Sasha is the daughter of film director Steven Spielberg and actress Kate Capshaw. She has three sisters: Mikaela Spielberg, Destry Spielberg and half-sister, actress Jessica Capshaw, and three brothers: Theo Spielberg, Sawyer Spielberg and Max Spielberg. Damn, Steven Spielberg was/is one fertile MF.

Sasha has appeared in several of her father’s movies, including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and The Terminal. She attended Brown University in Rhode Island and performs in a band with her brother Theo called Wardell, who has released one album called The Accidental Zoo.

There’s good news, there’s great news, and then there’s finding out your Mom has beaten cancer. But for the Davies family, the blessings didn’t stop there. According to The Sun, Sonia Davies, who works as an administration assistant, had cancer in the parathyroid glands in her neck. She was in the US having vital keyhole surgery to remove a cancerous tumour, and had a feeling she would go on a winning streak after the op was a success.

Said Sonia Davies:

“I had my operation on Wednesday and until then, we didn’t know how serious it was. They told me that if it hadn’t been removed it would have been fatal – and at the very least I would have lost my voice within a year. They managed to give me the all clear straight after the operation, so as you would imagine, we were on cloud nine.”

She says that as they were returning home to celebrate the news, her husband Keith was scrolling through his emails and read about the EuroMillons:

“He was convinced that we were the luckiest people on the planet and definitely on a winning streak after the success of my op, so we called up my daughter Courtney to ask her to go and buy a ticket. She was travelling and wasn’t able to change her plans so we called Stephanie instead as something told us we needed to get a ticket – and the rest is history!”

Stephanie bought six Lucky Dips from the Overmonnow Garage in Monmouth, but it wasn’t until Sunday morning that she remembered to check the tickets, telling her boyfriend Steve:

“If I shout down it means we’ve won the lottery and if not, I’ve gone to bed.”

They won. The first person she called? Her mother Sonia.

It’s official: Allison Stokke is the athlete this great nation has. If you’re looking for the finest athlete in the US of A, look no further, because you’ve found her. Allison Rebecca Stokke is an American track and field athlete turned part-time fashion model. It’s pretty easy to see why.

Not only is Allison Stokke en fuego, but she’s also damn good at what she does. She broke a number of American records for high school pole vaulting. Nicholas Young, of Fairfax, Virginia, is accused of trying to help the terrorist organization ISIS, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia confirmed Wednesday morning. Young is alleged to have attempted to send money to ISIS via mobile-based gift cards using a messaging service frequently utilized by ISIS. According to NBC, Young will appear in federal court Wednesday afternoon, and could face 20 years in prison if convicted.

According to the Washington Post, Young was arrested Wednesday morning at Metropolitan Police Headquarters. According to an indictment filed in Alexandria federal court, a law enforcement source convinced Young to send him codes for mobile messaging cards that Young believed would be used by Islamic State fighters overseas to communicate. Young, who joined the Metro police in 2003, has been under the FBI’s watch since 2010.

The press release from the Department of Justice reads:

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Nicholas Young, 36, of Fairfax, who is employed as a police officer with the Metro Transit Police Department, was arrested today on charges of attempting to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization.  Young will have his initial appearance here at 2 p.m. today in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Theresa C. Buchanan.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Young has been employed as a police officer with the Metro Transit Police Department since 2003.  Law enforcement first interviewed Young in September 2010 in connection with his acquaintance, Zachary Chesser, who one month later pleaded guilty to providing material support to terrorists.  Over the next several years Young had numerous interactions with undercover law enforcement officers and a cooperating witness regarding Young’s knowledge or interest of terrorist related activity, many of which were recorded. Law enforcement also interviewed Young’s family and co-workers. Several meetings Young had with an undercover law enforcement officer in 2011 included another of Young’s acquaintances, Amine El Khalifi, who later pleaded guilty to charges relating to attempting a suicide bombing at the U.S. Capitol Building in 2012.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Young told FBI agents that he traveled to Libya twice in 2011 and he had been with rebels attempting to overthrow the Muammar Qaddafi regime.  Baggage searches revealed that Young traveled with body armor, a kevlar helmet, and several other military-style items.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, in 2014, Young met on about 20 separate occasions with an FBI confidential human source (CHS) posing as a U.S. military reservist of Middle Eastern descent who was becoming more religious and eager to leave the U.S. military as a result of having had to fight against Muslims during his deployment to Iraq.  During these conversations Young advised CHS on how to evade law enforcement detection by utilizing specific travel methods and advised CHS to watch out for informants and not discuss his plans with others.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, in Fall 2014, CHS led Young to believe that he had successfully left the United States and had joined ISIL.  In reality, CHS had no further contact with Young.  All further communications between Young and CHS’s email account were actually communications between Young and FBI undercover personnel posing as CHS.  In June 2015, Young emailed CHS asking for advice from CHS’s commanders on how to send his money overseas. Young said, “[u]nfortunately I have enough flags on my name that I can’t even buy a plane ticket without little alerts ending up in someone’s hands, so I imagine banking transactions are automatically monitored and will flag depending on what is going on.”

