With no shortage of NFL players overall, the University of Miami has been historically strong in several areas of their program. Most notably, their pass-catchers have been among the best. From the 1980s through the 2000s “The U” has given football many elite wide receivers on both the college and professional levels. Several great ones will be left off this list however, as the top five Hurricane receivers are profiled.

5. Lamar Thomas (1989-1992)

Born: Ocala, Florida
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 200 lbs

Thomas may have achieved his success in the NFL playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1993-95) and Miami Dolphins (1996-00) but his career was unfortunately cut short due to injuries. Thomas would spend his last two seasons on injured reserve and have his best season as a pro, catching 43 receptions for 603 yards and five scores.

With the Hurricanes, Thomas would leave as the all-time leader in receiving yards before having the record broken years later. He was a member of Miami teams penalized for past NCAA infractions but was a lone bright spot in an unforgettable time for the program.

It wasn’t always pretty, though, as Thomas is also known for being the victim of “The Strip” game. It was a 1993 Sugar Bowl route by way of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

4. Santana Moss (1997-2000)

Born: Miami, Florida
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 195 lbs

Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Hurricanes defeated the Buckeyes 23-12.

Moss is a classic “little guy, big heart” player. Moss played for four seasons at Miami and improved every year until a crowded receiving corp appeared on campus in the 2000 season. He amassed 2,547 receiving yards on 143 catches and scored 19 touchdowns. He was the glowing light on an otherwise middling late ’90s Miami program. He regressed a tad in the 2000 season to 748 yards and five touchdowns (down from 899 yards and six scores in 1999), however, he would be awarded Big East Offensive Player of the Year and consensus All-American despite it. His draft stock would not take a hit in the coming spring, either.

Moss was taken by the New York Jets in the first round of the NFL Draft with the 16th pick. He would play four seasons with Gang Green before spending the majority of his career with the Washington Redskins (2005-14). In his career, he caught 732 balls for 10,283 yards and scored 61 touchdowns. He was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl representative in 2005.

As he did in college, he also made a mark as a punt returner gaining 1,398 yards and scoring three times.

3. Andre Johnson (2000-02)

Born: Miami, Florida
Height: 6’3″
Weight: 230 lbs

For years Johnson was the glimmer of hope that the Houston Texans might have a chance of contending for the playoffs. A few playoff appearances would arrive, but overall those Texan teams never succeeded with Johnson and he was cut loose by the team after the 2014 season. The wideout would still cultivate a Hall of Fame career however, catching 1,062 passes for 14,185 yards averaging out to 13.4 yards per play. Johnson found the end zone 70 times during his time in Houston (2003-14), the Indianapolis Colts (2015), and the Tennessee Titans (2016). He was drafted in the first round by Houston with the third overall pick in 2003.

Johnson’s glory days arguably could be pointed to in Miami, as he succeeded both individually and as a member of the Hurricanes. Playing three seasons from 2000-02, he was a 2001 National Champion and appeared in two title games during that time. Despite little production in the 2000 season, he still registered 1,831 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns for his career while having to share the production with some not-so-slouch teammates.

Johnson’s physical gifts and time at Miami allowed him more individual success in the NFL, but his team success was in South Florida.

2. Michael Irvin (1985-87)

Born: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Height: 6’2″
Weight: 210 lbs

Irvin helped lay the foundation at Miami, starting there for three seasons and capping off his final campaign with a 1987 National Championship. In each season, he would catch no fewer than 40 passes, receive no fewer than 700 yards and scored no fewer than six touchdowns. It was just the beginning for “The Playmaker,” as he was chosen in the first round of the 1988 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

Irvin would be a member of the famed Triplets, helping guide the Cowboys to their three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. From 1991-95 Irvin was a Pro Bowler and was a first-team All-Pro once (1991) and second-team All-Pro twice (1992, 1993). In his career he caught 750 passes for 11,904 yards and 60 touchdowns. His career was cut short due to injuries, but his bust still resides in the Pro Football Hall of Fame because of his 11 seasons of work.

