The Premier League 2016-2017 season kicked off this weekend. Chelsea is coming off of a disappointing 2015-16 season, finishing in 10th place. Their manager Jose Mourinho was fired in December of 2015, and was then hired as manager of Manchester United. Former Italian boss Antonio Conte is now managing Chelsea. West Ham, on the other hand, had a relatively successful 2015-16 campaign, finishing seventh in the Premier League, which was enough to qualify for Europa League play.

The 2016–17 Premier League is the 25th season of the Premier League, the top English professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. The season began August 13, 2016, and will last until May 21,  2017. Leicester City is the defending champion, with Burnley, Middlesbrough, and Hull City being promoted from the Football League Championship. Rounding out the top four from last season, are Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City.

Usain Bolt memes are the hot commodity on the streets after the Jamaican sprinter won his third Olympic gold medal in the Men’s 100 Meter Final. There was never any doubt from anyone that the 6’5″ runner was going to win his event, but it’s the manner in which he dominated the track that’s made him more popular than ever. In a photograph taken towards the end of the race, Bolt was captured looking back at the competition smiling like a famous troll.

Of course, the internet hopped on that picture immediately and started adding their own flavor to an already incredible picture.

Brazil and Nigeria’s Men’s Olympic Basketball teams tip off for the first game in today’s roundball action. It’s a must-win game for both teams. Although both Brazil and Nigeria are tied for last place, they both have an opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals round if Croatia loses to Lithuania tonight at 9:30 PM. It would be the first time that Nigeria has ever advanced to the elimination round of the basketball tournament in the Olympics. Brazil, meanwhile, is fighting for their country and pride–trying to make a last stand in Rio.

Nigeria’s coach Will Voigt has been getting a lot of press since their upset win over Croatia that nobody saw coming, but he’ll be put to the test against a Brazilian team that outclasses his squad in every single category (except for maybe rebounding). To beat the host nation, they’ll need to do an excellent job cleaning the glass and simultaneously keeping their fingers crossed that they hit as many three-pointers.

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of Selena Gomez. As far as I’m concerned she’s one of the hottest chicks in the world. Bieber has been banging out 17-year-old Sofia Richie, who happens to be the daughter of Lionel and younger sister of Nicole (remember her? Paris Hilton’s friend? Yeah). Apparently, the Beliebers (who feverishly suck in their own right) aren’t too thrilled with JB’s latest piece and have been letting him know as much in the comments of his Instagram page.

Naturally, Bieber, being the sackless soggy waffle that he is, lashed out at his followers, threatening to make his Instagram private.

Dude, you are an absolute clown. You are one of the richest and most recognizable entertainers in THE WORLD, and you’re letting the INSTAGRAM COMMENTS FROM 13-YEAR-OLD GIRLS bother you that much? Bieb, I knew you were soft as baby crap, but this is unprecedented sacklessness. In comes Selena, who eviscerates Bieber into the next dimension.

Naturally, Twitter hopped in on the party, starting the hashtag #SelenaEndedJustinParty. The results are predictably hilarious.

Hero David Phung was doing his part to help out the people trapped in the awful Louisiana floods that began this weekend, when he and his boat came across a woman and her dog drowning inside their car. When breaking the windows didn’t work at first, David jumped into the water to pull the woman out through her sun roof.

Honestly, I knew what was going to happen and my heart still skipped a couple of beats once her car submerged entirely. A big hat tip to David Phung, who literally saved this woman’s life. More on that below.

We came across this incredible video from TigerDroppings, an LSU + and Louisiana message board with a ton of interesting content about all sorts of stuff. In that same thread, more than a few people commented on the woman, saying that they had personally seen her driving back and forth in the flood.

“This lady was obviously impaired and had been driving back and forth down Elliott all morning, as the water rose. My uncle stopped her from coming one last time and she zoomed off, nearly hitting a truck. She recklessly put these men’s lives in danger. She should be prosecuted.”

And another user who claims his wife took a video of her racing into the floods in her MIATA.

There’s a good chance that she could be hit with reckless endangerment and even a DUI if she got breathalyzed. All the same, the hero here is David Phung. Good on you, dude.

Spain and Argentina close out their Group B preliminary stage of Men’s Olympic Basketball tonight at 6:00 PM EST. Argentina is currently in first place in the group, but incredibly Spain can come back to steal the #1 spot in the group after two extremely disappointing losses to Croatia and Brazil with a win tonight.

Argentina has been been playing up to par with how we thought they’d perform, but now face the back end of a tough schedule. They pulled out an incredible double-overtime win over Brazil on Saturday, so hopefully they’ll be rested for a tough game on Monday night. Look for them to give a 100% effort to secure the #1 spot in Group B and their best opportunity to play in the gold medal game.

Meanwhile Spain hasn’t looked all that hot these Olympics, despite playing with one of the more talented teams on paper. Stupid losses to Croatia and then Brazil have put the Spanish team on the hot seat, so we’ll have to see how they respond.

