ESPN’s College Gameday show delights us with its fans’ devilishly clever signs every Saturday morning of the college football season. But today an innovative lad took Gameday signs to the next level by posting his Venmo account, and he has profited off the exposure. As people watching at home caught wind of the sign, which at one point was right behind Kirk Herbstreit’s enormous head, donations started to pour in. The sign has since gone viral  and hundreds of people have given money to this guy’s Venmo account.

And because people are the worst, numerous impostor accounts have since been created to try to dupe people into giving them money.

The Gameday crew were at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol Tennessee where the Tennessee Volunteers are taking on the Virginia Tech Hokies tonight in the first football game ever played at the famous racetrack. It’s unclear who this ingenious SamC2270 fellow is but let’s hope he does the right thing and buys everyone in his row a beer at the game.

On Saturday night, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez will face off against Carlos Cuadras for the WBC Super Flyweight Title. Gonzalez (45-0, 38 KOs) will be looking to make history by becoming the first ever Nicaraguan boxer to win titles in four different weight classes.

Gonzalez has previously won belts at the strawweight and junior flyweight levels, and he is the reigning flyweight champion. He will now move up in weight to challenge Cuadras (35-0-1, 27 KOs) for his super flyweight title in what should be a highly entertaining slugfest.

Chocolatito is considered by many boxing pundits to be the top pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, but beating Cuadras will certainly not be a walk in the park. Cuadras, of Mexico, has made six successful title defenses since taking the belt from Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in May of 2014 via an eighth-round technical decision.

Two years ago Central Michigan converted a mind-boggling Hail Mary play with a few laterals to score with no time left on the clock in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl. And somehow they were able to do it again today to knock off #22 Oklahoma State by a score of 30-27.

QB Cooper Rush connected on the pass with receiver Jesse Kroll, who then wisely lateraled to Corey Willis who was able to  stave off the Oklahoma State defenders to reach the endzone.

This is why we love college football. Sure the NFL has superior players, but that just means these whacky game-ending plays don’t happen nearly as often.

The games on the schedule today are underwhelming to say the least, so it’s good we got to see this one thrilling upset. Unless you’re an Oklahoma State fan that is.

UFC 203 emanates tonight from Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, and it should be a great night of fights. The card is headlined by heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic defending his title against Alistair Overeem. The event will also include a novelty fight; former WWE star CM Punk makes his long-awaited MMA debut against the favored Mickey Gall.

Stipe Miocic (C) vs. Alistair Overeem for the UFC Heavyweight Championship

Overeem connected on a powerful left power kick early and then looked to end it with a guillotine choke but Miocic managed to escape. Then, with his hometown Cleveland crowd firmly in his corner, Miocic was able to rebound to tag Overeem a bunch of times with strikes. Overeem then got in a few shots of his own and the two went back and forth. Then with about a minute left in the first round, Overeem swung wildly and missed, and Miocic got on top of Overeem. Then Overeem landed some vicious ground-and-pound punches and it was lights out for Alistair Overeem when the referee stepped in.

After the fight, to the scorn of the Cleveland crowd, Overeem dubiously claimed that Miocic had tapped while in the guillotine choke. The video footage didn’t show any evidence of that.

This was a mauling. Gall scored and early takedown and threw some huge punches from on top of a helpless CM Punk. Then Gall looked to lock in the rear naked choke and Punk staved off his first attempt but couldn’t stop another try soon after. CM Punk tapped out. Punk showed his guts by just stepping into the octagon, but the 37-year-old former WWE Superstar didn’t display anything to suggest he has a future in competitive fighting.

UFC 203 included the spectacle of CM Punk making the move from the WWE to MMA — and it didn’t go particularly well for the wrestler. As detailed in our wrap-up of last night’s action, CM took a real beating from Mickey Gall in a fight that ended in a submission. IN fact, it ended like this…

But while CM didn’t show a real flair for this kind of fighting, he et the masses know that he was still ready to keep taking a mauling, as seen in this post-fight interview…

So, good for CM Punk for not punking out, and we bet there’s a headline you won’t see being used today. We’re not sure how good CM is feeling about things this morning. Dana White might have some thoughts about CM’s future in the UFC, too. But at least the guy has one hero in his corner…

There is nothing like starting the new season with a divisional matchup. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons will renew their NFC South battles right away to start the 2016 season in the Georgia Dome on Sunday. After struggling last season, both teams will be looking to improve their fortunes this year with their talented quarterbacks and solid wide receivers. This has the potential to be a real shootout in Atlanta. Here is a look at the matchup.