Irvin is also known for off-field the trouble, including a history of cocaine use.

1. Reggie Wayne (1997-2000)

Born: New Orleans, Louisiana
Height: 6’0″
Weight: 200 lbs

Wayne was an absolute workhorse during his entire football career. He arrived on campus in 1997 and immediately made an impact during his career as a four-year starter. He is just one of five players in school history to score 20 or more touchdowns in their career, and he never received fewer than 450 yards in a season. In fact, Wayne gained 630 or more yards three times in his time with the Hurricanes. In 43 career games, he totaled 2,510 yards on 173 receptions averaging 14.3 yards a play.

Wayne would carry that production to the NFL, where he was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts with the 30th pick in the first round in 2001. He would play his entire career in Indy (2001-14) where he was a six-time Pro Bowler (2006-10, 2012) and first-team All-Pro in 2010 and second-team All-Pro in 2007 and 2009. He would become a Super Bowl Champion in 2006 with a victory over the Chicago Bears.

In all, Wayne is a no-doubt future Hall of Famer with 1,070 receptions for 14,345 yards and 82 touchdowns. He is tenth all-time in NFL receptions and receiving yards.

There was nothing too remarkable about the game, as the Pistons won 107-98 in a matchup between two sub-.500 teams. The real excitement in Miami that night came from an absolutely riveting baby race at halftime. Watch these fierce competitors leave it all on the line.

Only four days into the new year and we have our first official super hot wardrobe malfunction from overseas. To be honest, I don’t understand why we don’t see more of these. There are clearly no negative consequences to them and at the end of the day, it’s free publicity. If I were running a European television channel, I’d have a strict ‘one wardrobe malfunction per-month’ mandate.

The latest live TV nip-slip comes from Barcelonian model and actress Sonia Monroy. The 44-year-old Monroy was chatting it up with her co-stars in a wildly low-cut black dress that left little to the imagination in the first place. Seriously, this dress looks like it was specifically designed to facilitate a wardrobe malfunction.

Sonia Monroig Casals, known as Sonia Monroy, is an actress, singer, dancer, and television host from Barcelona, Spain. Most recently, while appearing on a Spanish news television, she had an epic wardrobe malfunction.

The Clemson Tigers have had themselves a hell of a 2016-2017 college football season, making it all the way to the National Championship Game against the University of Alabama, the exact same team they played against (and lost to) in last year’s Championship Game. Alabama football fans are the loudest college football fans on the planet, so it makes total sense that they’ve been making a ton of memes leading up to the 2017 National Championship Game against the Clemson Tigers. Over the past two weeks, there’ve been a lot for them to talk about. In fact, they’ve taken to making fun of their own (former) offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin after he was kinda-sorta fired by Nick Saban just a week before the National Championship Game.

Personally, I believe it’s because Alabama fans are nervous about their team’s ability to dominate as they did in years past. The Crimson Tide were exposed by the Washington Huskies early in the first quarter of the CFB Semi-Final game. We’ve got a doozy on our hands for Wednesday, January 4, as the Villanova Wildcats will take on the Butler Bulldogs in a Big East clash. The Wildcats won it all last year, and they are looking like a damn good bet to cut down the nets again. They are currently 14-0 overall, 2-0 in the Big East, and ranked the #1 team in the country.

The Louisville Cardinals will travel to South Bend to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in an ACC showdown between ranked opponents. #9 Louisville (12-2, 0-1 ACC) is currently in the midst of one of the most grueling stretches of basketball that I’ve ever seen. Their past three games were a 73-70 win over #6 Kentucky, a 61-53 loss to #12 Virginia, and a 77-62 win over #16 Indiana.

