This week, Elon University students went above and beyond for Kathryn Thompson, a worker at one of their on-campus cafeterias who they feel is an important member of their community. “It’s five nights every week that you can count on her generous helping of down to earth sincerity and open friendliness served up with every plate she delivers,” students Taylor Zisholtz and Lucy Smith-Williams say.

So what could the students, in turn, do for Kathryn? Well they got an idea after talking with the kind soul about Florida, when they learned Kathryn’s dream was to take her family to Disney World.

And that’s exactly what they did. With a lot of help from the Elon University students and community, the girls raised $10K to send Kathryn on her dream vacation.

I know it’s cruel, but I couldn’t help myself but laugh when Kathryn said “that’s sweet,” without even knowing what she was looking at. Just the definition of a nice older woman who says that things are pretty and nice because that’s the way she was raised.

If you’ve happened to turn on the radio in the last few months, you’d know that The Weeknd is not only the sh*t, but also taking over music. Abel Makkonen Tesfaye – who’s better known for his stage name The Weeknd because how the f*ck do you say that – made the hit of the summer, “Can’t Feel My Face,” and scored model Bella Hadid for a girlfriend. To put it lightly, the man is on top of the world.

But some people just don’t get it – and by “some people” I actually mean old people.

In a new YouTube video from Fine Brothers Entertainment, a bunch of old people are shown a few videos from The Weeknd and the majority of them leave pretty confused, especially about his hair. Except for this lady above, who straight-up busts a move. Gotta stay hip for the youngins!

Being a craft beer lover and one who is always out to try new craft brews. And when I can find a “new beer” from a craft brewery that I enjoy I try to contain both my excitement and expectations; too often a brewery’s consistency lacks from style to style or beer to beer. However, this weekend I am enjoying a beer from one of my favorite breweries that I have never tried before, until now. This weekend Bear Republic’s Hop Shovel is What’s on Tap!

[Editor’s note: There are literally zero photos of Hop Shovel online and our writer already recycled his bottles, so we apologize for using a basic image as the lead for this story…]

Currently America is in the middle of the IPA Renaissance. It seems more and more breweries are brewing IPAs and variations of the style. This is good because the number of IPAs to chose from are abundant however, just because there are more does not mean more is better. Despite not trying Hop Shovel, and only being familiar with Bear Republic’s Racer 5 IPA, I was curious to try another IPA from this west coast brewery.

Hop Shovel has the classic citrusy IPA aroma and flavors; tons of grapefruit, lime, and orange notes. The taste and mouth feel is complex and the citrus / hoppy flavors intermix with the subtle maltiness. The finish of each sip was mildly bitter and surprisingly smooth. After the pint I was surprised to find that Hop Shovel’s IBU (bitterness) was 100! (100 is high on the scale many IPAs sit between 70-95 with the most bitter between 100-110.)

If you are into IPAs make sure you give this one a try!

Stephen Colbert had it easy last night, since Jimmy Fallon couldn’t come up with a decent sketch idea for Christoph Waltz–but the Late Show host’s new series of Rejected TED Talks is still pretty great. The only problem is that we feel a little insulted that these are the kind of TED Talks that would really get our attention. One of the talks shown here is a concept that we’ve often pondered late at night. We put together a 135-picture gallery on it once and almost got fired, even though it only took two work days…

Texas Christian University is facing off against the Oklahoma State University Cowboys today–and, in a very nice gesture unveiled by the TCU Equipment Twitter account, the TCU team is wearing the Kneeling Cowboy sticker out of respect for the victims of the horrific car crash during the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade on October 24th.

Meanwhile, Payne County District Attorney Laura Thomas filed formal charges this week against 25-year-old Adacia Chambers–whop’s accused of running a red light, driving around a barricade, and then over a police motorcycle before crashing into the bystanders. That suddenly doesn’t seem like so long ago.

