Adam Levine, University of Miami Student, Died At Ultra

Adam Levine University of Miami

Adam C Levine, a 21-year-old student at the University of Miami, died of seizure complications while attending Ultra Music Festival. The political science major was at Ultra on Friday night when he seized up. Adam died at the hospital.

On Sunday night, Ultra Music Festival security chief Ray Martinez released a statement:

“It is our understanding that Adam Levine, one of our patrons, was here on Friday night. … We can tell you that our security personnel noticed he was having difficultiies and immediately called Miami Fire Rescue to get him medical attention. … Unfortunately he passed away at the hospital.” Martinez commented further that he had personally broken the news to Adam’s family.

Reaction To Adam’s Death

The University of Miami posted on its Facebook page on Sunday night to confirm Adam’s death, and to send out their support to Adam and his family. “It is with sadness that I share with you the loss of senior Adam Levine. Please keep his family in your thoughts.”

Predictably, people have been mourning Adam’s death on Twitter and Facebook–commenting that he was an amazing person, friend, and student who was heavily involved on campus. He was a fraternity brother at Alpha Epsilon Pi.

Our hearts go out to Adam, his family, and anyone who may have known him.

History of Death at Ultra Music Festival

We have no idea as to the medical history of Adam or what caused him to seize up, but the sad truth is that for all the glitz and glam of Ultra Music Festival, there’s been a dark cloud surrounding the event.

Alex’s death now makes three out of four years that someone has died (or sustained fatal injuries) at Ultra Music Festival. Clearly something needs to change from the organizational side, but attendees must also realize the consequences their actions can have on their health.

Donald Trump Protester Gets a Lotttt of Attention After Instagram Photo Goes Viral

If you attend a Donald Trump rally, you can expect a few protestors to show up and at least one sucker punch to the face to be documented. What you don’t typically see is a topless woman slamming Trump then making her way to a Bernie Sanders rally in support – still topless. But alas, that’s exactly what Anni Ma did yesterday. And she’s getting a ton of attention for it on Instagram.

The Free The Nipple advocate gave rally attendees an eyeful when she attended a Sanders event in Phoenix with “STOP FACISM” painted on her bare back and “HATE SPEECH IS NOT FREE SPEECH” painted between her pasties:

Earlier that day, Ma had tried to get into a Trump rally in Fountain Hills, Arizona. The event was delayed by other protesters and she wasn’t able to gain access, so she headed to Phoenix. Naturally, attendees were all pretty excited to see her.

At least it’s not Courtney Stodden.

For more photos of the event, check out Anni’s Instagram, where she manages to free the nip and denounce Donald Trump every chance she gets.

College Student Uses 3D Printer To Print His Own Braces, Wins At Life

3D printer braces

Metro

A digital design major from New Jersey has been straightening his teeth for the past 16 weeks, using clear braces he made himself with a 3D printer.

Talk about playing doctor.

Amos Dudley had braces when he was in junior high, but failed to wear his retainer enough, and his teeth shifted. Dudley realized that he “wasn’t smiling as much because he wasn’t happy with the way his teeth looked.”

“They weren’t awful, but they were crooked enough to make me self conscious,” he writes on his blog.

But he wasn’t about to drop $8,000 for clear braces from companies like Invisalign, Damon, and ClearCorrect. The 23-year-old wanted to save money, so he found a way to manufacture his own for less than $60.

The total cost is so low because he only had to pay for materials used to make the models of his teeth and the retainers. Even though he built his own 3D printer at home, he opted to use a high-end and more precise 3D printer at his school, New Jersey Institute of Technology.

He used NJIT’s equipment to scan and print models of his teeth, and mold non-toxic plastic around them to form the set of 12 clear braces.

Dudley determined how far he needed to move his teeth to correct the misalignment problems. Then divided it by the maximum recommended distance a tooth should travel to determine the design for each alignment tray. Orthodontists use a similar process.

Researching the materials he needed and figuring out how teeth move was the most difficult part of Dudley’s orthodontic adventure.

Sure sounds like he knows what he’s doing. Dudley is already getting requests to print braces for other people. But he turned them down, he’s no orthodontist, after all.

