So, the juggernaut that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is finally starting to show signs of slowing down. This past weekend, for the first time since it was released, it was not the number one movie at the box office. None the less, the Star Wars franchise chugs on, demolishing everything in it’s path.

Part of the reason the latest installment to the franchise has been such a success is because of how favorably it compares to the prequel trilogy. Let’s just say fans weren’t too thrilled by episodes 1, 2, and 3. However, a video making the rounds on the internet the last couple of days (already 5 million views in less than a week) is supposedly making even the most avid of Star Wars fans reconsider their opinions of the prequel trilogy. It’s even bringing some fans to literal tears.

For the Star Wars neophytes out there, this video is an edit of Obi Wan from the original trilogy detailing Anakin Skywalker’s death to his son, Luke. Edited in between are events from the prequel series that Obi Wan is referencing. What’s truly amazing about this scene is that the actor who played Obi Wan, the great Sir Alec Guinness, doesn’t even know exactly what happened to Anakin (as the prequels were obviously made decades after the original) yet the amount of regret and guilt he expresses on his face are astounding.

Honestly, as an average dude whose pretty neutral on the whole Star Wars phenomena, even I found this video moving. At the very least, it is an opportunity to appreciate some legendary acting.

Universal Pictures has released the trailer for Kevin Hart’s latest comedy stand up movie, What Now?. His last stand up film was 2013’s Let Me Explain, another massive success in his filmography.

The dude is on top of the world right now. I mean, hell, he sold out an entire football stadium. While appearing on The Late Show the other night, Hart said that this was the first ever “action-comedy stand up”. He goes onto explain that the first portion of the film is literally an action comedy, that wraps up with him popping out on stage. Pretty wild if you ask me.

On July 16, 2015, Universal Pictures announced that Kevin Hart: What Now?, a stand-up comedy film starring Kevin Hart, will be released theatrically in the United States on October 14, 2016. The concert was filmed live on August 30, 2015 in front of 53,000 people at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, with a live dress rehearsal for a small, intimate audience filmed at the stadium the night before on August 29, 2015.

We talk about a lot of dumb stuff in our office, so between the COED and CollegeCandy editors we figured that we should start recording some of the conversations to rehash a series called “He Said / She Said.”

Rather than start with something crazy like who would win in a fight between Mike Tyson and Bruce Lee, we’re diving right into the thick of things with a discussion on Sex Toys For Guys.

So true to form, we threw our staff right into the thick of it. Only after it was recorded and edited did we tell them that their answers were recorded.

I’ve gotta give a tip of the hat to Eric too for admitting that he’d be into the whole thing if the chick was a celebrity or if he was getting paid. We’re just laying it out on the line for you guys.

Kendall Fuhrman raked in the most votes in Round 2 of Miss COED 2016, which – spoiler alert- means that if she does it in the next round, she will be the winner.

Who knows what the final outcome will be, but one thing is clear: she didn’t get that many votes for nothing. Along with looking nearly perfect, Kendall is incredibly smart – with a major in international relations and global business with a concentration in marketing, and minoring in French, you have to be. She also managed to get a 4.0 last semester AND survived a year abroad in Paris when she was just 18, which definitely beats anything we were doing at that age (although our parents’ basement was pretty damn sweet).

What’s your favorite memory from studying in Paris?
I cannot pinpoint one specific memory that is my favorite, but the year as a whole was incredibly life-changing and inspiring. Being able to live on my own in a foreign country as an 18-year-old and travel to 10 different countries is an experience that most people do not get, and I’ll never forget my time there.

Can you speak French fluently?
Not fluently, but I’d say I’m pretty good for only starting to learn a year ago. I took Spanish in high school, so I had to start from level 1 in Paris, and now I’m taking French 4 at USC and can understand it completely and speak conversationally.

What was your reaction following the ISIS attacks at Bataclan in Paris?
I was very shocked and upset when I first heard. I couldn’t believe that someone would be that cruel. I immediately reached out to all my French friends living in Paris and thanked God they were all okay, but my heart still hurts for all those affected by this act of terror.

