Did anybody even know they were remaking Scarface? A lot of people shit on Hollywood for the lack of original ideas, but if you can make a good remake, I’m all for it. But I have a tough time believing they could make a new Scarface that’s even half as good as the Al Pacino version.

Universal’s reimagining of the classic gangster pic Scarface looks to have hit small bump in the road, as sources tell Variety that director Antoine Fuqua has departed the project.

Insiders say Sony and Denzel Washington want a sequel to The Equalizer very quickly and need Fuqua back to being prepping the film, which caused conflicted with the Scarface schedule. Universal still wants the film up and running by the spring, and has already begun meeting with directors so production won’t be affected.

Sources have also told Variety that Diego Luna, star of Rogue One is attached to star.

The Scarface reboot will be produced by Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark of Bluegrass Films and Global Produce production. Marty Bregman, who produced the 1983 Scarface film, will also produce.

The Sopranos writer and Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter wrote the most recent draft of the script, which is a reimagining of the core immigrant story told in both the 1932 and 1983 films, but the new version will be set in Los Angeles and will focus on a Mexican immigrant.

Budweiser virtually always produces the most memorable Super Bowl commercials, and it looks like this year won’t be any different. For their Super Bowl 51 commercial, Budweiser told the story of its co-founder Adolphus Busch’s journey from Germany to America. You can check out the ad in the video below.

Given today’s political climate, you would think that this commercial is Budweiser’s way of making a statement. But according to their vice president of marketing Ricardo Marques, that is not the case.

Via Fortune, here’s what Marques said about the commercial having a political context:

While Marques argued that the Anheuser-Busch co-founder’s story is as relevant today as it was 160 years ago, he added that despite the ongoing political debate around immigration and refugees, the commercial is not intended to be any sort of commentary on current political events.

“There’s really no correlation with anything else that’s happening in the country,” Marques told AdWeek. “We believe this is a universal story that is very relevant today because probably more than any other period in history today the world pulls you in different directions, and it’s never been harder to stick to your guns.”

Regardless of Budweiser’s intentions, this commercial is sure to rile up some people. Personally, I thought the commercial was actually pretty cool, as there’s nothing more American than coming here to follow your dreams. Their “Lost Dog” commercial of two years ago is still the GOAT, but I certainly won’t be getting my panties in a wad over their latest ad.

Gigi Hadid, one of the hottest supermodels in the world right now, has done something previously believed to be impossible: make the groufit sexy.

That’s right. While modeling for Reebok’s SS17 Club C campaign, Gigi Hadid somehow found a way to make an all-grey outfit hot AF. Models, man.

The 21-year-old blonde crushed a couple of snaps as she played around in a grey Reebok sweatshirt and the white SS17 Club C kicks.

Rapper Kendrick Lamar, who is headlining the SS17 Club kicks for men, joined Hadid in the promotion.

Bonnie-Lee Brown was getting ready for a typical night out with the girls when disaster struck. While performing some elite dance moves, Bonnie-Lee dropped it a bit too low and suffered a horrific butt injury. Watch her take an accidental trip to an unlicensed proctologist in the video below.

Judge Neil Gorsuch, a fourth-generation Coloradoan and conservative jurist who has written against euthanasia and in favor of political term limits, has been appointed as President Donald Trump’s judicial nominee for the Supreme Court.

Gorsuch was born in Denver, Colorado on August 29, 1967. His family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1981 when his mother, Anne Gorsuch Burford, was selected as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency by President Ronald Reagan. Gorsuch attended Georgetown Preparatory School, a Jesuit school for grades nine through 12, and graduated from the school in 1985.

After graduating from Georgetown Preparatory School, Gorsuch attended Columbia University in New York City.

Gorsuch is a proponent of originalism, which is the idea that the Constitution should be interpreted as the Founding Fathers would have interpreted it. Gorsuch also believes in textualism, which is the idea that statutes should be interpreted literally, without considering the legislative history and underlying purpose of the law.

Gorsuch is also a believer in a broad definition of religious freedom and sided with Christian employers and religious organizations in the cases of Burwell v. Hobby Lobby and Zubik v. Burwell.

On May 10, 2006, Gorsuch was nominated by President George W. Bush to the seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit vacated by Judge David M. Ebel. Like Gorsuch. On July 20, 2006, Gorsuch was confirmed by voice vote in the U.S. Senate, making Gorsuch President Bush’s fifth appointment to the Tenth Circuit.

