Euro 2016 schedule, euro 2016 groups

The UEFA Euro 2016 kicks off on Friday, June 10, at 2:30 PM with a match between host nation France and Romania. This will be the 15th edition of the UEFA European Championship. Spain are defending champions, having won in 2012 and 2008.

This year’s EURO will be the first time the European Championship final tournament will be contested by 24 teams, having been expanded from the 16-team format used since 1996. The group stage consists of six groups of four teams, followed by a knockout stage, which includes three rounds and the final.

The tournament kicks off with host nation France facing off against group opponent Romania. France is one of the biggest favorites in the tournament, so they should have no problem dispensing Romania. That being said, when it comes to international soccer tournaments, anything can happen.

Elysian Brewing Space Dust IPA Craft Beer Review

Lately I have been trying different craft beer styles trying to expand my pallet as well as yours. However, this weekend I am back to drinking my favorite style and am enjoying a new brew. This weekend Elysian Brewing’s Space Dust IPA is What’s on Tap

Brewing in the great beer state Washington (by the way the Northwest is very underrated when it comes to brewing) Elysian is known for their different styles as well as consistently solid beers. Space Dust IPA is no different; it is a tremendously well balanced beer between both the hoppy IPA notes and the malts used. Upfront I get some earthy notes, mostly piney flavors, and then the IPA citrus characteristics kick in: orange grapefruit, and others. Not only was I surprised that there was not more hoppiness to this brew but I was also surprised at the bitterness on the back end. Mainly I thought it was bitterer than the beer’s listed 73 IBU. But that certainly did not take away from m enjoyment.

This beer’s rather smooth, well hidden 8.2% ABV makes it the perfect “first beer” or first couple beers of the night. I plan on enjoying a few, and a few too many, as I am grilling and during happy hour. But because of the flavor profile one really cannot go wrong whenever they are drinking this brew.

Cheers!

Euro 2016 schedule

The UEFA Euro is the best soccer tournament in the world. With all due respect to the World Cup, players themselves have said the Euro is in fact more difficult to win. Due to the concentration of talent in the European nations, the UEFA Euro has been described as the most prestigious tournament in the world.

This year’s European Championship will be the largest ever, with a field of 24 teams set to compete in 51 matches over 31 days. The previous 14 European Championship tournaments have been won by nine different national teams: Germany and Spain each have won three titles, France has two titles, and Soviet Union, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Netherlands,Denmark and Greece have won one title each.

The UEFA European Championship is the primary association football competition contested by the senior men’s national teams of the members of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), determining the continental champion of Europe. Held every four years since 1960, in the even-numbered year between World Cup tournaments, it was originally called the UEFA European Nations Cup, changing to the current name in 1968.

Brock Lesnar is one of the top five scariest current human beings. The dude has been an amateur and professional wrestler, a football player, a UFC heavyweight Champion, and an NCAA Division 1 Heavyweight wrestling champion. He’s the definition of a beast.

He literally says he doesn’t remember TWO WHOLE YEARS of his life cause he was boozing and pill poppin’ too hard. He literally has wrestled someone on a plane, and he calls it “whiskey wrestling”. He literally says his best friends at one point were “vodka and Vicodin”. He literally says he used to beat the crap out of his older brother. He is literally an animal. And these literally aren’t even the highlights.

The highlight came when Papi asked him what the most romantic thing he’s ever done for his wife is. You’ll have to watch the video for yourself to believe it.

In case you were sitting on the fence between voting for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, perhaps the words of American citizen Don King can help you make a decision.

I mean, Don King is the kind of guy who goes around wearing American flag jean jackets and ties from Walmart. He’s clearly the kind of person who has his hands in other people’s money fingers on the pulse of America, right?

Oh wait, isn’t King the man who was sued by Muhammad Ali for fraud? Wait, you’re telling me that he took advantage of an ailing punch-drunk boxer, paying Muhammad Ali only $50K instead of the $1.1 million that he was owed?

Who else was it again that got involved in a fraud lawsuit where they were accused of taking people’s money? I think it was someone in the news recently. But obviously my memory is a little shot.

On second thought, if the words of Don King are what’s going to motivate you to vote for one candidate or the other, maybe it’s best you sit this election out.