Moral of the story: wear your retainers.

News Anchor Flashing

YouTube

Viewers of a live news report in Arlington, Virginia got an eyeful recently when a flasher walked behind a news anchor and lifted her shirt directly in front of the camera. Now, we’re all used to weird sh*t happening on the news, but the timing of this particular event is what makes it pure gold.

A hot blonde news correspondent begins talking about a streaker who terrorized Virginians with a flailing appendage no one wanted to see, when she introduces this poor slop of a dude to talk more about it. But right when she asks if everyone is keeping their clothes on so far, the flasher strikes:

This chick deserves an award. Not only is the timing absolutely perfect, but the corespondent is so flustered and awkward that we could only imagine how awful things went from here. Kudos to this girl – wherever you are. You’re a legend.

Facebook Messenger isn’t just a chatting software, it’s a gaming app in disguise. Is it to celebrate March Madness? Who knows. And at this point, we don’t even care – we just want to play virtual basketball on our phones.

However, to unlock this hidden feature, one must prove oneself worthy (as Thor would say).

Here’s how you do it:

  1. Make sure you’re running the latest version of Facebook Messenger.
  2. Send a basketball emoji to a friend
  3. Voila!

Tapping on that basketball will launch a secret mini-game, challenging you to see how many baskets you can sink in a row.

This will sure to turn a lackluster conversation into a combative test of will, endurance, and finger-tapping skills.

Last month, a hidden chess game was found in Facebook’s chat service. It was discovered, no doubt, through binge pressing emojis.

Daisy Tackett: Kansas Student’s Press Conference

Daisy Tackett Kansas University

Daisy Tackett, a former rower at Kansas University, has accused a former KU football player of raping her sixteen months ago. According to a lawsuit that Daisy and her family have filed against KU, they allege that “the University failed to protect her from harassment by her attacker.”

Normally rape victims names are withheld from publishing, in order to protect the victims, but Daisy has come forward and asked that her name be used.

Daisy’s family is holding press conference that is scheduled for today. Although she won’t be appearing, she did prepare this statement.

“I reported my rape because I thought other KU students were at risk. I did not know that KU would treat me the way it did. I did not feel sfe after my report. My coaches did not care. I felt like I did every single thing KU asked of me, and I feel that they did not hold up their end of the bargain. KU did not protect me. And I was not able to be a student or an athlete there.

I hope the KU community understands why I had to do this. KU cannot be allowed to operate under the status quo. Kansas has a rich history of standing up for what is right. It’s why we are Jayhawks. This is my contribution to that proud tradition and I hope Kansas and Jayhawks will stand with me.”

University of Arizona Kid Creates Alcohol Scholarship, Winner Gets Free Booze For a Year

Alcohol Scholarship

Jack Flynn is the man. The University of Arizona student recently announced on Twitter that he was going to start a prestigious alcohol scholarship, and people came running. The lucky winner would get a year of free alcohol on Flynn’s tab if they wrote an essay convincing him why they should win the coveted award.

According to Total Frat Move, he’s just paying it forward.

The reason I did this, was I had a good friend of mine do it for me last year.. So this year, I got a good amount of money in scholarships from UA that left an extra 5 figures in my pocket, so o figured I’d give back and keep the thing going for another student!

I just posted it on my Twitter letting people know about it and saying that I required an essay. Got a good chunk of essays from a bunch of schools. ASU to UCLA to UF.

F*cking admirable. If there’s one thing booze can do, it’s bring people together – literally and figuratively. Here’s how it went down:

That final tweet really got the message of this service across. Here were some of the entries:

Not very impressive. But then, a true hero came along: Matt DeBiaso.

His extensive expertise and utmost passion shines through his lengthy essay, and he deserves all of the vodka bottles that will flood his dorm room. Plus he’s starting an all-alcohol diet, meaning he’s dedicated and a health nut. Give him all of the awards. GIVE THEM TO HIM.

