Tom Hiddleston has quickly risen from a no-name actor to one of the more in-demand Hollywood stars out there. That trend continues with the release of Kong: Skull Island, which sees Hiddleston in the lead role as James Conrad.

Hiddleston, 36, has been acting since the early 2000’s, but really came to international prominence in 2011’s Thor. Since then he’s worked with acclaimed directors such as Woody Allen, Steven Spielberg and Guillermo del Toro while continuing as a key figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And, as we all know, he dated Taylor Swift for a hot minute.

Hiddleston cut his teeth in theater and television. His first on-screen appearance came in 2001 on The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickelby, before he graduated from the fancy-shmancy Royal Academy of Art in 2005.

During this time, Hiddleston appeared in a handful of stage productions and British TV series such as Suburban Shootout and The Gathering Storm.

2011 – 2012

Hiddleston rocketed up the Hollywood ladder with his well-received role as Loki in 2011’s Thor. The film earned nearly $450 million worldwide with Hiddleston emerging as the movie’s breakout performance. Following Thor, Hiddleston dabbled in prestige projects with Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris and Steven Spielberg’s War Horse.

But the actor’s true coming out party was undoubtedly 2012’s The Avengers, which saw his Loki return to the MCU as the film’s main villain. The Avengers earned $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming the third-highest grossing film in history at the time. Along with the immense commercial success, The Avengers was credited with forever changing the Hollywood blockbuster landscape and the superhero genre.

Not bad for a B-list comic book character.

2013 – 2014

In 2013, Hiddleston reprised his role as Loki in Thor: The Dark World, which earned more than $644 million worldwide. He also appeared in the indie Only Lovers Left Alive and onstage in National Theater Live’s Coriolanus in the lead role.

2015 – 2016

In 2015, Hiddleston scored good reviews for his turns in High-Rise and Crimson Peak. But 2016 was a really big year for the actor.

Hiddleston starred alongside Hugh Laurie as a spy in The Night Manager miniseries, earning his first Emmy nomination. More importantly, the role pushed him into the conversation as a potential candidate to be the next James Bond. Though EON Productions, the studio that produces the 007 films, haven’t commented, Hiddleston has become a popular choice among fans.

This year will be a big one for Hiddleston.

First, he has Kong: Skull Island hitting theaters. The actor received top billing in the film which also includes Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman and John C. Reilly. This could give Hiddleston a second franchise to lord over, as Warner Bros. has plans to crossover their Hulk and Godzilla properties in the near future.

In addition, Hiddleston will be returning as Loki for the fourth time in Thor: Ragnarok which is set to hit theaters in November.

The 2017 American Athletic Conference Tournament is set to run from Thursday, March 9 through Sunday, March 12 at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. This is just the fourth ever AAC Tournament, but don’t let its newness fool you. These schools can definitely play, as SMU is ranked 12th in the country and Cincinnati is ranked 15th.

Even though there are 11 teams in the AAC Tournament field, it will most likely be a two-team race between SMU and Cincinnati. The Mustangs won the regular season title and earned the #1 seed by posting a gaudy 17-1 record in conference play.

I know we joke a lot about how unintelligent fast food workers are, but that joke just became a lot more serious.

A new burger-flipping robot has been invented by Miso Robotics and it raises the question of converting the fast food industry to a fully automated system. Flippy, as the robot is called, flips burgers (shocker).

The robotic arm includes a hollow hockey puck at the end of it that is used to scoop and flip burgers back onto the grill. The whole thing would be a lot more impressive if it didn’t give me PTSD flashbacks to Terminator. Check out Flippy in action.

Once the burgers are done, Flippy plates those bad boys and lets a puny human finish the job with toppings and whatnot. The goal is to improve human safety in the workplace by giving the “dangerous” jobs to machines (giving them a perfect reason to overthrow us down the road). Flippy can also be programmed to help with prep, plating, and frying. Did we learn nothing from Westworld?

Flippy is a mobile device, stationed on a cart that us two-legged humans can push around. But will mainstream fast food chains be interested? McDonald’s and Burger Kind have passed on mechanic help in the past. If an employee burns themselves or is out sick, the manager can just call a replacement. But what are they supposed to do if Flippy breaks down and no one in-house is trained on the grill?

We know humans love robots and especially love convenience and ease. But is Flippy really the future of the restaurant industry or just a cool video to watch?

Canadian police are raiding marijuana dispensaries across the country, all belonging to Marc Emery. The investigation began after he and his wife were arrested at Pearson International Airport on their way to a pot festival in Europe.

Emery and his wife, Jodie, who are known as the ‘Prince and Princess of Pot’ were set to appear in court Thursday morning. The Emerys’ lawyer, Kirk Tousaw, said Toronto police have charged them trafficking cannabis. Both were held at the Toronto Police’s 51 Division following their arrests.

Furthermore, Vancouver police confirmed they raided the Emerys’ Cannabis Culture location on West Hastings.

As noon approached in Toronto, the Emerys had yet to make an appearance at Old City Hall court.

