John Wick was one of the biggest cinematic surprises I’ve ever experienced. What I thought would be a totally awful B-movie starring Keanu Reeves turned out to be one of the most kickass action movies I’d seen in some time. It also took place in my home state of New Jersey, which carries some serious brownie points.

In John Wick 2, “legendary hitman John Wick is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome, where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.”

John Wick: Chapter 2 stars Keanu Reeves, Common, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, and John Leguizamo. It is directed by Chad Stahelski, and will be released in theaters on February 10, 2017.

Much to the disappointment of many, Apple‘s newly released iPhone 7 had one design element that was widely considered to be flawed: no more 3.5mm headphone jack. People responded to this change with outrage, and others looked hopeful in finding what this new technology could bring them in the future. The Apple AirPods are that new technology that attempts to bring something new to the table in the absence of the beloved headphone jack, and it seems to be a pretty cool thing so far.

The Apple AirPods were released on December 13, 2016 in North America, and they were released in the UK just today. Unfortunately for the average consumer, these neat little wireless headphones ask for a hefty price on launch at $159 or £159 respectively, which is a bit steeper than in the US. The Apple AirPods are also going to be released in many other countries, so no matter where you are, chances are that you can pick these up… if the supply wasn’t so limited. Today, the UK launch was met with small amounts of AirPods to sell to consumers, and they effectively sold out in minutes. This is unfortunate for any average consumer who might be interested in picking up the new tech for a Christmas present, but Apple does plan on shipping out more units at a later date, so hopefully the problem can be rectified.

For now, though, what are people saying about the new Apple AirPods? Originally, when they were first announced, I remembered critics and consumers alike being scared for the future of Apple with no headphone jack. It’s a bit silly, but most people claimed that they would not be buying the new iPhone 7. There were also remarks about how wireless headphones were impractical because of the small size, and that consumers would easily lose or break them. Today, we can see that many people have already purchased the device and that the Apple AirPods are next in line.

Today in Washington D.C., the members of the United States electoral college will be casting their votes for the next President of the United States. Based on the results of the presidential election, Trump should win with 306 electoral college votes.

The states with confirmed live streaming capabilites are Alaska, California, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

The seventh week of the college basketball season has quietly arrived, and the AP released their rankings for this week’s Top 25. There weren’t any teams that fell out of the Top 25 this week, but the Carolinas (North and South) were two of the notable teams that fell in the rankings down to numbers eight and 22 respectively. I don’t put too much stock into North Carolina’s loss to Kentucky on Saturday because Kentucky is one of the better teams in the country, and freshman guard Malik Monk played out of his mind and dropped 47 points on the Tarheels. Villanova comes into this week still at the top of the rankings, followed by UCLA, Kansas, Baylor, and Duke for a second consecutive week. Here’s how the rest of the Top 25 shaped out this week:

Mevlut Mert Altintas has been identified as the assassin who shot and killed Andrei Karlov, the Russian ambassador to Turkey, at an art exhibit opening on Monday evening. The event was held at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Ankara’s central Çankaya district.

The assassination was aired on live television, as Altintas surprised everyone when he pulled out a gun and shot Ambassador Karlov multiple times at point-blank distance. The killer was heard yelling things about Aleppo, including, “We die in Aleppo, you die here,” before he was eventually neutralized by Ankara Police special forces.

While I sit on my couch binge-watching HGTV and dreaming about one day having my own interior design show, Abigail is out there actually making it happen. OK, maybe she doesn’t have her own show, but she is designing commercial real-estate spaces and condos. For three years, the now senior at George Mason University was an interior designer, and all I can think is ‘how???’ In high school, I was selling women’s shoes at Macy’s part-time and she’s doing the work of a full-time trained professional.

It’s pretty safe to say that at just 20-years-old, Abigail is killin’ it. After graduation, she hopes to get into real estate investing and backpack across Europe…BRB while I contemplate all of my life decisions up until now.

Who do you look up to the most and why?