As for the game–well, at press time, it looks like OSU isn’t letting their appreciation for that kind gesture keep them from scoring a lot of points against their opposition.

The Hateful Eight would’ve been the biggest big deal new trailer this week if a certain space saga hadn’t busted out with a surprise trailer. There’s also been a few other great sightings of guy films, and we have them all here–plus a member of The Hateful Eight popping up again…

Star Wars: The Force Awakens [International Trailer]

Yes, we were told that there wouldn’t be any more The Force Awakens trailers, but the Star Wars empire (and J.J. Abrams) like to lie about things. This one has better sound than the official USA trailers, plus a few new images.We think that TIE fighters shot is new, and Japanese subtitles always make things look cooler to film geeks (like us)…..

Warcraft

We know that director Duncan Jones is a big deal (and we know who his dad is, yeah)–but this trailer for one of the decade’s most anticipated video-game adaptations isn’t exactly the epic greatness that we were expecting. Maybe it’s just looking too much like a CGI cartoon right now. Some IMAX screenings in 3D would probably help. At least it can’t end up in Battleship territory……

London Has Fallen

In London for the Prime Minister’s funeral, Mike Banning discovers a plot to assassinate all the attending world leaders. Meanwhile, some guy back at HQ shakes his head and says, “Damn, I haven’t seen an agent with kind of bad luck since John McClane…”

And while Samuel L. Jackson already got The Hateful Eight this week, he also appears in this new trailer for Spike Lee’s film about hard life in Chicago. Sam seems to like to work for directors who cops don’t like. Spike’s fallen on hard times lately, but this should help him make a comeback, along with an honorary Academy Award coming up. Could be a good film, too. He can still make good films….

Final- Clemson 23, Florida State 13

The Tigers improve to 9-0 and clinch the ACC Atlantic Division title with the win. Deshaun Watson finishes 28-for-42 for 297 yards through the air and adds 107 yards on the ground in a complete balanced effort from the quarterback. Wayne Gallman rushed 22 times for 103 yards for Clemson as well to compliment Watson’s effort. Florida State falls to 7-2 with the loss as Dalvin Cook ends up with 194 rushing yards after having 111 on his first two carries of the afternoon.

4th Quarter- Clemson 23, Florida State 13: The Tigers get a 25-yard touchdown run by Wayne Gallman and appear to be on their way to victory with 2:34 to go in the game.

4th Quarter- 3:20 left: Clemson is facing 3rd down with a chance to take more time off the clock looking to avoid having Florida State getting one final possession.

4th Quarter- 6:17 left: Cook stopped on 4th-and-1 in a key spot.

4th Quarter– Florida State starts at the Clemson 49 on this possession after a big kickoff return.

4th Quarter- Clemson 16, Florida State 13: Huegel hits a 34-yard field goal to break the deadlock with 7:23 to play in regulation. It will be interesting to see if Maguire and Florida State can rally again on the road.

4th Quarter- 12:06 left: The Seminoles are on the drive. Cook is up to 194 yards rushing and have a call overturned when it appears Maguire fumbled but it was called a forward incomplete pass.

End of 3rd Quarter: 15 minutes to go and a tie game. Deshaun Watson is 18-for-30 for 197 yards for the Tigers at quarterback while Sean Maguire is 11-for-19 for 114 yards and an interception for the Seminoles. Watson has also rushed for 82 yards to lead Clemson as well.

3rd Quarter- 5:20 left: Cook has 183 yards rushing on 16 carries for Florida State while Watson has thrown for 192 yards for Clemson.

3rd Quarter- Clemson 13, Florida State 13: Aguayo ties the game with a 41-yard field goal with 6:15 to go in the quarter. 21 minutes of excitement to come from Death Valley as the rain starts to fall.

3rd Quarter- Clemson 13, Florida State 10: The Tigers take the lead for the first time all afternoon as Watson finds Deon Cain for a 38-yard touchdown with 10:01 left in the quarter. A big score for the Tigers after being stopped a ton in the first half.

