Harvard University is getting political.

In a recent political poll that targeted millennial voters, the majority that were surveyed indicted that they would rather have a Democratic president in the white house than a Republican.

The survey focused on 2,011 18- to 29-year-olds, and 56% sided with a Democratic president while 36% went with Republican. The results, which were gathered by the Harvard Institute of Politics, were similar to IOP’s spring 2015 poll.

Results also found that despite Hilary Clinton leading in the Democratic polls, millennials are giving Bernie Sanders an edge, while GOP voters favor Ben Carson and Donald Trump.

According to USA Today,

“While Hillary Clinton maintains double-digit leads over Bernie Sanders in national polls of likely Democratic primary voters,” the poll reported, Sanders holds “a slight edge” at 41% to Clinton’s 35% (22% don’t know).  Less than 1% said they supported Martin O’Malley.

However, there’s also a huge downside; according to reports, millennials have been losing interest in American politics since 2011. “Only two in 10 considered themselves ‘politically active,’ the poll indicated, while just less than half (46%) said they’re following the campaign “very” or “somewhat” closely.”

Results also found that 60% of surveyors supported sending U.S. troops to fight ISIS but only 16% said they would actually join the fight themselves. To make matters worse, roughly 49% also said that the American Dream is dead.

Two additional polls on millennial voting habits are expected to be released before the 2016 election, so hopefully it’s not such a downer the next time around.

It is down to the final four weeks of the 2015 NFL season and if the New England Patriots and Houston Texans were to have played a month ago, New England may have won 73-0 with the way the two teams were playing. Now, New England has lost two straight to fall to 10-2 while Houston has worked themselves back to 6-6. The two teams play Sunday night at NRG Stadium with the Texans looking to work on their playoff hopes while the Patriots try to rebound from their losing ways.

New England lost 35-28 last week to Philadelphia at home after losing to Denver the week before to end their perfect season. Tom Brady is well on his way to a 5,000-yard passing season with 3,912 yards through the air so far, 31 touchdowns and six interceptions. Rob Gronkowski may return this week and leads the team with 931 receiving yards on 57 catches and nine touchdowns. LeGarrette Blount has paced the run game lately especially with Dion Lewis out for the season. Blount has 650 rushing yards and six touchdowns. This is suddenly a pretty important game for New England to build confidence.

Houston had their four-game winning streak snapped during a 30-21 loss to Buffalo. Brian Hoyer has 2,202 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions on the season while DeAndre Hopkins looks like one of the top receivers in the game with 86 catches for 1,169 yards and ten touchdowns. Alfred Blue has taken over for an injured Arian Foster and has rushed for 444 yards and two touchdowns. Houston plays Indianapolis, who they are tied with in the division, next week. Can the Texans avoid looking too far ahead to that game even if they are playing the Patriots?

John Legend lit up NYC Wednesday night with a stellar solo performance at the Skylight at Moynihan Station to kick off Stella Artois‘  Give Beautifully holiday campaign.  The incredibly intimate 30 minute set culminated with his newest holiday single “Under the Stars”, the first-ever duet with a musical star on earth and actual stars in the sky.

“Stella Artois was originally crafted as a holiday gift to the city of Leuven, Belgium and we want to pay tribute to our origin story and inspire the entire country to give beautifully this holiday season,” says Ricardo Marques, vice president, Stella Artois. “Our star-studded collaboration with John is our holiday gift to America, a piece of our storied legacy memorialized in the most beautiful way.”

After the performance, the event space transformed into “Stars” a “first-of-its-kind immersive and interactive light installation” that consisted of clusters of over 500 interactive and kinetic LED lights hovering over a black, reflective glass floor. It was truly an awe-inspiring, awesome experience.  “Stars” by Stella Artois is open to the public Thursday, December 10th thru Saturday, December 12th.  If you are in NYC this weekend, I highly recommend checking it out.

University of Delaware recently gifted the Second Amendment Club – which clearly celebrates the use of guns for just about anything you can think of – $500 to buy ammo with. The ammo will be used for practice at a nearby shooting range.

But the decision was a long-time coming. According to Tyler Yzaguirre, one of the club’s founders, the university initially denied the club’s request for meetings and funding. After further appeals, school officials finally gave in.

“We’re the first pro-constitution, pro-second amendment club at the University of Delaware,” Yzaguirre explains. He goes on to say that the group will go on to buy rifle-calibre bullets, which can be used for AR-15s.

Students who aren’t a part of the club have opposing views.

