NBA Start Date 2016-2017

The start of the 2016-17 NBA season is less than a month away! The first game of the season is between the 2016 NBA champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the New York Knicks is on October 25, 2016.

Fresh off a title, NBA fans are wondering if Lebron James can win another title in Cleveland. Last season, Cleveland won its first NBA championship by beating the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. The Cavaliers trailed 3-1 in the series before they stormed back to upset the Warriors and became the first team in the history of the NBA to come back from a 3-1 series deficit.

When Does NBA Season Start?

The 2016-2017 NBA season starts on Tuesday, October 25, 2016.

2016-17 NBA Season Opener Viewing Details

Date: October 25, 2016
Time: 8:00 P.M. EST
Location: Quickens Loan Arena, Cleveland, Ohio
Broadcast: TNT and NBA League Pass

NBA Finals 2016 Recap

Lebron James and the Cavs may have won the championship last year but NBA fans are waiting to see how the Golden State Warriors will play with the addition of superstar Kevin Durant over the summer. The former Oklahoma Thunder made waves over the summer when he opted to join arguably the best team in the NBA. He received harsh criticism for taking the easy way towards a championship and has been booed every place besides in Golden State.

New York Knicks Predictions

The Warriors haven’t been the only team making noise during the summer. The New York Knicks caught everyone by surprise when they traded for Derrick Rose. They continued to build their roster by acquiring former Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah, and guards Courtney Lee and Brandon Jennings. Knicks fans are excited to see a new and improved product take the court.

New York may have added new players to their roster but the ones drawing the limelight are returning players Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis. Anthony is fresh off of winning his third gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics and looks to carry over his successful summer to the fall. Porzingis, on the other hand, is the one everyone is waiting to see. He came in second last year in rookie voting and won everyone over with his hustle and put-back dunks. The question everyone is asking is how much better is Porzingis going to be in his second year in the NBA?

The match-up on October 25 is between the reigning champions and the up-and-coming Knicks team. The tip-off to this game will officially declare the return of the NBA season!

WATCH: SMU Sigma Chi Throws One Helluva Pool Party

Sigma Chi was founded in 1855 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. With 244 active chapters, the fraternity has over 300,000 members. Out of all of these schools, Southern Methodist University might be the cream of the crop when it comes to throwing pool parties. They recently threw a bash headlined by Migos, who proceeded to whip the crowd into an absolute frenzy. You can check out all the mayhem in the video below.

Goddamn, that looked like a blast. Babes, booze, and rap bangers are a tried-and-true recipe for an awesome party. You add a pool and a cornucopia of elite butt cheeks to the mix and that’s how you end up with a legendary fiesta. Congrats to SMU’s Sigma Chi chapter for having more fun in one afternoon than I had in my entire college career. Lucky sons of bitches.

A very special shoutout to the boys at SMU’s Sigma Chi who threw one hell of a party this year with MIGOS. Not only did they fill Bungalow Dallas with all the baddest biddies at SMU, they invited MIGOS to perform at the party. I know that we use a ton of hyperbole on the site to discuss various party recap videos, but I’ve been doing this job for longer than I’d care to admit and this looks like a Top 5 party for sure.

To me, this shot of the pool looks about as turnt as something you’d see at the PCB Holiday Inn. Tell me that I’m wrong. You can’t.

SMU Dallas Bungalow Party

Anyways, we digress. If you’re thinking about joining a fraternity, you might want to think about going Sigma Chi because it’s pretty f*cking apparent that these brothers go HAM when they want to. Check out the video below.

NFL Ref Wanted Steve Young To Date His Daughter, So He Gave Him A Break On The Field

NFL Hall of Famer Steve Young has a book coming out on October 11 called “QB: My Life Behind the Spiral.” It was written by Young with Jeff Benedict, and it’s the life story of the two-time MVP. Peter King included a few excerpts from the book in his Monday Morning Quarterback column. The most interesting portion by far was Young describing how badly one referee wanted him to date his daughter. The following took place after the USFL folded and Young was playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Even on the field, I can’t escape the craziness. We play the Colts at home. Partway through the second quarter I’m in the huddle when the head referee taps me on the shoulder. “Can I talk to you for a second?” he says. I step away from the huddle. “Hey, listen, my daughter’s going to BYU,” he whispers. Next thing I know he starts trying to convince me that I should meet his daughter. “I’d like you to take her out,” he says.

