NBA Draft 2016: Oklahoma City Thunder Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

The Oklahoma City Thunder went 55-27 this past season and was within one win of making the NBA Finals before collapsing against the Golden State Warriors. There are a ton of decisions ahead for the Thunder and with the NBA Draft coming up on June 23, one of the biggest decisions will be whether or not to get a draft pick since the Thunder don’t have a single one right now. There is also another decision that will impact the franchise for a long time to come.

Kevin Durant is an unrestricted free agent and could take his talents elsewhere. Durant averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and five assists a game for Oklahoma City this past year. Durant is going to be looking for the big money though and may see a chance to move on from the Thunder to get that max deal. That would leave even more pressure on Russell Westbrook to step up his game even further than he has in the past.

With no draft picks and Durant’s uncertainty, this is going to be a very long offseason for Oklahoma City and their fans. Will the Thunder make a trade to get a draft pick? Will Durant return with a new long-term deal? Can the Thunder make it to the NBA Finals and win a title under Billy Donovan? A lot of these questions will be answered soon. Durant’s fate and the fate of the Thunder rests on his broad shoulders this summer in Oklahoma City.

NBA Draft 2016: Orlando Magic Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

It was a rough year for the Orlando Magic under Scott Skiles. The Magic went 35-47 and Skiles decided after one year to leave Orlando. Former Indiana Pacers coach Frank Vogel has taken over and with him comes big expectations moving forward. With some key players going into free agency, the June 23 NBA Draft looms even bigger for Orlando. The Magic have the No. 11 overall pick and need to use it wisely to improve and hopefully get closer to the .500 mark next season.

There is the matter of Evan Fournier being a restricted free agent. Fournier averaged 15.4 points a game behind Nikola Vucevic and Victor Oladipo for the Magic. He started 71 games as well and showed that he has a ton of potential. If he gets a better offer though from another team, he may be out of town which makes the Magic’s decision for the draft even harder. Do they want to look for a replacement for Fournier or try to find more scoring help?

With that No. 11 pick, there has been a ton of talk about Kentucky forward Skal Labissiere, who wouldn’t be an answer immediately but could fill a need in the long term with Vucevic and Oladipo. The Magic may be on to something with quality young players. They now need to find a way to win more games and get themselves back into playoff contention in the weak Eastern Conference. Vogel’s experience and the growing of Vucevic and Oladiop will make this an exciting season with an exciting draft next.

NBA Draft 2016: Philadelphia 76ers Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

There has been a plan for the Philadelphia 76ers for a long time now. The team has been losing and losing trying to get higher draft picks. After getting Joel Embiid, Nerlens Noel and Jahlil Okafor over the last three years, the team now has the No. 1 overall pick in the June 23 NBA Draft. There are plenty of solid options out there for the 76ers to work with but it will likely come down to just one player for the first of the team’s three first-round picks.

Isaiah Canaan is another solid young player but is a restricted free agent who could leave town. Outside of Canaan, the team’s core is pretty much set. It means a player like LSU’s Ben Simmons could come in and be the main scoring threat for Philadelphia, who is still recovering from trading away Kobe Bryant two decades ago. Simmons has the potential of being the next Bryant and he is someone that the 76ers desperately need on their roster.

There are also people who believe that Brandon Ingram would be the better choice over Simmons so the organization has a big decision to make right away when they are on the clock to start the draft. It is a no-win situation if the player they decide not to choose turns into a megastar but the 76ers need talent and Simmons and/or Ingram will help out from day one in the lineup. The years of losing may finally be ending in Philadelphia.

NBA Draft 2016: Phoenix Suns Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

Anyone who takes a look at the Phoenix Suns going into the June 23 NBA Draft notices two things right away. The team has four picks in the first 34 selections from the first to the second round and that the team needs a lot of help after going just 23-59 this season. The selections should allow this Phoenix to rebuild on the fly especially with two lottery picks. Here is a look at the Suns moving forward and especially in the draft.

The Suns won’t be losing any big time talent from their roster last season which isn’t a terrible thing but also allows the team to bring in new people without any major turnover. There are ten players already under contract for the 2016-17 season including Eric Bledsoe, who averaged 20.4 points a game in just 31 games last season. Brandon Knight averaged 19.6 points a game in getting most of Bledsoe’s starts when he didn’t play.