“I believe everyone has the right to the second amendment but I don’t think the school should be funding it necessarily,” Erin Dowd, a student, said.

In a statement from the university, he “group followed the proper procedure; [as such] the Allocation Board reviewed the request and determined it met the necessary criteria for funding.”

UD prohibits guns and ammo on campus, but another member of the club agreed to store it in their off-campus apartment.

So, this is kind of weird.

Paul is a 52-year-old man living in Canada. He is also a father of four and had also been married for 23 years – that is, until he traded that life to live as a 6-year-old little girl.

It gets weirder. The Canadian now goes by the name Stefonknee Wolscht and currently lives with two adoptive parents and their children. Because he wants to be a child and children cannot live a life without parents.

She says: “Well, I have a mummy and a daddy.

Wolscht then goes on to explain how her new “mummy’s” youngest granddaughter wanted a younger sister so she knocked her age down by a couple of years.

“A year ago, I was eight, and she was seven.

“I said, ‘Well, I don’t mind going to six.’ So I’ve been six ever since.”

Holly Holm’s net worth is not on par with some of her MMA contemporaries, but after knocking out Ronda Rousey, that all could change.

Holly Holm is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight division. She is the current UFC Bantamweight Champion. Holm is also a former professional boxer and kickboxer. She was a multiple-time world champion in boxing, defending her titles 18 times in three weight classes, and was a two-time Ring magazine fighter of the year (2005, 2006). Holm is the first person to win championships in both boxing and mixed martial arts. She is the consensus #1 female bantamweight fighter in the world. Fight Matrix also lists her as the #1 pound-for-pound female fighter in the world, while Sherdog lists her at #2, and ESPN at #3. Holm is the only female fighter to be listed in Sports Illustrated‘s mixed gender pound-for-pound ranking at #10. Holm made her mixed martial arts debut on March 4, 2011 against Christina Domke at an event promoted by her boxing promoter Lenny Fresquez. She co-headlined the card with Jackson’s Submission Fighting teammate Keith Jardine. Holm won the fight via TKO in the second round after her opponent was unable to continue due to leg kicks inflicted by Holm.

2012 – 2013

In 2012, she married Jeff Kirkpatrick, who is also from Albuquerque.

On February 28, 2013, Holm made her Bellator MMA debut against Katie Merrill at Bellator 91 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Holm won the bout via TKO in the second round.

Holm announced that she would retire from boxing after her May 11, 2013 boxing match against Mary McGee so that she can fully concentrate on her MMA career. The message came as a punctuation in the negotiations to arrange a title-battle between Holm and the Norwegian champion Cecilia Brækhus. Holm went on to defeat McGee via unanimous decision, for her boxing retirement bout.

On July 19, 2013, Holm faced Allanna Jones at Legacy Fighting Championship 21. She won the fight by head kick knockout in the second round.

Holm was expected to face Erica Paes at Legacy Fighting Championship 24 on October 11, 2013. However, Paes was removed from the card and Holm instead faced Nikki Knudsen. Holm won the fight via TKO due to a body kick and knees in round two

On December 6, 2013, Holm faced Angela Hayes at Fresquez Productions: Havoc. She won the fight via unanimous decision.

2014

On April 4, 2014, Holm faced Juliana Werner for the inaugural Legacy FC Women’s Bantamweight Championship. She won the bout and title via TKO in the fifth round due to a head kick and punches.

On July 10, 2014, it was announced that Holm had signed a multi-fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Later in an interview with MMA Junkie, Holm’s manager Lenny Fresquez disclosed that Holm’s contract is for five fights.

Holm was expected to make her debut at UFC 181 against Raquel Pennington. However, on November 13, it was announced that Holm was forced to pull out due to an undisclosed injury.The two fighters faced each other at UFC 184. Holm won the bout by split decision.

2015

Holm faced Marion Reneau on July 15, 2015 at UFC Fight Night 71. Holm won the fight by unanimous decision.

In her highest profile MMA fight to date, Holm faced defending women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey before a record-setting crowd in the main event of UFC 193 on November 14, 2015. Despite being a massive betting underdog, Holm controlled a majority of the bout with her superior striking and defended all of Rousey’s takedowns. The second fighter to take Rousey past the first round (after Miesha Tate), she won the fight via knockout in the second with a head kick, ending Rousey’s undefeated streak and three-year reign as champion.

Holm was also awarded her first “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” bonus awards (totaling $100,000). By winning the title, she became the first person to win championships in both boxing and MMA. Following the bout, UFC fighter Jon Jones said he thought Holm was “already the G.O.A.T. (greatest of all time) of women’s combat sports”.