I cannot believe this. We’re in the middle of a game! “Oh, okay,” I said. “What’s her name?’’ He tells me and I return to the huddle … Late in the game we’re down 31-23 and I’m trying to mount a comeback. I scramble out of the pocket and take a brutal hit. It causes me to fumble just before the whistle blows to stop the play. I am lying on the ground when the defense recovers the loose ball, all but sealing our defeat. Suddenly out of nowhere a yellow flag lands next to me. The referee whose daughter is headed to BYU calls a personal foul on the defense. First down, Tampa Bay. I get up and brush myself off. Then the ref walks past me and whispers she likes Italian food.

The thirst is real. Finally, all of the shitty officiating that we have to put up with every week has been explained. The refs aren’t incompetent; they are just trying to get star players to bang their daughters. Makes perfect sense.

I can’t blame this ref for wanting Young to date his daughter, though. Great player, handsome fella, friendly disposition, and first-rate dancing skills. Talk about the total package.

New York Giants vs. Minnesota Vikings: MNF Live Blog, Updates, Tweets & Commentary

Monday Night Football actually has a good game for once, so I decided to live blog it. The 2-1 Giants blew a winnable game against the Redskins last Sunday and tonight face a stiff test against the undefeated Vikings in Minnesota.

The Vikings defense has been dominant in the early weeks, shutting down Aaron Rodgers and Cam Newton in the last two weeks. But with Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson out for the season, it remains to be seen just how capably Sam Bradford and Jerrick McKinnon can replace them, respectively.

Follow along for frequent updates on running commentary.

First Quarter

14:54: A good kick return by Dwayne Harris gives Eli Manning and the Giants good starting field position at their own 40.

Giants offense begins drive on own 40

14:30: On second down Eli Manning hits Sterling Shepard for 12 yards to move the chains for the first time.

11:50: The Giants are without running backs Rashad Jennings and Shane Vereen tonight so will have to rely on the relatively unproven Orleans Darkwa and Bobby Rainey. Giants face 3rd and 10 at the Vikings 40.

10:52: Giants drive stalls and instead of kicking a long punt, Big Blue punts. Brad Wing gets off a perfect punt and the Giants are able to down it at the 1.

Vikings offense begins drive on own 1

Randy Moss, apparently blowing the shofar for Rosh Hashana. L’shana tova!

9:30: Vikings not able to get anything going on offense and will have to punt from their own endzone.

9:10: Dwayne Harris muffs punt and the Vikings offense will begin drive at Giants 41

8:45: Cordarelle Patterson gains 20 yards on a catch-and-run on the first play of the new drive.

8:10: Viking offensive lineman Andre Smith hurt.

7:00: Vikings have 1st and goal from the 9 before a false start takes them back to the 14.

6:45: Vikings get 1st and goal from the one after Giants get a pass interference in the endzone called against them.

6:28: TOUCHDOWN Vikings- Matt Asiata runs it in from the 1-yard-line. Vikings lead 7-0 after extra point is good.

5:38: A big run by Orleans Darkwa on second down plus a defensive penalty move the ball to near midfield.

4:44: Manning dumps it off to Will Tye on 3rd down who can’t get passed the marker. Brad Wing will have to punt away again.

4:12: Still bugging me out that Sean McDonough now calls Monday Night Football. Or as he’s more commonly known as: that guy who’s not Mike Tirico.

Vikings begin drive at own 20 after touchback on punt

3:30: Jerrick McKinnon sprints ahead to the Vikings 46 on Minnesota’s first play of the drive.

