Who Doesn’t Love A Good Old-Fashioned Coaches Fight? Watch The Missouri and Georgia Coaches Go At It

0
0

With the exception of Kentucky and sometimes Florida, SEC basketball is usually pretty meh. But today’s otherwise unimportant game between Georgia and Missouri got some added spice when the team’s coaches nearly came to blows in a heated altercation at the end of the game’s first half.

Look I’m by no means advocating for violence, but those people who tell you violence is never the answer just haven’t been asked all of life’s questions.

As a New York Rangers fan, one of my formative memories was in 1998 when Rangers goalie Dan Cloutier beating the living shit out of Tommy Salo, the goalie for the hated Islanders. Since then I’ve thought that there’s nothing I want to see more in my life as a sports fan than another goalie fight. But after seeing this kerfuffle between the coaching staffs of Georgia and Missouri, I’ve realized that the only thing better than seeing another hockey goalie fight would be watching two college basketball coaches deal with their respective midlife crises by bashing each other’s skulls in.

Lions vs. Seahawks: Live Stream NFC Wild Card Game Online

The Detroit Lions are going to have their work cut out for them this weekend, as they travel out west to take on the Seattle Seahawks Saturday night in their NFC Wild Card matchup. I think that this could end up being a lackluster game, but nonetheless it’s the playoffs, so there’s always the possibility of it turning out to be an exciting game.

After All Pro wide receiver Calvin Johnson called it quits at the end of last season, not many people expected too much from the Lions this year, but a career year from quarterback Matthew Stafford has Detroit back in the playoffs and even came within a Week 17 game against the Packers from winning the division. Eight of the Lions’ nine wins this year came from them trailing in the fourth quarter, so they have shown they are capable of staying in games, but Saturday could be a different story for them.

The Seahawks seemed to have lost a little bit of their swagger ever since their Super Bowl loss to the Patriots, but yet again here they are in the playoffs. Decimated by injuries and poor offensive line play this year, Seattle is no longer led by their vaunted defense, but now their quarterback Russell Wilson. That’s not to say their defense still shouldn’t be feared, but without safety Earl Thomas, they could have a lot of trouble winning this postseason. That being said, I don’t think they’ll have too much trouble with Detroit this weekend, but things could get dicey for them come the Divisional Round.

WATCH: Michael Crabtree Gets Gold Chain Ripped Off Neck For Second Week In A Row

Last week, in what will go down as one of the most disrespectful football Vines of all-time when the 6-second video platform is soon put to bed, Raiders wideout Michael Crabtree had his gold chain snatched off his neck by Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib.

In the end, Crabtree was the one who got the last laugh because while Talib added to his reputation as one of the biggest wild cards in the NFL, unlike the Broncos the Raiders had earned a spot in this weekend’s wild card round.

But if anybody thought that moment would make Crabtree realize how impractical it is to wear a gold chain while competing in a football game, they were mistaken.

Today Crabtree was back at it with another gold chain around his neck vs. the Texans. And once again it got ripped of his neck, this time during a play.

Based on how the Raiders looked in the first half today with backup quarterback Connor Cook under center in place of the injured Derek Carr, we might have to wait until September to find out if losing his chain two consecutive weeks will make Crabtree decide to leave his chain in the locker room from now on.

Even Kim Kardashian thinks you’re being too careless with your jewelry, Mikey.

Before being blown out by Clemson in last week’s college football playoff semifinal, Ohio State put together an impressive 11-1 campaign. Meanwhile the UCLA Bruins floundered and went 4-8.

So maybe this youngster’s hilarious live reaction to his uncle- five-star cornerback Darnay Holmes- choosing UCLA over the Buckeyes was more justifiable than the decision itself.

It all went down at the US Army All-American Bowl. Holmes is a Calabasas, California native who is the top cornerback in his class and #9 player overall according to Scout.

This is definitely a great talent haul for coach Jim Mora Jr. and UCLA, but if the Bruins head man is anything like his old man, he’ll hope you hold off on the playoff talk for now.