Her best event is the 400 meter hurdles, and she’s already been very successful in this discipline. At the 2015 World Youth Championships, Sydney won gold in the 400 meter hurdlers. This will also be the event that she competes in at the 2016 Summer Olympics, as she punched her ticket to Rio by finishing third at the U.S. Trials with a time of 54.15.

OK, so everyone knew that Johnny Depp was a little bit of a loon, right? Well, apparently he’s actually a Stage Five Psychopath because now TMZ and Amber Heard are claiming that he once cut the tip of his finger off after he thought his then-wife Amber Heard had cheated on him with Billy Bob Thornton. What happens next is somehow even worse…

The actress alleges that in an “alcohol and ecstasy” fueled moment of anger, Johnny broke a ton of windows in their house, cutting the tip of his finger off accidentally. But instead of going to the hospital to get that fixed, he dipped his finger into blue paint and wrote (in a strange blood/paint combination) the words “Starring Billy Bob and Easy Amber” on a mirror. There are photos of both events, which have been entered into evidence for their divorce court hearing.

Apparently, this happened just ONE MONTH into their marriage!

Heard reportedly says Depp accused her of cheating with her former co-star Billy Bob Thornton, an allegation she vehemently refuted. She also claims he made similar accusations regarding other men.

She claims the 52-year-old actor waited almost one full day before seeking medical help, so doctors were forced to sew on a new tip made from a flap from his hand instead of reattaching the original fingertip [source].

Honestly, we don’t know where to begin, so let’s just start with the fact that we’re kind of impressed/depressed that Depp is taking rolls at the age of 52. You’d think that was something he’d get over, but apparently not.

Speaking of doing weird stuff at a certain age, why is it that Amber Heard is attracted to all these older guys? We don’t know if she hooked up with Billy Bob Thornton or not, but like, there had to be SOME reason why he would at least be suspicious. Amber Heard is a 30-year-old, married to a 53-year-old, and allegedly linked to a 61-year-old. Again, we have no skin in the game either way, but most 30-year-old people I know would never allow themselves to be even thought of dating or hooking up with someone 60 years old.

After Chicago Cubs closer Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth inning last night, an employee made just about the worst possible song choice by playing The Prodigy’s egregious 1997 single “Smack That B***h Up” over the team’s PA system. Chapman was suspended for the first 30 games of the season as a member of the Yankees for a domestic violence incident, so to hear this song after he pitched during the nationally televised game was quite appalling.

It’s unclear whether the employee selected the song because he thought it would be funny or if he was taking a stand against the team employing a domestic abuser, but either way the Cubs were not amused. Initially the Cubs said the song was unintentionally played last night and apologized, but this afternoon it was announced that the responsible employee has been fired.

The Cubs are a contender to win their first World Series in over a century, so it’ll be interesting to see if this mortifying moment becomes a distraction for the ball club as they gear up for a playoff run.

It hasn’t taken them long to start kicking ass, though. Ágatha and Bárbara won the 2015 Beach Volleyball World Championships, and they’ve been looking sharp in Rio. The pair finished in second place in Pool B with a 2-1 record, beating Barbora Hermannová and Markéta Sluková of the Czech Republic and Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug of Argentina. Their lone loss in group play came against Pool B winners Elsa Baquerizo and Liliana Fernández of Spain.

They advanced to the knockout stage, and they’ve taken care of business in their first two matches. The 33-year-old Ágatha and the 29-year-old Bárbara swept both Wang Fan and Yue Yuan of China and Ekaterina Birlova and Evgenia Ukolova of Russia to earn a spot in the semifinals. Their next match will take place against Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross of the USA on Tuesday, August 16 at 10:59 p.m.

To be clear, I don’t know if this guy is actually on drugs. My logic is A). most Taco Bell patrons are usually on some type of substance, and B). the dude rode his f*cking horse into a fast food restaurant. That’s either the result of drugs or stupidity. This is actually quite ironic, considering horse meat was discovered in Taco Bell’s food a few years ago.

Anyway, 19-year-old Lathan Crump, the man on said horse, wrote in the caption for the video:

“Well ole Hollywood was a lil hungry after the rodeo so I road him in to grab a bite”

According to Fox News, Crump and his family are third-generation cowboys and cowgirls in Campbell, Texas, where he breaks and trains horses.

Unsurprisingly, Crump went viral almost instantly, as he was even interviewed by Fox News.

But even more surprisingly, unless someone complains, police will not be pressing charges.

Gamescom 2016 is going to be one of the largest video game conferences in the world this year. Although a couple of larger developers and companies have started to drop out in favor of their own, personal launch events, Gamescom is still going to be home to a ton of huge game announcements. You simply can’t ignore the fact that over 340,000 gamers will be in the city checking out the latest and greatest in video games.