With the No. 4 pick, there are thoughts that the team will look overseas at a player like Croatia’s Dragan Bender who is just 18 years old and wouldn’t be able to help this coming season. With the No. 13 pick however, the team may get a player who can be on the floor for the upcoming season like Wade Baldwin from Vanderbilt or France’s Timothe Luwawu. There is also the thought of Henry Ellenson, who could come in and be a star immediately. The Suns have something big going on but need the right picks.

NBA Draft 2016: Portland Trail Blazers Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

The 2015-16 season was a very productive one for the Portland Trail Blazers as the team went 44-38 and made it to the second round of the playoffs. As Portland looks ahead to the 2016-17 season and adding to their roster to go alongside Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, the questions that need to be asked are many. What will the team do with no draft picks in the June 23 NBA Draft? Can the roster as currently constructed make a championship run?

The big piece that could be gone going into next season is Allen Crabbe. Crabbe was third on the team averaging 10.3 points off the bench. The Trail Blazers need to find some interior players though and someone who can score outside of Lillard and McCollum, who averaged nearly 46 points a game for Portland this past year. They can’t be depended on to continue doing that every single season. The Trail Blazers need some help for the two.

The Trail Blazers can’t get any help in the draft since they have no picks. Will the team try to get a second round pick somehow however that is a pure scorer? That may help out a lot or even a player who can play solid defense to improve on that aspect of the game. Portland has a lot of potential but needs a lot of help to take it to the next level. Hopefully Lillard and McCollum have something up their sleeve for next year.

NBA Draft 2016: Sacramento Kings Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

It could be described as a major struggle to win for the Sacramento Kings. The team went just 33-49 this past season and will have another new coach trying to lead DeMarcus Cousins and company next season. The team has the No. 8 pick in the June 23 NBA Draft and may be looking to find a replacement for Cousins, who has rubbed plenty of coaches the wrong way with his attitude. Here is a look at what the Kings have ahead of them in the draft.

Before the draft, the team needs to decide if they want to keep Rajon Rondo around. Rondo averaged 11.9 points and 11.7 assists a game this season and still has the talent to be a dangerous player in the NBA. If he remains, the team won’t have to worry about the point guard position. Cousins averaged 26.9 points and 11.5 rebounds a game and is a dominant center. Will the team want to keep dealing with Cousins though as time goes on?

With that eighth overall pick, there has been a lot of talk about Providence guard Kris Dunn who could step in and play from day one. Dunn is a point guard and would replace Rondo if he leaves or he could become a second point guard on the floor with Rondo to begin with. Dunn is one of the most ready players in this draft and that’s exactly what the Kings need right now moving forward. There is already enough turmoil to deal with.

NBA Draft 2016: San Antonio Spurs Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

There is no disputing that the San Antonio Spurs have been one of the best teams in the whole NBA over the last two decades. Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker have been the anchors of a solid team for a long time. They are all getting older and the team will be looking to improving on their 67-15 while leaning more on Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge. The team also has the No. 29 pick in the June 23 NBA Draft as they try to get even better for next season.

Duncan is an unrestricted free agent and who knows how much longer he will play while Ginobili has a player option for next season. That’s two very big pieces of the puzzle that have to be in place for the Spurs to win one more title for Duncan. Clearly, the team is building around Leonard and Aldridge who are much younger and could be the next wave of star power for San Antonio. Leonard averaged 21.2 points a game while Aldridge averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds a game last season.

The No. 29 pick isn’t usually one that comes with a lot of star power but there has been recent talk that Kentucky guard Tyler Ulis could fall all the way down to this pick due to his bad hip. If that happens, San Antonio will get a steal and could just continue on with their streak of winning 50+ games every single season. Ulis is exactly the kind of player that the Spurs love having and it could be another case of a great player falling into San Antonio’s lap.

NBA Draft 2016: Toronto Raptors Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

It almost turned into a dream season for the Toronto Raptors. The team went 56-26 and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Toronto has the luck of having the No. 9 pick in the June 23 NBA Draft even after having that great of a season and could be in line to pick up a big star to push them over the top. Could this be the start of a championship run north of the border?

Before the Raptors can do anything though, they need to find a way to keep DeMar DeRozan who is a free agent. DeRozan averaged 23.5 points a game this past season for Toronto and in line for a huge pay day. If the Raptors are going to make a serious run at the NBA Finals, they need DeRozan to be back in the fold along with center Bismack Biyombo. Those two are the biggest free agent keys to Toronto’s success or failure moving forward.

That No. 9 pick could go any number of ways but many are thinking the direction that Toronto will go is Michigan State forward Deyonta Davis. While he isn’t a finished product, he is someone that will help the Raptors out next season and many years after that. Toronto may be stumbling into some great luck with this high pick along with another first-round pick and fans around the NBA should be keeping their eyes on the Raptors moving forward.