3rd Quarter- 12:23 left: Both teams go 3-and-out to start the second half. A quiet beginning to what could be a very exciting final 27 minutes of football.

Halftime- Florida State 10, Clemson 6

Dalvin Cook has 157 yards rushing on 12 carries to lead the Seminoles through the first 30 minutes of action. Sean Maguire has struggled to a point and has just 51 yards passing and may head up seeing the bench in the second half. For the Tigers, Deshaun Watson is 12-for-21 passing for 124 yards and 46 yards rushing while Wayne Gallman has 32 yards rushing for Clemson. Jordan Leggett has four catches for 72 yards. A low-scoring first half after the excitement of the first 45 seconds.

2nd Quarter- Florida State 10, Clemson 6: Huegel hits a 25-yard field goal with 29 seconds left after Watson spiked the football to stop the clock not knowing what down it was clearly. A costly mistake for Watson and the Tigers.

2nd Quarter- 2:57 left: The Clemson offense is moving the ball but can’t seem to get close enough to get into scoring range as they try to tie the game before halftime but get stopped on fourth down.

2nd Quarter- 5:57 left: Cook is now up to 150 rushing yards on ten carries. Clemson is having trouble slowing him down.

2nd Quarter- Florida State 10, Clemson 3: Roberto Aguayo makes a 23-yard field goal as the Seminoles can’t score in the red zone with 10:59 to play before halftime.

End of 1st Quarter– Cook has six carries for 128 yards so far for Florida State to go with his long touchdown run early on. Deshaun Watson is 5-for-10 passing for 54 yards while Wayne Gallman has rushed for 26 yards on seven carries for Clemson through 15 minutes.

1st Quarter- Florida State 7, Clemson 3: A 31-yard field goal by Greg Huegel gets the Tigers closer who had their drive extended by another third-down penalty by Florida State.

1st Quarter- 3:22 left: Clemson will take over at their own 42 after stopping Florida State on their latest possession. This is a drive that needs to finish with a score especially with great field possession.

1st Quarter- 8:37 left: Seminoles had Clemson stopped by a late hit on Deshaun Watson out of bounds on third down allowed the drive to continue.

1st Quarter- 10:05 left: The Seminoles march within yards of making it a two-score game but Maguire throws an interception to Adrian Baker at the Clemson 5.

1st Quarter- Cook’s first two runs go for 75 and 36 yards. Two carries, 111 yards. Yikes….

1st Quarter- Florida State 7, Clemson 0: That’s the way to quiet a crowd while being on the road as Cook goes off for a 75-yard touchdown run just 45 seconds into this game. A crazy way to start to say the least.

Pregame

One of the biggest matchups of the weekend is in Death Valley as the Clemson Tigers, No. 1 team in the latest college football playoff rankings, faces off against the Florida State Seminoles at home. Florida State won’t announce much about Everett Golson or Dalvin Cook’s availability or playing time for this game but it appears to be a perfect day for football in a game where Clemson can clinch a spot in the Atlantic Coast Conference title game. Sean Maguire will start for the Seminoles.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish came into Saturday’s game on the road against the Pittsburgh Panthers knowing that they were likely going to have to win out if they wanted to make the college football playoff. DeShone Kizer took it upon himself to make sure that the Irish were going to continue on their quest toward that goal as he accounted for all six Notre Dame touchdowns for the day during a 42-30 victory that boosted the Irish to 8-1 for the season. It all started early as Kizer hit Will Fuller for a 47-yard touchdown pass just 1:11 into the game. Kizer added a touchdown pass to Torii Hunter Jr. in the second quarter before hitting Fuller again with 1:35 left in the first half to give Notre Dame a 21-3 halftime lead. The onslaught continued as the Kizer/Fuller connection hit for a third time midway through the third quarter. Pittsburgh would respond on a second touchdown run by Jordan Whitehead to make a 28-17 going into the fourth quarter but Kizer would throw a touchdown pass to Josh Adams early in the fourth quarter and then added a rushing touchdown of his own later on for his sixth touchdown of the game.

