The Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers will face off on Thursday night to kick off Week 7 of the 2016 NFL Season. Chicago is one of the worst teams in the league, and the Packers have been a dysfunctional offensive mess so far this season. Thursday Night Football games are usually pretty crap, but tonight’s has a chance to be a megadeath of shit. Let’s hope that the fact that Bears-Packers is the oldest rivalry in the NFL brings some much-needed intensity and intrigue to an otherwise brutal game.

Chicago’s matchup with Green Bay in Week 7 will be streamed on Twitter. A partnership between Twitter and the NFL was announced earlier this year and Roger Goodell said the following on the partnership:

“Twitter is where live events unfold and is the right partner for the NFL as we take the latest step in serving fans around the world live NFL football. There is a massive amount of NFL-related conversation happening on Twitter during our games and tapping into that audience, in addition to our viewers on broadcast and cable, will ensure Thursday Night Football is seen on an unprecedented number of platforms this season. This agreement also provides additional reach for those brands advertising with our broadcast partners.”

The partnership between the NFL and Twitter, which was announced in early April, will see the social media platform enter the live sports streaming arena for the first time. Twitter will stream 10 football games on Thursday night.

With Brian Hoey as their starter and a 1-5, the Bears’ season is essentially cooked, although beating Green Bay will serve as enough motivation. As for the Packers, Aaron Rodgers and their offense have looked uncharacteristically out of sync this year. While the division title may be out of reach due to the 5-0 Minnesota Vikings, a win tonight would put them at 4-2 and right in the thick of the NFC Wild Card race. COED likes the Packers at home tonight, 20-13.

Scherri-Lee Biggs’s Instagram

I was scrolling through LiveLeak the other day, mainly looking for street fight videos, as nothing warms my heart like watching strangers beat each other into a bloody pulp. While I came up short in my quest for captivating fisticuffs, I did find a video of some moron yelling FHRITP during a news broadcast.

I didn’t post the clip because the FHRITP fad is as dead as disco, but I did notice that the poor lady who had to deal with this schmuck was a stone cold fox. So without further ado, let’s get acquainted with Scherri-Lee Biggs.

The 26-year-old was born in South Africa, but she moved to Australia when she was 12. She would later get into modeling, and unsurprisingly, she experienced a ton of success in this field. Biggs was crowned Miss Universe Australia in 2011, and she finished in the Top 10 at the Miss Universe pageant.

As far as I’m concerned, she got royally screwed by those judges. Just look at her absolutely dominating the bikini portion of the contest.

That’s a first place performance if I’ve ever seen one. Biggs kept with modeling for a while after the Miss Universe competition, and she was still at the top of her game at the 2013 Perth Fashion Festival.

Biggs would then trade in her bathing suit for a microphone, becoming the weather presenter on Nine News Perth in August of 2014. It seems like a great career change to me, as Biggs could tell me that we were getting a storm of biblical proportions and I’d just sit there with a big, dumb grin on my face.

We’ve all been there. You’re trying to pass the time while making a long trip, so you crank up the radio and belt out some tunes. You’ve just gotta make sure you’re paying attention to the road while putting on the one-man show of the century. That’s where our good friend Travis Carpenter slipped up.

I know I have an express ticket to hell because I laughed my ass off when he let out that scream. He went from doing some soulful singing to screaming for his life in an instant. This is the face of pure terror.

Life comes at you fast. But thankfully, Carpenter miraculously made it out of the accident with no injuries. In the video’s YouTube description, he explained the crash and its aftermath.

I was traveling from Indianapolis to Whitewater, WI for a practice weekend with Machine Ultimate. I was going 70mph (speed limit) on I65 north. I travel the 3-4 hours by myself every time and use singing as a way to pass time, and critique it later. At this point I was practicing a nasal type voice on a Casting Crowns song when the crash happened. I was watching the road and saw nothing that caused me to worry. Simply hydroplaned in a heavy rain. My car slid sideways, and then was completely backwards by the time I slid off the road and went down a small hill. I hit a mile marker sign (230) on my way off the road. Here are two of the most amazing parts: I sustained NO injuries. Not even a scratch. And my car took NO mechanical damage and is completely driveable. Only body damage.

The car having no mechanical damage is amazing. He probably can just scoop up the loose change that was flying around to cover those body expenses.

I’m not mad at Travis for getting a little careless behind the wheel, as that type of accident could happen to anyone. Shit happens. But I am upset that he didn’t finish the song. True performers know that no matter what, the show must go on.