3:00: On 3rd down Bradford takes a deep shot for Adam Thielen who drops it. Minnesota fans furious that no pass interference was called.

2:47: Giants offense begins drive on own 20 after touchback on punt

Jon Gruden in peak Jon Gruden form tonight. Going nuts talking about the Vikings various blitzes.

1:00: Giants offense can’t do anything with the ball and are forced to punt again after a 3-and-out.

Vikings offense begins drive at own 33 after Giants punt

2nd Quarter:

14:54: Bradford can’t connect with Stefon Diggs and the Vikings return the favor by going 3-and-out.

14:45: Giants offense begins drive on own 12

Giants tight end Larry Donnell looks like he might have suffered a cuncussion. Jason Pierre-Paul also being tended to on the sidelines for a possible injury.

14:00: Victor Cruz makes his first grab of the game for a medium gain to move the chains.

13:10: Vikings offense begins drive on own 35 after Giants punt

10:30:  Vikings moving the ball on the ground with Jerrick McKinnon, Matt Asiata and others. Have the ball on the Giants 34.

9:30: Bradford connects with Stefon Diggs for 21 yards down the middle. Vikings are down to the Giants 13.

Giants cornerback Leon Hall is shaken up. They really can’t afford any more injuries in the secondary, but it seems to just be a contact lens issue.

7:59: TOUCHDOWN Vikings: Sam Bradford hits Kyle Rudolph in the back of the endzone for a 7 yard TD. Extra point is good and Vikings lead 14-0.

Giants offense begins drive at own 17

7:00: After a Odell Beckham slant then a Paul Perkins run, the Giants move the chains. 1st and 10 at their own 31

6:45: After a 4-yard throw and catch to the sideline, Beckham pick up a 15-yard taunting penalty. One more of those and he’s ejected.

5:30: Sterling Shepard short of the first down at own 40. Giants bring out offense on 4th and 1 but end up calling timeout after trying to get Minnesota’s defense to jump.

Vikings offense begins drive at own 12 after Giants punt

3:30: Giants defense stops Matt Asiata for a loss on 3rd and 1. Vikings go 3 and out and are forced to punt. A critical drive for New York coming up.

Giants offense begins drive on own 34 after Vikings punt

2:00: After consecutive 9-yard gains on a throw to Cruz and a run by Bobby Rainey the Giants are in Minnesota territory for the first time all night.

1:20: On 3rd and 1 Bobby Rainey is tackled behind the line of scrimmage. Giants to go for it on 4th and 4.

0:52: A Vikings offsides gives the Giants an automatic first down at the 37. Mike Zimmer is fuming at the culprit.

0:25: Giants have to take a timeout on 3rd and 10 on the Minnesota 27

0:06: Giants complete a pass to Cruz for a first down to the 17. After an incompletion and then a delay of game, Josh Brown will try a 40-yard field goal.

0:02: FIELD GOAL Giants: Josh Brown’s 40-yard field goal attempt is good. Vikings lead 14-3.

Vikings begin drive on own 19

5:25: On 3rd and 6 Kyle Rudolph draws a pass interference to move the chains.

5:00: Giants defense has been a solid bunch but they’ve been totally unable to cause turnovers. New York could really use one of those if they’re going to get back into this one.

3:30: On 3rd and 3, Bradford finds Cordarelle Patterson for 4 yards to Minnesota’s own 40.

1:40: Kyle Rudolph helps Minnesota convert their third straight third down. Vikings are driving, down to the Giants 38.

0:32: On 3rd and 9, Bradford has Diggs open but throws it just a tad too high. Vikings elect to punt instead of try a 55-yard field goal.

Giants offense begin drive at own 9 after Vikings punt

0:20 Manning completes pass to Will Tye for 18-yard gain on first down. That is the longest offensive play of the day so far for the Giants against this stifling Minnesota defense.

13:42: Trae Waynes gets a pass interference in the endzone. First and goal from the 1 for the Giants.

