen a glimpse of Steve Nash. The freshman point guard showed flashes of brilliance during his first season with the Santa Clara Broncos. He helped lead the Broncos to the West Coast Conference title. Although they weren’t able to capture any major upsets during the regular season, the Broncos performed well in losses to UCLA and California. Well, the experience in those games gave the 16-11 Broncos an advantage. Still, the Arizona Wildcats were a heavy favorite due to a star-studded cast. They had Chris Mills, Khalid Reeves, and Damon Stoudamire all scoring double figures. After the Broncos missed four straight foul shots, the Wildcats had one final shot to tie the game. Instead, Stoudemire’s shot hit the back of the rim. It was the second time a 15-seeded team won in the first round.

9. No. 15 Richmond Spiders knock off No. 2 Syracuse Orange 73-69 (1991)

The Syracuse Orange were fresh off of winning the 1991 Big East title. Meanwhile, the Richmond Spiders represented the Colonial for the second year in a row. With Billy Owens leading the way, the Orange were a trendy pick to make the Final Four. Instead, the Spiders became the first 15-seeded team to earn a first round upset in the field of 64. The Spiders jumped out to a 44-38 halftime lead and held on for a 73-69 win.Three years prior, the Spiders defeated the Indiana Hoosiers as the No. 14 seed. Therefore, they came into the game with confidence. This was also the last game to tip-off on Thursday night.

8. No. 13 Princeton Tigers vs. No. 4 UCLA Bruins 43-41 (1996)

Watch out for the backdoor cut. The No. 4 UCLA Bruins were warned and prepared for the No. 13 Princeton Tigers. The Bruins were also the defending national champions with an eye on a second title. However, the Tigers had something else in mind. With the game tied at 41, the Tigers earned a necessary defensive stop and grabbed the rebound. Once again, the Bruins needed to answer the call defensively. They didn’t. The Tigers ran their motion offense and hit the Bruins with a double backdoor cut by the same player. It was beautiful to watch and the Tigers finally had their marquee win in the NCAA Tournament when Toby Bailey missed a last-second jump shot.

7. No. 13 Vermont Catamounts vs. No. 4 Syracuse Orange 60-57 (2005)

When T.J. Sorrentine hit a deep 3-pointer to put the No. 13 Vermont Catamounts up 59-55 in overtime, everyone knew the dream was real. The No. 4 Syracuse Orange had Gerry McNamara and Hakim Warrick leading the way. The Orange had a reputation for winning big games. None of that mattered in the first-round in 2005. The were never able to pull away and the seasoned veterans of the Catamounts were ready for the moment. It was their third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament, so the seniors knew they had one chance to make their mark. The Catamounts also came into the game with a (24-6) record.

6. No. 15 Coppin State Eagles vs. No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks 78-65 (1997)

When the No. 15 Coppin State Eagles headed to Pittsburgh to face the No. 2 South Carolina Gamecocks, the MEAC had never won an NCAA Tournament game. Well, the Eagles took care of that in their first round matchup against the Gamecocks. It’s one thing for a No. 2 seed to lose. It’s a different story when a heavy favorite loses by 13 points in the first round. The 78-65 win is the biggest point spread for a 15-seed. This was also head coach Fang Mitchell’s only NCAA Tournament win.

5. No. 13 Valparaiso Crusaders vs. No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels 70-69 (1998)

“A miracle. An absolute miracle. Bryce Drew has done it for Valparaiso.” The No. 13 Valparaiso Crusaders and No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels played in an epic first-round matchup. However, neither team could make a shot down the stretch. The Rebels were leading 69-67 and holding on for dear life. In the final two minutes, the Crusaders missed three open 3-point attempts in a row. They also had a layup blocked at the rim by Ansu Sesay. Therefore, when the Sesay was fouled with 4.1 seconds left, he had a chance to salt the game away at the foul line. He missed the first. Then he missed the second. The Crusaders got the ball out of bounds with 2.5 seconds left. Moments later, Jamie Sykes threw the pass to Bill Jenkins and he tipped the ball to Bryce Drew on the curl. Release. Rotation. Splash. The Crusaders win 70-69.