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, in December 2015, the FBI interviewed Young, ostensibly in connection with an investigation into the whereabouts of CHS.  Young said that CHS had left the United States to go on a vacation tour in Turkey approximately one year ago.  Young said that he knew of no one in the United States or overseas who helped CHS cross the Turkish border into Syria.

According to the affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, on July 18, 2016, Young communicated with whom he believed to be CHS regarding purchasing of gift cards for mobile messaging accounts ISIL uses in recruiting. On July 28, 2016, Young sent 22 sixteen digit gift card codes to the FBI undercover with a message that stated: “Respond to verify receipt . . . may not answer depending on when as this device will be destroyed after all are sent to prevent the data being possibly seen on this end in the case of something unfortunate.” The codes were ultimately redeemed by the FBI for $245.

Young faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Nicholas Young is a 36-year-old Washington D.C. Metro Transit Police Officer who was arrested on suspicion of trying to aid ISIS. He graduated from the Metro Transit Academy on Monday, December 22nd, 2003 after 37 weeks of training.

He is also known to associate with Amine El Khalifi, a man who pleaded guilty in 2012 to plotting to carry out a suicide bombing at the US Capitol Building. He currently lives in Fairfax, Virginia.

Young has been under surveillance since 2010.

What Happened?

Regina Powell, a resident of Deltona, Florida, was trying to be cool on Snapchat with her uncle’s .40 calibre pistol… but instead of shooting a video, she shot the gun. At her head. In a garage.

Thankfully the only injuries that the 24-year-old girl sustained were minor cuts, which happened when the gun discharged and exploded the phone in her hand. We’re thinking Regina was probably aiming the gun at the camera, not her head (thankfully). Regina’s aunt heard the noise and investigated what happened, then took her niece to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial.

But get this. Apparently, smart decisions run in the family because on their way to the hospital Regina’s aunt ditched the gun while driving on Saxon Boulevard near I-4. The gun still hasn’t been found.

The Press Herald has received emails threatening an attack against the Portland Police Department. The Maine paper says that two staffers received the email Wednesday morning. The email came from someone named Espen Brungodt, but whether that person actually sent the email could not be verified. Police Chief Mike Saushuck spoke with media at Portland City Hall at 11:30 a.m. EST. Since the threats have been made, the Portland Police have posted armed officers outside of their station. Following the threat, Portland, Maine, has closed their courthouse and administrative offices for the rest of the dya.

The email in question reads:

“Time for more police to die. We are getting our Sig Sauer MCX .223-caliber rifles ready, and very soon, my partners will head down to Portland Police Department on 109 Middle St. There they will shoot and kill as many police officers as they can. Meanwhile, I will get into position at the top of Cumberland County Parking Garade on 188 Newbury St. I have booby trapped the garage with explosives, so don’t go there. Time to take actions. More dead cops.”

Update: According to Portland PD, the suspect who made the threats has been arrested and the threat has been nullified. They will address the media again later today.

The attacks are said to take place at a Cumberland County Parking Garage at 188 Newbury Street, and at the Portland Police Department at 109 Middle Street.  The Cumberland County parking garage on Newbury Street was locked down for a couple of hours to investiage the threat.