1:51: Giants turn ball over on downs after Eli Manning’s pass intended to Paul Perkins falls incomplete

1:46: This one is all but over. Looks like the Vikings are going to win by a score of 24-10, covering the 4 point spread. They looked great tonight, especially on defense, and move to 4-0.

1:00: Giants fall to 2-2 and face a tough game against the Packers next Sunday night.

End of 4th quarter

Minnesota Vikings defeat New York Giants 24-10

Unsurprisingly, Professional Idiot Piers Morgan Had An Idiotic Reaction To The Kardashian Robbery

Doesn’t Piers Morgan look like a d*ck? Not in the tradition sense – “Oh that guy looks like a dick” – but more literally. Piers Morgan actually kind of looks like a d*ck. Just something about his stupid fat face, I don’t know.

Anyway, aside from having penis-like features, Piers Morgan is also a raving idiot. He creates shock-value headlines and backs up his opinions with little or no substance. Like that time he called out Jennifer Aniston. Or that time he made fun of the nation of India during the Olympics.

So it comes without any surprise that Morgan’s take on the whole Kardashian robbery incident is absolutely asinine. First of all, his writing style is shit, let’s just get that out there. And he employed this crap writing style to pen an incoherent rant for The Daily Mail, calling for the firing of Kardashian’s Head of Security, Pascal Duvier. You’ve got Piers Morgan saying Duvier went AWOL, while Duvier’s employer says he is not to blame. In typical Morgan fashion, he creates an unintelligible parallel between Duvier’s social media usage and Sunday night’s robbery. Uh, what dude?

via The Daily Mail:

A glance through Duvier’s own Instagram account reveals endless self-glorifying images of him with his famous clients, and pompous self-inflating homilies about the art of being a bodyguard.

This is a man who clearly believes he is almost as big a star as the people he is paid to protect and likes nothing more than bragging about it. Yet when it comes to actually doing his job, he failed dismally.

Piers, Duvier is a former member of the German military and has worked for the likes of Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. He CLEARLY knows what he’s doing.

Morgan then continued incorrectly blabbering about Duvier’s decision to go out to a club with Kris and Kendall Jenner (despite the fact that he only did so because Kim said she felt safe at her apartment. I highly doubt Duvier was out just so he could put a few shots down — he was working):

Particularly as he then decided to go a nightclub with Kim’s mother Kris and sister Kendall rather than stay with his principle charge.

Well, Piers, and Daily Mail editors, before you publish an offensively inept article like this one, you should probably fact check yourselves. Kris Jenner, who Morgan says was out clubbing in Paris with Duvier, was in America. Duvier was in fact out with Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner. I get it, all of their names start with K and it’s quite confusing but when you’re pedalling the bullshit that Piers Morgan is, he should at least try to be as factual as possible.

Look, I literally could not give less of a f*ck about the Kardashians, the Jenners, the Wests or whatever they hell their names are… I just CANNOT stand Piers Morgan, and will point out his stupidity any chance I get.

And since we’re here, here’s a couple videos of Piers Morgan getting absolutely clowned on by various guests:

A Texas Tech Student May Have Been Stabbed By A Clown Last Night

I say ‘may’ because the only source for this story is Twitter. Some tweets say there was a stabbing, others say there was just a sighting, but all of them said the clown was arrested. One thing is for certain: there was definitely a clown sighting on the Texas Tech campus Monday night, resulting in the school being placed on lockdown.

We do not like this meme, guys. It is not dank. Pls stahp.

Not much is known about the incident as the only source of news is coming from students’ Twitters, which as we know, are less than reliable. For example, this chick claims that clown stabbed a student, and was then shot and killed:

And then, on the other hand, there is this student, claiming the entire situation is being overblown:

Texas Tech is far from the only place where creepy clowns have been spotted. Check out

Also, here’s a video of one of these stupid clowns getting their ass beat:

This Week In Florida News: Parents Brawl Out At A Chuck E. Cheese’s

chuck e cheese fight

via @KRVSTEL Twitter

I genuinely hope every single one of these people’s employers sees this video. It’s one thing to get caught in a regular fight on tape, let alone at a F*CKING CHILDREN’S CHAIN RESTAURANT. What could have possibly happened inside of a CHUCK E. CHEESE’S that would illicit this type of behavior? I mean, this is a massive brawl. It’s not like one kid stole another kid’s tickets and two parents are squaring up. It looks as though the entire establishment went into full riot mode.

