There are few games that I’m playing now more than Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, which is kind of a problem because there are a ton of very excellent games for sale right now. By far the biggest problem with the game is that there are a very limited number of maps to play. It’s great because I’m pretty proficient at spawn killing during Hardcore Headquarters (the only way to play), but it’s bad because other people are just as good if not better.

Thankfully, the map limitation is going to end very soon because COD: Modern Warfare Remastered is releasing the remaining six maps: Bloc, Countdown, Pipeline, Showdown, Strike, and Wet Work.

Of those maps, I think that my favorite is probably Countdown. I remember that map being very kind to my K/D.

Additionally, there will be two new game modes added to COD: Modern Warfare Remastered: Hardpoint and Gun Game.

All those additions are coming on December 13, 2016, but a week later on December 20, the very popular “Winter Crash” map will launch and remain as a 24/7 playlist until the holidays are over.

Will this be the final meme trend of 2016? In a year of the Angry Phelps Face, Kermit Sipping Tea, Evil Kermit, Damn Daniel, Ken Bone, Mr. Krabs, Spicy Boi, and all of the other patently outrageous internet trends, will this be the one to close out the shit storm that was 2016? I hope so because, in all honesty, these may be the strongest memes of the year. I spent a good 45 minutes straight crawling through Twitter laughing my ass off looking at these.

Whether it be the exhausting Presidential election, the dozens of celebrity deaths, the ISIS attacks overseas and domestically, and Zika and Brexit and even the death of f*cking Harambe, 2016 has been brutal enough to shake even the most optimistic of folk.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Neh — there are TWO lights at the end of the tunnel. The first is 2017: has there ever been a more anticipated year? I don’t think so. I’m hereby officially dubbing 2017 as “The Year of The Light at The End of The Tunnel”. Rolls right off the tongue.

The second light at the end of the tunnel are these glorious memes. Covering wide-ranging pop culture topics like Star Wars and American Horror Story and Stranger Things, there is at least one ‘Me at the start of 2016 vs. Me at the end of 2016’ for everyone. Our favorite? Easily David Hasselhoff.

My español skills have rapidly deteriorated since my high school days, but I’m pretty sure the video below features a cheerleader for the Águilas Cibaeñas. They play in the Dominican Republic Winter League, and they sure know how to show their fans a good time.

That was spectacular. No wonder they love baseball so much over there! This is probably how Dominican Republic born superstars like David Ortiz, Vladimir Guerrero, and Manny Ramirez first got hooked on the game. The influencing power of a gyrating booty cannot be overstated.

This is a foolproof way for the MLB to boost their dipping attendance figures too. You want to put asses in the seats? Put some shaking asses in your fans’ faces. It’s such an ingenious promotion that I’m shocked the late, great Bill Veeck didn’t come up with it first.

I think the biggest loser here is homeboy in the drug-rug hoodie and distressed white jeans. You can always recover from an ass beating, but having no sense of style is a life long affliction. Short of hiring a fashion coach or whatever, this kid is gonna be dressing like a buffoon for the rest of his days. Not a good look.

Now, as for the kid who simultaneously (potentially) severed his spine and suffered a brain hemorrhage: I don’t know what you did to get yourself into this situation, but you should probably never put yourself in this spot again. You were outgunned from the jump. Stand up game? Got bodied. Grapple game? Bodied. Ground game? Yeah, he almost died. Our boy right here didn’t even take his backpack off. Word from the wise to this kid: When you’re expecting a fight, maybe ditch the bookbag. I give Sunshine credit for, well, A). not dying, and B) standing up after that. That was a vicious attack.

As for the nearly/potentially soon-to-be murderer who laid the smackdown, I have a couple more thoughts. A). Never on school property, my man. Literally probably the worst place to fight other than in front of a police station. B). You KNOW people are going to be Snapchatting and Tweeting the f*ck out of this, mayyyybeee you shouldn’t openly try and cause the kid brain damage. He was done after the suplex and you knew it. Those devastating ground-smashing punches you threw in after is the type of shit that gets you sued.

By the way, is this Texas? It’s gotta be Texas. It’s either Texas, or, you know who …………. Florida.

With all of the fa-la-las and jingle bells going on around this time of year, it is nice to break up the Christmas cheer with something a little… different. Ahead of its January 24, 2017 release, Capcom has finally dropped ten truly disturbing minutes from their latest installment in the beloved Resident Evil franchise. So far Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is shaping up to be a far departure from its predecessors in terms of both content and experience, however, the Playstation VR-ready sequel is shaping up to be a horrifying romp through a mysterious manor full of the criminally insane.

