Alejandra Villanueva Ibarra, an 18-year-old student,  has been confirmed as the lone American victim at a shooting at Blue Parrot, a popular nightclub in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Five people were killed and at least a dozen were injured when a gunman opened fire at a Mexican club during a music festival, authorities said. Among the dead were four men and a woman, including two people who were part of a security team, authorities said. The woman, identified as Ibarra, died from a fall in the incident.

The shooting happened at the Blue Parrot nightclub in Playa del Carmen around 2:30 AM local time, according to a statement by the attorney general of the Mexican state of Quintana Roo. The attorney general said that one person entered the club armed with a gun and two others tried to stop the attack.

In a statement, the BPM Festival said the violence began outside the club.

“The violence began on 12th street in front of the club and three members of the BPM security team were among those whose lives were lost while trying to protect patrons inside the venue,” the statement reads.

“We are overcome with grief over this senseless act of violence and we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and government officials as they continue their investigation.”

According to ABC, officials said the shooting, which occurred on the last night of the 10-day BPM Festival, was not believed to be a terrorist attack. Three individuals were detained by the Public Security Department as authorities were trying to figure out if they were connected to the shooting.

Furthermore, a Houston man, Ignacio Valencia, was shot in both arms while trying to escape the Blue Parrot, claims he was with Villanueva Ibarra during the final moments of her life, via Daily Mail:

‘Her last words to me was, “I don’t feel anything. I don’t feel anything”.’

Valencia posted a touching tribute on Facebook to Villanueva Ibarra and encouraged people to find it in their hearts to donate in her memory and help her family during this difficult time.

He said: ‘She was a person full of life, outgoing, humble and had a promising bright future ahead of her. She was the sole provider for her family and was attending college to be a teacher.

You can find the GoFundMe for Alejandra Villanueva Ibarra here.

What Happened?

Here Is A Massive McDonald’s Brawl To Start Your Day

Apparently when it comes to McDonald’s, Argentinians are not to be f*cked with. Recently released video footage shows a fight that erupted inside a McDonald’s after an Argentinian actor, Federico Bal, was accused of using his celebrity status to cut to the front of the line and receive special treatment.

Bal was at the massive fast food restaurant with his friends after a night out and found himself in the middle of a huge brawl in Villa Carlos Paz in Cordoba, Argentina Saturday night.

Via Mirror:

Mr Bal said: “We went to dance in [a club called] Zebra and then, with some friends, we went to McDonald’s. I got out, I was with [my mum] Carmen Barbieri.

I went down to buy some hamburgers for my friends and a couple of kids from behind started to scream that I sneaked in, that they were in front of me…. I asked them to calm down, but they struck me from behind, in the head.

I imagine that the security jumped in, I didn’t hit anyone.”

Maybe next time Bal will think twice before he tries to flex on the average McDonald’s customer.

Molly Qerim First Take Information Details Story

Molly Qerim is the beautiful host of ESPN’s First Take, the hit morning sports talk show that’s become one of the most controversial series on television. But she hasn’t always been on the forefront of TV, the girlfriend of former NBA star Jalen Rose, or even always at the “Worldwide Leader in Sports.” Let’s find out a little bit more about Molly and her rise to fame.

Molly Qerim Details

Name: Molly Qerim
Born: March 31, 1985
Nationality: American
Height: 5′ 6″
Education: Quinnipiac University, University of Connecticut
Relationship Status: Dating Jalen Rose

Molly Qerim, ESPN Host

Part of what makes Molly Qerim such an attractive host is her exotic look–due mostly in part because she’s half-Albanian and of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean descent. Molly was born in Cheshire, CT, a small town that’s famous for its sports talent. Both Brian Leech and Brad Ausmus grew up in Cheshire.

She attended UConn as a major in communications and a minor in business administration. In fact, the UConn Huskies basketball and football teams are still among her favorite teams to root for.

After graduation, she moved to Quinnipiac University where she earned her Master’s Degree in broadcast journalism.

Early Broadcast Career

After graduating with her Masters Degree, Molly then started working at CBS Sports, where she helped to cover multiple sports including:  college football, National Signing Day, the NCAA Tournament, and the U.S. Open. During her time at CBS she soon moved into a studio anchor position, hosting favorites like SEC Tailgate Show, SEC Tonight, MaxPreps Lemming Report, Full Court Press, and Bracket Breakdown.

ESPN Career

Instagram Photo

Around 2007, Molly left for greener pastures at ESPN. There she began as the interactive host for College Football Live on ESPN and ESPN2.