Florida has somehow found a way to Florida-ize a children’s restaurant. Just when you think Florida couldn’t Florida any harder, they find a way.

Both of COED’s editors, myself and our boy Wyatt, have celebrated birthdays at this fine family entertainment center, and find it downright heartbreaking that this once hallowed ground has fallen victim to the Floridians.

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand time: Florida, the Russia of the United States.

These Killer Clown Memes Are No Joke, America

Clown Sighting Memes

Killer clown sightings have been on the rise since they were first spotted in South Carolina trying to lure children into the woods with offers of candy and money. And they’re not just popping up in the backwoods of the South anymore, as people have now spotted these makeup-wearing maniacs on college campuses across the country.

And while the police would say that the clowns are nothing to worry about, you all know better. Halloween is still weeks away and these freaks are out in the daylight trying to scare the bejeezus out of everyone. It’s time to take back our country, America. So while you go out and hunt these clowns to the last one, we’ll be hunkered down in our fortified basement making sure that no one comes in or out. OK?

Yesterday, we were blessed with a Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales trailer. Not only did the trailer get me pumped for the movie, but it also made me realize that it would be a perfect time for a post about Kaya Scodelario. Scodelario is playing astronomer Carina Smyth, and she is the female lead in the upcoming film.

The 24-year-old is from Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England, and she hit the ground running as an actress. At just 14,Scodelario made her acting debut as Effy Stonem in the British teen drama series Skins (2007-2010, 2013). The show was a monster hit, and Scodelario’s performance was praised by fans and critics alike. After Skins, Kaya kept busy with several other projects, but her biggest success came in The Maze Runner films.

Scodelario stars as Teresa Agnes in these beloved movies based on the James Dashner novels. The Maze Runner (2014) currently has a 65% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it made $348.3 million at the box office on a $34 million budget.

The second movie in the series was Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015), and it brought home $312.3 million on a $61 million budget. The reviews weren’t quite as hot, as the film currently has a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes. The third and final film of the trilogy will be entitled Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and it is scheduled to be released on January 12, 2018.

To hold you over until the new Pirates and Maze Runner movies hit theaters, take a look at 22 of the hottest photos of Kaya Scodelario.

Alabama HS Student Hospitalized After Alleged BLM Protest Facebook Post

Brian Ogle BLM Protest Attack

Brian Ogle, a 17-year-old high school student from Sylacuga, Alabama, was found beaten and bleeding from the head after a homecoming football game. According to witnesses, Ogle was hanging with friends at a parking lot behind a hardware store when he was approached by a group of people.

These same witnesses told police that the cause of the attack was because of a post on Facebook Brian wrote about Black Lives Matter protests. The real cause of the attack hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we know that Brian is in critical condition. He was airlifted to UAB Hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken skull and brain damage.

Here’s a statement from Sylacauga Police Chief Kelley Johnson:

“There are many rumors afloat on social media that this incident may be stemming from an incident at SHS. This is at this time only rumors. It is however a part of the investigation. SPD is asking that the community allow us to do our jobs and not jump to conclusions about why this incident happened. SPD is praying for the victim and his family and also for our Community. I believe I speak for everybody when I say “the violence needs to stop, whether it is from the incident at the high school or for any other reason [source].”

Ogle’s mother, Brandi Allen, said that he had been receiving death threats at school following his Facebook post. She continued to say that he took those threats to the principal’s office, but that nothing was done.

“Instead of us planning for his 18th birthday, we’re here. Why? Because he made a statement that he backs the blue? I’m still trying to understand how someone, no matter the color of their skin, can do this to another human being,” Allen said.

