Hottest Softball Players in the Women’s College World Series 2016

Softball World Series

The Women’s College World Series features some of the best softball players in the world, that’s something you probably could figure out for yourself. But what you might not know is that in addition to being able to swing for the fences and throw frozen ropes, a lot of the college players are very attractive.

One of the things that I loved about softball players at my college was the fact these were the girls who were down to rage. Not like the women’s lacrosse team. Obviously these things change from school to school and program to program, but the in the offseason the softball team got down. So there’s always a soft spot in my heart because of that.

The Women’s College World Series will run all weekend until Wednesday, June 8th on ESPN and ESPN 2.

Here are 38 different reasons to watch.

This Woman Wrote An Extremely Racist Thing On Facebook, Guess What Happened

Racist Facebook Post

Christine McMullen Lindgren used to work for Bank of America in their Atlanta brance, but now she’s unemployed thanks to an extremely stupid mistake she made on Facebook. And by “stupid mistake” of course we mean an extremely racist and hateful rant she wrote for everyone to see. I mean, who in their right mind would think this is a good decision to post on social media?

No one, that’s who. Read the insane rant below:

“I hate Facebook for this reason you f***ing n****rs. And yes, if [you] can call each that well I can too.

F***ing n****r go back to Africa. Get over your pity party. You created this hatred and your own kind that brought your great-great-parents [sic] over here and sold them.

Do something with your lives and your children’s lives. I’m sure you don’t work, collect welfare and teach hatred.

Your poor children. All five of them you can’t afford because I pay for them.”

Christine McMullen Facebook

Within minutes of her status update (although I don’t see how that’s really a “status”), someone reported her to her Bank of America employees. An investigation was subsequently made, and she was then fired.

You may not remember this, but a couple of years ago BoA had to pay $2.2 million to 1,147 black jobseekers who were discriminated against. So if there was ever a company to fire someone for being racist (as ridiculous as that might sound in today’s 100% PC world), it would be Bank of America.

Christine’s since deleted her Facebook page entirely, but I’m actually curious whether or not she was the one who actually wrote that on her Facebook wall or if she was hacked. It’s extremely difficult for me to believe that someone would be that moronic to openly post hate speech on Facebook.

Or maybe I’m the moron.

What Is The Spongegar Meme And Why Is It So Damn Funny?

Memes are produced these days like clockwork. They blow up out of no where, give us a couple laughs, then fade back into the eternal blackness that is the internet. This week was no different, as this week saw the birth of the Spongebar meme.

What is it? Well, let’s begin with it’s origin. On December 31st, 1999, a primitive version of Spongebob Squarepants depicted with long canines and wearing a loincloth, was introduced in the episode “SB-129″. In this episode, Squidward Tentacles travels back in time to the pre-historic era. Then, on March 5th, 2004, a prehistoric ancestor of Squarepants named SpongeGar was introduced in the episode “Ugh” .

Now, seemingly out of nowhere, the Spongegar meme has become one of the biggest on the internet. There are Twitter and Instagram pages dedicated specifically to Spongegar memes.

Funny High School Quotes 2016

Funny high school yearbook quotes are all the rage these days, but the sad truth is that usually most of the students who think that they’re funny are not. But for some reason or another, 2016 was different. Maybe it’s the fact that they grew up on viral humor, or that their generation simply lacks a filter–but I actually laughed out loud at some of these entries.

Kids today are just so damned honest. And while I’m not sure that’ll help them land a job after they graduate, it sure as hell will keep us entertained.

Strokes Past Present Future

The Strokes released Future Past Present, a new EP today. Obviously a four track EP isn’t as great as a full-length album but we’ll take new material from one of this decade’s best rock bands any time. The Strokes will be one of the headliners at Governor’s Ball this weekend, so those of you party animals headed there will probably get to hear the new stuff in person.

Early reviews of Future Past Present are somewhat lukewarm, but fans of the band should be happy that the group is still together after almost ten years of making music. That being said, here’s how StereoGum classifies the timing of this release.

There’s something philosophically irritating about Future Present Past arriving before the band headlines a pair of festival dates. It scans as disingenuous, as “Well, we have to do something.”