As despondent as Holmes’ nephew became, you have to wonder if Urban Meyer was hitting up the little guy all the time to try to get an upper-hand in recruiting his uncle. I’m obviously joking around, but when it comes to Urban Meyer and recruiting, would that scenario really surprise you?

It’s a rare sight to see a female dunk a basketball in any level, including the WNBA. But to see a 15-year-old high school girl do it just flat-out absurd.

But that’s exactly what Francesca Bellibi of Regis Jeusuit High School in Aurora, Colorado did. And as you can see in the video courtesy of HUDL, the 6-foot-1 Bellibi’s legitmately got above the rim and made it look easy in the process.

If Geno Auriemma isn’t recruiting you already, it won’t be long after he sees this until he gives you a call.

Unreal hops.

Dolphins vs. Steelers: Live Stream AFC Wild Card Game Online

Of all the games this weekend, I think this one may be the biggest mismatch. The Miami Dolphins are heading up north to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Dolphins beat the Steelers earlier this season 30-15, but that was also down in sunny Miami, not in freezing cold Pittsburgh. Personally, I think Miami is going to have their hands full this weekend.

The Dolphins were one of the many surprises this NFL season as they went 10-6, including going on a six-game win streak during the season, the first of those wins which came against Pittsburgh. Miami will most likely be without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who is nursing an injury, and look for Matt Moore to lead them to a victory. What the Dolphins do have going for them is running back Jay Ajayi. He had his coming out party against the Steelers when they first played, a game in which he ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns and then resulted in him rushing for 1,272 yards and eight touchdowns on the season. Miami proved that they are capable of beating Pittsburgh, but this time will be very different than their first matchup.

Pittsburgh is coming into the playoffs playing as hot as anyone. They’ve won their last seven games. Led by their three-headed monster aka the best offense in football with Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, and Le’Veon Bell, the Steelers never have any problem putting up points. Their spotty defense has also improved drastically over the second half of the season, which has been a large part of their success during the win streak. I personally think that the Steelers will take care of business on Sunday and win pretty handily, but I also said that in their matchup with Miami earlier this season, so we’ll just have to tune in on Sunday to see how it plays out.

New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers Live Stream: How to Watch Online

The NFL playoffs have finally arrived, but unfortunately for the casual fan, three of the four games during Wild Card Weekend don’t look too promising. However, we do have one matchup between two of the hottest teams in the league. The New York Giants are traveling up to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers in what should end up being the game of the weekend.

After missing the playoffs the previous five seasons since their 2011 Super Bowl win, the Giants are back in the postseason and looking to make some noise. Like their last two Super Bowl runs, New York has a stout defense and quarterback Eli Manning at the helm. If the Giants want to come away with a win this Sunday, the defense will have a tall task stopping the explosive Packers offense, and Eli and company will have to be able to put up some points on offense, which they haven’t been great at doing this year. The offense will also have to be able to sustain a few long drives to keep that Green Bay offense off the field.

Speaking of the Packers, Green Bay is playing as good as anyone in the league right now, winning their last six games after going 4-6 in their first ten games. Much like every other season, the Packers are led by their future Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, who had another MVP-like season throwing for 40 touchdowns which led the league. Their defense has hit the injury bug pretty hard this year, so if the Pack want to move on to the Divisional Round next week, they’ll have to do so by taking New York receiver Odell Beckham Jr. completely out of the game.

Green Bay beat New York earlier this season, but the playoffs are very different from the regular season, and it could be anyone’s game. As a Giants fan, I’m very excited/nervous for this game, and cannot wait for Sunday.

Comedian Bill Burr To Spice Up Dolphins-Steelers Game With Facebook Live Commentary

As a Giants fan, I have a lot of respect for what Phil Simms did during his playing career in the NFL. But as someone with ears, even I must admit that Phil Simms is nearly unlistenable as an announcer.