Since taking office, Gorsuch has sent some of his law clerks on to become Supreme Court clerks.

Now that we’re all aware of Gronk’s present day feelings about 69ing, a recent article revealed an interesting tidbit about his high school basketball days. Gronk spent his senior year at Woodland Hills in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but it’s what he did at Williamsville North in Buffalo, New York that has the internet buzzing.

Every super hero needs an origin story, and via NESN, this might be the genesis of Gronk becoming a 69 legend.

“So we’re playing a home game and we have 68 points — now, it’s not a blowout, but it’s not a particularly close game either,” Gronkowski’s basketball coach, Chuck Swierski, told Mark Dondero in a feature for WPRI.com.

“So (Gronkowski) gets fouled and goes to the free-throw line. He hits the first one to get us to 69 and the place goes nuts because he’s playing into it. On his next free throw, he purposely chucks the ball off the backboard and misses so the score would stay at 69 and then runs back on defense pointing at the scoreboard.”

I hate the Patriots with every fiber of my being, but that is a fantastic story. I would’ve done anything to pull off a stunt like that in high school. Just a hilarious power move for the ages.

The news that professional athletes smoke marijuana shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Weed is an unquestionably healthier alternative to some of the pain prescription pills that these athletes are taking. Frankly, it isn’t surprising that sometimes these athletes would smoke right before games.

However, what is relatively surprising is that they’re starting to admit to it. That said, if there ever was a player who wouldn’t be shy about getting high, it’s Stephen Jackson, who recently admitted he used to smoke before games.

Jackson’s revelation came on the “I Am Rapaport: Stereo Podcast” hosted by actor Michael Rapaport:

“I just gotta be real, you know, it’s been a couple games where I smoked before games and had great games,” Jackson said on the podcast, which was posted Friday. “It’s been some games where I smoked before the game and was on the bench after three minutes sitting on the sideline, ‘Please calm down. This high has to calm down.’ I done shot three shots that went over the backboard, like, I’m going to be honest, like, ‘Ahh, I gotta calm down.'”

“We’re in Utah, and the [league’s] drug test people are around, you know, to get our last drug test so we can smoke, right? Don Nelson, we talked about weed all the time. He was cool with talking about weed. We got our last test in Utah, right? So me and [teammate] Baron [Davis] are coming out the locker room just screaming, excited with our last pink slip saying we could smoke for the rest of the season, and Don Nelson hauls ass down there giving us high-fives, like, ‘Yeah, we can smoke now!'” Jackson recalled. “It was cool, the fact that he knows what’s going on off the court with his players, which was great, man. We enjoyed it. That’s why we were a great team.”

The #17 and Big Ten leaders, the Maryland Terrapins, travel north to take on the unranked Ohio State Buckeyes, who are in desperate need of a win. Before I talk about each team, I just want it to be that I hate seeing Maryland in the Big Ten. Everyone and their mother knows that the Terps are an ACC team, and it’s a goddamn shame they’re playing in the Big Ten, especially when teams like Duke and UNC are not playing in it anymore. End rant.

Now that I’ve got that off my chest, let’s talk about the game. With the exception of two bad losses to unranked Pitt and Nebraska, Maryland has steamrolled through their schedule, going 19-2 so far, even if they play in a weak Big Ten Conference. Like he did during his freshman and sophomore years at Maryland, junior guard Melo Trimble leads the way for the Terps, putting up 17.1 points a game to go along with 3.4 assists and 3.1 rebounds. As it stands today, Joe Lunardi has the Terps as a fifth seed in his latest bracket projections, but personally I think they can get a higher seed if they continue to win games, which I fully expect them to do.

The Buckeyes of Ohio State have not had a great year up to this point, as they’ve gone 13-9, which is good enough for second to last place in the Big Ten. Although they haven’t been great this year, they’re still 2.5 point favorites tonight, so Vegas obviously knows something that an idiot like me doesn’t know. A win tonight could be the thing that turns it around for the Buckeyes this year, but they’re going to need to make some changes fast, because I don’t see them winning the Big Ten Tournament and getting the automatic NCAA Tournament bid. Hopefully they’re able to feed off of their hostile home crowd because they’re going to need it tonight.