2. OBLIVIOUS

3. Threat of Joy

Donny Everett, a pitcher for the Vanderbilt University Commodores, drowned while fishing yesterday afternoon. Officials found his body in Coffee County Lake on Thursday afternoon, but just identified his body to the public this morning. According to witnesses, Donny had entered the lake in an attempt to swim from one side to the other, but wasn’t able to make it. More on that below.

Commodores Director of Athletic David Williams wrote this in a statement today:

“We learned last night of the tragic death of Donny Everett, an outstanding young man who exemplified the best of our university. As you can imagine, the team, the athletic department and the university are trying to come to terms with this tragedy. His parents and loved ones are on our minds and in our prayers as we share in their grief.”

First and foremost, our hearts go out to Donny’s family, friends and teammates. His future was amazingly bright, and had been predicted as one of the top MLB draft prospects in the country.

The news must be especially difficult to those who were with him when he drowned.

No word yet on whether or not the Vanderbilt Commodores will play Xavier in tonight’s game scheduled for 7 PM.

Donny Everett Lead

Today we learned the upsetting news that Donny Everett, a rising sophomore at Vanderbilt University and pitcher for the Vanderbilt Commodores, drowned yesterday afternoon while he was fishing. Multiple members of the Vanderbilt team, the SEC, and even the NCAA have offered their condolences to Donny’s family and friends.

Who Was He?

Donny was a well-liked student athlete for the Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team. He’s a Clarksville, Tennessee native who was also considered one of the top MLB prospects.

The right-handed freshman was going to be an integral part of Vanderbilt’s run to the College World Series.

What Happened?

Coffee County Lake

Coffee County Lake

As if the death of a young man with a bright future wasn’t bad enough, the circumstances surrounding his death sound particularly awful. From the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department:

“Everett, a baseball player at Vanderbilt University had come to Normandy Lake to fish with 2 teammates and 2 other people. According to all four individuals Everett was on the west side of the bridge with one of his friends when he entered the water and attempted to swim across to the east. They stated that Everett got about halfway across the waterway when he began asking for help. All four individuals stated that they thought Everett was “just joking around” because he was smiling and did not seem to be in distress.

One person did enter the water and pulled Everett several feet but stated that he is not a good swimmer and was struggling to stay afloat. He stated that Everett did not seem to be struggling. The friend stated that he let go of Everett and swam back to shore still thinking Everett was “joking”. He stated that when he looked back, Everett had gone under and did not re-surface. [source]”

I think it goes without saying that these young men should not be too hard on themselves for Donny’s death, but I don’t think that will help them very much moving forward. More than likely Thursday afternoon is a day these four friends will be dealing with for the rest of their lives. That’s the kind of situation I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemies.

But again, kids love to joke around about all sorts of things–it’s not unheard of that a fun-loving guy like Donny would horse around like this. So we’re just hoping this story doesn’t get any worse and that these four get some therapy and counseling as quickly as possible.

Response To Donny’s Death

As you can imagine, there’s been an outpouring of support for the Everett family and for his friends.

Here’s the official statement from Vanderbilt director of athletics David Williams:

“We learned last night of the tragic death of Donny Everett, an outstanding young man who exemplified the best of our university. As you can imagine, the team, the athletic department and the university are trying to come to terms with this tragedy. His parents and loved ones are on our minds and in our prayers as we share in their grief.”

WATCH: NBA Version Of Mean Tweets Is Straight Ruthless

Jimmy Kimmel is maybe low-key the best late night talk show host. Fallon is a ass kissing teacher’s pet, Colbert is just straight vanilla, and Conan is essentially an alien. Kimmel on the other hand is outright funny, rude, and he thinks outside the box. These factors led to the creation of his uber-viral segment “Mean Tweets”, where celebrities and athletes read supposedly real mean tweets about themselves (even though everyone knows the tweets are written by Kimmel’s writing staff).

Since Kimmel and the NBA finals are both on ABC, it was only natural that they crossbreed the two. What results is one of the best Mean Tweet segments they’ve ever done. I mean, come on, that Blake Griffin joke? Legendary.