But since ESPN is such a big “family network” which has talent appearing on different ESPN channels and shows, Molly also had the opportunity to work on Fantasy Football Now. Fantasy Football Now ended up being a huge break for Molly because that’s where she earned her first Emmy for her contribution to the show.

Molly Emmy win finally put her front and center at ESPN, allowing her to begin appearing on bigger and more popular shows. She began hosting digital content series for ESPN, and in addition things like the Heisman Presentation, the NBA Draft, the NBA All-Star Game, the MLB All-Star Game, etc.

The biggest move for Molly happened in mid-July 2015, when she was named interim host of ESPN2’s FirstTake. When the show was brought to the flagship station ESPN, Molly was named as the full-time host of the show, replacing Cari Champion.

Personal Life

Molly Qerim is dating Jalen Rose, a former NBA star and current ESPN personality.

The Philadelphia Police Department says a suspicious package prompted evacuations near the Temple College of Engineering at 12th and Norris Streets. As a precaution, authorities have evacuated the surrounding area while the police bomb squad investigates.

According to NBC, no injuries were reported as about 300 students and staff evacuated from the engineering building. Police found two devices around 9:00 A.M. EST: one was a 4×4 wrapped package with orange and red wires exposed found on a loading dock and the other found inside a trash truck.

Furthermore, according to Philly Voice, Temple spokesman Brandon Lausch said the bomb squad had the area cleared by 10:30 A.M. EST and that one of the packages was detonated as a precaution. Lausch also said that one of the packages was found by the university’s housekeeping staff.

Today is Temple’s first day of the spring semester.

Politician Glad He ‘No Longer Has To Be Politically Correct’ Arrested For Grabbing A Woman’s P*ssy

Christopher von Keyserling, 71, has served on the Greenwich, Connecticut Representative Town Meeting board since 1985. Thirty years after being chosen for public office, he’s finally letting his true colors show. That’s because von Keyserling was arrested on the suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman after he reportedly claimed he was glad he no longer had to worry about being “politically correct.”

via Metro:

‘I love this new world, I no longer have to be politically correct,’ he allegedly said before groping a 57-year-old woman on December 8 after an argument on politics.

‘If you’re proud of that I can’t help you,’ the woman reportedly replied. von Keyserling responded by calling her ‘a lazy bloodsucking union employee,’ according to the police report.

The woman swore at him and then walked away from the heated debate, von Keyserling followed her into her office which she left, claiming she did not want to be alone with him. While walking past him to exit the room, von Keyserling ‘reached between her legs from behind and pinched her in the groin area,’ police wrote in the arrest warrant.

His alleged victim told officers that the Republican ‘looked back with a really evil look in his eyes and said “it would be your word against mine and nobody would believe you.”‘

The woman, who has yet to be identified, reported the incident to police, which resulted in von Keyserling being told not to contact the alleged victim and to stay out of the Greenwich Town Hall Building.

Phil Russell, von Keyserling’s attorney, vehemently dismissed the allegations of sexual assault, labeling them ‘outrageous’:

“Von Keyserling playfully gave a lady who he knew for 30 years a pinch is what the accusation is. And somehow, everybody’s wringing their hands and carrying on that this is a crime, and it just isn’t.”

The Greenwich police department has obtained CCTV footage which they believe is consistent with the woman’s account. As for von Keyserling, he is expected to appear in court on January 25.

Police Identify Man Shot In Fairfax County Hostage Situation As Mohammad Azim Doudzai

Mohammad Azim Doudzai was identified by Fairfax County Virginia police as the man shot by an officer after he allegedly shot two men and kept a hostage trapped inside of a burning home.

On Monday, two brothers called 911 around 2:40 P.M. Monday saying they had been shot at a home in Herndon and were driving themselves to a hospital, Fairfax County police chief Col. Edwin C. Roessler Jr. said.

via NBC:

Officers arriving at the townhouse on the 13300 block of Covered Wagon Lane heard gunshots inside and saw smoke coming from its third floor, the chief said at a news conference.

Roessler said a man saying he was being held hostage called 911 to report that he couldn’t breathe, but firefighters weren’t able to enter the house because someone kept shooting a gun inside.

Police negotiators were talking to the 32-year-old Mohammad Azim Doudzai by phone, but the chief said he refused to cooperate with them.

Video shot by NBC helicopter shows police throwing a flash grenade into the home. Doudzai was holding what appeared to be a knife, and according to Fox News, ‘lunged’ towards officers. Subsequently, Doudzai was shot, allowing police to help the man being held hostage.

