UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor was held last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada — and it’s interesting that the fight was sponsored by The Hateful Eight, because the entire Featherweight Championship unification bout barely lasted a hateful eight seconds. We thought that UFC tradition was strictly held for Ronda Rousey fights (winning and losing), but current champion José Aldo hit the mat in record time. It was yet another UFC fight that can be contained in one GIF…

In defense of Aldo, Conor McGregor didn’t win just because he fell over — although the match went quickly enough that it looked that way to a lot of angry people who paid a lot of money to see the match. Take a look from another angle, and see that Aldo actually fell down after taking a hit, and still threw a pretty good punch while being knocked out…

Yeah, that’s pretty cool. UFC is still the best entertainment for your dollar. It just adds up real fast.

Saturday Night Live had Chris Hemsworth hosting last night, and Will Ferrell stopped by to play George W. Bush and goof on Donald Trump in the opening. That was alright — but the sketch that really touched our hearts was the Star Wars: The Force Awakens toy commercial that goofed on geeks. Yeah, that’s an easy target, but we’re treating it like a highlight to show that we can take a joke because geeks are funny.

Actually, our favorite part about this sketch — where grown-up losers show kids how to really play with Star Wars toys — is that the casting folks hired a little kid who looks like a young Andy Samberg. There’s also a pretty sharp range of geeks here. We’re They’re not all alike, you know.

Furthermore, little figurines of Chris Hemsworth are also popular with a certain segment of his adult core audience, and you think he might’ve spoken out about that. And check out Kenan Thompson at the end of this sketch, where he pops up in the tag to promote other SNL videos. See what he does at the end. Damn right it’s fun to play with lasers. WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs 2015 is a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It will take place on December 13, 2015 at 8 PM EST at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

It will be the seventh event under the TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs chronology. The main event features the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus defending his title against challenger Roman Reigns in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match.

The event was established in 2009, replacing Armageddon in the December slot of WWE’s pay-per-view calendar. However, the concept of the show is based on the primary matches of the card each containing a stipulation utilizing tables, ladders and/or chairs as legal weapons. The event’s concept was voted by fans via WWE’s official website and was chosen over an event with street fight main events and an event featuring a single-elimination tournament.

The best nights to see the 2015 Geminid meteor shower will be on the night of December 13 into the early morning of December 14th, and then again the next night, going into December 15.

Geminid meteors tend to be few and far between at early evening, but intensify in number as evening deepens into late night. The waxing crescent moon will set at early evening, leaving dark skies for this year’s Geminid meteor shower. This shower favors Earth’s Northern Hemisphere, but will be visible from the Southern Hemisphere as well.

NASA and the online Slooh Community Observatory will broadcast live views of the Geminid shower  with the Slooh’s webcast begins at 8 p.m. EST on December 13 here. The first trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence just popped up during today’s NFL games — which was a pretty big shock. Some of us had forgotten they had even been filming it. In fact, we only learned a few days ago that Vivica A. Fox is even in the movie. That was a shock, too, since we know that Will Smith priced himself out of this sequel.

And what does that involve, exactly? Well, it’s been 20 years since the aliens first landed in Independence Day, and Vivica isn’t the only cast member still around. Jeff Goldbum gets to step up as the lead, and bearded Bill Pullman also makes it back to the multiplex. Liam Hemsworth is the new young star power. We also get some William Fichtner power. Also, it looks like Judd Hirsch is back in action. That’s a big step up from Sharknado 2.

The plot seems to be that the evil invading aliens have returned, and Jeff Goldblum has some pithy comments to make about that, you bet. We don’t know how they plan to save the world without Randy Quaid, though. That’s reason enough to get us into the theater…

University of North Texas

Ryan McMillan, a student at the University of North Texas, was shot and killed by police early Sunday after allegedly threatening an officer with an ax.

McMillan was a sophomore transfer from Fort Worth studying pre-hospitality. He was celebrating his 21st birthday on Sunday when the incident took place.

UNT spokesperson Margarita Venegas says school police responded to reports that a man was breaking car windows in a nearby parking garage around 1am.

According to Venegas, when police arrived at the scene, McMillan “advanced” towards the officer with the ax in hand. In response, the officer – who has yet to be named – shot and killed him.

The officer has since been placed on administrative leave pending investigation. He was not injured during the incident.

School President Neal Smatresk sent the following message to students shortly after the tragedy:

Dear UNT community members,

This is a tragic day for our university family. Early this morning, one of our UNT Police officers fatally shot a suspect after responding to reports of a person knocking out car windows near the intersection of Oak and Fry streets.

When the officer arrived, he encountered a white male suspect in the street who was carrying an axe. The suspect advanced on the officer and the officer fired at the suspect, who sadly was one of our students. The suspect was the only person injured. His name has not yet been released by the Medical Examiner.

This is a tragic event that saddens us as a university community. We offer our condolences to the individuals, their families and all involved.

According to UNT Police Chief Ed Reynolds, our police department is cooperating fully in the investigations being conducted by the Texas Rangers and the Denton Police Department.