Also, a Twitter user by the name of John Mackenzie, who joined Twitter in October 2015, using the handle @BrownClown42, tweeted the following three Tweets, with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter:

A group of men in the Saint-Denis district of Paris trapped a passenger bus on the early morning of July 28th, 2016 and firebombed the entire vehicle. Thankfully the group of men who can be heard yelling “Allah Akbar” evacuated the bus of five passengers and the driver before smashing the windows and throwing Molotov cocktails into the bus.

There are conflicting reports about the people who are actually responsible for the attack, but Mayor Didier Paillard denounced the act as “an act of vandalism” and “premeditated.” He did not call the crime an act of terrorism.

Paris has had a lengthy history of public unrest, even before the rising number of ISIS attacks this year. It could very well be that the gang members shouted “Allah Akbar” to throw the police off their trail, or even just to have some sick fun. The truth is that there had been several nights of unrest after the death of black Adama Traore, who many believed died at the hands of Paris police.

Jaden Smith might be a complete nutcase, but at least he has good taste in women. Re-introducing Sarah Snyder, a 21-year-old blonde who you might actually remember from a few years ago when we learned Smith was dating someone with a somewhat checkered past. After the two were first seen at New York Fashion Week, reports soon came out that Snyder had been arrested and convicted for stealing a $16K Hermes purse.

The couple was recently seen at the Suicide Squad premiere, showing a lot of PDA. Maybe just to prove a point to his parents that he doesn’t care she’s a criminal. Or maybe it was somehow to convince himself that Sarah hadn’t just posted a photo of her in bed with some other dude just one night before!

Joe Scarborough, who served in the House Of Representatives as a Republican rep (so he does have some ties to the party) discussed the possibility of Trump having his finger on the proverbial button with former CIA and NSA Director Michael Hayden (who CLEARLY has some experience in this field):

Scarborough: “What’s the time frame between his decision, and when the nuclear weapons are launched?”

Hayden: “Joe, it’s scenario dependent, but the system is designed for speed and decisivness. It is not designed to debate the decision.”

Now, according to The Hill, spokeswoman for the Trump campaign, Hope Hicks, said in an email that “there is no truth to this.” Yeah, well, no sh*t, what are they supposed to say? “Hey everyone, you heard correctly! Trump can’t wrap his head around why we don’t just run around nuking everyone! He’s our guy! #TrumpPence2016!”

Humans aren’t the only ones who like the beach, as evidenced by this absurdly cute family of black bears chilling at Pope Beach in Lake Tahoe. Honestly we’re a little surprised that people are willing to get this close to a bear and their cubs, but I guess a little bit of sun and fresh water is enough to calm everyone down.

That being said, how disappointing is that these goddamn bears have spent more time at the beach than me? I’ve been so knee-deep in weddings this summer that I’ve almost forgotten the frustration of getting all the sand out of my toes.

Side note, lake beaches are 100 million times more enjoyable than ocean beaches. Obviously you don’t have the awesome waves that you get from the ocean, but lakes are better in every single way. Fresh water doesn’t kill you when you get a little in your nose, the temperatures tend to be more ideal, you can just chill in a tube for hours on a lake, and the parties tend to get a lot wilder.

The CMA Music Festival is a 4-day-long country music festival hosted each summer by the Country Music Association in Nashville, Tennessee. Beginning in 1972 as Fan Fair, the event now hosts over 400 musicians and artists who hold autograph sessions and perform in one of the many concerts offered throughout the festival.

At the 2015 CMA Music Festival, attendance sold out seven months in advance and had a record-setting attendance of 87,680 fans attending the event besting 2014 by 9.6 percent. Visitors attended from all over the globe, representing 41 different nations, and all 50 states.

Over the past several Olympic games, the United States’ women’s basketball team has clearly been one of the most dominant in the entire world. With the Rio Olympics 2016 arriving, it’s time again for the women to dominate the world, with helps from the likes of all-stars such as Elena Della Donne, Brittney Griner and Sue Bird. If you haven’t already heard of Miss COED 2017, it’s time to get familiar. Why? Because it’s only the biggest and most awesome college competition in the country. Yet rather than listening to our biased opinion, take it from a student who knows first-hand what it’s all about.