The Buccaneers went 6-10 last season but made major improvements with Jameis Winston under center as the season went on. The run game behind Doug Martin was fifth in the NFL last week and the combination of Winston and Martin to go with the height and athletic ability of Mike Evans on the outside makes Tampa Bay a very dangerous team to deal with. The defense has made changes to improve and a win to open the season could lead to a special season for the Buccaneers that may even include a playoff berth.

It was an 8-8 season for the Falcons last year. The team had the best fantasy running back in Devonta Freeman and a catch machine in Julio Jones but couldn’t do any better than the .500 record. Matt Ryan and company need to do better this season and score more points. It wouldn’t hurt to get some more hope out of the defense as well and they could have a great day dealing with Winston. This is a game that could launch the winner into a playoff season while the loser could go back to the drawing board looking for answers heading into Week 2.

The stories behind the Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles are aplenty. Cleveland had a chance to draft an elite quarterback but elected to move down in the draft while Philadelphia moved up and got their next quarterback in Carson Wentz. As the two teams play to begin the 2016 season, they will be looking to get off on the right foot with their new quarterbacks under center and high expectations to succeed. Here is a look at the matchup.

Cleveland turns to Robert Griffin III as their man under center. Griffin moves from Washington to Cleveland and hopes the change of scenery will turn his career around. The Browns decided after a 3-13 season that Griffin was a better option than either Wentz or Jared Goff, who could have been had by the Browns in the draft. The run game is up to Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson Jr. while Corey Coleman will be depended on to be the top receiver for a team that will likely be behind quite a bit this season. This may be a long season in Cleveland.

The Eagles will turn to Wentz after trading Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings. There will be a learning curve for the former North Dakota State quarterback and with a new coach also in Philadelphia, expectations will still be for the playoffs, even if it doesn’t look likely. With changes at running back as well as in the wide receiver core, the offense could be in serious trouble. It will be up to the Eagles’ defense to hold down the fort in a difficult NFC East and looking to avoid a last place finish after the team had high hopes as recently as last year.

It was a tale of two very different seasons in 2015 for the Chicago Bears and Houston Texans. Chicago finished in last place in the NFC North while Houston won the AFC South. As the two teams get ready to face off to open the 2016 season, it doesn’t appear like much has changed for both teams with Jay Cutler still under center for the Bears and a new quarterback in Brock Osweiler taking over for the Texans. Here is a look at the matchup.

The Bears went 6-10 with Cutler under center last season and had trouble scoring points. The team released Matt Forte in the offseason and will look to Jeremy Langford to pick up the slack. The defense has its own struggles and while John Fox continues to improve that, the offense will need to pick it up in a big way. Cutler needs a career season for the Bears to have any chance at making the playoffs, which doesn’t appear likely right now. This first game will be a massive test against J.J. Watt on the road to open the new season.

The new season brings Osweiler to town looking to make Houston an even better team than the one they had last season. Many think that he could make the Texans into an 11-win team but the only way that is going to happen is if the Texans can win this first game of the season at home. Lamar Miller also becomes the main running back and is poised for a big season with his new team. Houston knows that they have a tough division to deal with. Osweiler would love to get off to a solid start against a team that may not be the best all season long.

Sunday’s matchup between the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens is one that should be focused on what happens with the quarterbacks in the game. Tyrod Taylor was Joe Flacco’s backup for four years and now gets a chance to show his old team what he can do while Flacco is coming back from a torn ACL and MCL suffered last November. It should come down to which one of the quarterbacks is able to perform better to open the season. Here is a look at the matchup.

Buffalo had the best run game in the whole NFL last season with LeSean McCoy. McCoy will have a big role again this season, but will Rex Ryan take the wraps off of Taylor? He is poised to have a big season under center if he is able to get the ball down the field to Sammy Watkins. The Bills finished 8-8 last season and could make a serious run at the playoffs with the right breaks. This is the first game with Taylor back in Baltimore for the first time should be a key measuring stick on whether or not something special could happen this season for the Bills.

It was a disaster last season for the Ravens with their 5-11 record. They released starting running back Justin Forsett last week and will now turn to Terrance West and Buck Allen to lead their running game. While both have the potential to be serviceable, Flacco is someone who needs to have a huge bounceback season. He is a Super Bowl winning quarterback and hasn’t looked like one over the past two seasons. This would be a great chance for Flacco to start the season off right with a win and gets some confidence going moving forward.