Home Sweet Home

The gameplay footage, which is spread over three short videos and totaling nearly ten minutes, teases little on the story-front. What we know so far is that you play as Ethan Winters, having traveled to the run-down Baker home in Dulvey, Louisiana in search of your missing wife. Although Capcom still appears to be playing it close-to-the-chest with narrative details at this point, the second video has a phone call in which the woman’s voice on the other end asks, “Did my daddy give you a hard time?” One can only assume the person she is referring to as her “daddy” is the axe-wielding villain that appears throughout the walkthrough. I would say it’s very safe to assume.

The first video has one member of the Baker family in hot pursuit of the protagonist. He smashes through tables and walls and gets set on fire near the end of the clip. The end even shows some gunplay, though the pistol is less than effective.

The second video seems to delve deeper into the mansion and shows off some of the other creatures (zombies?) that we saw in a previous teaser. It also ends with our bespectacled Baker friend waylaying the protagonist.

The final video shows off some puzzle-solving, but also reveals some new locales and characters. We are introduced to a wasp-wielding old woman as well as an outdoor location, somewhere in a swamp.

Resident Evil: Biohazard looks like it will be packed with a ton of creepy characters and tantalizingly derelict locations. Though the PlayStation VR experience may be the quintessential version of the newest installment, it looks like Biohazard will have plenty of disturbing content to satiate any appetite for terror.

Capcom has released a demo for Resident Evil: Biohazard available now for the PS4. The demo will be made available for Xbox One on December 9 and for PC December 19.

Here’s some great news to brighten up your day. A disabled Air Force veteran named Clay Luthy was having a hard time finding a job because he needed his service dog Charlotte to accompany him. But thankfully, a Lowe’s in Abilene, Texas hired them both for part-time positions at their store.

Via CNN:

“We were interviewing people for his position. And he was one of the applicants. And so he showed up for the interview and he had Charlotte with him,” Jay Fellers, a human resource manager at Lowes, told CNN affiliate KRBC.

Luthy and his furry friend have been together for 10 years and working at the store for two months. Charlotte alerts Luthy and helps him calm down.

“Instead of medications, I have Charlotte,” he said.

Lowe’s often schedules Luthy to work in departments like paint, where Charlotte has a place to sit.

Fellers said Charlotte — who wears her own Lowe’s vest while on duty — has been a hit with customers.

With the end of 2016 narrowly upon us and as we all say goodbye to one of the most turbulent years in recent memory, it is time to look forward to a new year. As we pop our $3.00 bottles of J. Roget from the corner store, we must also look ahead at what 2017 has on-deck for our most precious hobby. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic year for gaming in general, but for those of us who love role-playing games, we have even more to look forward to in the upcoming 365 days.

Here is a look at the most anticipated RPGs being released in 2017.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Currently in early access on Steam and receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews from users, Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the follow-up to Larian Studios’ 2014 hit.  The series returns with its rich, tactical turn-based combat complete with a beautiful new world for players to explore and shape. Original Sin 2 also boasts “pen & paper freedom,” meaning that players can overcome a situation in just about any way they can dream up. Couple that with four-player drop-in co-op and I’m sold. I can’t recommend anyone purchase the early access version of the game, but when the full retail copy drops in 2017, it will definitely be worth taking a look at.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole

The sequel to Matt Stone and Trey Parker’s 2014 South Park: The Stick of Truth, South Park: The Fractured But Whole takes us on a new journey into the world of superheroes. While South Park: The Stick of Truth was developed by Obsidian Entertainment, the development reigns have been handed over to Ubisoft San Francisco for the sequel. Fear not, however, as the original South Park creators are back at the writing desk for this adventure. Originally slated for a Q4 2016 release, the game was pushed to 2017 because Ubisoft wanted to ensure it “meets the high expectations of fans.” The original was incredibly entertaining but had an overly simplistic combat mechanic that hindered its replayability. If Ubisoft fixes that and Matt Stone and Trey Parker deliver with the jokes,  South Park: The Fractured But Whole could be an instant classic.

Horizon: Zero Dawn

As the only original IP on this list and being one of Sony’s two major show-stoppers at this year’s E3 (let’s hope this one delivers better than No Man’s Sky), Horizon: Zero Dawn is easily one of the most anticipated games being released in 2017. Horizon’s  story revolves around Aloy, a denizen of a post-apocalyptic world that has been overrun by robots after a mysterious “darkness” overcame the land. As she sets out to discover the secrets of the lush, robot-ridden world, she will have to utilize all of her abilities. Using her bow, stealth and melee weapons, Aloy is able to bring down robotic behemoths many times her size. The game looks beautiful and if it is as exciting as the E3 demo, it is sure to be a massive hit.