Who Is Brian Ogle?

Brian Ogle is a 17-year-old high school student at Sylacauga High School.

What Happened?

According to witnesses, Ogle was attacked by a group of black kids while he was with his friends at a parking lot behind a hardware store. Some witnesses say that the number was between 9 and 60 (which is a pretty big disparity). As far as the reason for the attack, Ogle’s mother feels like it’s because some of the content that Ogle’s been sharing on his Facebook page, much of which is still public. Although there’s absolutely nothing that would actually be described as inciting violence, it’s clear that Brian Ogle isn’t the biggest fan of BLM Protestors.

He’d been receiving some anonymous threats from students, which he tried to warn his professor about.

Can We Talk About How Hot This One Host From ‘Westworld’ Is?

angela sarafyan

via HBO

I didn’t start watching Game Of Thrones till the show was five seasons in and let me tell you, it was a HUGE mistake. Westworld is shaping up to be HBO’s next Thrones-level hit, so take my advice and hop on the bandwagon now, cause this show is going to be huge.

In Westworld’s pilot, we’re introduced to about a dozen characters, both humans and androids. However, one of these characters REALLY stood out, and that’s Angela Sarafyan’s android prostitute Clementine Pennyfeather.

Angela Sarafyan is an Armenian-American actress. Sarafyan was born in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, and moved with her parents to the United States at the age of four. Prior to Westworld, Sarafyan played Stormy on Sex Ed: The Series, and she has appeared as a guest star in shows such as Judging Amy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Shield, The Division, 24, Cold Case, South of Nowhere, Criminal Minds, CSI: NY, Nikita, Blue Bloods and The Mentalist. Clearly, Westworld is her biggest and best role yet.

While much about Sarafyan’s role as Clementine is still unclear, we can only hope she plays a massive role going forward. The show will be better for it. We’ll be better for it.

WATCH: Man Takes Bong Rip Of Carolina Reaper Pepper, Goes All Brazzers Instantly

Ted Barrus, known by his YouTube subscribers as “The Fire Breathing Idiot,” loves to consume the hottest peppers in the world. But for one of his most recent videos, Ted decided to take a Carolina Reaper straight to the lungs via a fat bong rip.

At first when I saw this video, I thought he was going to smoke weed out of a bowl or something made of the Carolina Reaper pepper–but nope. He smokes the actual pepper itself which has a Scoville Rating of 1,400,000 SHU (a jalapeno has a rating of 10,000 SHU). I can say this with all seriousness that I wouldn’t touch one of those with a 12-foot-pole but here this guy goes and smokes that sh*t.

Obviously, sh*t hits the fan almost immediately after he tries to clear the bong. He can’t feel his arms, he starts puking, and just looks like an overall idiot while trying to get the devil out of his lungs.

Over the weekend, the University of Dayton was supposed to face off against Western Michigan University in a men’s lacrosse scrimmage. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate and the scrimmage was cancelled due to lightning. Instead of moping around and calling it a day, the two teams decided to determine a winner by playing rock, paper, scissors.

That’s how you make lemonade out of lemons! Holy smokes, that was probably the most intense game of rock, paper, scissors that I’ve ever seen. Loved how jacked up the players were getting, as it practically felt like the national championship was on the line. Definitely made my rock, paper, scissors games for the last slice of pizza look like child’s play.

I also deeply respect that they went with the best of three format. That’s clearly the gentleman’s way of playing rock, paper, scissors. If you play one game for winner-take-all stakes, you’re a goddamn Neanderthal. You gotta create that back and forth mental chess match.

The First Trailer For Netflix’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Dropped, Has My Inner Child Hyped AF

series of unfortunate events trailer

via Netflix

Fun fact: there are 13 books in A Series Of Unfortunate Events, and this guy read every last one of them. The End, the 13th and final entry in the series, wasn’t published until 2006, which is when I was in the seventh grade. Despite probably being a little too old for a children’s book, and being ‘too cool’ to read for fun, I still picked up the book the day it came out and finished it in a weekend. Those stories are amazing. In fact, I’d argue they were just as great as the Harry Potter series.

