Halo 5 Guardians

The past few days have seen launches of some of gamedom’s most successful and enduring franchises. With Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which hit shelves Friday, the series goes back to its single-player origins rather than squandering resources on hit-or-miss multiplayer that failed to capture the spark of the main campaign. And yesterday saw the release of Halo 5: Guardians, the stunning current-gen debut that capitalizes on the promise of last year’s Xbox One remasters of the previous mainline series games in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Also back from the dead is Guitar Hero, which reinvents itself by taking cues from streaming music services and delivering a more authentic axe in Guitar Hero Live.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

(Xbox One, PS4, $60, Mature)

The annual series makes its strongest showing in years, doing away with the usually superfluous multiplayer mode to take a long, hard focus on the single-player campaign. Set in Victorian London, the plot plays out as an ongoing gang war, as you guide twin assassins through a gradual takeover of each of the rapidly industrializing city’s boroughs. Just as in Grand Theft Auto V, you can toggle between the two characters — one male and one female — at almost any moment. Missions take you on footraces atop trains, underneath the city in the murky sewer system and into the guts of gigantic factories. As usual in the series, there are a ton of historical figures you bump into, start rivalries with and enlist as allies. Charles Darwin, Charles Dickens and Alexander Graham Bell. Humorous, poignant writing gives each of the characters and events a flavor and resonance documentaries can’t touch.

The past couple Assassin’s Creed games had been plagued with glitches at launch, but Syndicate is as polished as any game in the series. The setting may be one of the driest taken on by the globe and timeline-hopping franchise, but it makes up for the lack of pep and wonder by digging more deeply into details that establish the setting in convincing ways. The voice acting, motion capture and facial expressions are some of the most masterful I’ve seen in a video game, making it feel as though you’re playing through a PBS series more than a digital stalk-and-kill-fest. Both mainline and side missions are varied and elegant, and the open world teems with buried secrets and Easter eggs. The overall plot of the series has been chasing its tail for years, and has long since been lost in nonsense, but that doesn’t matter because the protagonists are so relatable that you care enough for them to see their story through.

Guitar Hero Live

Guitar Hero Live

(Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, $100, Teen)

Shaking up what it means to be a music game, Guitar Hero Live takes cues from the likes of Apple Music and Spotify, unleashing a neverending stream of music that you can sample in various free and pay formats. Dubbed Guitar Hero TV, the seamlessly-integrated online mode that lets you use credits you can buy or earn by in-game success to unlock individual song plays or blocks of time. As you rock out, you can keep your eye on a chart on the corner of the screen that tracks how you’re doing on the particular song’s leaderboards. Innovation bleeds from every corner of the game, from the design of the new guitar, which has six buttons meant to imitate the fingering you need to play chords on a real instruments, to the menus and visuals.

The main campaign has also been overhauled, doing away with dopey animations in favor of real-life crowds who cheer or grumble at you depending on how accurate you are with your note strumming. What could have been a cheesy throwaway ends up paying off in a major way, making it feel as though you’re in front of a crowd. If you thought it hurt to be booed off the stage after a screwup, try picking yourself up to play the next song on your set list after failing onstage and staring out into a sea of disapproving faces. This feels like less of a sequel than a wholesale reinvention. With an endless stream of new songs continuing to pipe in viva Guitar Hero TV, this is a game that will stay fresh and vital for months to come.

Halo 5

Halo 5: Guardians

(Xbox One, $60, Mature)

Making its long-awaited currrent-gen debut, the hallmark shooter franchise turns the standards storytelling on its head. Do-everything megahero Master Chief is now just a cog in a larger saga, teaming with three other Spartans who do battle with not only Covenant forces but brothers in arms. The story swaps back between the point of view of him and his crew to a rival faction headed up by Locke, who is convinced that Master Chief has gone rogue and must be stopped cold. Far more team-based than the previous games’ lone wolf-favoring mechanics, you need to coordinate with your player or AI-coordinated teammates. When you die, you can call for a quick revival, making it so you almost never find yourself restarting missions.