Kizer finished 19-for-25 passing for 262 yards and the five touchdown passes. Adams rushed for 147 yards on 20 carries after taking over for an injured C.J. Prosise. Fuller finished with seven catches for 152 yards and three touchdowns. Nathan Peterman had a rough day for the Panthers, going 12-for-31 passing for 223 yards, a touchdown and an interception but led the team in rushing with 60 yards on the ground. Notre Dame will host Wake Forest next week while Pittsburgh will go on the road to face Duke.

Nina Agdal is modeling the new Mystery bra for the Leonisa lingerie line, and that reminds us that we’re very open-minded and not just committed to ladies working the Victoria’s Secret lingerie line. In fact, we encourage all models to keep expanding their horizons and work for every lingerie line available. Especially now that we’re getting videos like Nina’s, too…

The only mystery to that video is that the shots are using such a soft focus. We saw Nina out in public a few months ago. She doesn’t need soft focus. Save that stuff for Jane Fonda and Barbra Streisand.

4th Quarter- Alabama 30, LSU 10: Griffith hits his third field goal for the night with a 30-yard kick and the Crimson Tide lead is extended to 20 as they solidify their hold on a place in the college football playoff with 12:45 to play.

End of 3rd Quarter: The Crimson Tide are dominating play. Henry has 127 yards rushing through three quarters. Fournette has just 13 yards rushing on 15 carries while Brandon Harris is 4-for-15 passing for 100 yards for LSU.

3rd Quarter- Alabama 27, LSU 10: Henry walks in for his third touchdown of the night and he now has 116 rushing yards for the Crimson Tide. It appears like this game is over the way the Alabama defense is playing.

3rd Quarter- 3:37 left: The Crimson Tide is mere yards away from probably putting this game away late in the third quarter.

3rd Quarter- 6:20 left: Alabama nearly fumbles the ball away but Henry jumped on it quickly.

3rd Quarter- 10:15 left: LSU has to punt as Fournette continues to be bottled up by Alabama. Fournette has 8 yards rushing on 12 carries.

3rd Quarter- Alabama 20, LSU 10: Derrick Henry scores his second touchdown of the game on an one-yard run to make it a two-possession game again for the Crimson Tide with 13:00 left in the quarter.

3rd Quarter- 14:56 left: First play of the second half for LSU and it is an interception for Dillon Lee off of a Harris pass. Alabama with a chance to extend their lead.

Halftime: Alabama 13, LSU 10

A battle of great running games has led to a three-point game after 30 minutes of play. Leonard Fournette is stuck at nine yards rushing while Brandon Harris has 24 yards on the ground from the quarterback position but is just 3-for-9 passing for LSU. Jake Coker is 9-for-14 through the air for 86 yards while Derrick Henry has carried the ball 15 times for 90 yards for Alabama.

2nd Quarter- Alabama 13, LSU 10: Griffith hits a 55-yard field goal as time begins to run down in the first half to give the Crimson Tide the lead with 14 seconds to go.

2nd Quarter- Alabama 10, LSU 10: Trent Domingue makes a 40-yard field goal to tie the game up with 2:22 left in the first half. Leonard Fournette has 9 yards on 9 carries….

2nd Quarter- 3:48 left: Crimson Tide go quietly after the LSU touchdown. Tigers get the ball back with a chance to take the lead before halftime.

2nd Quarter- Alabama 10, LSU 7: The Tigers come up with a huge answer as Travin Dural hauls in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Brandon Harris. Suddenly, it’s a game again.

2nd Quarter- 6:35 left: Fournette has only eight yards rushing on eight carries as the Alabama defense has completely stopped the nation’s leading rusher.

2nd Quarter- Alabama 10, LSU 0: Derrick Henry goes in from two yards out and the Crimson Tide continue their domination of this game so far.