From notoriously saying “talked about” 50 times a game to providing some of the most nonsensical analysis in the league, there’s no wonder there’s a @philsimmsquotes Twitter account with 38.8 thousand followers that deridingly live tweets every game Simms calls.

But today stand-up comedian Bill Burr is throwing us a lifeline by doing probably NSFW commentary on Facebook Live for the Steelers-Dolphins game. If you want to be spared listening to Phil Simms and instead laugh your ass off, tune in on the All Things Comedy Facebook page starting at 1 p.m EST.

Burr is a Boston-bred comic known for his several stand-up specials on Netflix, the animated Netflix sitcom F is for Family and hosting the Monday Morning Podcast since 2007.

For a sampling of what to expect out of Burr, here is him providing mock commentary for a Bulls-Celtics game that is equal parts hysterical and profane.

Burr is a Patriots fan and more of a hockey guy than anything else, so it’s unclear how sophisticated his account of the otherwise unexciting Steelers-Dolphins will be. But no matter what, you know listening to Bill Burr will be a helluva lot better than cringing to Phil Simms calls for three hours.

LISTEN: Mark Hamill Reads A Trump Tweet As The Joker And It’s Actually Fitting

A quick glance at Donald Trump’s Twitter account is all it takes to realize the guy’s got a screw loose. But because we live in an age when the ability to attract attention is the only character trait that matters, America decided it was time for this Twitter troll to be president.

But the reality is the guy is going to be president, and all we can do at this point is hope he’s not quite as much a loose cannon when he gets into the oval office as his internet persona suggests he might be.

Recently Trump showed that he could even Trumpify a “Happy New Year” message, which had until then been more or less homogenous for every politician in human history.

Mark Hamill, who in addition to his best-known role as Luke Skywalker has voiced Joker in various Batman cartoons beginning in the 90’s, noticed the absurdity of this particular tweet by the soon-to-be 45th president of the United States. And the actor recorded a rendition in his Joker voice, which remarkably seems extremely fitting for the content of the tweet.

This is pretty perfect.

But Mark, I have some bad news to break to you…

Trump is your father.

WATCH: ACC Deems It Inconclusive If Duke’s Grayson Tried To Trip Yet Another Player… You Be The Judge

I’ve always hated Duke and everything they stand for, so it was a surreal experience when two years ago I got to see a Duke game from the student section of Cameron Indoor Stadium amongst the scum known as the Cameron Crazies. One of my closest friends went to Duke and I was ready to go rogue and rub it in all the Dukies around me’s faces if Syracuse pulled off the upset. But unfortunately the whole afternoon was a disappointment for me as Duke cruised to a blowout win and, frustratingly, none of the players on that team that a few months later went on to win the 2015 NCAA Championship were particularly unlikable.

Thankfully for us Duke detractors AKA anyone with a conscience, the world started to make sense again last season thanks to Duke once again having a pretentious white guy to validate the world’s hatred of Duke. And after being handed a suspension  from Coach K this season for repeatedly tripping dudes, Grayson Allen may already be the most detestable super-villain Dukie since Christian Laetner himself.

And yesterday, after sitting out just one game after being suspended “indefinitely”,  it appeared that Grayson Allen tried to pull yet another signature Grayson Allen trip.

While sure, there’s a chance it was just a natural reaction to fighting through the screen, if anyone’s lost the benefit of the doubt it’s Grayson Allen. Yet the ACC today deemed it inconclusive whether or not Allen’s intention was to trip the Boston College player.

But anybody with two eyes and a brain knows that Grayson Allen knows what he was trying to do. Including former Boston College player and current Detroit Pistons point guard Reggie Jackson.

College basketball is finally back, and mostly because Grayson Allen gives us a legit reason to hate Duke again.

Giants Players Warm Up Shirtless On Frozen Tundra At Lambeau Field, Showing How Tough/Foolish They Are

(Screenshot via video from Twitter/ @Giants)

Clearly I’m not a football player, just a guy with a laptop who’s currently sitting on a couch in my parents’ heated house, but everything I know about the human body tells me that warming up shirtless in 12 degree weather probably isn’t the smartest idea. But that’s exactly what the offensive skill players for my Giants did today at Lambeau Field before their late afternoon playoff game against the Green Bay Packers.

