“Brie Larson is about to be the biggest star in Hollywood,” says ELLE magazine. The 26-year-old starlet who played Ma – the kidnapped mother held in captivity for years in the movie Room – is the hottest contender for Best Actress of Oscars’ Class of 2016.

Alongside some gorgeous photos, the actress also bared it all in the interview. Not physically – emotionally. “I was home-schooled and always felt extremely alone,” she said. “I always felt like reality was a bizarre place and everybody was really good at being normal and I didn’t know how to do it. It seemed like everybody was so happy and I wasn’t. And I was so afraid I was unlovable. Through film I realized that was a safe place for me to play. It was a safe place for me to express myself and explore these things that I was afraid to explore in my real life. Through doing it, every time I did I found I would connect with people. When you share your vulnerability someone else comes back and say, ‘Oh, I know that. I hold that too.’ For me it’s been a way of trying to connect with the world and bring the world together.”

Chipotle

Getting a text from an unknown number is normal. Getting 0ver 300 texts from 300 unknown numbers in the course of a single day—all of them saying the same thing—is not.

What sounds like the opening to a horror film actually happened to Henry Levine, a Bethesda-area lawyer on Monday, Feb. 8. In an effort to win back customers after its e coli-scare, Chipotle hosted a free burrito giveaway. In order to apply, people simply had to text the word “RAINCHECK” to 888-222. The problem? Some people sent this vaguely ominous text to the wrong 888-222. Enter Levine, a D.C. lawyer.

What he thinks happened—he told dcist—is that some phones automatically added his 240 area code to the number Chipotle provided. The result: Levine received a flood of messages from people in his area looking for a free burrito. It was a simple case of “wrong number” that went more wrong than most.

When Levine told Chipotle what was going on, he says they apologized to him for the inconvenience.

“They indicated that I was not the only one,” he told dcist, which means that there are more people whose Monday was a bit different than usual. Levine offered to send screenshots of the texts to the company so the senders could still get the coupon, but Chipotle declined.

Levine did get five free burrito coupons out of the whole thing, so this story has sort of a happy ended.

Thankfully for TXST students and bloggers alike, the guys over at TFM discovered that Monika returned to her old antics yesterday! And this time she covered herself in Chik-Fil-A waffle fries, ketchup with a sign (on her crotch) that reads “All You Can Eat.”

So what did the Texast State students do? They ate of course! Can’t just let that food sit there for hours while that poor girl was covered in ketchup.

We know that most artists tend to exist on a tight budget, but Monika gets bonus points for not skimping on the quality of either ketchup or fries.

One University of Kentucky basketball fan who attended the Georgia vs. UK game last night was treated to more than just a win, there’s a good chance she’ll be able to get a raise out of it too. Twitter released their new timeline algorithm today which aims to put some of the “top tweets” ahead of the rest of your chronological tweets. As is the case with most changes, people are unhappy. The news prompted people to start the hashtag #RIPTwitter, complaining that the new algorithm would ruin the social media site.

Well the changes rolled out today on February 10th, and last we checked the site is still standing…

It’s true that not everyone has been affected by the new algorithm, but the good news is that there’s a way to check. Even better news is that it’s easy to opt-out of the changes if you’d like to. Learn how to change the Twitter timeline settings below so that you can opt-out of “Show me the best Tweets first.”

Change Twitter Timeline on Desktop

Click your profile icon on the top right of your screen, then head to the “settings” menu. From there, click  “Account” and then “Content.” We don’t have it on our account yet, but Mashable reports that the “new feature will be under “Timeline;” to turn it off, tick the box next to “Show me the best Tweets first.”

Change Twitter Timeline On Android Devices

To change your Timeline algorithm on your Android device, open the app and tap the three dot icon. From there, you should find the settings button. Click it. If you see a Timeline option, then you should unclick the box that reads “Show me the best tweets first.” If you don’t see it, then you don’t have to worry about it.

Open Twitter. First tap the gear icon, then “Settings.” From there, head to your “Timeline” settings and then untick the box that reads “Show me the best Tweets first.”

Of course, if we’re getting technical Nicola isn’t really in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Yes, yes, she’s within the pages–but she’s not IN it. Furthermore, she’s not actually the oldest person to be in the SI Swimsuit Issue. That honor goes to Christie Brinkley who at the age of 64 appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Legends Issue. But Christie wasn’t wearing a swimsuit (although we’re guessing she’s more than capable of doing so) and Nicola is.

Both the Xbox One and PS4 have exclusive downloadable games that are good enough to make people who own the other system, but the week’s biggest release — Unravel — is available on both platforms. Klaus, which has nothing to do with St. Nick, is a dark mystery on the PS4, and Oxenfree, a coming-of-age tale about teenage friends who deal with the supernatural, is Xbox One-only.

Like many of his game protagonist brethren, Klaus is conveniently stricken with amnesia at the start of his tale, unaware of who he is or why he’s stuck in a basement. He gets to work, moving boxes and shifting the background to climb his way out of his predicament. As you work your way through each level, the backstory begins to unfold via background clues, filling you in on the grim circumstances behind Klaus’s predicament.