NBA Draft 2016: Utah Jazz Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

When fans look at the Utah Jazz and their 40-42 record from last season, they may led to believe that the team isn’t that good. That couldn’t be further from the case. The Jazz have talent all over the court that is young and improving and with the June 23 NBA Draft just around the corner, Utah will be hoping that their No. 12 overall pick will come in and be a quick study and learner. The Jazz could be on track to make the playoffs next season with the right pick.

The Jazz won’t lose anyone in free agency and will be leaning more and more on Gordon Heyward, Derrick Favor and Rodney Hood next season. Heyward averaged 19.7 points and five rebounds a game while Favors averaged 16.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per contest. There is a ton of potential with the team’s frontcourt including center Rudy Gobert, who averaged nearly a double-double last season in 61 games for the Jazz.

The No. 12 pick is the same spot that the team drafted last year when they got Trey Lyles. The Jazz really need help at the guard position which has led many to believe that Vanderbilt’s Wade Baldwin will be the choice. The point guard showed he is fully capable at the college level and could take over the starting position sooner than later from Trey Burke. One way or another, Utah is moving forward in their quest to get back to the postseason sooner than later which next season being a reasonable goal.

NBA Draft 2016: Washington Wizards Draft Picks, Holes & Needs

There was plenty of disappointment around the Washington Wizards this season as the team finished 41-41 and missed the playoffs. There is a new coach in town with Scott Brooks and he brings a lot of experience to the table. There are some big decisions upcoming for the Wizards this summer including in the free agent market along with their own players and the June 23 NBA Draft. Here is a look at what could be a very busy offseason.

Bradley Beal, who averaged 17.4 points a game for Washington, is a restricted free agent. He has been John Wall’s running mate in the backcourt for a long time now. Will Beal return to Washington or will the Wizards use the money from Beal on someone else? The elephant in the room is Kevin Durant, who is a Washington native and is a free agent. Brooks was his coach in Oklahoma City as well and could have a major voice into whether or not Durant wants to sign with the Wizards or not.

The other problem is that the Wizards don’t have a single draft pick so they won’t be able to upgrade in that way. The team probably would love to keep Beal and sign Durant to give them a three-headed monster that would be very hard to beat in a weak Eastern Conference. There will be a lot to watch for out of the nation’s capital right away with trying to get a draft pick and then the Durant watch. Things are about to get very interesting.

A man told Univision, identified only as Miguel, that he was Omar Mateen’s gay lover. He claims that Omar Mateen was livid after discovering he had sex with an HIV-positive man.  The Hispanic gay man, who only identified himself as Miguel, says met Omar Mateen on Grindr before they became “friends with benefits”. They would go to meet 20 times at a hotel in Orlando, Florida. [lead image via Univision]

Miguel described Omar Mateen as a confused gay man and a heavy drinker. Miguel believes Mateen’s attack at Pulse nightclub’s Latin Night was an attempt at revenge. He says Mateen was angry after discovering that one of the two Puerto Rican gay men he’d had a threesome with was HIV-positive. Miguel said that despite tests coming up negative, Mateen feared not enough time had passed for an accurate result, and he wanted to “make them pay”.

Miguel says that their meetings were at Orlando’s Ambassador Hotel, meeting 15 to 20 times between October and December 2015. Univision contacted the Ambassador Hotel, which confirmed that Omar Mateen was a familiar face. They claimed that Mateen had stayed at the hotel at least 63 times last year.

Do You See A Lake In This Picture? Guess What. You’re Wrong.

This is just a regular ol’ picture of a mountain with a lake in front of it, right? Nope. Wrong. Yup, this is a another one of those bullsh*t optical illusions. Hopefully, it won’t have the same wildfire like affect that the stupid dress optical illusion did.

So what’s the illusion, or more importantly, what the hell are we looking at? Well, (30 For 30 voice), what if I told you that this wasn’t a lake, but actually a concrete wall? What if I told you that your mind just got f*cked?

Don’t see it yet? Okay, I’ll spare you.

Intense, right? I know. This is peak journalism right here.

You feel stupid yet? Good. You should.

An Anti-Aging Drug Has Just Been Approved For Human Trials, Proving The Future Is Now

0
0

Science! Gotta love science, man. I have zero clue how it works, but most people don’t, and it’s worked out for us so far. There’s a bunch of scientific mumbo-jumbo involved in this story, so I’ll try and put it in layman terms.