4. No. 14 Weber State vs. No. 3 North Carolina Tar Heels 76-74 (1999)

Harold ‘The Show’ Arceneaux put on a performance for the ages. Out of all of the big schools in college basketball, the North Carolina Tar Heels are the least likely team to lose in the first-round of the NCAA Tournament. However, their most infamous moment came against the No. 14 Weber State Wildcats. Arceneaux scored 36 points in the shocking upset, leaving defenders in his wake. The Tar Heels had no answers as they made the trip home early.

3. No. 15 Hampton vs. No. 2 Iowa State Cyclones 58-57 (2001)

The No. 15 Hampton Pirates ended the game on a 14-2 run. With the No. 2 Iowa State Cyclones leading 55-44, the game seemed to be well in hand. In a matter of minutes, the game got tight and the Cyclones were unable to hit a shot. The Pirates shut them down defensively while making clutch shots to finish of the shocker. Jamaal Tinsley had one final attempt to save a victory but his easy layup missed long. During one of the most iconic moments, Hampton players were carrying coach Steve Merfeld in the air.

2. No. 15 FGCU Eagles vs. No. 2 Georgetown Hoyas 78-68 (2013)

The birth of “Dunk City” hit the nation on this night. When the No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast Eagles took center stage against the No. 2 Georgetown Hoyas not many people knew what they were about. The Eagles officially became a Division I member in 2011. By the 2012-13 season, they were allowed to participate in postseason tournament. During Andy Enfield’s second-year as coach, he led the Eagles to the Atlantic Sun title. They never had a winning season prior to 2013, so this seemed like an easy victory for the Hoyas. Well, the Eagles had other ideas. After a slow start in the first half, the Eagles bombarded the Hoyas with an assortment of dunks and uptempo madness. The Hoyas tried to make a late comeback but they fell short, 78-68. This game has been a crossroads for both programs. The Eagles have won over 20 games in the past five seasons. Meanwhile, the Hoyas have a single 20-win season since this loss.

1. No. 15 Lehigh Mountain Hawks vs. No. 2 Duke Blue Devils 75-70 (2012)

The No. 15 Lehigh Mountain Hawks came into their battle with the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils with the utmost confidence. They had the unstoppable C.J. McCollum slicing through the Blue Devils’ defense. The Mountain Hawks also had point guard Mackey McKnight. He controlled tempo for the Mountain Hawks, while Gabe Knutson shot perfect from the field in the 75-70 win. Austin Rivers and Mason Plumlee led the Blue Devils with 19 points apiece. Meanwhile, McCollum led the way with 30 points.

Larson was able to use her singing and acting talents in the cult classic Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Even though the film only grossed $47.7 million from a $60 million film budget, the film did bring some attention to the young actress with its dedicated following.

From there, Larson took on supporting roles in the successful reboot 21 Jump street and the Joseph Gordon-Levitt film Don Jon. Larson was able to show off her talents as an actor, particularly with her performance in the 2013 indie film Short Term 12. The film was highly praised for its story and Larson’s performance garnered a ton of acclaim.

From there she was in a mix of box office hits such as The Gambler and Trainwreck, while also taking small parts in indie flicks such as Digging for Fire and The Spectacular Now.

The 2016 Oscars thrust Larson into the national spotlight for her performance in the 2015 flick Room. While Short Term 12 showed she had the potential, Room proved that Larson was here to stay. Not only did the Oscar win propel her forward, but it gave Room a huge sales bump, with the film grossing $36.3 million out of a $13 million budget.

Next, Larson will play Carol Danvers (aka Captian Marvel) in the Marvel cinematic universe and has already kicked off 2017 by getting top billing in the big-budget film Kong: Skull Island, which has already grossed $185 million in its opening weekend. Larson still has many other projects to come out this year, including the lead role in the Jeannette Walls memoir The Glass Castle.

Larson’s fame is still on the up and up, with many fans waiting to see what the actress will do next. She has proven that there truly is nothing she cannot do, so expect her net worth to grow over time.

Kelly Herron, a 36-year-old Washington woman, managed to fight off a random attacker just weeks after beginning a self-defense class.

Herron, 36, was training for an upcoming marathon by doing a 10-mile run in Golden Gardens Park when she stopped in one of the restrooms and was trapped by the assailant, who was identified as repeated sex offender Gary Steiner when he was arrested.