It is the first single off the upcoming Cruel Winter compilation album from G.O.O.D. Music. The track, which debuted on Big Boy in the Morning, features an all-star array of guests on the track, including 2 Chainz, Migos’ Quavo, Big Sean, Travis Scott, Desiigner, Yo Gotti and the freshly sprung Gucci Mane.

While a release date for Cruel Winter has yet to be revealed, West admitted that the “Champions” track will undergo more mixing before its official release. He also said that Cruel Winter will feature a 15-minute version of Desiigner’s “Panda” that includes a verse from every rapper on the G.O.O.D. roster. Yeah, that sounds f*cking awesome.

Alexander Rossi Indy 500 Interview

Winning the Indy 500 is probably one of the more exhausting experiences as far as athletic achievements go, but as 2016 Indy 500 Champion Alexander Rossi found out first-hand, there’s still no rest once you cross the finish line. We caught up with Alexander the night after the Indy 500 at an exclusive champagne toast here in New York City and he looked absolutely depleted. Having said that, we’re guessing Alex would welcome losing a week’s worth of sleep to guarantee another victory at the Indy 500.

We asked Alexander about whether or not he had any “oh sh*t moments” during the race, how he likes to prepare for the races, and the big difference between him and racer Conor Daly.

Alledgedly, OJ Simpson Will Finally Be Admit To Being A Murderer When Released From Prison

$

According to Daily Mail, O.J. Simpson is in ‘total torment’ and will one day admit to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.  The former football superstar will supposedly tell the world what happened back in 1995 once he is released from prison.

Simpson, now 68, was acquitted of murder charges in the death of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her lover Ron Goldman back in 1995.

Ronn Shipp, who has known OJ Simpson for decades, said of the potential admission:

The guy is in total torment today. Someone told me he is 300 pounds and he looks horrible. O.J. has always felt his appearance meant everything and now, deep down inside, he is starting to live with himself. I hope one day he actually will rid us of all the doubt and all the conspiracy theories and say ‘sorry I cannot go to prison (because of double jeopardy laws), but I am sorry I did it’

Simpson has been locked up since since 2008. He was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, and charged with numerous felonies, including armed robbery and kidnapping. He was (finally!) convicted and sentenced to 33 years’ imprisonment, with a minimum of nine years without parole, and is currently serving his sentence at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Lovelock, Nevada. However, it is being reported that OJ may be released within the next year, which is when he will (allegedly) fess up to those infamous murders.

Honestly, the fact that OJ is still in the news is a disgrace. I think we can all agree we can’t wait for him to vanish from this earth.

I don’t know if you heard, but the Drake vocals are in.

We haven’t been able to find a stream to embed, but for now you can head over to Hot New Hiphop to check out the track.

“For Free” premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show. The track features production from Nineteen85 and Jordan Ullman. Nineteen85 is the one of the producers behind Drake’s “Hotline Bling”. When asked about the track, DJ Khaled said “Every hustler gonna sing word for word. Every female gonna sing word for word.” Classic Khaled.

Maybe the biggest revelation from Khaled’s interview today is that he is seriously considering Snapchatting the birth of his first child. CLASSIC-ER KHALED.

Harpoon Brewery’s Camp Wannamango Is What’s on Tap

Harpoon Camp Wannamango

Welcome to summer! Easily the best craft beer drinking time of year. Actually, any time of year is great drinking weather but warm nights, day drinking, and having something on a grill kinda makes everything better. This weekend I am drinking a beer from summertime staple brewery; this weekend Harpoon Brewery’s Camp Wannamango is What’s on Tap!

Debuting in March as Harpoon’s new summer beer, the last kind was a Kolsch-style ale, Camp has some of the same characteristics but leans more on the Pale Ale side. Brewed with mangos, even Harpoon is jumping on the fruit beer train, Camp maintains its Pale Ale core with a nice subtle hoppiness to it throughout the sip. There is not a whole lot of bitterness due to the malts used in the brewing process and what I like best is that the mango is on the beer’s finish. Typically beers brewed with fruit are frontend heavy with the citrus and hops / malt on the backend but, for me the mango is the finishing characteristic; very nice.