Multiplayer has also been touched up, granted e-sports-friendly balance and customization options the previous games had. The tight, effective matchmaking and well-honed lobby system Halo games have had for more than a decade are more refined and smooth, creating an addictive upgrade loop that makes it easy to lose hours more than you planned on when you sit down for “just a match or two.” New modes shake up old paradigms, providing plenty to explore and develop new strategies to master. The level-building Forge map is more comprehensive than ever, letting you take on a series of tools so vast and varied that you feel like you’re getting as much to work with as the developers themselves. While the campaign and multiplayer gameplay remains steadfastly old-school, there’s enough freshness here to make Halo seem as vital as it did in its Xbox 360 days.

World Series Game 1: Game Recap, Stats & Highlights

World Series Game 1 recap

There are many ways to describe Game 1 of the 2015 World Series. Weird, wacky and exciting may be three words that are about right. The television feed for fans went out which may be overshadowed the biggest play of the game as Curtis Granderson’s fifth inning home run may go down as “The Shot Not Seen Around the World”. However, as the 1 o’clock hour passed in the Eastern time zone, the Kansas City Royals benefitted from a David Wright error to score the winning run in the 14th inning to score a 5-4 win and 1-0 series lead on the New York Mets.

Alcides Escobar reached on a throwing error by Wright to begin the inning off Bartolo Colon which was followed by a Ben Zobrist single. After Lorenzo Cain was intentionally walked to load the bases, Eric Hosmer hit a sacrifice fly to score Escobar with the winning win at 12:19am Central time in Kansas City. Chris Young got the win after pitching three scoreless innings in relief which puts his Game 4 starting availability in question.

The Royals and Escobar would start the game off with a bang however as Escobar hit Matt Harvey’s first pitch to deep center field where Yoenis Cespedes misplayed it into the first inside-the-park home run in a World Series game since 1929 which gave Kansas City a 1-0 lead behind Edinson Volquez, whose father died earlier in the day.

The Mets would tie it in the fourth inning however on an infield single by Travis d’Arnaud which scored Daniel Murphy. Granderson would then hit a shot out to right field off Volquez and Michael Conforto would add a sacrifice fly in the sixth to give the Mets a 3-1 lead which seemed safe with Matt Harvey on the mound. The Royals though would rally in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Eric Hosmer and a RBI single by Mike Moustakas to tie the game at 3. Harvey and Volquez each pitched six innings, giving up three runs apiece.

In the eighth inning, the Mets caught a break when Hosmer committed a key error at first base allowing Juan Lagares to score making it a 4-3 ballgame. Mets closer Jeurys Familia came in looking to lock the game down but Alex Gordon hit a one-out, game-tying home run in the bottom of the 9th to force extra innings.

slut shaming

An Aussie is currently faces charges of menacing and harassing use of a carriage service for verbally attacking a woman and her friends on social media.

It all started with Olivia Melville’s Tinder profile, which had the following tagline: “The type of girl that will suck you dry and then eat some lunch with you.”

In other words, the type of girl that every guy wants to date. Leaving that aside, somebody named Chris Hall took a screenshot of her profile and posted it on his Facebook page with the caption: “stay classy ladies… I’m surprised she’d still be hungry for lunch.”

Numerous people commented on the post and got enough shares that Melville eventually saw it. Naturally she was offended, and reposted it with the offensive comments attached.

That’s when Melville’s friend, Paloma Brierley Newton, came to her defense. Unsurprisingly, she became the target of harassment as well, particularly from some guy names  Zane Alchin, who listed constant insults on the comment feed. Newton fought back with full force.

“When men shame you, it feels pretty gross and awful. For me, I felt angry, I can’t speak for Olivia, but when this individual posted things with my photo on the comment thread with things like ‘kill it before it breeds’ I literally saw red,” Newton said. “Men will shame women to try and shut them up, bring them down and stop them from having a voice.

“I stood up for my friend because I believe when you see an injustice you do something, if you see something horrible happening to someone else and you don’t do anything, you are being compliant in that awful thing,” Newton said. “When you do something you are helping to effect actual social change. Social change is what we need in order to have sexual equality.”