It won’t get much easier for Rick Pitino’s squad, as they’ll head on the road to face off against #23 Notre Dame (12-2, 1-0 ACC). It might not matter as much with students still on winter break, but Notre Dame is 9-0 at home this season and they have beaten the Cardinals in their last five games at Purcell Pavilion. The Fighting Irish have also won three straight, including a thrilling 78-77 overtime win at Pittsburgh in their last game.

Last season, Notre Dame and Louisville only met up once. The Irish picked up the W in their February 13 clash, winning 71-66 at home.

Four people have been arrested after footage of a young man allegedly being held hostage, beaten and tortured was streamed on Facebook Live. The Chicago Police Department said they are questioning the fourindividuals that appeared in the footage.

The footage in question shows four black individuals, two of which are women women, holding a young white male hostage in an apartment on the 3400 block of West Lexington oin Chicago. Someone can be heard in the footage yelling ‘f*ck Donald Trump, f*ck white people’ in the video.

The video was streamed on Facebook Live by use Brittany Herring, but was since been deleted.

According to the Daily Mail, the Chicago Police Department says the victim has special needs.

‘It’s sickening,’ Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said at a news conference on Wednesday night.

‘It’s makes you wonder what would make individuals treat somebody like that. I’ve been a cop for 28 years, and I’ve seen things that you shouldn’t see in a lifetime, but it still amazes me how you still see things that you just shouldn’t.

‘I’m not going to say it shocked me, but it was sickening.’

Police said the victim is now in a stable condition in hospital where he is being treated for his injuries.

Police found the victim, who has yet to be identified, walking down the street.

Is it possible Nina Agdal is actually underrated?

Brittany Herring is an 18-year-old girl who posted a Facebook Live video showing a man with special needs being tortured in an apartment on the 3400 block of West Lexington in Chicago. Herring is currently in police custody with three friends, according to authorities. The victim was kidnapped for up to 48 hours before being found in a state of shock, walking around the neighborhood.

Herring, whose real last name is Covington, streamed the video via Facebook Live on Tuesday while she and the other three assailants taunted and beat the victim. The other three suspects, two unidentified males and a female, are also in custody. They are all only 18 years old.

The victim, also 18, was last seen by his parents on New Year’s Eve. According to ABC 7 Chicago, they received texts from their son while he was with the suspects. The victim was hospitalized after the assault but is currently in stable condition. According to the investigation, the victim knew one of the subjects from high school.

Chicago Police described the events that led up to the abduction during a press conference.

While on patrol Officers observed a disoriented male walking 3400 W. Lexington on January 3, 2017 who was then transported to an area hospital for treatment. At 5:26 p.m. officers then responded to a battery at a residence on the 3300 block of W. Lexington where they discovered signs of a struggle and damage to the property and (were) able to link this evidence to the disoriented male. Officers later became aware of a social media video depicting a batter of an adult male which is believed to be the same individual. At this point CPD believes the video is credible and detectives are questioning persons of interest in the case. The victim, whom CPD believes is from a neighboring suburb, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Furthermore, Detective Kevin Duffin of the CPD said the victim is “an acquaintance” of one of the suspects., Duffin says the victim and the suspects “met in the suburbs, the subjects then stole a van out in the suburbs and drove him into Chicago.” Duffin said the victim is “traumatized by the incident,” making it difficult for detectives to communicate.

According to the CPD, the victim and the suspects are still being interviewed, but charges are expected to be filed by Thursday. Furthermore, police are still investigating whether this is a result of stupidity or a hate crime.

“Kids make stupid mistakes, I shouldn’t call them kids, they are legally adults, but they are young adults and the make stupid decisions,” Duffin said.

“That certainly will be part of whether or not we seek a hate crime, determine whether or not this is sincere or stupid ranting and raving.”

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson echoed a similar sentiment during the press conference:

“I think part of it is just stupidity,” Johnson said. “People ranting about something they think might make a headline. At this point we don’t have anything concrete to point (toward a hate crime) but we’ll keep investigating and let the facts guide us on how this concludes.”

