The Lakers and the Clippers continue their longtime rivalry this Christmas Day in the Staples Center. These two LA teams first battled on October 30, 1970, when the Clippers was a team in San Diego called the Buffalo Braves. The team we now called the Los Angeles Clippers won their initial meeting in 1970. But overall, the Lakers are leading with the most victories against the Clippers in this heated rivalry. The Lakers have beaten the Clippers 98 times, while the Clippers have only defeated the Lakers 44 times in the 138 times they’ve battled.
Historically, the Lakers have the edge on the Clippers. However, in 2015, the Clippers defeated the Lakers in all three of their encounters. They’ll be facing off once more as a Christmas present to the fans of each team. They’ll both return home to the Staples Center. But only one Los Angeles team will reign supreme on Christmas night.