The Green Bay Packers and Jacksonville Jaguars have been going in two very different directions over the past several years with Green Bay being a playoff team every year and Jacksonville struggling to stay out of the top five in the NFL Draft. The Jaguars are showing signs of life while the Packers appear to have the inside track now to the NFC North title. Here is a look at the matchup.

Green Bay will get Jordy Nelson back after missing all of last season and that gives Aaron Rodgers his favorite wide receiver back in the fold after a 10-6 season in 2015. Randall Cobb showed he can be a capable top receiver but will be more comfortable in the No. 2 role. The Packers benefit from the injury to Minnesota quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and are now favored to win all their games this season. While that won’t happen in all likelihood, the Packers are in a position to have a special season and will be ready to start it off in grand style on the road.

Jacksonville finished 5-11 last season but looking at that record planning forward isn’t the smart thing to do. The Jaguars have a great quarterback in Blake Bortles and changes on defense should improve the overall product in Jacksonville this season. Bortles is the key to this game for the Jaguars. If he can light up the Packers’ secondary, the Jaguars have a chance to sneak out of this game with a win. A run game led by Chris Ivory and T.J. Yeldon should also give the Packers fits. This is going to be a very close game that comes down to the final whistle.

It was a long year for the San Diego Chargers in 2015 and as they start 2016, they get their division rival in the Kansas City Chiefs who went to the playoffs last season. San Diego will be hoping for a big year out of Joey Bosa, while Kansas City will be hoping that they can build on a 2015 season that they will always remember. This is a big game for both teams strictly because every team wants to start 1-0 and also because it is a division matchup. Here is a look at the matchup.

It is a very simple winning equation for the Chargers going into the new season. Philip Rivers threw the ball a ton last season while Melvin Gordon struggled running the ball. If Gordon can show in this season opener that he is a solid and realistic option, the Chargers may be able to win much more than they did last year. If San Diego can be a playoff team, it will be up to whatever Rivers can produce with his talented offense led by Keenan Allen at wide receiver, and it is a key opener.

The Chiefs allowed Alex Smith to be a game manager and that resulted in Kansas City only averaging 203 yards a game through the air. Jamaal Charles should be ready to go for Week 1 even with his injury problems but if he can’t go, Spencer Ware will be the lead running back. Ware is fully capable of taking over for Charles for this opening week and with a great defense in Kansas City, this could be a very low-scoring game. Smith and company are in a fine position to open the new season on a positive note and where they go into Houston for a key playoff matchup.

A quick look at the Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints shows two teams with quarterbacks heading in different directions with their age. Derek Carr is heading into the prime of his career for the Raiders while Drew Brees is nearing the end of the line for the Saints. As the two teams meet up to begin the 2016 season, this is a matchup worth watching for to see which quarterback can have the bigger day to open the year. Here is a look at the matchup.

The Raiders had a ton of trouble running the ball last season and could have more of the same going on this year, which is why Carr is such a huge piece to the puzzle. He may have to put up a 400-yard game in this one to win what is guaranteed to be a shootout between two teams that weren’t good on defense last season.  This is a big game for the Raiders and their chances in the AFC West. A quick start against the NFC South would take them a long way towards winning a division that has a massive opening in it with Denver on the decline.

New Orleans had the worst defense in the NFL last season and the top passing game. It is going to force Brees to throw for a ton of yards to win games yet again after a bad season last year. Mark Ingram is back from injury which should help take some pressure off of Brees but who knows if that will be enough or not. If the defense doesn’t get much better, it’s going to be another long season down in the Bayou. This is a game where the first team to 40 points wins. Brees and company are used to those games and have this one at home in the Superdome.

The Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets will go into the 2016 season opener as two of the better teams in the AFC. Cincinnati won the AFC North last season while the Jets were one win away from making the playoffs. The two teams combined to go 22-10 in 2015 and could be expected to match that mark or even better this coming year. This is a key game for both teams as it could be the difference between making the playoffs or not with tiebreakers in December. Here is a look at the matchup.

The Bengals went 12-4 last season but lost their first playoff game yet again. Andy Dalton didn’t play in that game due to injury but is back to 100% now for the new season. A.J. Green is clearly his favorite target and with a two-headed monster at running back with Jeremy Hill and Giovani Bernard.
