The bad news is that Aoife is the sister of the UFC Lightweight Champion of the world, so I might get my head knocked clean off my shoulders just for typing this post. To no one’s surprise, I was never a math or science person. Sure, I found biology interesting, but when it came to things like chemistry and physics, I was lost. Thankfully, there are people like Jocelyn McNeany who excel in these subjects… and also don’t mind fun stuff like blood, needles, and the like.

Who do you look up to the most and why? 

I look up to my parents the most, and I can’t choose between my mother or father because both of them have taught me so many valuable lessons; they have made me the person I am today.  My father taught me to be social, if I needed something, he taught me how to not be bashful and to ask, or if I didn’t know how to do a homework assignment or how to fill out forms for college, he told me to ask around and find out the information I needed. My mother taught me how to work hard for the things I wanted. She motivated me to lose weight when I was at a weight that wasn’t healthy for me to be at, and to study even harder to get that A when I got a B instead. My parents are blessings and I thank God that I have them by my side to teach me and guide me on the right path. 

If you could travel anywhere in the world for Spring Break, where would you go?

If I could travel anywhere for spring break, I would love to go to Greece. I can’t quite remember how my interest in going to Greece started, but I even have a photo of Greece as my cover on my laptop as one of my goals to go for vacation. From the photos I’ve seen, Greece looks so beautiful, rich with culture and history, and I would love to visit one day.

Cliché, but where do you see yourself in five years? Ready, set, go! 

In five years, I see myself studying for my exams in Miami, Florida. I would like to be in my second year of medical school, preparing to become a neonatologist. I’ll  be working in a hospital and trying to gain as much experience as I can. In the evenings, I’ll teach Zumba and make others aware of how to eat healthier and take care of themselves more. On the weekends, I’ll enjoy walks on the beach with my significant other, read books, and catch up on recent movies. I will also volunteer in my community and keep up with events for my sorority, Phi Mu.

As a member of Phi Mu, Jocelyn enjoys volunteering for their philanthropy, Children’s Miracle Network, and has helped raise money for children’s healthcare.

What exactly is Children’s Miracle Network, and how is your sorority, Phi Mu, involved?

Children’s Miracle Network is a non-profit organization that raises funds for medical research, children’s hospitals, and raises awareness for children’s health issues. Phi Mu raises funds for over 170 children’s hospitals. Each chapter is responsible for raising funds through events such as cook-offs, dance marathons, and much more! Phi Mu contributes at least $500,000 each year for Children’s Miracle Network.

Have you personally served the Children’s Miracle Network?

I have not yet personally served at the Children’s Miracle Network, but I would love to! My goal is to become a pediatric surgeon and being able to give back and help the children and the community is what I love to do.

As anticipated, Deshaun Watson will forgo his senior season and enter the 2017 NFL Draft. He made the announcement after winning the College Football National Championship, and he will head into next spring’s lottery in a class of quarterbacks turning out to be one of the poorest in recent memory. Watson will draw much attention for leading his Clemson Tigers to back-to-back National Championship appearances, particularly because he was able to overtake the vaunted Alabama Crimson Tide defense just a year after falling short of them in primetime. He will battle with Mitch Trubisky to be the first quarterback taken off the board.

Deshaun Watson Stats

Ranked as the top high school quarterback in the 2014 class by ESPN 300, Watson chose Clemson over offers from Florida State, USC, Auburn, and Alabama. He would spend three seasons with the Tigers.

2014

Playing as a true freshman, Watson entered the season as the backup to Cole Stoudt before outperforming him and taking the job on September 21. Watson would post stellar numbers as a young pup, with 1,466 passing yards and 14 touchdowns to just two interceptions. That was good enough for 61.7 completion percentage despite missing five full games due to injury. He would undergo offseason knee surgery to repair a torn ACL after playing on the bum leg against the rival South Carolina Gamecocks.

2015

Helping lead his team to an undefeated 12-0 mark and a berth in the College Football Playoff, Watson helped unseat Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl before falling to Alabama in the National Championship Game. However, he would make history in the loss, setting a total yards record with 478 (405 passing/ 73 rushing). His entire season was equally as impressive, as he amassed over 4,000 yards through the air and rushed for over 1,000 yards over the course of 14 games. He received ACC Offensive Player of the Year and ACC Player of the Year honors in a spectacular season. He made an appearance in New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist but would finish third behind Alabama’s Derrick Henry. He would throw 35 touchdowns to 13 interceptions while posting a 67.8 completion percentage.

2016

Watson improved in several areas from his sophomore to junior season. The Tigers would complete a one-loss season with a win over Alabama in the National Championship Game, a contest in which Watson received the Offensive MVP award. He would set individual records with 4,593 passing yards and 41 touchdowns on 579 attempts. His rushing totals dipped a bit, but he still posted 629 yards on the ground with nine scores.