Your mom seems to be your #1 cheerleader. Have you always had a close relationship?
Yeah, she is my #1 cheerleader! My mom and I have always been really close and we became even closer after I spent a year in Paris. You don’t realize how much you need your mom until you have the flu in a foreign country without her help- haha! I pretty much go to her for everything, and know I can always lean on her.

When you graduate, how would you like to remember your college career?
I’d like to remember it as not only a fun time I had with friends, but also a time where I challenged myself and discovered who I truly am, and what I want to do in life.

What turns you off?
My biggest turn off is arrogance. I absolutely hate when people think they are better than others, and it makes me sick when people treat others badly because of that.

What do you look for in a guy? (Or girl- hey, we don’t discriminate here at COED!)
I don’t have a specific type when it comes to looks. I like a guy who can make me laugh, is confident, intelligent, passionate, supportive, treats me as an equal, has goals, and can also push me to accomplish my own.

If your high school self could talk to you now, what do you think she would say?
I think she would be proud of the things I have done and the person I have become. I remember junior year getting ready to apply for colleges, and my college counselor told me to not get my hopes up for USC because I most likely wouldn’t get in. This did not discourage me, but rather encouraged me to prove her wrong. And guess what – I did. :)

Describe yourself in three words.
Determined, risk-taker, confident.

What kind of mischief did you get into growing up?
I had two brothers and was definitely a tomboy growing up. We would play in the mud, ride dirt bikes, play basketball, go camping, make forts around the house, and set up pranks for my parents. My younger brother and I were quite the troublemakers at home, but I was always quiet in the classroom.

Everybody, scream out “B*tch!” as loud as you can, cause Jesse Pinkman is back on television! You’re friendly neighborhood meth chef is back in action! Except, well, obviously it has nothing to do with Breaking Bad. The actor who played Jesse Pinkman, the OG Aaron Paul, is starring in a Hulu series called The Path. The first trailer just dropped a few days ago and it looks balls to the wall intense.

Not that Paul has been struggling by any means– the dude is a genuinely great actor with solid credits to his name– but he has struggled to achieve the status he had while being virtually half of the juggernaut that was Breaking Bad (him and Mr. White, of course).

The first trailer for Hulu’s upcoming The Path features Paul, along withMichelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy, about a man who joins a cult after a crisis of faith. And in all honesty, the trailer is f*cking intense. It’s obvious Paul excels when portraying a man going through internal struggle, and his character in The Path seems to be going through exactly that.

Frankly, the world is a better place when Aaron Paul stars on a TV show. I might actually need to subscribe to Hulu just for this. The Path comes to Hulu on March 30, 2016.

The Phi Delta Theta fraternity at Oregon State University has been charged with 78 counts of providing alcohol to minors and hosting a party for minors (39 counts each) in connection to a toga party held in early December. The fraternity is currently under interim suspension and forced to cease all activities. It doesn’t take a lawyer to know that’s bad, bad news for the boys.

In addition to charging the fraternity, as an entity (which is already a pretty singular event), the city of Corvallis arrested the Phi Delt chapter president and the former chapter president. They were charged with providing alcohol to minors and hosting a party for minors.

Let’s hold up here for one second before we continue with the story–because this is a tale of caution more than anything. Do you honestly think in your heart of hearts that these two young men deserved to be booked and arrested? Sure, they’re officers of a fraternity that’s been accused of providing alcohol to minors, and everyone who’s ever been in a fraternity knows that officers are the ones who will fall on the sword if it comes to that, but that’s BS.

It’s not like these guys attacked or brutalized someone. They hosted a party in college.

According to the Corvallis Police Department reports, three women under the age of 21 had required hospitalization for alcohol overdoses that night. These women must have told officers that they had been served at the Phi Delta Theta fraternity house because cops showed up at their door of 120 N.W. 13th and asked if they could do a walk-through.

Intelligently, the brothers did not give consent to that search. Never give consent for a search. Ever. Now read that sentence again and hope to God that you remember it when you’re in the hot seat.

Sadly, that’s where the Phi Delts stopped making smart decisions. Rather than end the party or even clean up/hide any empty bottles, the brothers simply continued their Toga party. According to this one photo on Instagram we found, things looked like they were probably fun.