About a dozen supporters, medical marijuana advocates and pot dispensary stakeholders, as well as a manager of one of the Emerys’ Toronto marijuana dispensaries were at the courthouse Thursday morning. Toronto police would not comment to CBC Toronto about the arrests.

Emery and his wife run about a dozen marijuana shops in Canada under the Cannabis Culture banner. Marc Emery was released from a U.S. prison in 2014 after spending just over four years behind bars on charges of selling marijuana seeds in the United States.

Emery, born February 13, 1958, is a Canadian cannabis activist, entrepreneur, and politician. Emery has been an advocate cannabis policy reform and has been active in the New Democratic Party, the Freedom Party of Canada, the Marijuana Party of Canada, and the Conservative Party of Canada.

Emery has been jailed several times due to marijuana, most notably in 2009 when he served a five-year sentence in a U.S. federal prison for selling mail-order cannabis seeds into the US.

For the first time ever, the Ivy League will use a conference tournament to see which school earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. They are the last conference to adopt a postseason tournament, as they would previously give their automatic bid to the regular season champion.

Even though there are eight teams in the Ivy League, only the top four schools were invited to their inaugural conference tournament. The seeding ended up shaking out as follows: #1 Princeton (14-0), #2 Harvard (10-4), #3 Yale (9-5), and #4 Penn (6-8). Sigma Nu History

Sigma Nu was founded by James Frank Hopkins, Greenfield Quarles, and James McIlvaine Riley at the Virginia Military Institute on January 1, 1869. The fraternity grew rapidly, as their second chapter was formed at the University of Virginia in 1870. In 1883, Sigma Nu created their own magazine and the first issue of The Delta was published in April.

Sigma Nu’s first National Convention took place at the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee from July 9 – July 10, 1884. Since then, a National Convention is held every two years.

As for their current philanthropic efforts, they have the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation. Showing off the crazy depth of its conference, this is the second game between ranked opponents in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 ACC Tournament. We had #14 Duke and #10 Louisville face off earlier today, and tonight, #21 Virginia will take on #22 Notre Dame.

Virginia finished tied with Duke for fifth place in the ACC, posting an 11-7 record in conference play. Due to the Cavaliers losing their lone game against Duke this year, they were named the #6 seed in the ACC Tournament. This gave Virginia a first round bye, and they were able to top #14 Pittsburgh 75-63 in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals.

Notre Dame finished in a three-way tie for second place in the ACC with a 12-6 record in conference play. After the tiebreakers were determined, the Fighting Irish was awarded the #3 seed and a double bye. Tonight’s game will be Notre Dame’s first appearance in the 2017 ACC Tournament, and they certainly won’t be able to ease their way into the action.

There was a huge upset in the college basketball landscape today, as the TCU Horned Frogs shocked the world by beating the Kansas Jayhawks 85-82 in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. With the score tied at 82-82 with 2.5 seconds left, TCU’s Desmond Bane was fouled shooting a three-pointer. He calmly drilled all three free throws to put TCU up 85-82, and Kansas’ Devonte’ Graham’s couldn’t get a deep three-pointer to fall at the buzzer.

Ratajkowski is so mind-bendingly good looking I’m convinced she’s the next stage of human evolution. Apes, human, then whatever she is. That’s where were headed.  Whereas the Kardashians were forged from black magic, Emily Ratajkowski was carefully sculpted from the god’s marble.

And of all her qualities, her best one is being self-aware. She knows we all love her for her looks, she knows she’s famous because of it, so she indulges us. Every time she heads down to the beach, she makes sure we know. And for that, we thank her.

So this one came out of nowhere.

A couple of weeks ago, Netflix quietly dropped a trailer for a new original called Burning Sands. My memory is far from perfect, but I don’t remember reading or hearing about it anywhere at the time.

However, with the movie dropping tomorrow and a strong critical reception (83%) on Rotten Tomatoes, I decided to give the trailer a look.

I’ve found that Hollywood tends to overdramatize hazing, but this one looks pretty on point. Most fraternities walk a fine line between character building hazing and legit assault, and that’s the angle Burning Sands seems to be taking.

Burning Sands, directed by Gerard McMurray, from a screenplay by McMurray and Christine Berg, stars Trevor Jackson, Alfre Woodard, Steve Harris, Tosin Cole, DeRon Horton and Trevante Rhodes. It had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 24, 2017, and will be released on Netflix on March 10, 2017.

Maurice Watson Jr., 24, a basketball player at Creighton University, has been charged with first-degree sexual assault. Watson was accused of attacking a classmate last month.

The Bluejays point guard is accused of forcing a 19-year-old woman into a bathroom where he allegedly forced her to give him oral sex before raping her. Watson denied the allegations, claiming the sex with the woman was consensual. The alleged incident occurred on February 4 in Omaha, Nebraska.

However, despite Watson denying the claims, the woman’s blood-soaked underwear has been found and allegedly contains DNA evidence that implicates Watson of sexual assault.