The Chive is known for many things, one of which is their relationship with Bill F*cking Murray. Since Bill’s kinda sorta obsessed with the game of golf, and The Chive loves making clothes, the two figured that maybe they should launch their own golf line called the William Murray Golf Collection. And that’s exactly what they did.

The NFL is in trouble. Not real, threatening-the-future-of-the-league-trouble, but by NFL standards — they’re in trouble. Viewership is down 10% from last year. You’ve got on-the-field issues, such as concussions and over-refereeing, and off-the-field issues, such as domestic violence and marijuana use. But maybe the NFL’s biggest problem right now is the quality of product they are putting on.

The NFL sucks right now. Realistically, does anyone think anyone other than the Vikings, Patriots, Seahawks, or Steelers are going to win it all this year? I don’t, because the rest of the league is crap. Maybe it’s the reduced practice time, maybe it’s the style of play, but something with the NFL is just not clicking this season.

The biggest examples of this are the pitiful excuses for football games that are Thursday Night Football. I don’t know if you watched last night’s game, or any of the games this season, but they’ve all been shit shows. Not counting the Week 1 matchup between the Broncos and Panthers (because they had the entire offseason to prepare) and the Week 2 matchup between the Jets and Bills (because that one was somehow, somewhat decent), every Thursday Night Football game has been a display of the worst the league has to offer. And this isn’t a new thing… Thursday Night Football has always sucked.

Now, with that said, I still enjoy it. I mean, f*ck, it’s still football. You tell me I have the choice of a good basketball game (ya know, down to the wire, maybe a buzzer beater, all that), or a crappy football game, I’m taking football. American loves football, it’s what we do. But that doesn’t mean keeping Thursday Night Football is a good idea.

Week after week, every Thursday, the NFL puts on a frankly poor product. Now, while a shit Thursday Night Game might be bearable for a mega-fan like you or I, I can almost guarantee it’s turning off the casual fan. And that’s not good for business. The way to grow a business is to bring in new business, not sustain the old. And through that logic, the NFL should get rid of Thursday Night Football.

The idea of taking magic mushrooms is one that doesn’t interest me too much, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not naturally curious about them. Update–12:28 PM EST: The DDos attack has resumed and sites like Spotify, Amazon, Twitter, and GrubHub are back down. Ironically, no one can brag and take responsibility for the attack since all social media channels are down.

I was tight. Seriously, I was pissed. I didn’t eat breakfast, had $1 pizza for lunch, so I was looking forward to a fat dinner. I’ve got these $10 off Seamless coupons on deck at my apartment, so not only was I ready to munch, I was ready to save some money. Frugality and shit you know.

Anyway, so I get home from the gym, shower up, and plop myself on my bed, opening my laptop. I go right to Seamless to decide what’s in my hunger cloud for the night. Italian? Nah, had pizza for lunch. Asian? Also nah, I still haven’t found a reliable Chinese or Japanese spot in Hoboken and I’m starting to worry I never will. And then I had it… Mexican. F*ck Trump and his wall, I was gonna order some stomach-ethering yet endlessly enjoyable Mexican. I type my address into Seamless.

Error.

Try again. Error again.

Try a third time. Third Error.

I head over to their partner site Grubhub. Nope. Same error. Something is wrong, so I went right to Twitter to find out what was good. Everyone else was having a problem too. Shit was real. I even Tweeted about it:

Anyway, I had completely forgotten about the issue when I woke up this morning. Sure, it’s rainy AF today, but it’s a new day, with new meals, and I was ready to move on. But then I saw this article from Gizmodo: “This Is Probably Why Half the Internet Shut Down Today“. Needless to say, I quickly realized something very woke was going on.

“Twitter, Spotify and Reddit, and a huge swath of other websites were down or screwed up this morning. This was happening as hackers unleashed a large distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on the servers of Dyn, a major DNS host. It’s probably safe to assume that the two situations are related.

Domain Name Servers (DNS) act as the Internet’s phone book. Basically, they facilitate your request to go to a certain webpage and make sure you are taken to the right place. If the DNS provider that handles requests for Twitter is down, well, good luck getting to Twitter. Some websites are coming back for some users, but it doesn’t look like the problem is fully resolved.

Dyn posted this update on its website: “Starting at 11:10 UTC on October 21th-Friday 2016 we began monitoring and mitigating a DDoS attack against our Dyn Managed DNS infrastructure. Some customers may experience increased DNS query latency and delayed zone propagation during this time. Updates will be posted as information becomes available.”

They threw up a list of about 40 or so websites that were affected by the hack, and lo and behold, there they were: Seamless and Grubhub.

Crazy shit, right? Here I am thinking that Seamless just sucks a fat one and didn’t pay the rent on their domain name when it turns out there was some serious cyberterrorism going on. Who knew? 2016, man.