Young savages, indeed. Certainly not young epidemiologists though.

After seeing the Giants receivers partying in Miami less than a week ago with the likes of Johnny Manziel and Justin Bieber, I was worried that they were boozing it up this morning and weren’t worried about the cold because they had their alcohol jackets on.

But according to Rachel Nichols, this is the same thing the Giants 2007 and 2011 teams did before their wins at Lambeau Field en route to winning the Super Bowl.

So as a Giants fan, I may not get the point of  warming up without your shirt on, but I’m certainly not mad about it either.

A bit closer to the game, Beckham made the wise move to throw on some layers.

Hopefully this seemingly pointless charade gives Big Blue some sort of mental edge. If they do pull of the win though, I seriously doubt it will be because some of their players “warmed up” shirtless in the freezing cold.

WATCH: Aaron Rodgers Pulls Off Another Miracle Hail Mary Touchdown At End Of The First Half Vs. Giants

Aaron Rodgers proved once again at the end of the first half that he’s the best in the business at the hail mary. Or at least just that he’s had the best luck at it.

With 6 seconds left, the Packers dropped a would-be completion on third down that would have run out the clock because Green Bay had used all their timeouts. As a Giants fan, I was absolutely terrified at the prospect of Aaron Rodgers taking a shot at the endzone, and clearly with good reason.

Receiver Randall Cobb somehow got behind Big Blue’s defense to complete the hail mary to give Green Bay the 14-6 lead despite being outplayed for the majority of the first half. It’s really painful to have to type this out, but all I can do is tip my hat to the Packers.

And from another angle:

As Troy Aikman pointed out on Fox, the last time these two teams met in the playoffs it was Eli Manning and the Giants who ended the first half with a hail mary touchdown.

You can expect some more drama at Lambeau in the second half.

After drubbing the Miami Dolphins 30-12 in Sunday’s AFC Wildcard game, Pittsburgh Steelers assistant coach and former player Joey Porter was arrested at a Pittsburgh bar for “drunkenly assaulting a doorman.”

According to the official police release, security guards at The Flats on Carson reported an unruly customer to a police officer. The unruly customer was Porter, who was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

The official press release:

At approximately 9:30 P.M., security guards at The Flats on Carson summoned a Pittsburgh Police Officer who was working at a nearby restaurant due to an unruly customer who was in the process of assaulting the doorman. Once he arrived on the scene, the Officer stopped the assault and arrested the actor, identified as 39-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter. Porter was taken to the Allegheny County Jail. His charges include aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

Porter, who was known for being a rambunctious player during his day, also made headlines last year during the playoffs for an on-field altercation during Pittsburgh’s postseason victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

As for the Steelers, they are aware of the incident and released a statement:

The Steelers head to Kansas City this weekend to take on the Chiefs in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs. Porter’s status for that game has yet to be determined.

What Happened?

Pittsburgh Steelers assistant coach Joey Porter was arrested for  aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public drunkenness.

French police arrested a gang of veteran armed robbers, aged 50-72, in connection with stealing millions of dollars worth of jewelry from Kim Kardashian in Paris back in October. Kardashian was tied up and locked a bathroom as the gang stole a ring worth around $4 million and a case of jewelry worth $5 million.

According to Daily Mail, police-coordinated raids around 6:00 A.M. led to the arrest of sa total of 16 men, including a “major thug.” DNA found on a piece of tape used to gag Kardashian that led to the arrest. After three months of tests, it was finally found that the DNA corresponded to a well-known criminal who had been involved in numerous armed robberies.

The suspects, who have yet to be named, can be held for up to 96 hours before being charged or released. According to reports, the homes of the sixteen men are still being searched, with police seizing documents and other potential evidence.