Studying Abroad

Shutterstock

PICTURE THIS: five years down the road, you’re slaving away in a cubicle. The only thing you remember about college isn’t Calculus 101, it’s that semester abroad in Amsterdam. Where the food in grocery stores is disturbingly cheap, and high-end hookers beckoned you with a “you know you want it” sensuality. Maybe you were that guy who went to the red light district and “just looked.” Still, aside from getting high and Spring Break, studying abroad was the only thing you actually remember about college. Well, maybe not the study part.

We’ve compiled 11 of the BEST PLACES TO STUDY ABROAD in 2016.

WARNING: You’ll never want to come home after this.

Take a look.

Gold Coast, Australia

Shutterstock

Shutterstock

With 35 miles of coastline and insane nightclubs, Gold Coast is literally “famous for fun.” Throw in a couple of pretty good universities and that’s why this city in south east Queensland tops the list of best cities to study abroad. Whether you want to cuddle with a kangaroo or swim with the sharks, this is the place to be. But careful, they bite.

“It was easy to live on a student’s budget in the Gold Coast. The easy access to public transportation pretty much anywhere in the Gold Coast made traveling around very cheap. Also, once you took the bus or tram 9 times that week, all other trips were free!!” said a student from University of Pittsburgh on Abroad101.

Beijing, China

If “clean air” and “lots of space” are what you’re after, then Beijing isn’t for you. But if you are looking for a culture shock that’s going to zap you stupid, then this is it. Try eating live shrimp that are being killed slowly by alcohol. Yum. With 3,000 years of history under its feet, the city boasts an impressive number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, seven to be exact, and is even within short distance travel from the Great Wall of China. Don’t forget the hole-in-the-wall restaurants in hutongs serving pork skewers seasoned with mysterious spices.

Did I mention the girls in San Li Tun all look like super models?

Heredia, Costa Rica

costa rica study abroad

Shutterstock

Costa Rica’s version of a college town, Heredia has both international and local students alike, who bring a unique personality to town. If you want to get out, day or night, an affordable, quick and safe 40-minute bus ride brings students to San Jose, the nearby capital and cultural center of Costa Rica. “I gained a greater appreciation for love and family from being immersed in such a close knit and loving culture.” said Meghan from Western Kentucky University.

Of if you’re into jungle adventure – Tarzan style, this is where you sign up.

Istanbul, Turkey

istanbul study abroad

Shutterstock

French writer Alphonse de Lamartine once said: “If one had but a single glance to give the world, one should gaze on Istanbul.” Istanbul is the intersection of Europe and Asia. This confluence of culture makes it a ridiculously interesting place to be. When you get tired from eating lamb kebabs and time traveling between Byzantium, Constantinople, and modern day Istanbul, hop in for a Turkish bath where a scantily-clad stranger will scrub and massage your body while you’re lying in a steamy room on a bed of marble.

Hmm… comfy.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

chiang mai study abroad

Shutterstock

Thai food is popular worldwide, so why not go to the source! Exchange students always rave about the cuisine in Thailand. You can barter over fresh foods at the daily market and learn to cook pad thai. It’s their way of mixing sweet, salty, sour and bitter tastes which balance together to give that distinctive taste of Thailand. “Man oh man, Thai food is scrumptious, and it was so fun to roam the street vendors looking for food,” said Jaiden from Western Washington University.

Florence, Italy

florence study abroad

Shutterstock

Why do we go to Italy? Is it so we can stop being a nation of uncultured slobs?

To study and live in Florence is to walk the streets of Dante, Brunelleschi, Giotto and Leonardo Da Vinci. But let’s be real, most people just go for the food. Florence is the heart of Tuscany, and Tuscan food is known to be simple and abundant with local produce, mellow cheeses and grilled meats and especially white beans as the staple.

PRO TIP: learning to cook Italian IN Italy will score you points with the ladies.

“The food does not get better than Italy!” said Dylan on Abroad101, hailing from The University of Texas at Austin.

Dublin, Ireland

dublin study abroad

Shutterstock

If binge drinking on home turf isn’t quite enough for you, then Dublin is your spot.

“Night life is phenomenal, and the country is small enough to have every significant sight within a short bus ride at most, ” said Stephen from University of Minnesota.