So, classic genius move by Netflix for turning it into a series. The Jim Carrey-led feature film was far from promising, however, it did show that Lemony Snicket’s world could be translated to the screen.

While details about the show are scarce, we do know that they absolutely nailed the casting by hiring Emmy and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris for the lead role of Count Olaf.

What I’m wondering is how many episodes/seasons this show will last? Will it only stay within the framework of the novels, or will it expand?

Guess we’ll have to wait until January 13, 2017 to find out.

Penn State Had A Full-On Lynch Mob Looking For A Clown Last Night

PSU Clown Chase Riot

Penn State students are known for riots. When Joe Pa got fired, it resulted in thousands of dollars in damages and several arrests. I used to think that these riots took place to stand up for what the Penn State student body believes in, but now I am not so sure.

Around midnight last night, PSU students went freaking WILD at the first whisper of a Penn State clown sighting. Students of all ages ran all around campus, up and down College Avenue, and crowded the Old Main Lawn carrying tennis rackets, golf clubs, and baseball bats, all while screaming “F*CK THE CLOWNS.” Freshmen started playing sirens from the movie The Purge just to freak everyone the hell out. Students were yelling “What do we want? The clown. When do we want it? Now.” Another great quote I heard was, “I don’t care about your race, religion, or creed, but we could all agree, F*CK THE CLOWNS.” A clown picture was projected onto the side of the Beaver Hills wall.

Here are some pictures/videos to recap the evening.

It turned into a full-blown clown hunt. At every other normal, calm, and collected university, when students saw clowns they thought “oh my so scary” and snap a pic. PSU students, we start running through the streets doing a “WE ARE” chant. What the hell is wrong with this world.

The NBA’s Million Dollar Question: Are the Warriors Truly Unstoppable?

Golden State Warriors predictions analysis

Ever since the Warriors stunned the sports world and signed Kevin Durant, NBA analysts around the country have them pegged to win the 2017 NBA Championship and even break their single-season wins record set last year. Featuring a starting lineup that includes back-to-back MVP, Steph Curry, 2014 MVP Kevin Durant, with perennial All-Stars Klay Thompson and Draymond Green as the third and fourth option, the Warriors lineup is like something out of a video game.

In addition to their amazing starting lineup, the Warriors also feature a formidable bench that includes the versatile Shaun Livingston, a seasoned David West, and the 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala. With guys like these coming off the bench, it is understandable to think that the Warriors super-team has the potential to win 74 games and cruise their way to an NBA Championship. However, much like the super-teams of the past, the Warriors have weaknesses, one of which is a glaring hole in the middle.

In order to pull off the impossible and sign Kevin Durant, the Warriors had to make some sacrifices. Those sacrifices came in the form of trading away defensive center, Andrew Bogut, and letting Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli walk in free agency. While the offensive production of the latter two can be replaced by Kevin Durant, the loss of Bogut’s defensive presence will not be replaced that easily.

There’s a saying in basketball, “You live by the three and you die by the three.” For the past two years, the Warriors have been living on the edge of that three-point line, and it’s thanks to the defensive prowess of Andrew Bogut that has kept them going this long. The Achilles heel of ‘living by the three’ are the cold streaks. If the ball isn’t falling from behind the arc, there are a limited number of other options on offense as teams who rely on the three-point shot tend to use smaller lineups and lack a presence in the middle. Andrew Bogut did an amazing job at masking that weakness, as teams who were built around a center were not able to take advantage of the small-ball style of play that the Warriors employ.

The Warriors have been trendsetters with their small-ball style of play, however, history has shown that the NBA has always been ruled by the big man. From the dominating days Wilt Chamberlain to the present days of Demarcus Cousins and his basket of skills. When a big man is given the ball to lead his team, he will take over the game. The Warriors might have added a former MVP and two-time gold-medal winner in Kevin Durant, however, the addition of Durant’s firepower on offense might offset the Warriors huge loss on defense.