Mass Effect: Andromeda

Mass Effect has solidified itself as not only one of the most beloved game franchises of the last decade, but also as having one of the richest sci-fi universes ever created. While many fans were a bit disappointed with the finale of the original trilogy, BioWare is back with a new cast of characters with new missions in an entirely different galaxy set 100 years after the original series. Although players can expect many similar gameplay elements from the first three games, BioWare has restructured their class system. Players will no longer need to choose a class at the beginning of the game and the fluid skill point system will allow players to reallocate their skill points at any time to experiment with different abilities without having to start the game over from the beginning. If the most recent gameplay trailer is any indication, Mass Effect: Andromeda is shaping up to be one of the best games for this coming year.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Do I need to say anything about this game at all? Zelda. Done. Though, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will offer much more freedom than any of the childhood Zelda game you remember. This is the first title in the franchise to have a completely open-world. Nintendo has created a Hyrule that is twelve times bigger than the land mass of Twilight Princess and they have given Link the ability to climb up, glide over or cook and eat just about anything in the world. Nintendo rarely misses the mark with a Zelda title and if I were a betting man, I would put odds on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild selling a ton of Switch consoles when it releases in 2017.

Oakland Raiders fans are known for being goddamn maniacs, and according to Bay Area News Group’s Raiders beat writer Jimmy Durkin, they definitely lived up to their reputation on Wednesday.

A nonstop flight from Oakland to Kansas City is only three hours and 20 minutes, so they were throwing ’em back at a rapid pace. I’m guessing somebody snuck one of these bad boys in their carry-on luggage.

I already can’t wait to get on my computer tomorrow morning and check out all of the fights that I’m sure will take place tonight. The Raiders are 10-2 and the Chiefs are 9-3, so first place in the AFC West is on the line. Combine a bitter rivalry, a night game with major playoff implications, frigid temperatures in Kansas City, and copious amounts of alcohol, and there will be some vicious brawls at Arrowhead Stadium tonight. You can take that to the bank.

Game of Thrones is coming to a close in the eighth season, which leaves us all wondering one thing: how will they end the series? Will it be an epic showdown like in Breaking Bad or a disappointing fade-to-black like in The Sopranos? Finn Jones, known on the show as Loras Tyrell, thinks he knows how the show should end. He met his demise in the series during the Great Sept of Baelor as just another victim lost in the fire and rubble. The show is preparing for their penultimate season, but let’s see how Finn thinks Game of Thrones will end.

First, where is Finn Jones going after he was killed off of this hit HBO show? Now, he’s set to star in both Marvel’s Iron Fist and Marvel’s The Defenders on Netflix in 2017. This might explain why he had to die in Game of Thrones. But that’s not the only reason, as according to Jones, “Daenerys is coming to town, and HBO needed to wipe out a bunch of characters so that they could get on with the story and finish it.”

Jones spoke with Vulture to give his predictions on how Thrones show should end. “I’ve had this theory for a while, but I think there needs to be a message with the end of Game of Thrones,” he said. “I think what needs to happen is ice and fire are going to go to war, a huge war between those two factions, and I think in that war, they will destroy themselves. There will be complete chaos, complete destruction. It’ll just be a war-torn map. And I think out of that winter carnage, spring will follow, and what we’ll see is power being given back to the individual realms.”

Finn also explained how he thinks the world of Game of Thrones will change after the chaos, annihilation, and war. The quote is very long, so I’ll paraphrase it before you read it. He thinks peace will rise out of the destruction like a flower in Fallujah. Democracies will then rise from the ashes of the fallen kingdoms, and they will set a good example for our f*cked up world. And of course, it has something to do with current politics.