Mónica González, or  Mónica Christine González Canales ) is a former  professional Mexican soccer player, who played both forward and defender. She is currently an announcer and sideline reporter for ESPN.

González played her college ball at University of Notre Dame from 1997-2001, missing the 1998 season due to a knee injury. At the beginning of her college career, in 1997 and 1999, she was a striker, however in 2000, she became a left outside defender. During her college career, she scored 17 goals and had 17 assists. In 2001, she was named second team All-American and second-team Academic All-American in 2001.

González was the eleventh player picked in the 2002 Women’s United Soccer Association draft, being chosen by the Boston Breakers. She played with Boston as a defender in 2002 and 2003 and was named to the WUSA All-Star team in 2003. In 2009, González signed a contract to play with the Chicago Red Eleven in the USL Women’s League.

González was a member of Mexico’s team at the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which was the first appearance the Mexican Women’s National team made an appearance in the World Cup. She was captain of the Mexico team from 2003 to 2007.

Two days after she was cut from the Mexico National Team, González was hired by ESPN as a studio analyst for the 2011 Women’s World Cup.

Athletic, talented, smart, and hot, Mónica González is genuinely the full package.

According to her biography on Fox Sports:

After graduating with a broadcast journalism degree from Boston University in 2010, Taft worked for the public relations firm IDPR in New York City. Spending a year with the company, she then moved back to her native Minneapolis, accepting her first position with FOX as a FOX Sports Girl for the Twin Cities-based regional network, FOX Sports North. In that role, she appeared in on-air promos, in-game segments, made appearances at events, participated in community relations and produced digital content. She also served as a social media reporter during both Minnesota Wild and University of Minnesota men’s hockey games, developing interactive content for fans online. She will also have a significant part in the coverage of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup™ in Vancouver, a role she prepared for by traveling with and covering the U.S. Women’s National Team during the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Championship. In 2014, she made her college football debut, appearing as a sideline reporter as part of FOX Sports 1’s Pac-12 game coverage.

France vs. Romania: Score, Results & Live Updates from Euro 2016 Opening Game

$

Hey sports fans. Today Euro 2016 begins so get pumped! France and Romania kick it off in Paris at 3:00 eastern time on ESPN2 and I’ll be your guide to everything that goes down. So let’s watch some great soccer (football?), laugh at the petulant French players, and pretend like we can locate Romania on a map.

First Half

1′: France kicks off, Matuidi gets an early shot on goal and we are under way!

4′: Romania nearly find the back of the net from a corner but Hugo Lloris somehow makes a goal-line save at the far post.

7′: Romania are decisive underdogs but they’ve been feisty in the early going.

10′: Olivier Giroud misses just wide on a header for France. We get a reminder that Karim Benzema is not there because he blackmailed a teammate with a sex tape. Soccer is the best.

14′: Frenchman Antoine Griezmann pings a header off the post. Still no score, though lots of excitement in the first quarter hour.

18′: Paul Pogba is the coolest man alive.

20′: Here’s video of Romania’s only chance so far, which took place in the fourth minute.

28′: The great mystery of this game so far is why Romania is abbreviated “ROU”.  The world may never know why. Let’s move on.

30′: Romanian Mihai Pintili gets a chorus of boos from the French fans after getting knocked on his ass and possibly injured. No mercy!

37′: Payet crossed one in on the ground from the right to Griezzman at the near post and the forward shot it just wide. Still no score.

41′:

45′: Romania captain Vlad Chirches kicks Giroud in the face, gets a yellow card to match his bright yellow shirt

45 +2′: Olivier Giroud heads misses another great opportunity, heading a Payet corner over the bar

HALFTIME: 0-0

France were pegged by many as the tournament favorites but so far they’ve been unable to find a breakthrough against Romania.

Second half:

46′: No halftime subs for either side. Let’s see if either side can break the stalemate.

48′: Romanian Stancu gets in at net with a perfectly timed run but slices off-balance volley wide.

56′: Paul Pogba smashes a volley from the top of the box but the keeper makes a vital save.

58′: FRANCE GOAL! 1-0 France. Olivier Giroud leaps above the keeper to head in a Dimitri Payet cross to grab the lead for Les Bleus.