The police officer involved will be placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Although this is a time when many of our students, faculty and staff are home for the holidays, I ask that you please help to support each other during this sad time.

In an interview with British tabloid The Sun, 30-year-old Carter reminisces about the ménage à trois, saying that it was prompted during a game of Truth or Dare. She also said that the overall experience was “a bit cheesy-American,” whatever that means.

However, despite the ambiguous comment, Carter paid Bieber a ton of compliments… like enough to make you vomit.

After explaining how the whole thing started, she gets real with details, saying that her time with Biebs was “the most amazing sex.” Alright… we get it.

“It was amazing and surreal. The lights were off and we started kissing against a wall. When I looked over to the bed there was another girl. I think she was American. They had clearly been doing something. We got on to the bed and all started fooling around together.”

But the girl flounced out when Justin lavished Laura with more attention.

She said: “She didn’t like the fact I was in the situation and left in a strop about ten minutes in. Justin didn’t go after her. In fact, he seemed more into it, happier, when it was just me and him. We just had the most amazing sex. We’d stop for a while and have a cigarette together and a chat. He asked a lot about me and what I did. I told him I couldn’t believe I was there with him and he just laughed and said I was cool. It was a bit cheesy-American but he did not disappoint. Those naked pictures did not do him justice.”

Back when I first started working for COED, I wrote this about Rutgers University:

Rutgers finds itself in an interesting predicament. On one hand, they want to to be this run-of-the-mill Big 10 university, however, a sizeable part of the university, and the student population itself, resides in the less than stellar conditions of New Brunswick….The issues Rutgers faces is not a result of individuals not doing their jobs, but of systematic and cultural nature. The problem Rutgers faces is that it is trying to be a college city, when it is really a college IN a city, however they fail to act accordingly…Therefore, I do not see an easy solution for Rutgers. They can implement all the rules and regulations in the world, reshape the hierarchy of the university, and dump millions and millions of dollars into cosmetic and functional improvements, however, the fact remains that a crucial percentage of Rutgers is, for better or for worse, intertwined with the city of New Brunswick. Until the university realizes that, it will continue to face city related issues such as robbery, shootings, assault, and rape.

Fast forward three months, and Rutgers University Police Department has increased patrols after four people were robbed in two hours this past weekend, three of which involved guns.

Three robberies in the early morning hours of December 12 were the fifteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth incidents to generate Rutgers University crime alerts this semester. All three incidents occurred near Rutgers’ College Avenue campus or its Cook campuses in New Brunswick, which are located on opposite ends of the city’s downtown.

“In light of last evening’s robberies that were described in a Crime Alert, the Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) has initiated a strategic patrol plan which includes the addition of RUPD officers in the 2nd, 5th and 6th wards of New Brunswick,” said RUPD Chief Kenneth Cop. Yes, the police Chief’s last name is Cop. So Rutgers.

Well, well, well, look who was (unsurprisingly) right? This guy. I have said for as long as I have been a Rutgers student (which has been far too long… SHOUT OUT TO ALL MY 5TH YEARS!), that every dollar not spent on beefing up the police department is a waste of money. And this was BEFORE the shootings in Paris and San Bernadino and all the craziness that has consumed our planet over the last couple of months.

This is a serious issue, and quite frankly, Rutgers is lucky it isn’t worse. They are a squeezed trigger away from having a national controversy. And rightfully so, because the safety of Rutgers students is legitimately questionable at this points. Most students (myself included) accept the fact that something could happen to them on any given night, they just hope they get lucky. And that is state of mind no one, especially a student, should be in.

When Disney bought the rights to the Star Wars franchise, everyone should have known what was coming: marketing and integration of Star Wars into pretty much every single product imaginable.

It totally makes sense to merge Star Wars into toys and maybe even cars, but fruits and cereals? That’s he kind of overkill we’d only expect from a Death Star. But when Disney paid $4 billion to buy Lucasfilm, they also probably knew that they’d make boatloads of cash down the line with those kinds of opportunities. Despite some of the negative backlash, it’s paying off for them. Some experts are predicting that as much as $5 billion worth of Star Wars merchandise will sell within the first year.

One of the things they’re aiming to do this time around is concentrate on female fans. Not only is protagonist of Star Wars: The Force Awakens a female, their a good deal of marketing and integration campaign is aimed at women. There are plenty of pageants and competitions in the world, but other than Miss COED (because it’s awesome) and Miss BumBum Brazil (because it’s ridiculous), our favorite gathering of beautiful women is Miss Universe. We’ll get to why in a second.

Originally owned by Donald Trump, the Miss Universe pageant is now under new management and will be aired for the first time by FOX on December 20th at 7 PM. But why do you care? Because the new owners have decided to keep the most popular portion of the event: the swimsuits.

Unlike the stuffier Miss America, the Miss Universe pageant is actually entertaining. There are ridiculous costumes, relatively enjoyable acts, and a swimwear portion. Obviously they’re not going to wear anything that’s particularly revealing, but these women were deemed some of the hottest females in their nation. Just look at the Miss USA winner, Olivia Jordan, who will be our representative in Miss Universe.