NFL Draft

It is very likely Watson could be the first player drafted, going to the Cleveland Browns, who have the first pick. The Browns have overhauled their entire roster and could jumpstart the rebuilding process if they believe Watson is a franchise quarterback. While he has posted numbers that would extract such attention, his accuracy and anticipation are a few of the concerns scouts are worried about. Additionally, Watson wasn’t asked to read through many progressions in the Clemson offense and took snaps almost exclusively out of the shotgun.

Wherever he lands, Watson will bring a winning presence after historical and dominating success with the Tigers.

There are a couple people in the world of sports media that I really, really despise. Jim Rome, Skip Bayless, Bill Simmons, Doug Gottlieb, and Colin Cowherd. If you don’t know who Colin Cowherd is, he’s one of those sniveling old white dudes who gets paid millions of dollars a year to say laughably outrageous things about sports. It’s a deplorable profession filled with miserable people.

But that doesn’t mean I won’t give credit where credit is due because Colin Cowherd is owed some. After moving from ESPN to Fox (and getting paid $6 million a year to do so), Cowherd ramped up his radio show The Herd with both a new California studio and a new co-host. That co-host is Kristine Leahy, and *NEWSFLASH* she’s an absolute 10.

Leahy, born October 16, 1986, is an American television host and sports reporter, most famously known as a host on NBC’s American Ninja Warrior and the co-host and newswoman of the Fox Sports 1 radio simulcast, The Herd with Colin Cowherd. She is also an anchor and reporter for KCBS-TV in Los Angeles. So not only is she a smokeshow, but she probably racks in a couple million a year herself. Oh, and she loves sports, essentially making her the total package.

By all accounts, both Odell Beckham Jr. and the team he plays for, the New York Giants, had a great season. Big Blue made the playoffs for the first time in five years, while Odell posted another stellar individual campaign, earning his third straight season of at least 1,300 yards, catching 101 passes for 1,367 yard and 10 touchdowns.

However, despite the individual and group success of both OBJ and the G-Men, the season wasn’t without turmoil. There were those early season struggles when Odell bitched and moaned to the media that he didn’t love the game anymore. There was that whole saga with the kicking net, and the time he wore Joker gloves. And finally, there was Boat Gate, where Odell was snapped on a Miami boat with what appeared to be a blunt in his hand the week before the Giants’ first playoff game.

Point is, this past season will be remembered more for Beckham’s antics than the Giants’ success, and that in and of itself is an issue.

Apparently, the team’s General Manager Jerry Reese, who is normally a soft-spoken guy, has seen enough, telling the press it’s time for Odell to “grow up.”

“I see a guy who needs to think about some of the things that he does,” Reese said. “Everybody knows that he’s a gifted player, but there have been some things that he’s done that he needs to look himself in the mirror and be honest with himself about some of the things that he’s done. […]

“We all have had to grow up in different times in our lives,” he said. “I think it’s time for him to do that. He’s been here for three years now. He’s a little bit of a lightning rod because of what he does on the football field, but the things he does off the football field, he has to be responsible for those things. We’ll talk through it and I believe — I know — he’s a smart guy. I believe he understands he has a responsibility being one of the faces of this franchise. I think he’ll accept that responsibility.”

Gotta agree with Reese (and essentially every other football talking head) on this one. The fact is, Odell’s antics may not be ‘bad’ in the grand scheme of things, but because of the 24-hour-news-cycle culture that we live in, anything and everything he does is going to be amplified and vilified. Until he gets that in his head, until he understands that he does not make the rules, Odell is never going to live up to his entire potential.

Oona Castilla Chaplin, the granddaughter of English film star Charlie Chaplin, has a role in Tom Hardy’s new FX series Taboo. Chaplin, a Spanish actress born in 1986, is best known for playing the role of Talisa Maegyr, Rob Stark’s smoking hot wife, on the HBO TV series Game of Thrones.

In 2010, Chaplin she appeared as a Brazilian cage dancer in ITV’s Married Single Other (2010), followed by roles as the wife of one of the main characters, Hector Madden, in the BBC period drama The Hour (2011–2012), as Dr. John Watson’s girlfriend in an episode of BBC’s Sherlock (2012) and of course, Rob Stark’s wife Talisa, where she essentially caused The Red Wedding all by herself.

With elite acting pedigree and a lead role alongside Tom Hardy, look for Oona to become a household name in 2017.

Tom Hardy’s new FX series Taboo finally premieres tonight at 10:00 P.M. EST. The eight-episode miniseries, written by Hardy and his father, is about an adventurer, James Keziah Delaney, who returns to Britain from Africa, along with fourteen stolen diamonds, to seek vengeance after the death of his father. The show stars Tom Hardy as James Delaney, Oona Chaplin (Game Of Thrones) as his apparent love interest Zilpha Geary, Michael Kelly (House Of Cards) as Dr. Dumbarton, and Johnathan Pryce (Game Of Thrones) as Sir Stuart Strange.