2nd Quarter-8:54 left: Henry goes off on a huge 40-yard run to get down to the LSU 2-yard line. The first big play of the game.

2nd Quarter- Alabama 3, LSU 0: Adam Griffith makes a 22-yard field goal to break the scoreless tie as the Crimson Tide dent the scoreboard with 11:08 left in the first half.

2nd Quarter- 13:45 left: Alabama goes for it on 4th down again in LSU territory but Henry gets the first down.

End of 1st Quarter: A scoreless first 15 minutes between two great defensive teams. Fournette has five yards rushing on five carries for LSU while Derrick Henry has 30 yards on the ground over his eight carries for Alabama. Coker is 5-for-8 for 42 yards.

1st Quarter- 1:27 left: The Tigers can’t capitalize on the big play and pin Alabama inside their own 10-yard line late in the quarter.

1st Quarter- 3:00 left: LSU takes two straight delay of game penalties pinned against the goal line. Lucky they didn’t give up a safety in the process but get huge catch from Travin Dural.

1st Quarter- 6:02 left: Alabama is moving the ball but can’t get across midfield on this possession and is forced to punt but pins LSU back around their 11-yard line.

1st Quarter- 9:52 left: LSU goes nowhere on their first drive. Just one carry from Leonard Fournette in the process.

1st Quarter- 11:38 left: Alabama goes for it on 4th-and-1 at the LSU 31 and gets stopped as Jake Coker can’t find enough running room.

Pregame

The last weeks of the Big 12 Conference season are going to be full of huge games. The TCU Horned Frogs hit the road to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who wanted to make a statement about their chances to make the college football playoff on Saturday afternoon. The Cowboys jumped all over the Horned Frogs behind quarterback Mason Rudolph and ended the undefeated run of TCU with a 49-29 win to improve to 9-0 for the season. Rudolph was about as dominant as they get with five touchdown passes and 352 yards passing including three touchdowns to James Washington.

Four minutes into the game, Rudolph hit Washington for a 48-yard touchdown pass. Five minutes later after TCU scored a touchdown of their own, Rudolph found Washington again from 50 yards out to make it a 14-6 game. Rudolph added two touchdown passes in the second quarter and it was a 28-9 Cowboys lead at the half. J.W. Walsh rushed for a score from one yard out just three minutes into the second half and the lead increased to 35-9 and it looked like TCU was done for the day.

Trevone Boykin, who threw for 445 yards for the Horned Frogs, scored from one yard out midway through the third quarter to pull TCU closer but two plays later, Rudolph found Washington for a third time on a 74-yard pass and it was a 42-16 game going into the fourth quarter. The Horned Frogs would score twice in the final quarter to make the final score more respectable but it was a dominating effort from Oklahoma State in proving that they are a team to reckon with.

The Cowboys will play next week at Iowa State before finishing their season with home games against Baylor and Oklahoma. TCU will go home to face Kansas before they finish their season with a road game at Oklahoma and a home date with Baylor.

The Ohio State Buckeyes looked at the scoreboard in the fourth quarter of their game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers and noticed that they had the East Division lead to themselves after Michigan State lost to Nebraska. After a slow start, Cardale Jones and Ohio State were able to put together enough offense to get past a pesky Minnesota team during a 28-14 victory to move to 9-0 for the season.

After a scoreless first 25 minutes, the Buckeyes got on the board when Vonn Bell intercepted Mitch Leidner and returned it 16 years for a touchdown. Ezekiel Elliott added a 15-yard score with under a minute to go in the first half to make it a 14-0 lead at the intermission.

Ohio State added a touchdown pass from Jones to Michael Thomas but couldn’t put the Golden Gophers away as Minnesota scored two fourth quarter touchdowns including a ten-yard pass from Leidner to Still with 2:10 left to make it a seven-point game. Jones would take one in from 38 yards out however shortly thereafter to extend the lead back to two scores.