A lot of people are taking issue with the law enforcement referring to this crime as stupidity. Twitter users suggest that had the race roles been reversed, it would unquestionably be considered a hate crime. This has caused the hashtag #BLMkidnapping to trend on Twitter.

Brittany Herring, real name Brittany Covington, is an 18-year-old woman from Chicago who has been arrested for kidnapping someone and torturing him on Facebook Live.

What Happened?

Herring and three other unidentified suspects, two males and one female, kidnapped a man with special needs on the 3400 block of West Lexington in Chicago. They tied him up, taunted him, beat him, and forced him to drink out of a toilet.

With 3:13 to go in the first quarter, Westbrook tossed the ball at Maddox’s head after the Thunder called a timeout. Maddox turned his head as Westbrook let her rip, and it hit the referee squarely in the dome piece.

Westbrook was given a technical foul, which is his 10th of the season. After 16 technical fouls, you receive a one-game suspension.

After the game, Westbrook addressed the situation, saying it was an accident.

“I called his name. He turned right at me and then looked away. I don’t know,” Westbrook said. “I don’t know what to tell you, brother. I really don’t. I’m not the type of guy … I would never, ever disrespect the game like that and throw the ball at the referee. I’ve never done it before. That’s just not even heard of in the game before. To get a tech, it’s crazy to me. But you take the good with the bad.”

Had this been someone with a worse reputation than Russ, like a Boogie Cousins or Lance Stephenson, they probably would have been tossed. And although Westbrook is known to be a fiery competitor, he’s also known to be respectful so a move like this would be completely out of character. Good on the refs for not tossing him.

Anyway, Oakland, take a good look at this video and tell me he isn’t better than whoever the hell you’re starting this weekend against Houston.

Trish Stratus is still amazingly gorgeous years. After hanging up her boots and retiring from professional wrestling, this Canadian-born beauty has transitioned her talents to yoga. She is a WWE Hall of Famer, a pioneer in women’s wrestling and a role model to millions around the globe. She brought athleticism and grace to the wrestling ring in the early to mid-2000s. Trish’s beauty transcends the stratosphere.

Stratus grew up in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. She is a former fitness model, appearing as the cover girl for the May 1998 issue of MuscleMag International, which earned her a two-year contract with the publication. After leaving this magazine, she spent the next six months as a cover girl for other publications. During this time, she transitioned her talents to the radio, becoming the third host of Live Audio Wrestling on Toronto Sports Radio. It wouldn’t be long before she became the cover girl of professional wrestling in the WWE.

Trish admits to being a lifelong wrestling fan. In November 1999, her childhood dream came true when she signed with the then World Wrestling Federation (now WWE). On the March 19, 2000 episode of WWE Sunday Night Heat, Stratus made her official debut. Stratus started off as a manager for the makeshift tandem of Test and Albert, collectively known as T&A (obvious sexual innuendo). In the beginning, she was very popular eye candy for the fans, who cheered more for Trish than her teammates. But very shortly into her WWE career, her in-ring talents became more and more apparent. She brought the women’s division to the main event when leaders of WWE’s current Women’s (formerly Divas) Revolution were still in grade school. She is a record setting seven-time WWE Women’s Champion. She competed in stellar contests with the likes of Lita, Molly Holly, Victoria, Mickie James and Jazz. She has appeared in so many of WWE’s video games, with 20 appearances in total, starting with WWF SmackDown! 2: Know Your Role. She left on top as champion and with an amazing career that is very hard to match. She did come back for one more match though at WrestleMania XXVII and teamed up with John Morrison and Snooki (of all people). They took on the tandem of Dolph Ziggler & LayCool (Michelle McCool & Layla). And she is no stranger to WrestleMania matches. Soulja Boy and Chris Brown have been going at it for days on Twitter, Instagram, and everywhere else but real life. But now it looks like all of that is going to change, because apparently Soulja Boy and Chris Brown are going to enter the boxing ring to hash things out man to man.