In a viral video that’s sweeping the globe, we finally get the answer to the age old question: How many Brits does it take to get a bike out of an electric fence? It apparently takes four, two to do the grunt work, one to chuckle in the background, and one to record the action. Watch these guys hilariously struggle in the video below.

What a phenomenal video. Not only was I laughing my ass off when those guys would get shocked, but I also found myself on the edge of my seat, wondering if they were ever going to get their bike back. It was a perfect mixture of humor and drama watching those goofballs match wits with that electric fence.

According to the YouTube description, here’s how they got into this pickle.

Whilst pedaling today my mate Paul went to put his bike over a fence. Half way though he realized that it was electric! So he dropped it on the fence. This is a video of him and my mate Al trying to get it off! Please excuse the swearing and oh yes by the way the clicking sound is the electric pulsing!!

I don’t know how the hell someone would manage to do that, but it all worked out in the end. They got their bike off the fence, gave the internet a sensational video, and no one suffered a Marv-esque electrocution. All’s well that ends well.

One second you’re thinking you’re about to haul off with a sweet score from the local pawn shop, and the next minute you’re thinking absolutely nothing because you’re dead AF and the only thing that exists after death except nothingness… (TBD). At least that’s what happened to this moron who got himself killed after he tried to rob Jimmy Groover’s Dixie Gun and Pawn.

Bullet holes are still visible on the front on the Dixie Gun and Pawn shot Monday night after what detectives describe as a gun battle broke out earlier in the day.

Police said two armed men burst in Jimmy Groover’s store in broad daylight Monday and held the gun store owner at gunpoint.

“Get down on the floor, get down on the floor or I’ll kill you,” Groover recalled the suspects telling him. “Then they shot at me.”

Feeling like his life was on the line, Groover pulled the trigger (of his own gun), shooting and killing one of the suspects. The other is still on the run.

I mean, seriously, forget the fact that you’re robbing a gun store, does this look like a guy you want to f*ck with? Even if he was managing a Baskin Robbins, this guy would be on my strict ‘do not f*ck with list.’ My man already has a death row beard going on, you don’t mess with those guys.

In the least surprising news of 2017, this is actually not the first time Groover’s pawn shop has been burglarized. Actually, this is about the 20th time it’s happened. Groover has added security cameras and bars on the windows, but at the end of the day, we all know his best chance of defending his turf is the piece he’s got on his hip.

The Baylor Bears began the season unranked, but after roaring out of the gate with a 15-0 record (3-0 Big 12), they were named the number one team in the country by The Associated Press on Monday. This is the first time that Baylor has ever been ranked #1 in men’s college basketball, and they are very deserving of the honor. They’ve knocked off some of the country’s heaviest hitters, taking down #4 Oregon, #24 Michigan State, #10 Louisville, and #7 Xavier.

But unfortunately for Baylor, their time as #1 may be short-lived, as they have an extremely tough test ahead of them in the West Virginia Mountaineers. The #10 ranked Mountaineers are 13-2 (2-1 Big 12), and they went 2-0 against Baylor last season. They also have a knack for upsetting top-ranked teams at home, as they beat Kansas 74-63 last year. The WVU Coliseum will be rocking, and Bob Huggins’ sloppy ass will have his team pressing like crazy, making this a must-watch ballgame.

In 2009, he was nominated for Best Actor at the Crime Thriller Awards for his role as a drug and alcohol-induced gangster in The Take. He transitioned his experience in British theater to Chicago, where he received rave reviews for his starring role in The Long Red Road at the Goodman Theatre.

2010 – 2012

In 2010, Hardy returned to the forefront of Hollywood with one of the top roles in Christoper Nolan’s science fiction thriller Inception. He received a BAFTA Rising Star award for his role as Eames in Inception. He also had a prominent role in the 2011 film Tinker Tailor Solider Spy. His performance in the 2011 film Warrior was also highly praised by critics. He even got involved in a cheesy romantic comedy called This Means War.

2012 – 2017

Besides his role as Bane in The Dark Night Rises, Hardy also starred in the film Lawless. His role as bootlegger John Hillcoat in Lawless received rave reviews from critics. Hardy also had the honor of co-starring with James Gandolfini in the 2014 film The Drop, which would end up being Gandolfini’s last film. Rest in peace, James Gandolfini.

2015 may have been Hardy’s most prolific year in film ever. That year, he starred in five films. His most successful film of the year is Mad Max: Fury Road. Mad Max became a box-office smash. Both the fans and critics loved the film. They just loved the frenzied environment of a post-apocalyptic world.