Greater Dublin is home to one third of the Irish population and Cultural heart of the “Emerald Isle”. Dublin has more green spaces per square kilometer than any other European capital – the better to keep you covered on the walks of shame.

Just don’t come back as that guy who refuses to drink Guinness in America, because “it’s soooooo much better when you actually have it in Ireland.”

Rabat, Morocco

morocco study abroad

Shutterstock

Camel ride on the Sahara desert? Check. Chicken tagine at the roadside cafe? Check. Moroccan whisky without the alcohol? What the f*ck is that? Morocco is a wonderful destination where your money goes so much further than Europe. You’ll have to work for your discounts so learn a little Arabic and dress like the locals and you may even come home with money in your pocket. “Morocco is very cheap. Everything from food to transportation to entertainment is insanely inexpensive,” said Richard from American University.

Seoul, South Korea

For a ‘Seoulful’ study abroad experience, look no further than South Korea, as opportunities abound in the gleaming global mega-city of Seoul. Hosting the country’s most prestigious universities, boasting over 100 museums, and featuring one of the world’s most advanced transportation infrastructures, a semester spent studying in swanky Seoul is sure to give you an edge in this global economy.

Cape Town, South Africa

South Africa study abroad

Cape Town is one of those places you never knew was so awesome until you went. And we’re not talking about the African penguins. This marvelously unique city is a cultural melting pot, with a diverse and vibrant population influenced by Zulu, Xhosa, and other African tribes, as well as Dutch, British, German, French, and Indonesian settlers.

“Although I spent a significant amount of money, I was able to accomplish ten times as many activities and experiences than I would have in any other country. Everything is significantly cheaper in South Africa, food especially, and is certainly a country to consider if you are on a budget,” said Karen from Brandeis University.

Tel-Aviv, Israel

tel aviv study abroad

Shutterstock

Greater Tel-Aviv is a world-class academic hub and a popular destination for international students. Four universities and a dozen colleges offer a wide range of programs all taught in English. Lonely Planet ranked Tel-Aviv as number 3 in the hottest destinations for 2011, thanks to its bustling nightlife, lively art scene, and 14-kilometer beach. One out of three residents in the city is between the ages of 18 and 35, making it a perfect location for your study abroad.

Time to have that epic adventure. Because if not in college, then when else?

Now get off your ass and get a passport.

As far as best places to go on Spring Break in 2016, South Padre Island was probably one of the better choices you could make. Not only did the police allow as much drinking and fun as they had in previous years, things somehow seemed like they got turned up a notch. You had people like Ke$ha, Lil Dicky, and even Young Thug turn out for the month-long party.

As you may or may not know, South Padre Island is one of the few places in America where drinking on the beach is completely legal. Other than glass bottles, everything else is allowed. That includes kegs, plastic handles, beer bongs, whatever.

Three George Mason University Students Arrested After Authorities Find Bomb-Making Materials in Dorm

George Mason University Bomb

George Mason University

Three students from Virginia’s George Mason University were arrested last week after authorities found bomb-making materials in their dormitory.

According to a FOX affiliate, there was no immediate threat to the campus and all evidence has been collected by police to further investigate. Court documents say that campus police raided Room 105 at Jefferson Hall at around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday after flames were reportedly shooting out of the student’s dorm window — AKA a dead giveaway that you have sketchy sh*t harbored away in your dorm room.

Court documents state when police confronted the residents in the room, they found a leafy green substance. When they returned with a search warrant, police discovered a tool box containing match books, shaved match heads, a mortar and pedestal, lighter fluid, hand sanitizer candles and a PVC pipe.

The bomb squad later stated that the materials were being used to make explosives.

“It’s surprising to me that no one else on the floor knew about it, and if they did, they didn’t say anything about it,” said student Sydney Cono. “Explosive are very, very harmful, but at least the police caught it before something bad could have potentially happened.”

Two students were arrested on drug and alcohol-related charges while the third suspect was charged with possession of bomb-making materials.

The school has yes to address the situation and people are pissed:

So why did it take so long for news to break? Was the school trying to deal with it internally without causing a stir among students and parents? And is that reason enough to keep things quiet?