Herron said the Steiner threw her to the ground and began punching her before she was able to crawl into a nearby stall. Herron says the man followed her into the stall and repeatedly tried to turn her onto her stomach.

Via Click Orlando:

“It’s a full on fight. As woman you are conditioned to know that that is how a man rapes you,” Herron said. “Thank God for a pair of good compression pants.” Herron said that’s when her training, that she’d learned three weeks prior in a self-defense class offered by her job, kicked in.

“Time stopped. I remembered what the instructor said in class, which was to hit with the side of my hands…Hard bones in soft fleshy places. I realized this doesn’t have to be a fair fight,” Herron said. “I had one hand to use so I just started clawing his face and punching him in the face with the side of my hand.”

Herron eventually managed to lock the man in the stall after jamming the door shut and police arrested Gary Steiner, a registered sex offender, on the scene.

Not only was Herron able to heroically escape, but did so while screaming a badass battle cry: “Not today motherf*cker.”

“All I kept screaming during the attack was ‘not today m***********. I was screaming it like an animal. It was the most vicious savage part of my being. There was no way I was going to let this guy rape me,” Herron said.

Herron suffered bruises and needed stitches above her left eye, but was otherwise alright.

As for Steiner, who was charged with attempted second-degree rape and second-degree assault with sexual motivation, remains in jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.

Former Mayor Pleads Guilty To Selling Meth After Getting Caught In A Sting Operation

Scott Silverthorne, a former Virginia mayor, pled guilty to distributing methamphetamine after he was caught in a ‘drugs-for-sex’ sting operation during the summer of 2016.

Silverthorne, a 51-year-old former mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, entered a plea deal on Monday, March 13, in Fairfax County Circuit Court. Silverthorne had been free on bond since his August arrest, however, a judge ordered him held in jail until his June 9 sentencing.

While Silverthorne faces up to 40 years in jail and a fine of up to $500,000, his attorney Brian Drummond says the disgraced public official will likely get a light sentence or probation due to his lack of a previous criminal record.

Via Washington Post:

Using the online moniker, Silverthorne, 51, arranged an orgy with an undercover police officer in exchange for methamphetamine on a sex site called Bare Back Real Time, the prosecutor said. Police had received a tip about Silverthorne’s activity and set up a fake account to lure him last summer.

The sting ended Silverthorne’s political career, drew national attention and, on Monday, landed him in jail, after he pleaded guilty in Fairfax County Circuit Court to one count of distributing drugs.

In a surprise move that shocked a group of supporters who had gathered in the courtroom, Circuit Judge Grace Burke Carroll remanded Silverthorne to custody until his sentencing on the charge June 9. Silverthorne had remained free on his own personal recognizance since his August arrest.

Despite losing his job with the National Association of Manufacturers, filing for bankruptcy, losing his home to foreclosure, and being diagnosed with cancer, Silverthorne was re-elected as mayor in May 2016, a couple of months before his arrest.

Silverthorne’s late father Frederick was also mayor of Fairfax in the 1970s and early 1980s.

That Tim Tebow… He’s Doing… Things

Well, well, well, folks. Here we go. If it hasn’t already begun, the baseball version of Tebowmania is officially here.

As COED’s resident Mets fan, I’ve got to say… didn’t see this coming from ole’ Timmy Heisman. Even as a Jets fan who is well aware of Tebow’s cuck-job of Mark Sanchez from way back when, I’ve still always liked and rooted for the dude. He’s like Forrest Gump but intelligent. At least, that’s how I picture him.

But as much as I may have hoped for Tebow’s success, I’ve never really had faith in his skill. I knew he was an average quarterback who was going to flame out once teams had tape on him. I KNEW he was going to destroy Mark Sanchez’s confidence and cause the Jets to implode.

But I also thought I knew that his whole baseball career would be a gigantic sham, and yet here I am, about half a year later, watching Tebow rack in his first hit and make relatively impressive outfield plays.