According to NBC, the hostage suffered smoke inhalation from the fire. The two brothers who were shot took themselves to a hospital with life-threatening injuries before the police arrived. As for Doudzai, he died Monday night at the hospital. Doudzai’s Facebook page says he was a DJ who had attended a community college a few years ago.

Police are still investigating the suspect’s connection to the victims.

Mike Tyson is serving as Chris Brown’s trainer for his upcoming boxing match against Soulja Boy. Yes, that’s a real sentence. As if this beef couldn’t get any weirder, Tyson decided to add some fuel to the fire by dropping a Soulja Boy diss track. Check out the music video for “If You Show Up.”

That was atrocious in the best way possible. Tyson can’t rap for shit, but the lines were so bad they were good. I died laughing when he said, “Everybody talk shit behind the keys, I’ma sting like a venereal disease.” He would know from experience too.

I also loved how he kept saying, “I’m Mike Tyson.” Yeah, we know, dude. You have one of the most recognizable voices on the planet. I could pick out that Daffy Duck sounding lisp every single time.

It was a smart move just putting a bunch of Instagram models in the video, though. Come for the bars, stay for the babes. They even threw in a midget! Variety really is the spice of life.

The Mountain From ‘Game Of Thrones’ Throwing Washing Machines To Set A World Record Is Mesmerizing

Hafthór “Thor” Björnsson is a man known for playing the Mountain and Zombie Mountain on HBO’s hit series Game Of Thrones. He’s also known for being one of the strongest bastards on planet Earth.

Björnsson appeared on Italy’s Lo Show Dei Record to face off against another massive human being in an attempt to set one of the more bizarre world records: laundry throwing. The Guinness World Records Italian Show brought The Mountain in to set the record for the farthest washing machine throw by an individual. Björnsson faced off against Lithuania’s Zydrunas Savickas, who is less famous but equally as terrifying.

Unfortunately, our boy from Game Of Thrones actually lost. Savickas got the victory in this one, hurling a 101-lb washing machine 13.6 feet to set the record.

Kristiana Eredia Cheated Death At Just 17 Years Old, Now She’s A Thriving Student At GCU

Kristiana Eredia

After a night of heavy, regrettable drinking, you can probably recall telling your buddies something along the lines of, “Dude, I nearly died last night.” While your hungover self is just being dramatic, Miss COED 2017 semifinalist Kristiana Eredia literally nearly died. Not from a night of bad decisions, but from an infection in her small intestine.

The now sophomore at Grand Canyon University was just 17 years old when four and a half feet of her small intestine were choked by scar tissue, causing toxic fluid to spread throughout her body and nearly shut down her organs. Doctors told her that if she had waited one more day, she would’ve died.

While this might cause some people to feel sorry for themselves, it’s Krissy’s attitude that helped her get through that tough time – and what makes her more determined than ever to take home the Miss COED 2017 final prize.

Get to know more about Krissy below – like her favorite GCU tradition – and be sure to check back daily as we get to know each of our contestants a bit better.

If you could travel anywhere in the world for Spring Break, where would you go?

I am OBSESSED with the beach. Arizona doesn’t have any beaches, so whenever I’m back home in Cali, I try to visit the ocean. I would personally love to spend my Spring Break somewhere tropical; somewhere near the beach. I’m also a sucker for sunsets! So anywhere that has beautiful beaches and sunsets is the place for me! Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica – the list goes on and on.

What’s your favorite school tradition?

Steal the Lope is such a funny tradition! But I have not personally been involved in it. There is a lope statue in front of the Student Union, and it’s moveable. The graduating class will steal the Lope and hide it. Then suddenly, it appears in the most random place. My favorite annual tradition I have actually been a part of has to be Hanging of the Greens. This event is a formal that includes dancing, free food, a live band, and awesome pictures. Most of the school participates, and I love how it brings us all together.

Give your BFF a shoutout! What’s his/her name and how long have you been besties?

If you’re not dating your best friend, you’re doing it wrong. ;) So obviously my boyfriend is my best friend. We have been dating for almost three years and I love him very much. But a girl also needs her maid of honor! My best girl friend is Kelsie Estebo. We have been best friends since Kindergarten. That’s 14 years of friendship! Our birthdays are only two weeks apart. We even have the exact same initials “KAE.” This girl has a special place in my heart, and I could not be more blessed by her! Love you Kels.

Is there an event or organization you’re passionate about that you’d like people to know more about?