After months of detailed police work, DNA has now been found in the Hotel de Pourtales – also known as ‘No Address,’ which is close to the U.S. Embassy in the French capital.

The forensics material matches that of a well-known armed robber with a number of convictions whom another officer described as a ‘major thug’. All the others arrested were linked to him.

‘Coordinated raids took place at 6 AM today,’ said the source. ‘The men were arrested at addresses in greater Paris and in the Gard department.

Last week Kardashian, 36, posted her first photo on Instagram since the robbery:

The five men thought to have been directly involved in the attack are facing charges of armed robbery by an organized gang, criminal conspiracy, and kidnapping.

Donald Trump Considers Meryl Streep “One Of The Most Over-Rated Actresses In Hollywood”

Meryl Streep, widely considered the world’s greatest living actress, accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award at last night’s 74th Golden Globes. During her speech, Streep spoke about President-elect Donald Trump’s mockery of a disabled reporter, saying “it broke [her] heart” and that she “still can’t get it out of [her] head.”

Trump, who is set to be sworn into the nation’s highest office in just 10 days, continued acting like a petulant child, waking up bright & early this morning to respond to Streep on Twitter, calling her “over-rated” (which is one word, by the way).

It’s safe to say you can add acting (along with things such as foreign policy and common decency) to the growing list of things Donald Trump is clueless about: Meryl Streep has more Academy Award nominations than any actor or actress. Ever.

Only Donald Trump can find a way to beef with one of the most beloved and well-respected actresses in the history of American cinema.

Odell Beckham’s Latest Postgame Antics Prove He Still Doesn’t “Get It”

The New York Giants got smoked by the Green Bay Packers in last night’s NFC Wildcard game, 38-13. Odell Beckham Jr., far and away the Giants’ best player, had one of his poorest performances of the season, with just 28 yards on four catches, along with two huge drops. That’s a smaller output than Victor Cruz, Sterling Shepard, Will Tye, and f*cking Tavvares King (who?). For a player of Beckham’s stature, that type of performance is unacceptable.

Naturally, sports media was quick to point to Beckham’s Miami boat trip last week as one of the reasons for his poor performance. However, Beckham, being the self-centered player he was, quickly went on the defensive in his postgame press conference by defending his own actions and pointing fingers at the rest of the team:

At the end of the day, I went though practice — had zero drops, zero missed assignments. There was nothing that could connect seven days ago to today, and how we came out and played and executed. There’s just nothing in the world, it’s not realistic.

I think it did a great job of creating distractions for us, and it’s unfortunate — that’s just the way this world is. And there’s just no way you can connect something that happened seven days ago to this game, today, how we came out and played, and how the Packers have won seven in a row, and how they scored 38 points, and how they executed, they came up with the 3rd downs — they did what they needed to do.

The connection is just not there, in my opinion, but everybody’s going to have their own opinions.

This quote right here lays out everything that’s wrong with Odell Beckham. In his eyes, it’s the media’s fault for overhyping his trip to Miami, and not his fault for going. He says that there’s no connection between his boat trip and his performance, even though he opened himself up to the criticism by going in the first place. Until Odell Beckham realizes he doesn’t make the rules, he’s going to continue to be one of the most frustrating players in the league.

Furthermore, reports indicate that Beckham punched a hole in a wall outside of the Giants’ locker room after his press conference.

Via NJ.com:

He put a hole in a sheetrock wall outside of the Giants locker room, according to members of the Packers’ ground crew, the latest example of the talented receiver losing his cool after a loss.

That led a member of the grounds crew to peek his head out of a door where Beckham was standing next to a six-inch hole in the wall, according to Mark Hollister, another grounds crew employee. ESPN later reported that the NFL was investigating.

“(The first grounds crew member) said, ‘C’mon man,’ and he was told to f— off,” Hollister said. “No one saw him punching the wall but basically he was standing right there.”

All of this is proof that despite the fact Beckham has been in the league for three years now, he still doesn’t get it.