We met Abbeth last year, and to say she’s been a real gem is an understatement. The 20-year-old and now junior at Texas Tech University was super involved in Miss COED 2016, so much so, that she made it to the semifinals. Yet this year, she’s hoping to take the top spot.

So is Abbeth the smartest, hottest, all-around coolest college girl in the country? You’ll have to vote for her this fall to find out. In the meantime, see what she has to say about the competition and how it helped her get through the toughest year of her life:

I know what you’re probably thinking. ‘What is THIS?!’ You might have seen a retweet, or even see it pop up on websites like The CHIVE. To me, it looked like the most mediocre excuse for a college-aged beauty pageant for all the had-beens that I used to duck away from in the hallways in high school. (GEE, THANKS GIRL). How wrong was I? Very. Let me explain.

For me, my Miss COED journey started in the downstairs of my sorority’s house. We were in the heat of work week, and for once we had our phones on us during some downtime between runs. For those of you who don’t know, formal recruitment for a sorority is the most important time of the year. Hands down. I got on Twitter, and I noticed I had a message from an account called COED. Not knowing who they were at the time or what any of this was, I hesitantly read [the message]. I honestly thought it was spam. It said that I looked like I was involved in my campus and would be great option to represent Texas Tech in a national contest. The link didn’t look scary, and I had 10 minutes to spare, so I filled it out. In true Abbeth form, I was brutally honest about my life in college- I wasn’t the greatest student in regards to academics, but I was a hard worker, and that was something I was proud of. I told the world how my mother battled cancer when I was 10, leading me to the direction of nursing, how hard I was struggling to support myself as an independent college student, and how embarrassing it could be at times when I couldn’t do normal college things or [afford to] buy groceries. My love for my university was bold, and it showed itself in my profile as well. I submitted some cute pictures of myself, and didn’t think about it again until about a month later.

There was only one other girl from Tech that I had to beat in the first round to represent us, and much to my surprise, I took the lead from day one. I was doing so well, I didn’t want to stop winning. I started pulling all of the strings I could. I used social media and Texas Tech accounts to promote myself. My mom shared the voting link. My sister who lives in Scotland shared the link too, so I had international voters as well! I must have sent about 300 text message links to my friends, asking for support. Soon, people from my school who didn’t even know me were sharing my profile, tweeting, and getting the word out. I had so much support from my school. I won the first round, and I was elated. Soon, a few people on campus started recognizing me from my profile and posts, and takings pictures with me (and of me, which was weird). The people who did come talk to me had incredible things to say about my profile. The people who didn’t, well they sent me some very rude replies. Either way, I had a name on campus, and that felt amazing. I even woke up one morning to find that two other contestants and I had been featured on The CHIVE home page!

I only made it to semifinals for Miss COED, but throughout the competition, the people from COED were constantly in contact with me- helping me with profile spotlights, sharing my pictures and videos, and just overall supporting me. I never once felt like they didn’t care about me or that I was just a pawn in a media popularity competition. The COED team was so there for me, that when my father passed away this past April, they reached out to me to express their sympathy. That was shocking to me. These people had never even met me in person, and here they were comforting me while I was going through my biggest loss, the lowest point in my life. I will never be able to forget the people at COED and the support network it gave me.

Perhaps at this point I should just do what I did in my profile, and once again be brutally honest. Miss COED is about more than who looks the hottest, who parties the hardest, and who does the craziest stuff on campus. It is pretty fair to say that historically, males have gotten more recognition for achievements in college. Miss COED is about finding the hidden firecrackers on every campus and letting them shine without apology. In a world that is still very dominated by men, we need a lot more media groups like COED.

The Rio Olympics 2016 will have many interesting stories but one of the bigger ones should come from mens’ beach volleyball. The United States will have a new pairing leading the country as Olympic veteran Phil Dalhausser and his 6’9″ frame welcomes newcomer Nick Lucena to the sand. It will be worth watching to see if Dalhausser can carry Lucena through his first Olympic games and to a medal in Rio.