The Super Nintendo-style graphics are an apt fit for the platforming and old-school style stage-and-boss structure. Physics-twisting elements — which force you to manipulate gravity and magnetism to solve the puzzles and advance — stay lively and unpredictable. As you make your way through, you unlock collectibles that serve as symbols for what Klaus went through in his pre-amnesia life, and frequent story twists keep redefining what you’ve learned. Although the puzzle-based nature of the game robs it of replayability — once you know how to solve everything there’s not much challenge — Klaus is an engrossing journey the first time around.

Oxenfree

(Xbox One, $20, Teen)

A compelling mix of horror and teen coming-of-age film, the sterling indie Oxenfree dives into the drama and insecurities of youth, exploring them in ways games rarely can manage. The story follows a group of friends who accidentally open a portal to the spirit world. You play as Alex, who brings his new stepbrother to an overnight rager that goes south quickly. As much visual novel as game, much of the gameplay comes in dialogue you select and people you align yourself with. In the backdrop, social cares melt away as life and death starts to hang in the balance.

The branching story changes depending on the choices you make. Small, seemingly insignificant moves — such as saying something supportive to an acquaintance — can alter the story in major ways. The scope of the plot broadens and the stakes only rise as you play on, and the unmerciful auto save makes you live with the tough choices and often disappointing outcomes that result. As cool as the supernatural elements are, Oxenfree is at its best when it focuses on the relationships between the kids, who are just as much lost souls as the spirits they contend with.

Unravel

(Xbox One, PS4, $20, Everyone)

Art styles that render worlds in craft items are starting to become so common that they lose their charm and whimsy, and have become as much a part of the norm as your standard ice and lava level tropes. Unravel, which stars a character named Yarny who tosses out strands of thread like Spider-Man, is the latest game to take on the gimmick. Tight controls, inventive level design and varied challenges help Unravel stand out from the pack of Yoshi’s Woolly World, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Paper Mario, LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway.

Swinging, dangling and grappling through the whimsical worlds is a joy. Since many obstacles have multiple ways to use your thread to overcome them, your creativity and quick thinking often make the difference between moving on and having to restart. The tone and visuals make Unravel seem to be aimed at children, but the level of challenge can give most any experienced gamer a hard time. Unravel is a smooth, kinetic experience that gets better as it rolls on, and is a pleasant surprise for the early part of the new year.

If you’ve ever wondered if size actually mattered, rest assured, we have an answer: it does. And to be clear, this comes from science, not personal opinion.

According to researchers from University of New Mexico and the University of California, women want a certain size depending on what they’re getting out of you – AKA, one and done kind of situation or a lasting relationship.

According to Mirror, the study was pretty straightforward. 75 California women ranging in age from 18 to 65 were shown 3D models of erect dongs and were asked to choose their favorite… uh… model.

Each was shown 33 penis models – consisting of a cylinder, representing the shaft, topped by a dome, representing the penis head.

These ranged in size from 4.0 inches to 8.5 inches in length and 2.5 inches to 7.0 inches in circumference

The researchers then asked them to choose their favourite for a long-term relationship, and for a one-night stan

Just to get a better idea of what these suckers looked like, here’s an incredibly helpful infographic:

When it came to long-term relationships, women preferred 6.3 inches, with a girth of 4.8 inches. For a solid one night stand, they went bigger: length of 6.4 inches and a girth of 5.0 inches.

“Women preferred a larger penis size (especially a larger circumference) for one-time partners as compared to long-term partners,” the researchers wrote in their report. “While this preference for a larger phallus is above the average penis size, it is only very slightly above the average.”

Needless to say, preferences exceeded the size of the average male, but that’s ok! Love is deeper than the size of your d*ck… or so we’ve heard.

Former University of Tennessee football player Drae Bowles was allegedly assaulted by his fellow teammates in 2014 after helping a woman who claimed she was raped by two volunteer players. Along with five other unnamed female victims, Bowles is now suing the university.

According to court documents, Bowles took the woman to a hospital the night of the rape and voiced support of her decision to alert authorities. According to The Tennessean, Bowles’ teammates caught wind of the situation and were pretty angry about it.

While the woman, a student-athlete, was meeting with executive senior associate athletics director Jon Gilbert, senior associate athletics director Mike Ward and her coach, she received a message from her roommate “who was witnessing at that moment several football players jumping” Bowles, the lawsuit says. The woman informed the athletics officials of the incident and was told they would “look into it,” according to the suit. The lawsuit says “athletic coaches were present during that altercation.”

Several days later, Bowles was allegedly assaulted a second time by the same players at the team facility. The woman he helped heard about it and reported it to university administrators.

Bill Ramsey, the school’s general council, was questioned on the incident and gave an interesting response: “The university has certain rules we have to play by, and we can’t really talk about particular students at all.”

Bowles has since transferred schools and now attends UT-Chattanooga. The transfer happened just several months after Bowles also heard that there was an alleged hit out for him.

According to the lawsuit, then-Tennessee defensive back Geraldo Orta told police that he put “a hit” out on Bowles because he “betrayed the team.” According to Orta, “people got shot for doing what Bowles did.”