But while the bros were dancing and enjoying apple juice, the Corvallis Police Department was hard at work obtaining a search warrant to search the house.

When police eventually gained entrance to the Phi Delta Theta house legally, they found (to no one’s surprise) “25 partially consumed bottles of hard alcohol and 40 closed containers of beer, in addition to photographing about 120 empty alcohol bottles [source].”

Additionally, the police cited 39 people for being minors in connection with the party.

And here comes the real kicker: remember those three women who were hospitalized? Apparently they weren’t even at Phi Delt when they were detained. They had came, left and got wasted elsewhere which is where the police found them. A redditor who claims to be an OSU PDT had this to say:

Hey guys, this is my Chapter here and yeah it does suck especially considering how the cops were called on us. These three girls weren’t even on Phi Delt property when they were taken to the hospital. They just ratted saying they were part of our house dance when they were unable to control their drinking elsewhere. They were seniors / juniors too…

More than likely, the Toga party was probably just another theme party rather than an all-out rager. Which makes it equally sh*tty that now the Phi Delta Theta brothers are being publicly shamed and made an example of.

But that’s why you don’t take police interference into your college activities lightly. If the cops knock on your door, don’t let them in without a warrant for whatever reason. Once they leave, clean your dirty laundry immediately. Get the pledges or new recruits to bust chops lickity split and then get on with your lives.

Otherwise, your brothers and officers could be arrested and charged with something everyone knows is bullsh*t.

The Powerball drawn on the night of Wednesday, January 13th was the largest Powerball Jackpot in the lottery’s history, totaling $1.5 billion. After taxes, the person with the winning numbers can expect to take home close to $800 million.

Typically, once everyone gets over the shock of learning they won’t be the ones spending the Grand Prize money, they immediately want to know everything about the lucky Powerball winner. Or in this case, winners.

Here’s what we do know.

The winning Powerball numbers were: 8, 27, 34, 4, 19 and the Powerball of 10. Three people from three different states won: one person from California, Tennessee and Florida. Almost immediately after the drawing, the California Lottery announced they had a winner.

Historically, Chino Hills in San Bernardino, CA is one of the richer areas of the state but that doesn’t mean that a millionaire won. At least that’s what we’re hoping. It’s entirely plausible that someone in the working or middle class bought a ticket on their way home from work.

As of yet, the winners haven’t come forward to claim their prize, but we’re hoping that they know what they’re getting themselves into. In the past, previous Powerball winners haven’t been able to keep a cool head on their shoulders.

Remember Nick Carter? That boy bander with the angelic vocals? Also the first person your girlfriend ever got off too? Well, he was just arrested in Florida for being a total douche. We thought the hair similarities were just a coincidence… but could Carter actually be trying to be the old Justin Bieber?

Late last night Carter was arrested at Key West’s Hog’s Breath Saloon – a well-known bar in the area – after the singer got into a fight with staff. Around 8:13 p.m., cops showed up and booked him for misdemeanor battery. ABC gives more details:

The report says a bartender refused to serve Carter and Michael Rae Papayans of Palos Verdes Estates, California, who became agitated and aggressive. The bar’s staff repeatedly told both men to leave.

According to the report, once outside, Papayans head-butted one employee and Carter then grabbed a bouncer by the throat.

Good move, guys!

According to TMZ, initial arrest docs listed Nick’s occupation as “None,” which is kind of hilarious considering they’re actually right about that one. I mean honestly, what has the man done since dancing around in a robot costume with a bunch of other dudes?

Unfortunately they updated the post several hours later to report that his profession was listed as “Singer.” It was fun while it lasted!

So what’s going on here – Is this just a desperate plea to remain relevant? Is he drowning his sorrows regarding a washed up career in endless amounts of alcohol? Or is he just a douche?

Three Columbia University students on their way home from a mission in Honduras yesterday died in a tragic bus accident. The bus was filled with students who were just hours away from flying home after a successful volunteer trip when it skidded off a ravine and fell at least 260 feet. All the Columbia victims who died on the bus were female and have been identified as Olivia Varley Erhardt (20), Daniella Moffson (21), and Abigail Flanagan (45). Flanagan was a nurse practitioner at Columbia University Medical Hospital and a student.