On this cold and snowy (for me at least, I don’t know about you) last day of January, we get to close out a month with what should be quite the matchup between two Top 25 Big East teams as Creighton goes on the road to take on rival Butler. The two teams squared off earlier this year with Creighton coming away victorious as they won 75-64 on their home court.

The #22 Creighton Bluejays came out of the gates scorching hot, winning their first 13 games of the season, and have done very well putting up a 19-3 record, but have stumbled a little bit lately, losing two in a row before winning their last game against DePaul. Creighton is in prime position to make the NCAA Tournament, and most likely get a pretty high seed with how they’ve been playing this year. A win tonight on the road against a Top 20 team would definitely help their cause. It won’t come easy. Butler has been playing some great basketball as of late and are currently ahead of Creighton in the Big East standings.

Maybe I’m just shooting for the moon here, but I really think that Butler is going to be a sleeper team when the tourney rolls around in March. They’ve beaten five ranked teams this year, including reigning national champ Villanova and now top-five Arizona, who was #9 when they beat them earlier this year. Butler isn’t great offensively, as they score less than 80 points a game (76.8 to be exact), but their strength lies within their defense as they only allow 67.2 points a game. A win tonight would help avenge their loss earlier this year to Creighton, and they may be the more desperate team tonight as they try to avoid a second straight loss after losing to Georgetown last week.

Intro: Styles Is Upset; Elimination Chamber News

AJ Styles looks melancholy, watching the screen replaying clips of Cena’s historic victory at the Royal Rumble. Shane McMahon & Daniel Bryan are very happy about the Royal Rumble. AJ doesn’t feel the same. The competitors for the Elimination Chamber is officially announced. John Cena will defend his WWE World Championship against AJ Styles, The Miz, Bray Wyatt, Baron Corbin, and WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. Styles just wants a singles match against Cena, but he will have to make due for now.

In-Ring Segment: The Champ Is Here!

John Cena is in the ring, he’s ecstatic over his record 16th world title victory. But he’s ready for the Elimination Chamber in two weeks. The Wyatt Family’s music hits. Bray & Orton cut a promo. Things get heated. The Family goes down to ringside to attack Cena. But then the lights go out. Luke Harper appears out-of-nowhere and stands side-by-side with Cena. Shane McMahon’s music hits and holla, holla, holla, we got ourselves a tag team match, playa.

John Cena & Luke Harper vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton)

Luke Harper is really kicking ass in this match, but he simply won’t fight Bray. He slams Orton onto the announcer’s table, totally laying The Viper out. But when it’s time to fight Bray, Luke backs away. Wyatt has a hypnotic presence; Harper is still under his control in a way. So, Luke isn’t the best tag team partner for John Cena. The Wyatts are dissecting Cena. Orton lays him out on the announcer’s table. Orton is wearing Cena out in the ring, but Big Match John fires back with a devastating clothesline.

Orton tags in Bray, who takes out Cena and taunts the defenseless Harper. Right when Wyatt is about to splash Cena, the champ moves out of the way and Wyatt yells out in pain. Bray tags in Orton once again. Randy scoop-slams Cena and knocks Luke off the apron.

Luke comes back in the ring. He tries to put the Sister Abigail on Bray, but can’t do it. He drills Orton with a sick kick instead, and turns around to a real Sister Abigail from Bray. Cena comes in and tries to send Bray flying with the Attitude Adjustment. But Orton knocks Bray off Cena’s shoulders and counters with an RKO outta nowhere.

Carmella vs. Delilah Dawson

Before the match, the chinless wonder James Ellsworth comes out to cut a promo. The crowd is starting to boo this guy. Out next comes “the trash-talking, moon-walking, princess of Staten Island” Carmella. Ellsworth’s girl wrestles Delilah Dawson (previously unknown jobber), who looks like she just came out of a rave. Dawson was trained by former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Funaki. Carmella makes quick work of the pale-skinned, blue haired new-comer. But Dawson still looked great in the ring. This probably won’t be the last time we see her. But for tonight, Carmella quieted the new blue diva. The Princess of State Island took her out with The Code of Silence.