A new drug, or uh, compound, called nicotinamide mono nucleotide (science!), has been shown to slow down the aging process and extend the lifespans of mice. It’s always the mice. Anyway, the mice trials were such a success that the drug has been approved for human trials.

According to The Japan News:

A planned collaborative clinical trial devised by researchers from both Washington University in St. Louis and Keio University in Japan are set to test the effectiveness and safety of the compound. Starting next month, about 10 healthy people will be administered NMN to see if can improve bodily function and stave off the effects of aging. Should it work, it would become the first bona fide anti-aging intervention available on the market.

If it does pass human trials, this sounds like quite the investment. American women alone would be able to sustain this business. However unfortunately, scientists have good reason to believe it won’t. Reportedly, mice studies, particularly those involving aging, don’t translate well to humans. Yeah, no sh*t.

However, NMN could have a positive effect on human physiology. Even if the effects aren’t as dramatic on humans as they are on mice, this compound could still be used to boost human health.

So, we’ll see. If it does end up working, you can count me in as one of the initial investors.

This Jon Snow/Leeroy Jenkins Mashup Is Literally Perfect

Leeroy Jenkins is one of the first viral video’s I ever saw. About a decade old, the Leeroy Jenkins video has staying power that few other viral videos do. If you’ve never seen it, shame on you. The only way this Jon Snow video is funny is if you understand the context, so here is the context:

F*cking hilarious, I know, right? Anyway, so as you can tell, Jon Snow’s actions in “Battle Of The Bastards” was pretty similar. They had a decent plan of action, all to be thrown away because one idiot essentially says “Screw it. Let’s do this.”

Soooooo, now that you’ve got the context, check out this hilariously perfect mashup on Jon Snow and Leeroy Jenkins. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The city of Cleveland is ready explode, as they are having their first ever championship parade to celebrate after their first championship in over 50 years. The parade is scheduled to start at 11 AM EST in downtown Cleveland. The parade will start at East 6th Street with the majority of the route taking place on East 9th.

This is the first championship parade to ever be held in Cleveland, as the 1964 NFL Champion Browns did not have a parade. Mayor Frank Jackson told a local Cleveland news station before Game 7 that the city did not want to jinx the series by planning a parade. “We have seriously not talked about it. You know, this morning we had Mayor Voinovich’s funeral. Today we have this, so you know, in due time, we’ll talk about it, at the right time.” Classic Cleveland.

Cavaliers Parade Photos

The city of Cleveland will celebrate their first professional sports championship in 52 years at the Cleveland Cavaliers Championship parade today. If you didn’t think that the Cavaliers victory in Game 7 was a big deal for Cleveland, think about it this way: the city of Cleveland is allowing defendants scheduled to appear in court today the opportunity to skip court entirely.

The Cleveland Cavaliers championship parade will begin at 11 AM EST and will feature 60 floats, the Ohio State University marching band, and speeches from the players, the coaches, and the Mayor of Cleveland.

We’ve been covering championship parade photos here at COED for awhile, and without a doubt our favorite star has been Rob Gronkowski. But this year we have JR Smith. And while I’m not expecting him to shotgun beers with the ferocity of Gronk, I do believe he’ll pour more than enough champagne on some willing thots. I also think the amount of time that he has his shirt on is less than half the time he has it off.

Cavaliers Championship Parade 2016 Photos

The first photos to come from the parade are from Matthew Dellavadova’s snapchat. In addition to giving us a sneak preview of the Delly 1 shoes coming out soon, he also took a couple of snaps of him, his wife, and Timofey Mozgov heading to the beginning of the parade.

We also spotted Urban Meyer with the legend that is Jim Brown. He’ll be celebrating today for sure.

COED will be updating this post with more photos as they come, so stay tuned.

Elena Delle Donne: Hottest Photos On The Internet Of The WNBA MVP

elena delle donne hot

Elena Delle Donne might as well be an Amazon warrior. She’s tall, she’s athletic, and most of all, she’s beautiful. Gifted with both physical and athletic genes, Delle Donne is one of the most recognizable, and marketable, female athletes on the planet.

Delle Donne gained national recognition as a high school basketball star at Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, Delaware, where she led them to three straight Delaware State Championship titles. Coming out of high school, she was ranked as the number-one overall high school recruit. But she didn’t stop there. She received, and accepted, a scholarship offer from the University Of Connecticut. However, after only two days on campus, she would drop of of UCONN. She would eventually enroll at the University of Delaware, where she would rewrite the records books.