Flanagan’s son, Patrick, was one of the organizers of the trip and was also on the bus. He gave a statement that he tried to administer CPR to his mom. She died in the hospital.

The group was with Global Brigades, a health and international organization offering a seven-day trip that had ended Wednesday. They had just left the small town of San Juancito and were making their way to the airport.

Firefighters who responded to the scene believe that the crash was a result of mechanical failure. Our thoughts go out to the family of the deceased, but there’s silver lining in that there could have been many more deaths considering the severity of the crash itself.

Columbia medical teams have been sent down to Honduras for assistance, including Medical Director for Health Services Dr. Samuel Seward.

Grandparents Peter and Martha Erhardt told NBC News that they were heartbroken over the loss their beloved granddaughter, Olivia.

“It’s a terrible tragedy. She was the light of our lives,” Peter said of the sophomore and budding scientist. “She was still making up her mind which science she was going into.”

Skateboarder Erik Bragg posted to social media claiming that he is one of the three winners of the $1.6 billion Powerball Jackpot. It’s not yet confirmed by anyone, but here’s the photo he posted to Instagram.

Update: The ticket is fake. If the ticket were real, the letters ABCDE would correspond to different lines of numbers. Since he has only one line, the only thing that would appear is “A.”

For what it’s worth, we’ve taken a close look at picture of the winning ticket in photoshop plus a few other places and there’s nothing outright fishy about it. It is strange, however, that the numbers on his ticket are actually in the order that they were drawn in. As you may or may not know about the Powerball, the order of the numbers doesn’t matter at all.

Obviously we’ll have to wait for the authorities to confirm whether or not Erik (who is a real person with fantastic hair) is now actually a millionaire, but that didn’t stop someone with his likeness from taking over Twitter the morning after. Check out how many RT’s this has.

Immediately after the announcement, a bunch of other accounts popped up with different instances of his name–all pretending to be Erik and asking for RT’s.

So let’s get right down to it: do we think he’s actually the winner? Personally, I don’t think so. As we mentioned before, Erik is actually already a well respected skateboarder who’s no stranger to social media and the internet. He’s good friends with celebrity skater Ryan Sheckler, and hell he even had a feature on VanityFair.com about his awesome haircut.

That’s why we think there’s a good chance that he jumped on the perfect chance to get his name out there and increase his followers. Right now this dude is sitting on almost 89K followers on Instagram.

Then again, how awesome would it be if the whole story was real? Skateboarder who never wanted to be rich in the first place enjoys millions and even donates some to the internet? That’s the kind of fantasy that makes the Powerball worth playing in the first place.

Besides the Terminator movies and being the most badass person on the planet, we have another thing to thank Arnold Schwarzenegger for: his insanely hot daughter, Katherine Schwarzenegger.

The 26-year-old recently heated up the pages of Galore in elegant jumpsuits and little black dresses, while an article where she discussed her famous parents stood alongside them.

“I didn’t grow up in the Hollywood spotlight, and my mom made an effort to give us a normal upbringing, but I felt like they always knew everything. I also always had older friends,” she explained.

The ad talks about luxury, being a star, yada yada yada but all we can do is zone out the noise and stare.

Tidiane Cheik Diaw, a 27-year-old illegal Senegalese immigrant, was officially arrested for the murder of American artist Ashley Olsen. She was living in Florence, Italy at the time and he claims her death was an accident.

Tidiane Cheik Diaw allegedly confessed to Florence police that he accidentally killed Olsen after consensual sex, and was charged with murder, aggravated by cruelty.

For those of you who haven’t been following the murder investigation, Olsen’s death was reported on Saturday after her boyfriend, Federico Fiorentini, found her dead in Florence’s Santo Spirito neighborhood apartment.

According to Inquisitr,

Ashley was found lying naked on her bed, dead, with scratches on her neck. An autopsy found that Olsen had been strangled with a cord or rope and suffered two fractures to her skull, which would’ve proven fatal. Police found no signs of forced entry in her apartment, no signs of a struggle with her attacker, and tests revealed she’d had sex before her death but hadn’t been sexually assaulted.

After going over more details, police believe that Ashley and Tidiane met at a local bar late Thursday night and left the Monte Carla nightclub together to go back to her home.