In an attempt to re-mask this weakness, the Warriors have signed big men Zaza Pachulia and JaVale McGee to one-year deals, as well as brought back veteran big man Anderson Varejao. While Pachulia had a solid season last year, McGee is a Shaqtin’ a Fool Hall of Famer and is widely regarded as one of the dumbest players in the NBA. While he has shown promise at times on the court, his mental lapses both on and off the court leave many question marks on to whether he has the basketball I.Q. to understand the intricate style of play of the Warriors.

A second weakness of constructing super-teams is the fact that there is only one ball on the court. This is unlike in football and baseball, which are stop-and-go sports where each play is designed for a certain player. Basketball is a continuous sport where anything could happen at any time and a player must learn to play without the ball and work with his teammates in order to win. One of the main reasons that Durant left Oklahoma City was his inability to coexist with fellow superstar, Russell Westbrook. Both players wanted the ball during crunch time and the desire to be “the man” led to clashes on the court that resulted in losses. Most famously last season when the Thunder floundered a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals against the Warriors. Golden State’s team philosophy is that wins are more important than personal performance, and it remains to be seen if Durant will be able to mesh with this “zero star mentality.”

The presence of Kevin Durant will give the Warriors an additional weapon on offense, however, his ability to mesh with this new offense as well as the sacrifices made on defense are huge question marks for this roster. While offense does win games, it’s defense that wins championships. Come playoff time in April, when the Warriors face off against tough teams such as the Spurs and Clippers, it won’t be their offense that decides their fate in a seven game series, but rather their defense instead. The Warriors may look like an unstoppable team on offense, however, the loss on defense may not get them back to the promised land when push comes to shove in the playoffs.

Denzel Washington Accepts Plea Deal For Strangling Aretha Franklin

Denzel Washington Aretha Franklin

Denzel Washington was arrested this past January for strangling his mother Aretha Franklin inside her apartment building in Manhattan and has now accepted a plea deal.

According to reports, Franklin refused to provide her 20-year-old son money for a date, but Washington would take money from his mother’s coat pocket anyway. When Franklin confronted her son about stealing her money, he responded with anger and violence; wrapping his hands around her neck. This past Wednesday, Washington accepted a plea bargain from the courts.

Who Is Denzel Washington?

He’s not the acclaimed Hollywood actor you were thinking about when you clicked on this article. This isn’t the Denzel Washington who has graced the silver screen for decades. This Denzel Washington is a young man living in the city of New York. He is only 20, and he is already getting into trouble with the law and has not been too kind or respectful to his 52-year-old mother Aretha Franklin, who he attacked in January after letting anger get the best of him.

What happened?

This past January, Aretha Franklin called the police about a domestic disturbance with her 20-year-old son. This incident occurred in her apartment on West 93rd street in Manhattan. Aretha told police that her son needed money for a date, but when she refused, things took a turn for the worse. He took the money anyway, and when she discovered that her cash was missing, she confronted her son and he responded with violence.

According to the New York Post, “I am informed by Aretha Franklin,” the complaint says, “that she observed the defendant place his hands around her neck and apply pressure, thereby causing redness, bruising and substantial pain to her neck.”

But according to TMZ, even after his initial arrest, Washington would defy orders to stay away from his mother: “We’re told he showed up at his mom’s place a couple weeks ago to yell at her and cops busted him again.”

This past Wednesday, Washington took a plea bargain from the courts; turning his crime into a harassment charge, where he would be conditionally discharged, but will be required to undergo angry management therapy. Meanwhile, his trespassing charge remains open.

On the other side of the coin, the famous film star Denzel Washington and the celebrated soul singer Aretha Franklin still remain great friends; he even helped her celebrate her 72nd birthday in 2014. Hopefully, their strong celebrity friendship can set a positive example to help work out the mother and son struggle with another Aretha Franklin and Denzel Washington.