Hopefully they address the incident sooner rather than later.

Spring Breaker On South Padre Island Declared Missing

Justin Kirby Walker South Padre Island

Facebook

Justin Kirby Walker, an 18-year old from Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, has been missing on South Padre Island since Saturday morning.

Justin was last seen at the Ultimate Music Festival (UME) on South Padre wearing a navy blue tribal shirt from Zumiez, dark shorts, Nike Janoski shoes, and a black hat with the word Primitive written in red writing. His car is still parked inside Isla Blanca Park near the tents where he and his friends were camping.

Justin has fair skin, is reportedly 5’9″, has brown hair and green eyes, does not have tattoos and weighs about 175 lbs.

If you have any information on Justin’s whereabouts give a call to the Cameron County Park Police Department at 956-761-5283.

Justin’s Disappearance

Justin Walker arrived at UME with his friends but upon entering they separated somewhere on their way out.

“He got separated from his best friend during the concert while they were walking away to go sit down and rest for while. They were going through a big crowd of people. [His friend said] he turned around and Justin was gone, just like that,” said Walker’s parents.

“His friends went back to where they were staying, but he never showed up,” said Cameron County Parks Police Chief Horacio Zamora. “Right now, we’re looking at the possibility that he may have entered a marshy area next to the event.”

According to Chief Zamora, Cameron’s disappearance was first called in on Saturday by Justin’s mother.

The Search For Justin

Ultimate Music Festival Map

Police believe Justin could have gone into the marshes (green on the left), from the Music Festival held at Schlitterbahn Water Park (middle right)

As mentioned before, the police believe there’s a good chance that Justin could have disappeared into a marsh near Ultimate Music Festival. “Maybe he thought it was a shortcut and walked in there and we’re trying to eliminate that fact,” said Chief Horacia Zamora.

The good news is that the SPI Police Department recently purchased a couple of drones that can assist with the search. The bad news is that if police are right, those marshes are the same place that 20-year-old Jordan Britten died last year at UME.

Justin was last seen wearing a navy blue tribal shirt from Zumiez, dark shorts, Nike Janoski shoes, and a black hat with the word Primitive written in red writing. Police are worried he may have walked through the marshes after being separated from his friends.

Emily Ratajkowski has come a long way since Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” music video.

Since dancing around without clothes on and puckering up to the famous pop star, Ratajkowski has snagged countless fashion ads, magazine covers, and walked numerous runways. In her latest ad she’s getting back to her “Blurred Lines” roots, ditching her clothes, and advertising the product the best way possible: with nothing but her gorgeous body.

In the new Spring 2016 collection for jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche, Ratajkowski strips down for a series of hot photos that vary from hand bras to underwear. It’s quite the wakeup call. And late night treat. And afternoon delight… you get it.

Twitter Money

We all want more money, regardless of whether or not we need it (note: we need it). And if you’re a lazy SOB, you probably want that money without having to do a lot of work. We don’t blame you — we feel the same way. But unlike all of those times we tried the pyramid schemes while sitting on our couch, there’s now a legitimate way to make this possible: Webfluential.

The new website gives tweeters a rough estimate of how much their 140-character rants are worth through a financial calculator.

Webfluential Tweets Money
According to The Daily Mail, the site can show how much money a user could theoretically earn per tweet as a social influencer.

The South Africa-based company recruits people with a healthy Twitter following, analyses their audience demographics and lets these influencers accept jobs and earn money from their tweets.

The calculator works by using geo-targeting and algorithms to estimate the worth of each tweet within 10 seconds, to show users whether they might make a good influencer.

The company told MailOnline: ‘The calculator looks at competitive pricing for display ads in each location, and then on a similar costing linked to the reach the influencer has and the likely impressions of the tweet – a costing guideline is given from there.

‘The costing estimate is largely based on reach, but once registered as a Webfluential influencer an estimate can be given based on reach, relevance and resonance.’

All you have to do is enter your Twitter handle and out comes your billions… sort of. Here’s a few we tried:

Ok so goals: get a following like Bieber without being a tool and you’re pretty much set for life. Get tweeting.