It’s On Us” was nationally launched in 2014 by the White House. This campaign brings awareness to the issue of sexual assault on college campuses. The focus of this movement is to provide women and men with the necessary tools to become active bystanders during scenarios where sexual assault can be stopped. GCU’s center of attention is making sure that we are not idle bystanders to the problem sexual assault, but that we realize we have a role to play by being a part of the solution. The solution begins with us, and I have already taken the pledge. The pledge of the campaign is to “RECOGNIZE that non-consensual sex is sexual assault, IDENTIFY situations in which sexual assault may occur, INTERVENE in situations where consent has not or cannot be given, and CREATE an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.”

Everyone should take the pledge to raise awareness, and empower one another to take action to stop sexual assault!

What’s your biggest accomplishment thus far?

My biggest accomplishment is surviving and never giving up. Get knocked down three times, get up four. I had my first two surgeries when I was 16. I lost my gallbladder and my appendix. My third surgery took place almost a year later. I didn’t realize until my recovery that I was dying. I had encountered and conquered my death bed at the age of 17. Long story short, I was in the hospital profusely vomiting for four days before the doctors knew what was wrong with me. No pain medication worked on me, and I was basically in a never-ending cycle of vomiting with excruciating pain. There were tubes all over my body, one was going from my nostril down my throat into my stomach; a tube on the side of my hip suctioning excess stomach fluid, and an intravenous line for fluids and a pic line starting at my arm going towards my heart in case I had to undergo emergency surgery and a catheter. I was a mess.

On the fourth night, my parents and I decided to allow the surgeon to perform exploratory surgery to see if they could pinpoint the cause of all the vomiting.

Good news: The surgery would determine if it was an internal issue or bad news: It could be for nothing and my body just needed time to regulate itself.  When the surgeon opened me up, they found that four and a half feet of my small intestine were blue, basically dead, choked by scar tissue inside my body from the previous surgery. This caused sepsis fluid to leak out toxic fluids. The surgeon said if they had waited one more day, my organs would have failed because of the septic fluid. I would have died.  But I survived!

The doctors said my mindset to stay strong and have faith is what caused me to make it. The battle did not stop there because these surgeries set me back in everything. I came home weighing only 99 pounds from a healthy 125 pounds; my sports, my MMA training, my academic achievements, early scholarships and most of all, how my body functioned, were all affected negatively. I missed many opportunities, but I still pulled it together. I may have had three surgeries, but I have also had four triumphant returns!

Welcome To Russian College, Where Cheat-Sheets Are Literally Bigger Than You Are

$

I’m going to be completely honest, I didn’t even know they had formal schooling in Russia. Russia kind of strikes me as a place where your dad drops you in the forest when you’re like seven with a matchbook and a hatchet and tells you to come back home when you’re 13 and that counts as school. Or even if they did have school, it would be more reliant on instinct than knowledge.

Well, as usual, I was wrong. Not only does Russia actually have a school system but it’s apparently pretty damn hard. At least according to these kids who literally made a 12-foot-long cheat sheet.

via Daily Mail:

The students prepared the note on a 12.1-foot-long roll of wallpaper ahead of their nuclear physics exam. It was discovered in the city of Voronezh in south western Russia’s Voronezh Oblast region.
The giant cheat note included detailed answers to 35 questions on nuclear physics that lecturers had warned students to expect. However it is unclear how the students ever expected to be able to use the cheat note without being spotted by moderators in the physics faculty of Voronezh State University.
The photographs show students holding the rolled out cheat note, which they say took a week to prepare, while the professor who caught them looks on in amazement.  The students and the professor were not named in reports.

As absurd as it is that there’s a cheat sheet that’s taller than the height LeBron James can jump, the fact that it’s for a nuclear physics test makes it slightly more bearable. Check out a photo of the full monster below.

Nigerian Air Force ‘Mistakenly’ Bombs Refugee Camp, Accidentally Kills More Than 100 People

A Nigerian state official says an Air Force fighter jet on a mission against Boko Haram extremists mistakenly bombed a refugee camp, killing more than 100 refugees and wounding aid workers.

Via ABC:

Military commander Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor confirmed the accidental bombardment in northeast Rann, near the border with Cameroon. Among the wounded were two soldiers and Nigerians working for Doctors Without Borders and the International Committee of the Red Cross, he said.

The general says among the wounded are Nigerians working for Doctors Without Borders and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Irabor said he ordered the mission based on information that Boko Haram insurgents were gathering, along with geographic coordinates. It was too early to say if a tactical error was made, he said.

The Borno state government official is helping to coordinate the evacuation of wounded. The official spoke Tuesday on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to reporters.