Carmella defeats Delilah Dawson

Kalisto vs. Dolph Ziggler

Kalisto is looking for some retribution against Ziggler. But Dolph strikes first and takes Kalisto out. Dolph dominates for much of the match, but Kalisto fires back with high-flying offense. And then just one superkick outta nowhere ended the match for the masked man.

Glow Fire (Naomi & Becky Lynch) vs. Alexa Bliss & Mickie James

Mickie James still has it! She was rocking some ’70s-eque bell-bottom tights. She packs one hell of a kick. Becky Lynch was also kicking arse in this one. But hats off to Naomi in this match, who once again put away the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. A split-legged moonsault is all Naomi needs to put away Alexa.

Backstage Interview: American Alpha

American Alpha are looking for challengers for their WWE SmackDown Tag Team titles. The champs appear both cocky and confident. They issue an open challenge for any tag team. The tag titles will be on the line. It’s coming up, next!

Every tag team on the SmackDown roster come out and start brawling! This is complete chaos! Referees try to break up the melee to no avail. The teams of Health Slater & Rhyno, and American Alpha are left standing tall after the fight. They have a stare-off as American Alpha’s music plays.

Backstage Segment: Inside Daniel Bryan’s Office with Nikki Bella & Natalya

Niki Bella and Natalya are bickering. They are arguing across an annoyed general manager. Daniel Bryan loses it and the crowd chants “YES!” He calms down and then announces another match for the Elimination Chamber pay per view. Nikki Bella will face off against Natalya in two weeks’ time. Bella looks very pleased by this news.

Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles

This match was high impact! Ambrose and Styles go back-and-forth with strikes and submissions. Baron Corbin came down to ringside during the middle of the fight; Corbin sat down at the commentary’s table to argue with The Miz. Ambrose was about to win the match, but the referee got distracted by Baron and Miz tangling it up at ringside. AJ closes the match with a picture perfect Styles Clash.

AJ Styles defeats Dean Ambrose

Post-match: The Miz takes out Ambrose with a Skull Crushing Finale. Miz turns around to Corbin’s End of Days. Baron destroys Ambrose next. He looks down the ramp at AJ Styles. He points at the former WWE Champion, as a way to signify that he’s next for a beat-down courtesy of The Lone Wolf.

Police in Birmingham, Alabama are investigating after a student was found dead in a parking deck on the campus of UAB.

According to WVTM, Birmingham police say an unclassified death investigation was being conducted at a parking deck in the 1200 block of 12th Street South at University Boulevard.

Authorities say a white male, who has yet to be identified, was found in a car on the first level around 1:00 P.M. and pronounced dead a short time later. Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said the student was found when someone noticed his car had been running for some time.

A UAB spokesperson said that foul play is not suspected and the deceased likely died of natural causes.

No other details were immediately made available by police.

A suspect was shot dead following a stabbing spree and an altercation with police at a Jack in the Box in Hollywood, California.

Four people suffered stab and gunshot wounds. The suspect is dead and two victims are critically injured, while one is in stable condition, according to Los Angeles police.

The call came into the Los Angeles Fire Department at 1:58 P.M. from the 1400 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard, spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said. She initially said four people had a mix of gunshot wounds and stab wounds; with two of those hospitalized had stab wounds.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Liliana Preciado said officers were responding to a report of a stabbing at Sunset and Cahuenga boulevards, but she had no details on the investigation. She confirmed an officer-involved shooting took place, but also had no information on that.

Stewart could not confirm how the third victim was injured, nor what likely killed the person who died.

The video below, which is graphic, was taken by a witness inside a Jack in the Box. The footage appears  to show two victims with bloody wounds. One of the victims was seated in a chair and another was on the floor with an officer kneeling over his back comforting him.

While this NBA season may be the biggest snoozefest of all time due to its foregone conclusion (Warriors over Cavs in six), that doesn’t mean some of the best athletes in the world stopped making plays night in and night out. Even though all of these thousands of points and plays will all mean nothing at the end of the season, we still need to appreciate the individual greatness of the plays at face value.

With 29 seconds remaining in overtime during Tuesday night’s game, New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis tied the game at 106-106 with a bucket. On the other end, 30-year-old Kyle Lowry isolated Pelicans forward Solomon Hil.

The rest is better consumed visually.

Lowry finished the game with 33 points on 11-for-21 shooting and 10 assists. This is the first time in his career that Lowry scored at least 30 points in three consecutive games.