Who knows? Maybe Tebow pulls off a literal miracle and fights his way onto a roster one day. I’ll tell you what, I couldn’t root against him even if I wanted to. The 2017 Mets have as good a chance to win a title as any Mets team in my 24-year lifetime, so you bet your ass I’ll be rooting for every ounce of that team, even if that means watching Tebow go 1-4 three times a week.

So, here you have it, Tim Tebow’s spring training hit and first highlight-worthy catch. Take it for what it is.

Winter Storm Stella 2017: Forecast, Map, Path & Live Updates

Yana Paskova/Getty Images

Winter Storm Stella is expected to hit the northeast this Monday night with potentially the largest snowfall of the year. This mega snowstorm is likely to last well into Tuesday, and will effect eight states along the east coast.

A nor’easter is forming in the Carolina and heading north. Roughly 19 million people will live in areas that have a blizzard warning in place. Blizzard warnings have been sent out in New York City, northern New Jersey, southern Connecticut, northern Rhode Island, southeastern New Hampshire, southern Maine, and western/central Massachusetts.

Meanwhile in Pennsylvania, Governor Tom Wolfe signed a Proclamation of Disaster Emergency and announced travel restrictions. “It looks like we’re really going to get hit hard in just about every part of Pennsylvania,” said Wolfe in a press conference earlier today. Similarly, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency for New Jersey.

A lot of snow may be coming your way! The storm will stretch from the northeast to the Midwest. Some places in the northeast will be covered in more than a foot of snow!

Winter Storm Stella 2017 Forecast

On Monday night, snow will first begin to fall in the mid-Atlantic region, in cities such as Baltimore, Washington DC, and Philadelphia. By late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, you’re likely to see snow develop in New York City and southern New England.

You probably won’t see the wrath of Stella until Tuesday. During the daytime hours, large mounds of snow is expected to fall upon the northeast. The coastal areas are likely to be hit the worst, with (near) blizzard conditions prevailing over the area. Strong wind gusts as high as 40 or 50 mph is also expected on Tuesday. These heavy winds couple with heavy snowfall can cause power outages and tree damage.

The storm will likely persist in much of New England throughout Tuesday night. Light snowfall will pervade further south of New England. The worst of the storm will be over, and by Wednesday, light snowfall will cover the northeast.

By Thursday, Stella will be gone, but the freezing cold will remain. Be careful while traveling on roads, as they may still be icy from Winter Storm Stella.

How Much Snow Will There Be?

The amount of snow will vary from city to city and region to region. Boston and New York City are both expected to receive 12-18 inches of snow. Other cities that may face up to a foot of snow are Portland, Scranton, Albany, Worcester, and Hartford.

New Jersey is expecting anywhere from 4-24 inches of snow. As a result of this uncertain forecast, the New Jersey Governor declared a state of emergency, and the National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning in the following 13 counties: Sussex, Warren, Morris, Passaic, Bergen, Hudson, Hunterdon, Essex, Union, Somerset, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Mercer.

Baltimore, Maryland may be facing 6-10 inches of snow. Meanwhile, Washington DC may be looking at 4-8 inches.

The snow may suck, but the wind will be even worse. During Monday night through Tuesday, 50 mph winds will sweep through areas with heavy snowfall. If you’re city is facing a blizzard or near blizzard conditions, expect intense 50 mph winds to zip though your area.

What More Can I Expect From Winter Storm Stella?

Meteorologists are calling Winter Storm Stella a “weather bomb.” That sounds pretty scary, huh?

But before Stella becomes a “weather bomb.” First, she undergoes a two-part process called “bombogenesis.” The storm moves out over the ocean, and then the center of the storm quickly becomes ultra-intense. This turns into a weather bomb, which can lead to hurricane force winds in areas effected by the snowstorm.

To some March 14th is just another day closer to St. Patrick’s Day, but to many others it is known as Pi Day. This “holiday” is the annual celebration of the constant of the mathematical term pi, and 3, 1, and 4 are the first significant digits. This day is fairly unique to the United States because we use the date format of month, day, and then year.

The first large-scale celebration of the day was in 1988, which was organized by physicist Larry Shaw at the San Francisco Exploratorium. The U.S. House of Representatives officially recognized March 14th as National Pi Day back in 2009.

There are plenty of ways to celebrate Pi Day, and looking at the best collection of memes is definitely one of them.