63′: I knew after I posted that Men In Blazers tweet mocking Giroud that he would definitely find the back of the net. France is starting to find their groove here in the second half.

64′ Penalty for Romania: Stanciu taken down in the box by Patrice Evra.

65: Romania GOAL! 1-1. Stancu slots one in low from the penalty spot as Hugo Lloris lunges the wrong way.

68′: A collective groan booms throughout Stade de France after Giroud is yanked down in the box by a Romanian defender. After the Romania equalizer, the French fans are getting testy.

72′: Romania make the first subsitution of the match, bringing on Alexander Chipciu for Nicolae Stanciu. I am happy about this change because it means it means I will no longer have to distinguish Stanciu and Stancu.

77′: France bring on 20 year-old Manchester United striker Anthony Martial for Paul Pogba with the hope that the young stud can provide a late winner.

81′: Martial gets a shot on goal from the top of the box but Romania’s keeper makes a comfortable save. A goal at this point would be extremely dramatic.

88′: It’s such a pleasure to listen to Ian Darke call matches.

89′: FRANCE GOAL! 2-1 France. Dmitri Payet blasts a thunderbolt into the upper 90 from outside the box.

90’+2: Payet had been the best player on the pitch all night, and the goal was just the cherry on top. He’s substituted off for Sissoko as France closes in on victory.

Full time: France 2- Romania 1

Wow! That was amazing! Sure we want the United States team to do well in the Copa America, but the Euro is next level. One Euro game down, 40 to go.

Sideline Reporter Axed For Making Insensitive Remarks

$
0
0

You’d expect a sideline reporter would have enough sense to hold back from making racist and anti-Semitic comments on camera, but apparently not when it comes to Fox Sports Florida’s Emily Austen. Predictably, the Orlando Magic and Tampa Bay Rays sideline reporter was fired quickly after she made a series of distasteful comments on a Barstool Sports live Facebook show. The show was quickly taken down from the Barstool Sports page, but its remnants remain on the internet and, unfortunately for Austen, the damage has been done.

The offensive comments included:

  • Saying she “didn’t even know Mexicans were that smart” about a Mexican valedictorian who revealed herself to be an undocumented immigrant. Yikes.
  • Attempting to rationalize the Mexican comment by talking about how “the Chinese guy is always the smartest guy in math class.” Not cool.
  • Telling a story about how stingy the Jews were when she worked as a waitress in Boca. That’s messed up.
  • Calling Kevin Love a little bitch several times. Ok, that one might not be completely off-base.

As always happens in situations like this, legions of the internet are shouting “FIRST AMENDMENT!” But as is always the case, Austen had a right to say what she did but that doesn’t mean Fox Sports Florida didn’t have the right to can her. Perhaps none of the comments in isolation would have been enough to get her fired, but saying all of the above in one interview just shows horrendous judgment. Austen is way too fond of stereotypes and, though it is silly to correlate hair color with intelligence, seems only to be reaffirming the prominent stereotype that blondes are dumb.

The murderer then killed himself after being restrained by Christina’s brother. Christina was 22 years old. [photo: Kevin Winter/Getty]

The star from The Voice — who finished in third place during Season 6 in 2014 — was rushed to a hospital, but died a few hours later. Orlando police spokeswoman Wanda Ford said, “Her brother is a hero for saving and stopping him from not hurting anyone else.”

Online tributes have been pouring in…

The name of the killer hasn’t been announced. “We don’t know if he was just a crazy fan that followed her on Twitter or on social media,” said Ford. Here she is during the start of her tragically short-lived stardom…

NBA Finals: Jimmy Kimmel Catches Baby Steph & Baby LeBron [VIDEO]

Jimmy Kimmel is being kept busy by ABC during the NBA finals — and he even had to host a Jimmy Kimmel Live! show on Friday. Fortunately, the late-night host has been kind of inspired by this year’s b-ball battle, as seen with his big scoop from last night’s monologue.

Jimmy presented exclusive TMZ Sports video of Steph Curry and LeBron James getting caught out at a nightclub taking a break from court tensions — with the usual Kimmel twist of making them into babies.

Check out the video because it’s pretty funny. Also appreciate how this is kind of a risk for Kimmel. We still remember when he had to do a groveling interview with Kanye West after portraying the rap megalomaniac as an infant.