Jones finished 12-for-22 for 187 yards through the air and 65 yards on the ground while Elliott carried the ball 26 times for 114 yards. Leidner was 27-for-44 for 281 yards and two touchdowns for Minnesota. KJ Maye had ten catches for 116 yards as Leidner’s favorite receiver.

Minnesota fell to 4-5 for the season with the loss but showed that they could hang with the big boys and will play at Iowa next week looking for another chance at beating an undefeated team. The Buckeyes will hit the road to play Illinois.

The sixth BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards will take place on Sunday, November 8, at London’s SSE Arena at 3 p.m. GMT. The show honors the United Kingdom’s young artists, athletes, entertainers and more. BBC host Nick Grimshaw will host the show, which will give out awards for best British solo artist, best British group, best British vlogger, best British TV show and best film.

Radio 1’s Teen Awards will also be live streamed on the Radio 1 website, and will be available to watch in full on Radio 1’s BBC iPlayer channel, with highlights on Radio 1’s YouTube channel.

Highlights from 2014’s Awards

Saturday Night Live returned with a guaranteed ratings-buster in host Donald Trump–and if the writers were trying to give his Presidential opponents some ammunition, then they probably came closest with the inevitable SNL “Hotline Bling” dance parody. Never mind that it’s increasingly painful how SNL has become a pathetic wrap-up of the week’s top memes redone in a lesser style. They got Donald Trump to dance to “Hotline Bling,” along with some other impressive names…

Otherwise, things were uneventful. Trump survived nicely, and the momentum keeps rolling. Thomas Almeida went all Ronda Rousey last night at UFC Fight Night 77 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The popular Bantamweight ended his fight against Anthony Birchak at just 4:23 minutes into the first round. That continued an undefeated streak against a guy who recently surprised the UFC with a surprise win against Joe Soto. Yeah, that kind of thing didn’t happen again.

Birchak came out strong, though. Almeida still managed to make a dramatic rally that ended up in what’s probably going to remain the top knockout of the year. Take a look over and over again. We’re sure Birchak is still trying to figure out what happened…

Jennifer Lawrence hit the red carpet this week for the world premieres of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2–and she made sure those final big openings were memorable with plenty of big openings in her dresses. This video has a guy who’s seemingly a McDonald’s manager seemingly taunting a homeless guy with a free meal before tossing water on the poor man. Yeah, that’s not right. We’re usually not one to jump in on the next big internet crowd with pitchforks and torches, but we’re not going to get too upset over this McDonald’s guy catching a lot of heat over the next few hours.

He seems to have creepy friends, too. It’s not like we’re inviting homeless guys into our homes or anything, but we’re pretty sure it takes a special kind of creep to make a homeless guy go out of his way to get abused in hopes of a free meal. This loser would be in an ATV chasing Ice-T around on a deserted island if he had his way. If you don’t get that reference, that’s cool. We’re just saying that we’ve been concerned about the plight of the homeless since 1994….

Suzy Cortez officially won the Miss BumBum Brazil 2015 pageant in the Final Competition tonight. Suzy placed above four other finalists and wins a prize of endorsement deals that total $50K for her amazing butt.

According to a poorly translated article, this year’s Miss BumBum Brazil featured two different wardrobes: Formal Wear (in which apparently some contestants just ignored underwear because Brazil) and Swimsuit, which also doubled as the talent portion. According to photos, it looks like Suzy might have done a little dance.

Haters might say that Suzy’s lack of underwear or point to the fact that she showed her nips during the initial introduction as unfair attempts to gain the judges’ favor, but let’s keep in mind exactly what kind of competition we’re talking about here. It’s Miss BumBum Brazil 2015. The butts do the talking here.

Photographed by Victor Demarchelier, it’s evident that the model has come a long way since her Sports Illustrated days. Although honestly, we’ll take both… especially the swimsuit edition.