Alright, I’ll get to that long quote from Finn Jones. It’s a pretty interesting read, but it can get a bit preachy at times. Brace yourself:

“I think the Iron Throne will be dissolved, both physically and ideologically. A Small Council will be set up — not to take power, but to give power back. Hopefully, a more democratic and more progressive era will arise on Westeros. I think that’s a really nice, positive way to end the story, and I think we need that right now. The world is a really f*cking weird place right now, and we need someone telling a hopeful, positive, progressive story about politics and power. Why not let it be Game of Thrones, one of the most watched shows, if not the most watched show, in the world? Have a real powerful statement that the power should not be in a throne, or in one centralized pinnacle of power. The power should be in individual democracies, in individual communities. It shouldn’t be an oligarchy, or some small group of elite. Power should be with the people and not with some politician or some heir to the throne or some madman. F*ck that. The world’s dying. We really need to take a look at ourselves and decide what’s next. Thrones would be the perfect platform to send a progressive message because right now, our politicians aren’t telling us any truths. It’s hard to find a good, meaningful message, so I think it’s up to storytellers, television shows, and films to have an impact on the world conversation. Is that not what film and television is for? And if not, what is it for?”

Honestly, I would have preferred something with Khaleesi and her dragons. Come on. Where are the dragons?

Winter in many parts of the Northeast and other parts of the United States may have seemed mild so far, but it seems as though a mid-December 2016 polar vortex is coming sometime soon. Although it’s not yet known if this year’s polar vortex will bring the same freezing temperatures as the winter we experienced in 2013-2014, North America can expect some very cold temperatures sometime soon if not already. We also know that more than likely we will experience two waves of the cold air.

Parts of North America are experiencing the first wave right now, but the second wave is coming sometime next week–that’s the one some experts are nervous about. Already there’s been a massive Michigan vehicle pileup of 30-40 cars/trucks caused by the icy conditions from lake effects and the abnormally cold conditions.

Polar Vortex 2016 Forecast

As stated before, experts and meteorologists are expecting the polar vortex to hit in two waves. The Upper Midwest, the Rocky Mountains, and parts of the middle of the country are already experiencing wave one of this cold air. These areas are seeing some temperatures 20 or 30 degrees Farenheit below normal.

But what about the second wave, predicted to hit possibly by/on December 16th? That’s the one believed to be the doozy. Computer models, which The Washington Post calls “unanimous,” suggest the northern Rockies and the northern plains experiencing cold weather as soon as Sunday, December 11, 2016. From there, it will reach Chicago by Tuesday (12/13) and the northeast by Wednesday (12/14) or Thursday (12/15).

The good news about this polar vortex is that unlike the one in 2014, we’re experiencing this one in mid-December, not mid-January when temperatures are much colder. By the time that the second polar vortex waves hit the northeast on Wednesday, it won’t be as cold as it was on Sunday.

What Is A Polar Vortex?

Simply put, a polar vortex is the extremely cold, dense air that hangs just below the stratospheres above the North Pole and the South Pole. As you can imagine, this air is freezing cold.

It’s perfectly normal for the two vertices to strengthen and weaken as the seasons change, but more often than not the North Pole vortex is weak. When the vortex is weaker, it sometimes becomes two vertices–meaning that instead of cycling the cold air around the arctic, the arctic begins taking a trip towards the equator.

In the photo below (which looks down on the North Pole, not North America), a strong polar vortex can be seen on the left. Note how the cold air remains in one place. On the right, you see what happens when the vortex weakens and splits into two (or more) vertices: there’s a lot more cold air. This phenomena has been going on for millenia, although only recently after the harsh 2013-2014 winter did the word become so popular.

So it happened… The video that former Sigma Pi fraternity pledge Syed Ali John Mehdi sent to The Hofstra Chronicle, depicting pledges drinking milk and puking on each other, has leaked.

Honestly I never thought that this video was ever going to leak, but I couldn’t have been more wrong because holy crap. This video is exactly what you would think it is: a bunch of shirtless pledges drinking milk, projectile vomiting on each other, and celebrating when they’re successful.

There is no part of me that doesn’t think this is hilarious and awesome, but unfortunately I don’t feel the same for the people who recorded this. WHO THE F*CK WOULD FILM THIS?

The AFC-leading Oakland Raiders (10-2) visit Arrowhead as they take on the Wild Card bound Kansas City Chiefs “Thursday Night Football.” It’s the final matchup of the regular season for these two teams, and it comes with the added pressure of being possibly the biggest game of the season.

In their first meeting in Oakland back during Week 6, KC cruised to a 26-10 victory, behind Spencer Ware’s rushing for a career-high 131 yards. What may be most surprising is that Kansas City held Oakland, the highest scoring team in the NFL, scoreless in the second half. The Raiders are a different team since that day, having not lost a game since, ripping off 6-straight wins. However, with a win tonight, the Chiefs would be 2-0 against Oakland, and therefore take first place in the division.