Without a doubt, the person I look up to the most is my mom. Since I can remember, we’ve always been so close, and as cliche as it sounds, I wouldn’t be where I am today without her endless love and constant support. We’ve been through just about everything together; she’s my biggest fan and greatest teacher. We even have matching tattoos! Haha. She taught me how to love and live life to the fullest. She’s the most incredible cook, and I swear she can make a gourmet dinner out of anything; I certainly miss that in DC. Going away to college was a big decision, especially hundreds of miles away, but she has encouraged me to follow my dreams and since then, I have truly gained a greater appreciation for life. She’s my hero, role model, and my greatest inspiration.

Name one thing on your bucket list.

I dream of traveling the world one day, and so one thing on my bucket list is to backpack across Europe! Your whole life you hear about these places and the cultures, but not many people actually get to experience it. I think backpacking Europe would be an eye-opening experience and truly impactful to see all that this world has to offer. From the architecture of Rome to the history in Venice, to the different foods and ways of life in each city, I think backpacking would be the most incredible way to begin experiencing the world.

Give your BFF a shoutout! What’s his/her name and how long have you been besties?

Well, here it is Savannah! I met Savannah my junior year of high school at the Washington Journalism and Media Conference; however, it wasn’t until the following year when we were both selected as interns that we became best friends. From the first night we met, bonding as we were in tears laughing at the Gymnastic Fails on Youtube, to the countless memories we have shared since, you truly are my best friend. It’s not every day, if even in your lifetime, that you find your soulmate in your best friend. Looking back over these last three years, I truly couldn’t imagine living them without you. Thank you for always standing beside me, for believing in me, and for truly being the best friend I could have ever asked for. When words become enough to tell you what you mean to me, I’ll be sure to let you know. Love you always, Sav.

Do you have any secret talents?

A [semi]-secret talent that I have would be that I love to design, paint and draw. I worked as an interior designer for three years and got to assist in designing condo spaces, commercial spaces and seasonal decorations for reputable orthopedic centers. I have also always loved to draw and paint in any free time that I have; I find it relaxing and a great way to free my mind.

In addition to drawing and painting, Abigail is also very passionate about Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. As a proud sister of Zeta Tau Alpha, she’s become an advocate and volunteer for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, her sorority’s national philanthropy.

How does your sorority, ZTA, help promote Breast Cancer Education and Awareness?

ZTA promotes Breast Cancer Education and Awareness through campus events, service projects, community outreach, workshops and fundraisers! While the month of October is one of our busiest yet most rewarding months, we host events all year around. Some of our favorite events include Big Man on Campus, a male beauty pageant where contestants compete in talent and dress. Some other favorites are our Think Pink Fashion Show and Pink Out Flag Football Tournament. These events have allowed us to raise both awareness and money for this foundation on campus and in our community. In the month of October alone we were so excited to have raised over $10,000! 

What have you done personally for Breast Cancer Education and Awareness, and what is the most rewarding part?

One of my favorite events ZTA participates in would have to be the Crucial Catch Game. Not many people know, but ZTA is partnered with the National Football League (NFL)! This began in 1999 with the Washington Redskins for the very first National Football League Think Pink Game. Through this partnership and with the help of dedicated volunteers, ZTA now distributes over a million breast cancer awareness pink ribbons each year at NFL stadiums across the country! It has been an incredible way to join with sisters from local chapters for a common cause. From this event, I have met survivors, families of survivors, and even those battling breast cancer right now. Since the start of this partnership, the NFL has allowed players to wear pink for the games, created pink team merchandise and together we have truly raised awareness for this incredible cause. 

The most rewarding part about working with Zeta Tau Alpha foundation is seeing the impact that we can make. ZTA is currently partnered with the American Cancer Society, National Football League and Bright Pink. Through these partnerships, ZTA has not only been able to raise awareness for breast cancer, but has been able to educate ourselves and the community on this disease. “1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S.“, and “1 in 4 women will be affected by breast cancer in some way.” Furthermore, breast cancer not only affects women but it can, and does affect men as well. Through ZTA I have been able to help fundraise, educate and raise awareness with hopes that soon we will find a cure and that one day, it will be gone.

How can someone help if they aren’t a member of ZTA?