According to Money Nation, Holly Holm made $1.7 million for beating Ronda Rousey in UFC 193 on 11/14/2015. Holm earned $40,000 to show and $50,000 for winning the fight. She also received a $70,000 “performance of the night” bonus and $40,000 in Reebok sponsorship money.

Anyway, Rita uses her turn with Love to show off her fine vocal pipes with a rendition of “Jingle Bell Rock.” Back in the UK, she’s had a rough year being treated like a pop tart whose mostly showing off shocking outfits while being a judge on the UK version of The X Factor.

As you can see here, though, Rita’s also willing to show off her own fine femme factor as a vocalist. We’re certainly won over. Frankly, we’ve been kind of sick of “Jingle Bell Rock,” but this is our favorite rendition yet…

UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor is a UFC mixed martial arts event that will be held on December 12, 2015 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This event marks the first time the UFC has ever scheduled three events in consecutive days, with all of them taking place in Las Vegas. Instead of the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the other two events will be held at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan.

The event is expected to be headlined by a UFC Featherweight Championship unification bout between current champion José Aldo and future champion Conor McGregor. The bout was originally expected to take place at UFC 189. However, Aldo pulled out of the bout due to a rib injury and the event was instead headlined by an interim title bout between McGregor and Chad Mendes.

The first UFC 194 preliminary fight card begins at 7 PM EST and can be watched online with UFC Fight Pass on UFC.TV. It’s a subscription service which offers one-month, six-month and 12-month subscription options to Fight Pass. Alternatively we suggest starting a free trial which expires in 30 days. It will then continue on Fox Sports 1 at 8PM EST.

X-Men: Apocalypse

Here’s the follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past — which really doesn’t get enough credit for being an exceptionally smart telling of a classic comic-book story arc. Might even be the best. Now we have director Bryan Singer taking a swing at the Apocalypse storyline, where the first-ever mutant regenerates after a few centuries of rest and decides to take over the world. The biggest deal here is that Jennifer Lawrence seems to have a starring role as Mystique, but we’re also reminded how great Days of Future Past looked as a true comic-book movie….

The Brothers Grimsby

Sacha Baron Cohen stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to debut his new comedy about an international suave superspy who has to work with his lout of a brother. That’s a pretty tired plot, but this still looks kind of promising, with Sacha trying to cram in the comedy amongst a straight storyline. We’re kind of sold….

Kickboxer: Vengeance

Jean-Claude Van Damme’s career isn’t going so great that we’re surprised to see him returning to the Kickboxer franchise — but we weren’t expecting Dave Bautista to take a break from blockbusters to hang out with the fading action star. Maybe the script is better than we thought, or the producers were willing to shell out a lot of cash. Not that Bautista’s the only thing that has us hoping to see this on the big screen. There’s also Gina Carano in the cast…..

The BFG

Yeah, it’s a Disney film, and B.F.G. doesn’t stand for what video-gamers think it stands for — but it’s also a mix of Steven Spielberg and demented kiddie author Roald Dahl telling a story about battling giants. The titular Big Friendly Giant is kind of dopey and has to take on evil giants who are twice his size and like to eat humans. One of them is Bill Hader, too. We know Tomorrowland really fizzled, but this might still get us sitting amongst the young’uns…

Michigan State is in the playoffs, which means the annual Brown Family Christmas Light Show is going out to the tune of the “Spartan Fight Song.” It’s the final Brown Family Christmas Light Show, too.

If you don’t live in Michigan, then you probably won’t shed a tear over that. The Brown Family Light Show is a Michigan tradition, though. The holiday-happy Browns have spent years bringing in locals who admire the family’s annual Christmas display.

Sadly, things are going dark at 1093 Cranbrook Lane in Mason, Michigan. Mr. Brown made this announcement on the family’s website earlier this year…

After months of debating back-n-forth, it has been decided that the 2015 show will be the last show for the Brown Christmas Light Show. We will be building a new house in the Mason area, but decided that the light show will not be moving with us. With the time that it takes for planning of a new home, it was decided that I just don’t have the time to plan a new house and continue with the light show. I know this will be a big letdown for lots of families in the area who have made this an annual tradition to visit, and for that we are sorry.

There’s a class act. Oh, well. At least Michigan State is enjoying the spotlight as the Brown Family Christmas Light Show comes to an end. We hate to take sides, but maybe the Spartans will try to win one for the Browns when they take on Alabama at the Cotton Bowl on December 31st…