So from August 17th-21st, you can expect Cologne to be the center of the universe as far as video games and virtual reality games are concerned.

Gamescom 2016 Press Conference Schedule

• It’s kind of a bummer this year that both Microsoft and Sony have announced that they won’t be holding individual press conferences at Gamescom 2015. In the past years, major announcements have been made in Cologne, so it’s up to the organizers to prove this year that their event is still a big dog in the world of video game news.

• Electronic Arts: August 16th at 12:15 PM EST
That being said, Electronic Arts is sort of, kind of, also dropping out of Gamescom. Instead of hosting an event at the conference, EA will live stream a presentation on August 16th. Fortunately, they’ll still have a massive presence at the conference itself, though, offering a ton of consoles to give gameplay previews of Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1.

Tuğba made her first Olympic appearance in Rio, and it was a very disappointing debut for the 22-year-old. She didn’t advance past round 1 after finishing 14th in her heat and 41st overall with a time of 9:49.93. Only the top 18 runners advanced to the finals for the 3000 meter steeplechase, so Tuğba was forced to watch on the sidelines.

While I’m sure Tuğba was crushed at how everything played out, she has nothing be to ashamed of. Just making it to the Olympics is an unreal accomplishment. And besides, who needs a medal anyway when you’re already a total babe? Being gorgeous is the ultimate fallback plan.

Pernille Blume is a 22-year-old Danish Olympic swimmer, who specializes in freestyle events. She made her Olympic debut at the 2012 Games in London, but she returned home empty-handed. Pernille competed in five events, and her best finish was sixth place in the 4 x 100 meter freestyle. Pernille would get sweet vengeance at the 2016 Summer Olympics, bringing home gold in the 50 meter freestyle and bronze in the 4 x 100 meter medley. She edged out Simone Manuel for gold by just two-hundredths of a second in a highly entertaining, nail-biter of a race. Pernille didn’t medal in the 100 meter freestyle or the 4 x 100 meter freestyle, but she still had herself a damn impressive Olympics.

After a brief offseason, the English Premier League is back to invigorate our weekends. With some of the best players and managers entering the picture, this is one of the most anticipated Premier League seasons to date. And it didn’t take long for the unbelievable goals to start flying again. Here are the top 5 goals from the opening slate of matches.

5.) Adama Diomande- Hull City

The first goal of the Premier League season was an absolute beauty. Diomande hammered home this bicycle kick en route to the newly promoted Hull City’s victory over defending champion Leicester City.

4.) Diego Costa- Chelsea

It seemed like West Ham would steal a heart in Monday’s week one matchup of London clubs, but the Premier League villain Diego Costa scored this dramatic late winner for Chelsea.

3.) Sadio Mane- Liverpool

In his first match for new club Liverpool, Sadio Mane had the club’s fans salivating with this lovely goal that helped Liverpool achieve a 4-3 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Extra points for the celebration with manager Jurgen Klopp.

2.) Coutinho- Liverpool

Liverpool were actually behind 1-0 when Coutinho scored on this lightning bolt free kick. This goal or Sadio Mane’s goal easily could have earned the top spot on this list, but I’m an Everton fan who didn’t want to put a Liverpool goal #1. Sue me.

1.) Xherdan Shaqiri- Stoke City

The former Bayern Munich prodigy also delivered a free kick wonder strike to earn Stoke City a 1-1 draw in their opener versus Middlesbrough. This was the best goal of the weekend, and the arms crossed “deal with it” celebration helped earn it that distinction.

At the 2008 Games, Meaghan and Roseline came up short in the synchronized 10 meter platform, finishing in a disappointing seventh place. But they would come back strong at the 2012 Olympics, bringing home a bronze medal with a score of 337.62. Both Meaghan and Roseline also competed in the individual 10 meter platform in 2012, with Roseline finishing in 10th place and Meaghan in 11th place.

At the 2016 Summer Olympics, the 27-year-old Meaghan and the 29-year-old Roseline won bronze for the second straight Games in the synchronized 10 meter platform. Their score of 336.18 was nearly identical to the number they posted back in 2012. They will both look to add another medal to their respective trophy cases in the individual 10 meter platform, which will begin on Wednesday, August 17.

Since we can now consider ourselves IndyCar experts, we’d like to tell you about the best place to catch the race action at every Verizon IndyCar Series race. It’s called the Verizon Pit View and it gives you an unparalleled opportunity to check out what IndyCar racing is all about.

In the Verizon Pit View, fans get up-close-and-personal to the pit crew, enabling them to see exactly how these pit crews work so quickly. Obviously you’re not going to be allowed to give the pit crew a hand (and we’re not too sure that you’d even be helping them out), but you’re as close to the action as possible.

The Verizon Pit View is the best seat in the house by far, because not only are you at track level, right by a pit crew, you’ll have access to a ton of monitors that show all different views of the race.