The AFC West is the best division in the NFL. The Raiders enter Thursday’s game as the  #1 overall seed in the AFC, while the Chiefs currently hold the #5 seed. According to Football Outsiders’ metrics, Oakland is the No. 6 team in the league, and the Chiefs are 8th. We haven’t even mentioned the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos, who are lurking at 8-4. Needless to say, tonight’s Oakland vs. Chiefs game is the biggest game of the 2016 NFL season so far, and will go a long way in determining the shape of the AFC playoffs.

Waffle House is pretty much known for two things: serving breakfast and being home to some of the greatest fights the world has ever seen. When it comes to legendary fight venues, it’s a four-way tie for first place between the Colosseum, Madison Square Garden, MGM Grand Garden Arena, and Waffle Houses. This particular Waffle House brawl took place in Tampa Bay, Florida, which is not exactly a shocker.

Talk about all hell breaking loose! I couldn’t make heads or tails of what was going on in that video, but I loved every second of it. Homeboy wasn’t letting anything get in the way of him enjoying his feast.

NYPD have released new footage showing the harrowing moment, Alastasia Bryan, an off-duty correction officer, was gunned down while sitting in a vehicle in Brooklyn on Sunday night.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m., near Avenue L and E. 73rd Street in the Flatlands section of the borough.

Bryan, 25, was sitting in her car when an individual walked up to the driver’s side window and fired at her several times, police said. Bryan was struck in the head and torso. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The individual fled westbound on Avenue L inside of gold or tan colored 4 door Hyundai Elantra.

At the time of this writing, no arrests have been made so far.

Up until last week we hadn’t heard much (especially any new music) from J. Cole, since 2014 Hills Forrest Drive two years ago. Thankfully for us, that all changed.

On December 1, 2016, the artwork and a tracklist for Cole’s new album, titled 4 Your Eyez Only were shown on iTunes available for pre-order. That next day, Cole dropped two new songs (albeit songs that will not be appearing on his latest release): Everybody Dies & False Prophets. Both came with videos however it was the latter of the two that caused a stir, as it appears Cole was taking shots at Kanye West. Similarly, Cole also dopped a 40-minute documentary last night called Eyez, which chronicled his making of 4 Your Eyez Only. Cole’s releases achieved exactly what he hoped: drum up anticipation for an album we had previously heard nothing about.

Now, one week later, we finally have a brand new J. Cole album, and it is absolutely glorious. Maybe even J. Cole at his best. And yes, even better then when he went platinum with no features. Give 4 Your Eyez Only a listen below!

UFC Fight Night Albany: Derrick Lewis vs. Shami Abdurakhimov will premiere Friday, December 1 in Albany, New York. The night’s main event, the two will face-off at 9:00 P.M. EST/6:00 P.M. PST in the Times Union Center.

Both of the fighters that will enter the ring tomorrow have been proven to be beatable, as Lewis boasts a 16-4-0 overall record while Abdurakhimov sports a 17-3-0 mark. Lewis (#10 heavyweight in the world) weighs in at 260 pounds while Abdurakhimov (#15 heavyweight in the world) packs a mere 235 pounds. However, both have similar arm and leg reach, with Lewis holding the advantage at two and three inches, respectively.

UFC Fight Night Albany Preview

Two Ohio University players, Desmond Noel, 18, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Jacob Ready, 19, of Lakewood, Ohio, were arrested at midnight on Wednesday for aggravated robbery. Noel and Ready were arrested with another Ohio University student, Austin Allaby, 20, of Bethel, Connecticut, who is not a member of the football team. All three students have been charged with first-degree felonies for aggravated robbery.

Both Noel and Ready have been suspended indefinitely from the Ohio University Bobcats and won’t be allowed to travel to the Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, Alabama on December 23.

What Happened?

Around midnight, Athens Police Department officers were called to South Shafer Street to respond to a “group of suspicious males.” To be more specific, this group of suspicious males were four individuals who pulled up to an apartment complex wearing dark clothes and may or may not have been wearing bandanas over their faces. Three of these men walked into the apartment complex.

The three individuals came back out of the apartment complex while Athens PD was talking to the driver. According to Police Chief Tom Pyle, once the robbers saw the police they bolted immediately. The police knew that a crime had been committed and were able to catch Noel and Ready, both of whom were offensive linemen and probably pretty slow. A third suspect, known to police, hasn’t been apprehended yet. Maybe he played tight end or something.

Noel, Ready, and Allaby are being charged with aggravated robbery because one of them must have brandished a weapon at some time during the robbery. The three were arrested without incident.