He arrived at court with his parents on Wednesday, March 8 — his birthday — and waived his preliminary hearing. Douglas County Judge John Huber ruled that there was enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Beninato said in court that underwear from Watson’s 19-year-old accuser was sent to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for analysis, and DNA evidence was found “to substantiate the victim’s account.” Injuries to the woman’s vaginal area corroborate “nonconsensual penetration,” Beninato also said.

A different judge, Douglas County Judge Sheryl Lohaus, granted the woman’s protection order against Watson last Thursday.

An Ohio girl has gone missing just days after 17th birthday.

17-year-old Katarina Bitterman of Parma, Ohio has been missing since Saturday, March 4. Police said that Bitterman’s parents, who were out of town at the time, could not get in touch with Bitterman. Her family then asked some of Katarina’s friends to go to the house to check on her, but when the friends got there, Bitterman was gone.

According to a witness, Bitterman was seen walking alone, heading eastbound from her home around 2:30 P.M. on Saturday. Bitterman left her cell phone at the house but she took her ID and keys. Similarly, the family’s dogs were outside.

According to Captain Kevin Riley, Bitterman’s disappearance is being treated as an endangered missing person’s case.

“We know she walked away on her own. She was seen on Saturday about 2:30 in the afternoon , she wasn’t carrying anything, she left her cell phone behind. That is the last time anyone has seen or heard from her,” said Captain Riley.

On Wednesday, March 8, the FBI joined the search, joining police officers in going door-to-door in Parma in the hopes of finding new information about Bitterman’s disappearance.

Katarina Bitterman is described as being 5’5” and 120 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is asked to call the Parma Police Department: 440-885-1234.

I can tell you right off the bat, this is somewhere in Florida. Do I have any hard evidence to prove this? No. But what I do have is experience and knowledge of all things spring break.

Clue #1 that this is Florida: the clothing. Everyone is fully dressed while on the beach. The only spring break venue where people run around the beach fully clothed is Florida. You go to Mexico or any of the Caribbean islands and I guarantee you that it’s a sea of swimwear and none of this fully dressed nonsense.

Clue #2 that this is Florida: the overall ratchetness. Pure pandemonium. There is no DJ in sight, no stage, no bar… just a bunch of drunk college kids on a beach. It’s a cesspool of chaos.

Conclusion: this is 1000% Florida. And this, kids, is why if you’re going to tank money into spring break, go to Cancun or the Bahamas or Cabo. NEVER Florida.

So I am now the proud owner of a Tushy bidet and it’s the greatest thing in my apartment. If I got robbed today and someone stole all of my stuff, I would cry harder for my stolen bidet than I would for my MacBook, my TV, or my bed. A lot of you by now are probably saying “what the hell?” but just hear me out. Let’s start with the basics:

A bidet cleans you wayyyyy better than toilet paper ever could. The water washes off any residue that toilet paper could actually leave behind. Water is a universal solvent (shout out my sixth-grade science teacher), which means that it works more effectively at cleaning your skin than toilet paper. A bidet is also way more gentle on those who have hemorrhoids or other skin sensitivities because it’s way less harsh on skin than toilet paper. Although I have neither, I thought you might care to know that.

A bidet is also eco-friendly. Every day 27,000 trees are cut down just to make toilet paper. On the other hand, a bidet barely even uses a cup of water. If you’re on the green team or just trying to do your part to save the environment, a bidet may be a good option to reduce your footprint.

So, a few days ago I got a bidet from the wonderful folks at Tushy (First off, A+ name for a bidet company). After the guys at COED explained to me what a bidet was, I vowed to man up, sit down, and let it happen. The setup was a breeze. The box came with every piece I needed or could have needed to put it together. It took me a solid 10 minutes flat to get my bidet up and ready. I gotta toss Tushy another shout out for their instruction guide. Not only was it extremely informative but they also dropped some really great poop jokes. I loved the fact that they didn’t take themselves too seriously. I was actually enjoying reading the instruction guide rather than trying to rip my hair out.

Anyway back to the review… I got the entire thing together and there I was looking at something that shoots water into my a**. I was a little apprehensive, as anyone else would be, but I persevered. I’m not gonna lie it wasn’t that bad. The first couple uses, you tighten up a little bit because you know an input is touching an output, but once you get used to it, it’s a really great sensation (we’re still talking about bidets). Honestly once I got used to it, it was a fantastic experience.

I love how light-hearted Tushy takes themselves and the bidet attachment sits pretty hidden under my toilet seat. If you’re trying to do more on an environmental level or you just want to be more European, I would highly suggest upgrading your bathroom with a bidet from Tushy.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be. I guess Faryn will just have to try to capture the hearts of America through her blistering hot Instagram account. She’s already making fantastic progress in that endeavor, as she currently boasts over 44,000 followers on the social media platform.

March 9, 2017, marked the 20th anniversary of the death of the Notorious B.I.G., Christopher Wallace.

While tributes were pouring out from all corners of the earth, one of the best shoutouts to the late, great Biggie Smalls came from Hell Washington D.C.

Brooklyn Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries took time on the house floor to pay tribute to the iconic rapper by spitting a couple lines from Biggie’s  classic banger “Juicy.”