Raising awareness begins with one motion, and while ZTA works to raise money and awareness, anyone can get involved! Whether that be attending the next Crucial Catch game at your local stadium next fall, wearing pink in October (or every month!), or donating through our ZTA Theta Chi philanthropy donation link. Awareness begins with one person, but with some help, can impact the world.

So does the United States deliver mail on Christmas Day? No, mail is not delivered on Christmas. No, I could not sugar coat it any other way, sorry. You’ll have enough sugar come the holidays, trust me. Unless your dietary restrictions advise you not to, then my bad. But I devised a strategy to help make delivering packages simplified.

Here are some deadlines to follow to make sure packages arrive on time:

All post offices and federal offices will be closed this Christmas, as well as the following day, Monday. Here is a list of carriers that will not be delivering mail, including their holiday schedules:

A truck ran into a Christmas market Monday evening in Berlin during what police describe as a “severe incident.” There were no immediate details on injuries however, it is now being reported that there are at least nine people dead and at least 50 injured.

German newspapers Berliner Zeitung and Berliner Morgenpost reported that the truck ran into the market at Breitscheidplatz, which is near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Both newspapers reported it wasn’t immediately clear whether the incident was an accident or some kind of terrorist attack, however, police on the scene are saying their initial investigations lead them to believe it was a deliberate attack. Similarly, one witness cited by CNN said, “It didn’t feel like it was an accident.”

Via Reuters:

Local media, citing police at the scene, said first indications pointed to an attack on the market, situated near the fashionable Kurfuerstendamm avenue and at the foot of the ruined Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church that was kept as a ruin after World War Two.

The incident evoked memories of an attack in France in July when Tunisian-born Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove a 19-tonne truck along the beach front, mowing down people who had gathered to watch the fireworks on Bastille Day, killing 86 people.

The company that owns the truck is a Polish company named Ariel Zurawski, named after the company’s owner. There were two men in the truck cab, one fled and another has been arrested. A third man, previously unknown to police, was found dead inside the cab. There’s a high probability that the dead man is Ariel’s cousin. A truck crashed into a Berlin Christmas market on Monday night, injuring multiple people and likely killing more. Many people are wondering whether it’s an attack or just an accident, but the answers aren’t 100% clear right now. German police are now suggesting that it looks like a terrorist attack.

From what we’ve read, witnesses say the truck jumped the curb of the sidewalk near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, where the Christmas Village was set up. The Village itself is actually located in Breitscheidplatz, the largest city center in Berlin, making it the largest Christmas village in the city.

Update–3:49 P.M.: Ariel Żurawski, the owner of the company that owns the truck, just made a public statement alleging that he believes that the truck was hijacked. “According to me, they did something to the driver, hijacked the truck and they did what they did. This wasn’t my driver. I vouch for him, he was my cousin.”

Unfortunately, this would match the story that police are now making public: that there was a man found dead inside the truck.

Update–3:34 P.M.: Police say that two men were inside the truck and that both men fled. One has been arrested.

Update–3:38 P.M.: The tweet below reads “A suspect has been arrested & a passenger is dead.” It’s unclear if the passenger is a suspect or otherwise.

The media reports that the truck has a Polish license plate. Reuters now reports that at least nine people have died and that 50 have been injured.

A truck ran into a Christmas market Monday evening in Berlin during what police describe as a “severe incident.” Reports indicate that the truck was moving at about 40 MPH, and there are nine people dead, as well as at least 50 people injured. German police say initial indications from their investigation lead them to believe the crash was a deliberate attack. Similarly, one witness cited by CNN said, “It didn’t feel like it was an accident.” The driver of the truck is now in police custody after initially fleeing the scene, while a passenger in the cab died in the crash.

German newspapers Berliner Zeitung and Berliner Morgenpost reported that the truck ran into the market at Breitscheidplatz, which is near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. Both newspapers reported that it wasn’t immediately clear whether the incident was an accident or some kind of terrorist attack. However, now local media, citing police at the scene, are saying that first indications point to an attack on the market.

The incident is similar to the attack in France in July when Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel drove his truck into a crowd that had gathered to watch the fireworks on Bastille Day, killing 86 people.