Orta now denies the claims.

“I’ve never put a hit on someone in my life! And that is a fact. People will lie just to save themselves. I can say back in college I wasn’t the best of men and my environment on how I grew up can show that. Being in a boys’ home most of my life can take a toll on you, but I don’t let that dictate who I am. I’m a better man looking to be success in life and as a person.”

A St. John’s University student here in New York City tweeted out a photo of fellow female student with a Donald Trump sticker on her computer with the caption “7000 retweets and I’ll smash this b*tches computer.”

As you can see, that tweet isn’t just still up, it’s currently sitting at 18,000 RTs. And before we continue, let’s just point out that the woman’s laptop is apparently still intact. But because @OckIsDead’s (Clifford Durant–a name he openly uses on Twitter) tweet did actually go viral, it took absolutely no time at all for his threat to be reported to St. John’s. Thankfully we’ve got people like @TheNordicNation protecting us all.

Call me crazy, but I don’t really think a student attending St. John’s is going to assault a woman during lunchtime for her laptop. But whatever.

Similarly, it also took no time for him to start getting death threats from racists who don’t even live in the North East, let alone go to Saint John’s University. I’m not going to pretend to know the whole story but from what we can tell, the girl left the room, came back, and found out about the tweet.

That’s when things get a little unclear. Some of @Ock’s friends claim that she threw a full cup of coffee in his face or something. Here’s what The Daily News wrote about the incident (via a “student” who is probably/definitely the woman’s friend).

A short time later the two ran into one another in a hallway and a fight broke out over the picture, according to students.

“She asked him to take down the post and he said “make me,” one student told the Daily News.

The tweeter, who uses the name OCK PAPI on the site, then punched the woman in the chest, according to the student.

Friends of the picture poster reported that the woman tossed a cup of coffee at him during the heated exchange.

Update: Clifford says the NY Daily News is lying.

Truthfully the whole story is ugly. The original tweet. The threat. The response. His responses to the racism. All of it. But I guess that’s where we are today in one of the most diverse cities in one of the most diverse colleges.

Update: Cliff was brought into campus security but was released.

I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been waiting for this movie for what feels like a lifetime (3 years), and now we’re a mere six weeks away and I can’t contain myself. I mean, just look at how hard Batman is Batmaning.

As COED’s resident comicbook expert, I have so many opinions about this trailer it’s easiest if I break them down in bullet point format

-Batman looks and fights better than any Batman we’ve seen on film to date.

-“I’m getting slow in my old age Alfred”. Yeah… right.

-Gal Gadot is intoxicating as Wonder Woman. Bruce Wayne is quite obviously trying to get it in.

-Superman treating the Batmobile like its a Hot Wheels toy is a fantastic establishing image of how large the power gap is between the two.

-Darkseid is coming. I’ve known this for quite some time (he is the most logical choice), but Darkseid of Apokolips will be the villain in the upcoming Justice League movie.

-I’m now about 99.9% sure that Batman gets his hand on some Kyrptonite, and it’s probably with the help of Lex Luthor. By the look on Superman’s face in the final shot, he has absolutely no idea what the hell is happening to him.

-The only thing that worries me about this movie is that it is introducing too much, too soon. I hope I’m wrong.

-This movie will either be a masterpiece, or a train wreck. I can’t imagine it being anywhere in the middle.

The University of Oklahoma‘s Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity is in trouble today after a Snapchat photo depicting a brother in white robes was sent to members of African American student organization, who then demanded answers from their school.

The answer they got was probably one that they were expecting, but not ready to believe: there was no racial motivation behind the photo or robe at all.

According to both OU officials and Alpha Sigma Phi officials, the fraternity held an initiation ceremony over the weekend which is where the Snapchat was taken. For our readers who never joined a fraternity, it’s commonplace for fraternities to use robes such as this (albeit in different colors) as part of the ceremony (which is extremely boring) that initiates pledges into brothers.

The mood at OU has been extremely fragile since last year’s SAE racist chant, so while the fraternity could have made smarter decisions in terms of robe colors the biggest problem we see is that people are taking photos of the rituals in the first place.

Here is a statement from Matt Mullins, the founding president for Alpha Sigma Phi at Oklahoma University, which restarted the OU chapter after nearly 20 years:

Alpha Sigma Phi is excited to be a member of the University of Oklahoma community. In that spirit, we want to be honest and forthcoming on the actions of one of our members. This weekend, our brotherhood conducted the Alpha Sigma Phi Initiation Ceremony to welcome new members into our brotherhood.

After the ceremony, the marshal took a photo, wearing his ritual paraphernalia as outlined in our ritual book. The robes our officers and members wear are for both public and private ceremonies and can be seen as we conduct the many rituals of Alpha Sigma Phi, including our New Member Ceremony this spring, which we invite the campus community to join us. Our robes are varied in colors, including black, red, white, blue, purple and blue; each with meaning to our organization. The picture, without context, is troubling, which is why we wanted to explain to the community what happened. Our chapter is proud of the diversity in our group, and we apologize to anyone in the community who is upset by this picture.