Tom received a British Independent Film Award for Best Actor in 2015 for his role in the film Legend. Any dude who’s a true bro has at least heard of Backpage. Except for me, cause I’m a church going virgin who goes to sleep before 9:00 P.M. But everyone else out there has definitely heard of it. If you haven’t, I’ll hit you with the quick synopsis: Backpage is one of the world’s largest classified websites and has been helping crusty, fat people pay to get laid for decades. In my opinion, it’s essentially a humanitarian NPO, that’s how much good it brings to the world. But, because the US Government totally doesn’t have bigger fish to fry, they decided to shut them down.

The Texas-based web portal posted a red banner headline over its adult listings with the word “CENSORED,” adding in a statement that it had removed the section “as the direct result of unconstitutional government censorship.”

It follows efforts by government officials to close a service they contend promotes prostitution and human trafficking.

The bipartisan Senate Investigations Subcommittee report, which was published late Monday, said Backpage has “knowingly concealed evidence of criminality by systematically editing its adult ads” for up to a decade.

Can’t we have anything nice?! The US needs to quit picking on Backpage and start focusing on important things like the fact that we’re getting absolutely lapped by Russia in the hacking game.

The #7 ranked Duke Blue Devils will travel to Tallahassee to face off against the #9 ranked Florida State Seminoles in an ACC clash. While Duke is a staple in the top 10, this is rare territory for Florida State. They’ve gotten off to a fast 15-1 start, including going 3-0 in ACC play for the first time in school history. The Seminoles are coming off back-to-back impressive victories over ranked teams, winning 60-58 at #12 Virginia and 93-78 at home against #21 Virginia Tech.

As for Duke, they are 14-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. They’ve won two straight since dropping a road game to VT, cruising to wins over Georgia Tech and Boston College. Grayson Allen’s “indefinite” suspension lasted an entire game, as Coach K showed his spineless ways in promptly reinstating the biggest dickhead in college basketball.

After missing season after season in Chicago and then wearing out his welcome by not realizing that the Bulls had become Jimmy Butler’s team, Derrick Rose was unceremoniously traded to New York in June. Then Rose had his formerly clean-cut public image tarnished when, though he was ultimately found innocent, lewd details emerged of his sex life over the course of his rape trial this offseason.

Things have been steadily gone downhill for Rose ever  since his MVP season, so when her went AWOL yesterday, when the Knicks had a game against the Pelicans, people’s imaginations ran wild.

Rose at least somewhat squashed the rampant speculation today by saying he had to return to his mother in Chicago to tend to a family emergency. According to ESPN’s report, “The guard said that he apologized to his teammates and spoke to general manager Steve Mills and team president Phil Jackson. They accepted his explanation for his absence.” Though he has been fined, there aren’t expected to be any further repercussions.

But in what has to be one of the worst-timed ads run in history, the Knicks official Twitter account today tweeted an Amtrak advertisement that featured Rose on his way to an Amtrak train. Unsurprisingly, they soon deleted it. But not before someone took a screenshot and sent it to ESPN’s Darren Rovell.

Over Thanksgiving weekend I had my five-year high school reunion, and it was apparent that certain kids who had been at top of the social hierarchy back in high school had clearly peaked too early. Now five years later, these kids seemed to know that even if they overcame their current malaise and eventually carved out a decent life for themselves, things would never be quite as good for them as they were back in their teenage glory days.

In my senior year of high school Derrick Rose was the NBA MVP and the most exciting young player in basketball. Fast-forward to the present, and D-Rose on the Knicks is the NBA equivalent of one those has-been kids at my five-year high school reunion.

While Rose has actually been decent for the Knicks this season, it’s just depressing to watch him play at this point because while he’ll occasionally have some flashes of his former brilliance, it’s obvious that he’s a shell of his former self.

As a New Yorker , I hope Phil Jackson is wise enough to realize that Rose isn’t reliable enough to hand over the keys to long-term when he’s a free agent this summer. The Knicks are preparing themselves for a future built around Kristaps Porzingis, and signing Rose for the long haul would just bring bad juju that his average on-court contributions just aren’t enough to compensate for.

The #15 ranked Xavier Musketeers will travel to Villanova to take on the #3 ranked Wildcats in a Big East clash. Xavier is 13-2 overall and first in the Big East with a 3-0 record in conference play. They’ve really been rolling as of late, winning six straight ballgames.

But winning seven in a row will be no easy task for the Musketeers. Villanova has a dominant home court advantage, as they’ve won their last 45 games at The Pavilion. Their all-time record for consecutive home wins at The Pavilion is 46, which was set between 2007-2011.

Villanova lost their #1 ranking last week after they were beat 66-58 on the road by #18 Butler. But they didn’t wallow in self-pity, as they bounced back to beat Marquette in a 93-81 shootout.