Following her college career, Delle Donne was selected second overall in the 2013 WNBA Draft by the Chicago Sky, a team that went 14–20 in the 2012 season. Donne scored 22 points in her debut against fellow rookie Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury. She led all players in votes for the 2013 WNBA All-Star Game, the first time a rookie has done so in league history. While I’m sure it had a lot to do with how amazing she is at basketball, I’m willing to bet a little bit of her popularity has to do with her looks.

Mike Pence: Full Story & Must-See Details Of Trump’s VP

mike pence

According to reports from the New York Post, Indiana Governor Mike Pence has been selected as Donald Trump’s running mate. He is a 57 year old Republican born in Columbus, Indiana.

An hour ago, his Facebook page asked followers to join his team. “We’re excited to have you onboard as we get to work growing Indiana and keeping our state and country on a path forward.”

According to VP, Donald Trump has selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence to be his running mate–he is expected to formally call Pence Thursday afternoon, reports CBS News’ Major Garrett, citing a GOP official close to the process.

Who is Mike Pence?

Mike Pence is the current Governor of Indiana. Pence was born in Columbus, Indiana, and is one of six children of Nancy Jane and Edward J. Pence, Jr. His family were Irish Catholic Democrats. He was named after his grandfather, Richard Michael Cawley, a Chicago bus driver who came to the USA through Ellis Island.

Pence graduated from Columbus North High School in 1977, and earned a Bachelor in History from Hanover College in 1981 and a J.D. from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1986. While at Hanover, Pence joined the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, where he eventually became president.

He was elected the 50th Governor of the State of Indiana in 2012 and inaugurated January 14, 2013. According to his official government biography:

Governor Mike Pence is a lifelong Hoosier with legal, small business and policy experience.  Governor Pence is dedicated to continuing Indiana on a pathway to success through fiscal responsibility, economic development and educational opportunity for every Hoosier child.

Since taking office in 2013, Pence has achieved the largest state tax cut in Indiana history while also lowering the business personal property tax and corporate income tax to strengthen the state’s competitive edge in attracting new investment and good-paying jobs for Hoosiers. He has expanded school choice, increased educational opportunity for Hoosier families by signing into law the first State funding for pre-K education in Indiana, and addressed Indiana’s skills gap by making career and technical education a priority in every Indiana high school. And, because roads mean jobs here in the Crossroads of America, under his leadership the state has invested more than $800 million in new money for roads and bridges in Indiana.

The Governor has worked with the Indiana General Assembly to craft an honestly balanced budget that maintains strong reserves for the State and continues to generate a surplus. This fiscal discipline has helped Indiana maintain its AAA credit rating and earn a global reputation as a great place to do business.

Governor Pence manages a State employee workforce of approximately 28,000 and a State budget of $30.6 billion. He oversees the duties of the executive branch as the state’s chief executive officer, recommends and reviews legislation with members of the Indiana General Assembly, and also serves as the commander-in-chief of the Indiana National Guard. Prior to being elected governor, Pence represented Indiana’s Sixth Congressional District in Congress.

First elected in 2000 and earning a sixth term in 2010, Pence brought his Hoosier sensibility to the table and quickly established a record of serving his constituents and championing fiscal responsibility, smaller government and economic growth—skills and values he has brought with him to state government.

Pence’s leadership and legislative accomplishments resulted in him being elected unanimously by his colleagues to serve as House Republican Conference Chairman and Chairman of the House Republican Study Committee. A strong supporter of the military, Pence has made a priority of reducing veteran unemployment and, while in Congress, he visited Hoosier soldiers in Iraq and/or Afghanistan every year since hostilities began.

Pence was born and raised in Columbus, Indiana, graduated from Columbus North High School, went on to graduate from Hanover College in 1981 and earned his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law in 1986. Governor Pence and First Lady Karen Pence have been married since 1985 and currently live in the Governor’s Residence. They have three adult children, Michael, Charlotte and Audrey.

Donald Trump has announced Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his vice-president and running mate, according to the website Roll Call. Sadly the website has crashed because of the huge news, but if it’s true, than somehow the news leaked before Donald Trump’s official announcement that was supposed to happen on Friday at 11 AM.

If you’re unfamiliar with Mike Pence, our guess is that a couple of you are, make sure to read the story below on more information on the man.

If you’re looking for something more than just an article or report, you can read into his Facebook page. An hour ago, TeamPence’s Facebook page posted a message to all his followers asking for their help.