During the heated exchanges, Chris Brown told his boxing friend Adrien Broner to “warm up the ring” on Instagram because he wanted to put Soulja Boy to sleep… legally. And that all changed this morning when Soulja Boy doubled up on his Chris Brown insults, telling the world that he wasn’t like Rihanna and that he wasn’t finned to be knocked out by anyone, especially not Chris Brown. So the boxing match is on. For now. And if Chris Brown is being trained by Adrien Broner, Soulja Boy needs someone to get him right in the ring…

Enter Floyd Mayweather aka the guy who has zero problem being the bad guy as long as it means he gets to make some money on the side. Like, there’s no doubt in my mind that both Chris Brown and Soulja Boy are both abhorrent people, but if you had to choose one to be friends with, you’re choosing Chris Brown. So it makes perfect sense that Floyd Mayweather will step in to not only promote the fight, but to make sure that Soulja Boy’s abilities are good enough for pay-per-view.

Watching that video, you can almost tell that Floyd knows Soulja is a fugazi, but that he’s excited to make some cash. He never says that Soulja Boy will win, he never says anything about Chris Brown, he just smiles and says, “We gonna get that money.”

Now for the real question. Do I think that this fight is actually going to happen? Hell no. Hell to the no. Unless WorldstarHipHop has a way to make PPV fights happen, no one is going to pick this up. But that’s not stopping the hype, is it?

There has been a car bomb and gun attack near a courthouse in Izmir, Turkey. Two attackers, one policeman, and one civilian have been killed so far in the incident. The policeman and civilian were killed as a result of the explosion, and the two gunmen were killed in the following gunfight. According to the governor of Izmir, Erol Ayyildiz, the vehicle caught the attention of police officers after it stopped suspiciously in front of the courthouse, soon after which the bomb was detonated.

According to BBC, in addition to the four deaths, early reports indicate that anywhere from 5-20 people have been wounded in the explosion, some of whom are in critical condition. At this time, it is not clear who is responsible for the attack, but Turkish officials say the initial investigation points to Kurdish rebels.

The attack comes just days after a gunman stormed an Istanbul nightclub on New Year’s Eve, killing 39 people. So far, there has been no claim of responsibility or indication of who may have orchestrated the attack.

After five long years, my New York Football Giants are finally back in the postseason. Much like their last two Super Bowl runs, they have to play at Lambeau Field and take on the Green Bay Packers, led by quarterback and MVP candidate Aaron Rodgers.

The G-Men landed one of the Wild Card spots as they went 11-5 this year, including two wins against their rivals and division champs the Dallas Cowboys. The strength in New York comes from their defense, as they’ve been one of the best in the NFL this year, and will look to carry the Giants throughout the playoffs.

If the Giants want to make some noise in the playoffs, they’re going to have to do it all on the road, because the only chance they have of a home game is if they meet the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship game, which I don’t see happening. Take a look below at the Giants’ playoff schedule for their Wild Card matchup this weekend, as well as for potential Divisional and Conference Championship games.

Wild Card Round

The New York Giants will travel to Green Bay to take on the Packers Sunday, January 8 at 4:40 P.M. EST. The game will be played on FOX.

Divisional Round

If the Giants beat Green Bay this Sunday, their next game will most likely be against the Cowboys in Dallas January 15, at 4:40 P.M. EST, with the game being played on FOX. If the Detroit Lions beat the Seattle Seahawks this Saturday (which I don’t see happening), New York will then travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons Saturday, January 14, at 4:35 P.M. EST. That game will also be shown on FOX.

NFC Championship Game

If/when (wishful thinking on my end) the Giants make it to the NFC Championship game, the game will be played Sunday, January 22 at 3:05 P.M. EST on FOX.

Super Bowl 51

Sticking to hypotheticals, if the Giants make it all the way to the Super Bowl (for hopefully a third time against the Patriots), that game will be February 5 in Houston, Texas at 6:30 P.M. on FOX.