The owner of the truck is a Polish man named Ariel Zurawski. There were two men in the truck cab–one fled and another has been arrested. A third man, previously unknown to police, was found dead inside the cab. There’s a high probability that it’s Ariel’s dead cousin, who was driving the truck originally. Berlin police have advised residents to “stay at home” and urged people not to spread rumors.

YouTube VR

Ok, so YouTube has been around for years… over a decade now, actually. It’s nice to see that a tool that nearly everyone uses has found a way to take its services into the future by adding VR support. Owners of VR devices can now watch 360-degree videos without having to click around with the mouse. By simply turning one’s head a viewer can explore videos like never before, putting you in the scene and immersing you completely in the experience. Obviously, the videos have to be filmed with a 360-degree camera in order to utilize the VR device, but the number of videos available is already impressive and more are added daily.

Star Chart VR

Star Chart is another cross-platform VR experience that is now available for Google Daydream. The app lets you look straight up at the sky at any time of day and allows you to see every star and constellation as if it were the middle of the darkest night. By turning your head you can focus on different star clusters and the app will reveal information about the constellation and even show a nifty, little graphic depicting the inspiration for its name. This app was cool before it had VR capabilities, but it’s even cooler when you don the VR gear and move your head during this relaxing and educational experience.

Google Street View VR

Google Street View could have been passed up for VR support. It is, after all, just an extension of Google Maps, right? Whether it’s a testament to VR’s implicit fun or something about Street View I missed the first time around, Google Street View VR has taken the app to new levels. Curious about what the Trevi Fountain looks like up close in Rome? Turning your head around the space will have you digging into your pockets looking for a coin to toss in. Never seen Big Ben? With Google Daydream you can almost feel the damp chill of England’s capital as you stare up at the giant clock. It’s a ton of fun to come up with new places to visit and, with Google’s dedication to having every street in the world available to see on their app, there is certainly a lifetime of content.

The Wall Street Journal VR

I’ll be honest. I do not read The Wall Street Journal. But the new app makes me want to invest every last penny just so I can see the pretty, 3D stock charts in The Wall Street Journal VR app. It’s not all about money in this VR experience, though. The app provides subscribers with all of the same material they would get in the regular digital or hard copies of the journal. It even goes so far as to provide 360 video for many of their videos, as well. The app adds to the immersive experience by placing you in an upscale New York apartment while you read stories and follow your trades. It’s a nice touch that will truly bring out the wealthy day-trader in all of us.

The Turning Forest

The Turning Forest is an interesting, little app. While it does feature some interactivity, I hesitate to call it a game. The BBC produced title drops you into a lush and colorful outdoor space and, as you look around at the gorgeous flora and fauna, a narrator welcomes you into a world of wonder. I won’t spoil anything else as The Turning Forest is a somewhat narrative experience, but suffice it to say, you will travel to beautiful and far away places. I can totally see this app paving the way for an entirely new form of worthwhile narrative experiences that were, until now, impossible to conceive.

It is believed to be an act of terror. Zurawski’s cousin, the man who was responsible for the truck, is 37-years-old, and is believed to be a husband and a father.

Ariel Zurawski, the owner of the trucking company involved in the attack, said on TVN24 that the driver was his cousin and he had been in contact with him around noon. He said he suspected hijacking.

Week 15 of the NFL season comes to a close tonight as the Carolina Panthers visit the Washington Redskins for some Monday Night Football. The Redskins own a 4-2 record at home this season, and the Panthers are 1-5 on the road. This is the 13th all-time meeting between the Redskins and Panthers, with Carolina winning the last 5.

The Redskins (7-5-1) are out of the race to win the NFC East, but are still in the thick of the NFC wild-card race. With the Green Bay Packers winning this weekend, Washington needs a win to keep pace. Kirk Cousins, since starting off the season slowly, has thrown for 4,045 yards, 23 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions. After signing a one-year-deal in the offseason, look for Cousins to cash in on a huge contract after this season is over.

As for the Panthers, they are playing for nothing more than pride at this point. The Panthers, who went 15-1 last season before losing in the Super Bowl to the Denver Broncos are currently sitting at 5-8. The defense hasn’t been the same as last season due to the loss of Josh Norman and other various injuries, while the offense has looked like a shell off their former selves.