If you are looking for a new summer beer that has a little citrus and some hops to it, look no further, Harpoon has a winner with this new release. This is a perfect hot summer beer and is perfect when grilling fish, my suggestion would be blackened Mahi. But, regardless of what you are eating, or drinking, summer is here and the time is right!

Cheers!

The 2016 French Open Men’s Finals match between Novak Djokovic (1) and Andy Murray (2) is going to be must-watch tennis at Roland Garros this Sunday morning. Unlike most of the other French Open matches which were only available on Tennis TV–the Men’s Finals will be broadcast on NBC.

So why should you watch? Because it’s two of the best players in the world playing at the top of their game. But there’s also some interesting story lines as well. Andy Murray has just reached his first French Open Finals and Djoker will be looking to get over the hump of losing three straight French Open Finals in a row.

Regardless of the outcome, it’s going to be an incredible ending to a somewhat eventful Grand Slam. We’ll be up early, possibly drinking mimosas and drowsily watching the game. You should join us.

I Just Finished My First Week Of Adulthood And WTF Where Did My Life Go And What Do I Do Now?!

$
0
0

You ever wake up in the morning and ask yourself, “Where the hell did the last 23 years go?” Yeah, me too. It happened this week. I just finished the first week of my career, and well, I haven’t quite been able to decide how I feel about it.

I’m excited, I think? I’m excited about never having to step foot in a classroom again. I was never a good student, and quite frankly, never wanted to be. Our intelligence goes far beyond showing up to class for attendance and cramming knowledge into our minds that we’ll forget in one week’s time.  I always wonder how much better I’d be at my craft if I had spent the last decade practicing instead of learning outdated information that society required me to learn.

I’m excited about finally being able to pursue and perfect my passion, and being paid to do so. I’m excited to be a young twenty something in a big city. My mom always told me the best years of her life were when she was living on her own in Manhattan after college. I’m excited to maybe get a dog, and learn how to cook something other than chicken parmesan and tacos.

But, I’m nervous.  I’m definitely f*cking nervous. I’m nervous that the future will become a vicious cycle of monotony.  I’m nervous the future will not live up to the heights of my past. I’m nervous that I’m hurdling towards the rest of my life far faster than I expected.

One of the most important people in my universe texted me the other day, saying they were having a midlife crisis. First, I said that I hope that it’s only a quarter-life crisis, given we’re only 23 years old. Then, I asked them what’s wrong. They responded: “I’m coming to realize that you work to die.”

The notion that we work just to die taps into most of our deepest fear: the potential complacency that the future holds. Work, gym, shower, dinner, sleep, repeat. Work, gym, shower, dinner, sleep, repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Fall in love. Squeeze out a couple of kids. Retire. Then wait to die.

But what does one do when they find themselves face to face with the dark unknown that is the future, the rest of your life? Do you go around it, cross your fingers, politely ask it to cooperate? Do you run and hide in the past that you miss so much? No, actually, you do neither of those things. You look the future right in the face, beat the everliving sh*t out of it, tie a leash on it, and say “You’re coming with me. You’re mine now.” The only way to conquer change is to embrace it.

I’ve only been an “adult” for about a week, but I’ve learned quite a lot in these mere 7 days. I’ve realized that just because I’ve started paying my own bills, doesn’t mean I can’t still waste money. Just because I can afford filet mignon, doesn’t mean I still can’t live off of microwave pizza and the chicken parmesan I’ve spent a lifetime perfecting. Just because you have to be a professional 40 hours a week, doesn’t mean you can’t spend the other 128 hours of the week being the immature asshole you were when you were 13. The point is, it doesn’t matter how old you are: it never did. I know 17 year olds who act like graduate students, and medical students who act like infantile children. Just because your adult life begins, doesn’t mean the fun ends. Life is supposed to ascend, but it’s up to you to make sure it does.

There’s a quote by C.S. Lewis that I came across a couple of years ago, and it stuck with me. I think it applies to not just this moment in my life, but all of our lives:

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back, everything is different.”

It’s a fine quote, however, I’d tell C.S. Lewis I have a solution to this problem:

Never look back, because the potential of the future is far greater than whatever the past could possibly have to offer.