Evidence suggests the pair had consensual sex, possibly under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Pending toxicology reports will establish whether either of them had been taking drugs at the time of Ashley’s death.

Olsen’s skull fractures may suggest that, following sex, the pair had a fight. The suspect suggested this possibility, explaining that the row began after she asked him to leave.

“Then he probably slammed [Olsen’s] head against something twice fracturing skill and then strangled her,” said Florence Prosecutor Giuseppe Creazzo.

Tidiane claims that he didn’t mean to kill her, but that he pushed her and she fell, and she hit her head. He also claims that the strangulation marks around her neck formed after he attempted to lift her up.

Olsen had been living in Florence for the past couple of years.

The motion-controlled dance game fad no longer burns brightly, but Just Dance games continue to be some of the most effective ways to work some exercise into your gaming routine. A price drop from $50 to $30 makes the game a more attractive purchase, but you’ll need the Kinect or PlayStation Move controller to get the most out of the game on current systems.

The all-pop track list is a mix of current hits and songs that hogged radio play over the last half decade, with artists including Jason Derulo, Meghan Trainor, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas. Game modes are ample and varied, with a main campaign, workout-focused Sweat mode, one-off single-play songs and group performances. Just about all the modes snap photos of you to capture how ridiculous you look.

Rail Gun Controller

(Xbox One, PS4, PS3, $199)

Something of a throwback to the days of the NES Zapper and the Super Scope 16 for the SNES, this Kickstarter-launched device is a metallic attachment that fits onto Airsoft guns, transforming them into light gun-style controllers that work well in first-person shooters such as games from the Call of Duty, Battlefront and Halo series. Thanks to the buttons on the side of the controller, the Rail Gun works for just about about all games.

As you’d expect with a controller this expensive, the button loadouts are customizable. There are also toggles that let you adjust the sensitivity of the trigger, directional controls and buttons. While not as heavy as a real gun of its size, the controller is bulky enough to tire you out during extended play sessions, which can be a liability during competitive online play. The feel you get from lining up headshots is more viscerally satisfying than what you get when moving your cursor around. This is a showpiece you get to wow visitors rather than a functional device that will enhance your skills.

Resident Evil Origins Collection

(Xbox One, PS4, $40, Mature)

The original Resident Evil, which was released last year in a remastered HD edition, is packaged up with a similarly rejiggered Resident Evil Zero, a 2002 GameCube series prequel hailed by old-school fans as one of the best entries in the series. Time has been kind to the game, which is invested deeply in the survival horror roots of the series — before it veered off into Call of Duty-style action with a convoluted story — but isn’t hindered by the stiff controls and cinematics of the early games.

It’s Zero, which is also available as an individual $20 download, that’s the star here. In the days before the viral outbreak that unleashed zombie-like terrors, you play as a special ops team deployed to Raccoon City to investigate a series of grisly murders. You investigate the backdrop of what led to the deadly mansion in the first game. All the textures in the backgrounds have been ravamped and upgraded. The time and care taken with the game matches the treatment given to the original Resident Evil, and grants new life to the O.G. days of the series. If you’re into Resident Evil games and missed out on Zero, this is the best form of the game to make your introduction.

Our minds are exploding. According to her Instagram page, we’re not the only ones who’ve noticed – she’s apparently played Taylor Swift in a music video once. That’s pretty awesome, especially considering this is about the closest we’ll ever get to Taylor Swift. And we’re totally ok with that.

A Bismarck State College shooting threat has been placed the North Dakota community college on lockdown. The move happened after the school said it received a credible threat that someone would “shoot up the library with a machine gun.” Immediately after they received the threat, the school took action at 11:25 AM.

Here’s a screenshot of the school’s website where you can clearly read a “Shelter in place” warning.

Update: The Bismarck Police Department have said that it’s not an “active shooter situation” and are currently searching for the person who posted the message.

Police are still searching the campus floor-by-floor to ensure that the threat has been extinguished.

The timing of the message is somewhat interesting, considering that BSC is the place where North Dakota governor candidate Doug Burgum, who just announced his bid, was scheduled to appear today. That appearance has since been moved.