We can figure Steph and LeBron will be more casual about this kind of thing. We think one little girl’s parents are in for some side-eye, though…

‘Sporting News’ Lists The ‘Most Hated College Football Players Of All Time’

johnny manziel hated college players

Sporting News released a fine article called “The 16 Most Hated College Football Players Of All Time” — and the only reason that it didn’t get lots of attention and outrage is that there are very few lies detected in the site’s fine roundup. That doesn’t mean that they made easy choices, though. [photo: Bob Levey: Getty]

Take a look at the list and see a few WTF moments — but then click through for a pretty good case being made across the board. It’s actually kind of cool that the site left a lot to be debated..

Brian Bosworth (Oklahoma)
Jameis Winston (FSU)
Cam Newton (Auburn)
Johnny Manziel (Texas A&M)
Tim Tebow (Florida)
Tony Mandarich (Michigan State)
Michael Irvin (Miami — Fla.)
Deion Sanders (FSU)
Matt Leinart (USC)
Todd Marinovich (USC)
Maurice Clarett (Ohio State)
Peter Warrick (FSU)
Kellen Winslow Jr. (Miami — Fla.)
AJ McCarron (Alabama)
Terrelle Pryor (Ohio State)
LeGarrette Blount (Oregon)

The article also has a pretty good collection of players ranking Honorable Mentions: Manti Te’o (Notre Dame); Vinny Testaverde (Miami); Steve Taneyhill (South Carolina); Andy Katzenmoyer (Ohio State).

Plus there are even more Special Mentions: Jimmy Clausen (Notre Dame); Lawrence Phillips, (Nebraska); Warren Sapp (Miami, Fla.); Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska).

So check them all out, and think about how amazing it is that they even left out a few real creeps. They have to have something ready for 20 Worst Players for 2020 — but we think there’ll be four more candidates coming out of colleges by then, too.

England Fans Stir Up Violence In Marseille Because, Well, They’re England Fans

A swarm of England fans clashed with about 60 riot police in Marseille in the lead-up to England’s Euro opener today. The belligerent fans were wreaking havoc outside the city’s bars and hotels, fighting with Russian fans and French locals. The latest eruption today follows two nights of similar clashes in the French city. Six English were arrested and at least five were injured in the altercation.

While it is unclear why the England fans were stirring up this violence, we can only suspect that it was a combination of them being plastered and them being England fans. While English hooliganism isn’t as prominent as used to be, a lost empire, 50 years of an underachieving national team, and having Piers Morgan from your country would grate on anybody. The England fans were, according to the BBC, hurling bottles at the Riot Police who responded by using tear gas.

(Getty)

(Getty)

Tempers flared between the English and Russians in the streets ahead of England and Russia’s clash on the pitch today. With French law enforcement on high alert for terrorist threats, the last thing they probably want to deal with right now is a bunch of drunken fools causing a ruckus. With England approaching the vote on a referendum to leave the European Union, the fans were reportedly chanting “Fuck off Europe, we’re all voting out,” as well as “Sit down if you hate the French.”

If the English fans riot like this before the tournament even starts, we can only hope they’ve gotten it out of their systems by the time the Three Lions are inevitably knocked out of the Euro in embarrassing fashion. You can watch England vs. Russia today at 3 pm EST on ESPN to see if the England players have as much fight in in them as their compatriots do.

It’s not hard to imagine why, as she is an absolute dime.

Her biggest claim to fame is for being a Page 3 girl in The Sun, and was the winner of the newspaper’s annual Page 3 Idol competition in 2006.

Cooke has spent time as a house and dance DJ (lol, who hasn’t?) and has played sets in clubs around the world, including Egypt, Malaysia and Ibiza. She also worked extensively with the UK dance label Hed Kandi.

Other than that, there isn’t much information on her. But if you were looking for information about Sam Cooke, you wouldn’t be here, would you? You’re here for her pictures. So, here you go.

2015 iHeartRadio Music Festival - Night 1 - Show

The psycho who gunned down pop princess Christina Grimmie at her merchandise table has been identified as Kevin James Loibl — who looks just about as creepy as you’d expect of a guy who staked the third-place winner in Season 6 of The Voice[photo: Kevin Winter/Getty]

The photo released is from a mug shot of an earlier arrest. Loibl fatally shot himself after Christina’s brother Marcu restrained him after he strolled up to the pop star while carrying two guns and a knife.