I’m not a snob when it comes to fantasy football. I think people should play with whatever settings, rules, and formats that make them happiest. You want to play in a 8-team league? Suit yourself. PPR? Go crazy. Start two quarterbacks? Do you, brother. Part of what makes fantasy football so much fun is how customizable it is. So while I’d definitely consider myself a whatever floats your boat kind of guy when it comes to fantasy football, I came across something today at Deadspin that has my blood boiling.

NFL.com offers a league setting called Roster Options, and it’s the worst goddamn thing I’ve ever heard of.

If you decide to play in an idiotic league that enables the Roster Options setting, here’s how it works. Before the games get underway, you can select a player on your bench that you’d like to sub in if he outperforms one of your starters at an eligible position. This option costs $0.99 per player. Or, if you’re a gigantic yellow-bellied coward, you can shell out $3.99 to be able to sub in every player on your bench.

A huge part of being a good fantasy football player is having the ability to make those tough sit/start decisions, and this ridiculous setting completely eliminates that. There’s nothing better than starting some unheralded player in a prime matchup and watching him go the f*ck off. It’s borderline orgasmic.

On the other hand, there’s nothing worse than trying to get cute and costing yourself a win by making a boneheaded move. I still wake up in a cold sweat some nights because I lost a playoff game two years ago by rolling with Jordan Matthews and having that dickbag score exactly zero points.

But that’s fantasy football. The highs are high and the lows are low. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen and take this weak ass Roster Options setting with you.

The Orionid meteor shower is one of the biggest events of the year for people who like to watch exciting things happen in the night sky. The Orionid meteor shower–named because the meteors seem to originate from near the Orion constellation–is set to occur from October 4 to November 14. The best time to watch the meteor shower, though, is tonight: October 21.

The meteor shower is actually caused by debris from Hailey’s Comet, a major object that passes by Earth every 76 years. So how is it that we can see the Orionid meteor shower every year? Because the earth passes through the orbit of Hailey’s comet twice a year, allowing pieces of the rock to actually enter into our atmosphere and then heat up and disintegrate. These particles enter our atmosphere at a speed 80 times faster than high-powered rifle.

Sadly, this year the moon will ruin a lot of the good views you’d normally get. That’s why if you’re really keen on getting the most out of your Orionid meteor shower, you might consider live streaming the event instead.

All lanes of U.S. Highway 101 between Redwood City and San Carlos shut down for more than an hour Thursday after an RV caught on fire, causing a major traffic snarl on one of the busiest freeways in the Bay Area.

CHP officials said the occupants of the RV were carrying rockets back from a rocket hobby show when one apparently exploded, sparking the fire.

The Cleveland Indians punched their ticket to the World Series by beating the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1 in the American League Championship Series. Cleveland hasn’t won a World Series since 1948, and this will be their first appearance in the Fall Classic since 1997. This is obviously a huge deal for Cleveland, so Charlie Sheen wants to bring back his legendary Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn character from Major League to throw out the first pitch at Game 1 of the World Series.

This NEEDS to happen. Not only will the Cleveland fans go absolutely bonkers seeing Ricky Vaughn on the hill, the Indian players are huge fans of Major League.

Game 1 of the World Series will take place in Cleveland at Progressive Field on Tuesday, October 25, and if the Indians reenact this classic scene for Vaughn’s first pitch, I guarantee they win by 100 runs.

I have been a huge fan of the Steph Curry line of Under Armour basketball shoes since their inception. I’m currently on my third pair (the Steph Curry 2.5s) and love to play in them. So naturally when I saw that Under Armour had unveiled the new Curry 3 shoes today, I got really excited. After all, Steph Curry the player loves 3s, so you’d think that Under Armour would have made these especially awesome for him.

But then I saw them. And honestly I’m more than a little bummed out.

To me, the Curry 3s look boxy as hell. They’re flat at the top. They look big around the heel. The inside of the foot (not inside the shoe) looks weird AF. Obviously I need to try them out to properly give them a review, but just judging from the cover these are not nice at all. I get that the shoes need to be different than your previous shoes, but still. C’mon people. Apparently, I’m not the only one either who dislike these either.

There are few things more annoying than hearing someone in college say “Do you know who my parents are?” No, I really don’t and I also really don’t care. This is college. We’re all actually trying to escape our parents. So with that in mind, I present to you what should probably be one of the more satisfying punches you’ll see in a long time.

Honestly I have absolutely zero context about this video, other than that BarstoolSports claims that it was filmed at PSU-Altoona. Enjoy.