General Irabor, who is the theater commander for counterinsurgency operations in northeast Nigeria, said the Air Force would not deliberately target civilians but there will be an investigation.

This is believed to be the first time that Nigeria’s military has admitted to making such a mistake, as villagers have previously reported civilian casualties in near-daily bombardments in the northeastern part of Nigeria.

Boko Haram is Nigeria’s militant Muslim extremist group and they’ve caused havoc in Africa’s most populous country through their bombings, assassinations, and abductions. Boko Haram is fighting to overthrow the Nigerian government and create an Islamic state.

Marshawn Lynch Spotted In Scotland Popping Wheelies & Playing Chicken With Oncoming Traffic

Has there ever been an athlete quite like Marshawn Lynch? What’s great about Beast Mode is that you know what you’re seeing is 100% him 100% of the time. There is no middle ground with Marshawn – what you see is what you get and he doesn’t care if you like it or not.

Whereas most former players spend their retirement working as a broadcaster or a pitchman, apparently all Marshawn wants to do is play chicken with a bus in the middle of nowhere, Scotland.

The Skittles pouch on the front of Lynch’s bike causes me hesitation and makes me think this is some sort of viral marketing scheme, but since Marshawn is Marshawn, we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt with this one and just chalk it up to his insatiable appetite for Skittles.

Young Thug didn’t show up to the set of his music video, so the director was forced to improvise. The show must go on, and the scantily clad females must still drive around in kiddie cars. Watch how the music video for “Wyclef John” turned out without the presence of Young Thug.

Being a music video director has to be so goddamn stressful. You’ve got to deal with budgets, deadlines, and artists that do whatever the f*ck they want. Thankfully, Ryan Staake knows how to make lemonade out of lemons because that video was fantastic.

More rappers should take note and just not show up to their own video shoots, as that was the most memorable rap music video I’ve seen in years. This video was released yesterday and it already has over 700,000 views on YouTube, so I’m clearly not alone in my opinion. We need less champagne poppin’ and more Requiem for a Dream inspired sausage action. Make Rap Videos Great Again!

It’s About Damn Time They Made An Honest Trailer For ‘Space Jam’

I’ll be the first to admit Honest Trailers are nowhere near as funny as they used to be. Back in college, my buddies and I could sit around a bong watching Honest Trailers for hours. Now, I barely chuckle but a single time while watching these videos. At first, I thought the depreciating quality of these videos was due to my changing sense of humor, but now that the guys over at Screen Junkies are doing movies based on ‘fan appreciation’ you know they’re struggling to put the proverbial asses in seats.

All that being said, a Space Jam Honest Trailer has been long overdue. Sure, we all love Space Jam, but do we love it because it’s actually a good movie? Or is it because of nostalgia?

Gotta give it to Space Jam, though: Despite being over 20 years old, it still stands up as one of the best looking half-actor/half-cartoon movies of all time.

After the Pittsburgh Steelers escaped Kansas City on Sunday night with an 18-16 win in their Divisional Round matchup to set up an AFC Championship clash the Patriots, Antonio Brown posted a now-infamous video on Facebook Live.

In the video, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stood in front of his team and gave a profanity-filled speech about how they’ll be ready for the AFC Championship game despite the fact that the New England Patriots will have more than a full extra day of rest. In the speech, he referred to the Patriots as “those a**holes” which sent the football world into a tizzy about the perceived slight at the Pats’ expense.

In the video, Tomlin can be heard referring to the Patriots as “those a**holes,” which in and of itself is no big deal. Given the context of the speech’s release, his words made headlines.

On Tuesday,  Coach Tomlin spoke with the media at his weekly press conference, where he affirmed that he was not happy with Brown, calling his star player “selfish” and “foolish.”

Although Tomlin apologized for the “regrettable” language in the speech, he reiterated that this is why the team went to such lengths to keep certain moments private. He also noted that he had not seen Brown yet, but that he would be punished in some way.

Similarly, veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger also expressed his frustration with his Pro Bowl wide receiver, telling 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh:

“It’s an unfortunate situation that we’ve got to deal with right now. That’s a sacred place where things are said and hugs and tears, and it’s kind of a special place. So a little disappointed with AB for that. Coach talks and then I talk, and you just don’t want everyone to know what’s going on in there with the family. And also, I wish AB would have been listening to Coach and myself instead of being on the other side of the locker room filming.”

The Steelers take on the Patriots this Sunday at 6:40 P.M. EST in Foxboro for the AFC Championship.