In addition to releasing the name of the murderer, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said that the 27- year-old gunman (believed to be from St. Petersburg, Fla.) had seemingly traveled to Orlando’s Plaza Live Theater with the intention of killing her.

Authorities are currently going through Loible’s cell phone and computer to learn more about his motives. We bet that’s going to be a disturbing search. Meanwhile, here’s video of Christina’s final performance. Yes, the backdrop says “Before You Exit” — that being the band who was touring with Christina. A lot of people are finding deep meaning in that. We’re sure Loibl would agree, and probably mention the Illuminati…

Local Rapper Threatens Trump On Instagram, Gets Busted For Stolen Guns

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Donald Trump, but that doesn’t mean it’s wise to threaten him in an online video. Because the authorities and Secret Service don’t mess around about that kind of thing. Baton Rouge rapper Maine Muzik, whose music video I watched and let’s just say he’s not the next Tupac, is in hot water after putting a video online threatening the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. “I really want to go to war with Donald Trump because Donald Trump is trying to take food stamps from my momma and that’s all the f**k  she got,” Maine Musik, whose legal name is Demarcus Davis says on the video. “Let Donald Trump know it’s up over here. We want war; we’re going to declare war.” He also makes an incoherent reference to ISIS toward the end.

Where this story really gets interesting is as the May 22nd video threatening Trump made it’s way around the internet, former Sons of Guns reality TV star Joe Meaux came across a video called “Rapper Threatens Trump”.  The gun shop owner noticed that in a clip taken from a video Davis posted May 15th, with Davis and several others waving guns, that those guns were ones stolen from his gun shop last July. Meaux told Fox News that he was able to decipher the guns because they were distinctively customized. Davis, 22, was arrested in Baton Rouge on June 3rd and booked on several weapons charges and a drug charge. I don’t know what the rapper thought the upside was of posting videos online making threats and featuring stolen guns,  but I think it’s fair to say he didn’t fully think it through. Folks, I can’t say it enough; if you’re going to post videos where you’re brandishing guns, make sure those guns are legally registered.

Some people consider ‘Citizen Kane’ the greatest film of all time, others say it’s ‘The Godfather’. But those people are all wrong. ‘Step Brothers’, the 2008 comedy starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, is far and away the best movie ever made. One smart man proved he has some sense when he got tattoos of Dale (Reilly) and Brennan (Ferrell)  on each of his butt cheeks. Ferrell is on the left cheek with the word “boats” under, and Reilly on the right with “hoes” underneath. This brave soul exemplified s0me true courage getting this epic tattoo and in the process became an absolute hero to us all.

John C. Reilly was on Conan O’Brien discussing the unidentified man’s tattoo and joked that, “the only thing that comes between me and Will these days is the usual s**t.” Reilly seemed to think the tattooed guy, and other overzealous John C. Reilly fans, might be taking their fandom just a bit too far but I beg to differ. If you’re like me you just wish you had gotten this tattoo first. This mystery man needs to reveal himself so all of us mere mortals can bow down.

orlando florida gay nightclub shooting

Police believe that “approximately” 20 people were slaughtered in at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Fla. after a psycho — believed to be an Islamic terrorist — entered the venue. In addition to carrying an assault rifle and a handgun into Pulse, the murderer was also believed to be wearing a suicide vest.

The shooter began firing in the club around 2 am at the club. A SWAT team went into Pulse at 5 am— with close to 30 more patrons still alive inside — and the suspected murderer died amongst more gunfire.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina revealed that 42 more Pulse victims had been taken to local hospitals. The FBI is also present, with a spokesman saying the agency considered “this to an act of terrorism.” The shooter has been only identified as a man in his 20s from somewhere other than Orlando.

As with the Paris shootings by Islamic terrorists, messages were sent from terrified victims within the nightclub…

The killings are part of an insanely bloody weekend for the popular tourist site as the summer season starts, with pop singer Christina Grimmie murdered in front of fans by a crazed stalker on Friday night after a concert.