Never look back.

Some believe the 2016 French Open Women’s Final match between Serena Williams (1) and Garbine Muguruza (4) this Saturday might as well have already taken place. But not us. As powerful and dominant as Serena might be, she’s certainly not perfect. That showed when Garbine beat Serena back in the French Open Round of 64 back in 2014. That’s why you should wake up a little early this Saturday morning, flip to NBC, and watch the French Open Final.

Despite her defeat to Garbine in 2014, Serena is easily favored in the match–both by oddsmakers and by tennis fans. With a win at the Roland-Garros, Serena would tie HOF player Steffie Graf with 22 Grand Slam tournament wins.

The 22-year-old Garbine would be looking for her first Grand Slam title ever. And although playing against an opponent like Serena in the Finals is a completely different animal than surprising her in the Round of 64, we think she’ll be ready for the challenge.

Mark Cuban Net Worth 2016: How Much is Cuban Worth Right Now?

Mark Cuban Net Worth Now

Mark Cuban is the guy we all wish we could be. A self-made entrepreneur who cashed in huge during the tech bubble of the late 90’s, Cuban has become one of the world’s most revered super rich guys. As the brash owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and a heavyweight investor on ABC’s Shark Tank, Cuban keeps on living out our dreams. But how much is Cuban really worth? Way more than the rest of his fellow sharks… combined.

Mark Cuban’s Net Worth as of 2016: $3.2 billion

Mark Cuban has been in the public consciousness since he purchased the Mavericks in 2000. He quickly became notorious for his temperamental presence at courtside and his propensity for criticizing the NBA’s officiating. But before he could afford the Dallas franchise for $285 million, Cuban made a killing by selling his company Broadcast.com to Yahoo! for $5.7 billion in Yahoo! stock at the height of the dot com boom. Since then, he has only gotten richer by investing in an array of businesses, and has established himself as one of the world’s most admired tech moguls. Recently, Cuban has drawn headlines by criticizing Donald Trump and questioning whether the presumptive Republican presidential candidate is actually a billionaire. So while Cuban might disagree with the perception that Trump (who is worth an estimated $4.7 billion but claims to be worth much more) is richer than him, the reality is that Cuban is still absolutely loaded with a net worth of $3.2 billion. Let’s take a closer look at how the outspoken business icon (Mark Cuban, not Trump) has built up his fortune through the years.

1995 – 1999

Dallas Mavericks v Chicago Bulls
In 1995, Cuban started a company called Audionet with a buddy from Indiana University. By 1998, that company became Broadcast.com which was a pioneer company for live-streaming events. After going public during the tech stock craze, Broadcast.com was acquired in 1999 by Yahoo! for $5.7 billion, still the largest acquisition in Yahoo!’s history. At the age of 41, the Pittsburgh native became a billionaire, making his fortune just before the tech bubble burst at the turn of the century.

 2000–2011

After cashing in on his tech company, Cuban sought to diversify his portfolio by investing in a variety of different companies. Most famously, in 2000 he purchased the Dallas Mavericks, who were one of the worst teams in the league at that point. Cuban, with his cocksure persona, has turned the Mavericks into one of the league’s most successful teams, making the playoffs every full season except for one since he has been at the helm. In 2011, the Mavericks, led by a bonkers Dirk Nowitzki playoff run, won the NBA championship.

Cuban also made several other notable business moves in this time period. In 2001, he launched HDNet, the first fully high-definition channel; it has since been re-branded AXS TV. In 2003 he bought Landmark Theatres, an art-house film theater chain, and Magnolia Pictures, which distributes independent and foreign films.

2012–2016

President Obama Honors Emerging Entrepreneurs At The White House

Cuban further raised his profile by joining the regular cast of ABC’s Shark Tank in 2012. He has so far bought a stake in 85 companies on the show, investing nearly $20 million. Amidst speculation that he would be tabbed as either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump’s running mate, Cuban said on Meet the Press in May that he’s open to running with either. But for now he’ll just stay focused on what he does best; making absurd amounts of money. The Mavericks, which he purchased for $285 million, are now worth an estimated $1.4 billion. Cuban, you are the man.