Newton started a campaign to raise awareness of what happened and, in response, police showed up at Alchin’s house and charged him with using a carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offense. He will appear in court on October 29.

“I’m happy this has been taken seriously but I’m also aware that it has been taken seriously due to huge public outcry … We’re standing up because we are lucky enough to be able to and we want to create social change, so that people who aren’t in our position never find themselves in a situation where they’ve been harassed but don’t feel like they have anyone to turn to,” Newton said.

Newton says that she wants men to understand that their words can have an effect on others — even when they’re online.

“The Internet is not an invisibility cloak, behind every computer is a living breathing human being who has feelings and emotions,” she said. “The Internet is not a fake place, it is a very real place and it actually makes harassment and shaming huge. We don’t do things online or offline anymore, we just do things and we need to be responsible for how we treat people.”

Between appearing in numerous TV shows and showing off her talents in a numerous films, Jessica Lowndes tops it all off talent-wise with an incredible singing voice. But of all the talents that this gorgeous brunette possesses, her hotness is by far one of her biggest attention grabbers.

Earning herself a spot on People magazine’s list of World’s Most Beautiful People of 2009, and ranking 58th on Buddy Tv’s 100 Sexiest Women of 2011, it’s pretty safe to say that we aren’t the only ones mesmerized by this woman’s sexiness.

University of the Incarnate Word Gunman Sighting Reported

UIW Gunman
University of the Incarnate Word, located in San Antonio, Texas, was on high alert last night after a sighting of a gunman was reported to authorities.

UIW Police Chief Robert Chavez said the department received two calls last night about a person dressed in black and carrying a gun on campus around 5:39 p.m. For two hours the school was on high alert, while campus police and other local police departments, as well as an SAPD helicopter, searched school grounds and the surrounding area for the possible gunman.

“We took every precaution calling SAPD, DPS and nearby agencies … using spotters and (officers) who went through the campus,” Chavez said.

Just before 7 p.m. school authorities sent students and faculty an emergency text saying, “Suspected armed individual reported on campus near Joeris. Take caution.”

Roughly thirty minutes later an additional message was sent stating, “Authorities have searched campus and surrounding area. No suspect has been found to support report. Campus not on lockdown.”

According to My San Antonio,

Chavez said the photo of a man with a gun that was circulating on social media and depicted as the possible gunman was actually a spotter looking for the suspect. He added that the university of about 10,000 students was never on lockdown because no one in law enforcement could confirm a shooter’s presence. However students and a message from the Alamo Heights Police Department referred to it as a lockdown.

Better to be safe than sorry, we suppose, especially since later that night more reports were made.

Police returned after a member of the cleaning crew reportedly saw a man pulling on a door. A lockdown was reported on their Twitter shortly after.

After watching surveillance footage, police found that the man spotted by the cleaning crew was a campus police officer doing a security check by pulling the door’s handle. Thankfully everyone is safe, but the students had one hell of a night last night. We hope it doesn’t continue on today.

The threat comes on the heels of yesterday’s anonymous online threat against Ohio State University.

Wildest Halloween College Parties-FT2

Halloween is one of the biggest excuses to party all year, so we’re not breaking any news when we tell you that college students are going to party–especially when the holiday lands on a Saturday.

But what we are going to do is break down which schools are going to rage the hardest on October 31st, that way if you’re unhappy with the festivities around you and you have friends in better places, you can pack your costume and hit the road in search of a wilder time.

SIU Unofficial Halloween

Unofficial Halloween

School: Southern Illinois University

Everyone knows that Southern Illinois University loves to get the party started early. So while the bad news is that Unofficial Halloween has already come and gone, the good news is that other schools know how high the bar is set.

Unofficial Halloween is like a bar crawl of sorts, with different deals set up at bars and restaurants throughout the city of Carbondale, IL. “Unofficial” originated 15 years ago because the city put the kabosh on parties on Halloween Weekend, but that ban has actually been lifted this year.

So is Carbondale ready for another wild weekend? Our money is on “yes.”

FreakFest

FreakFest

School: University of Wisconsin-Madison

Wisconsin is a great school with a great academic reputation, but you can’t (and shouldn’t) mention Wisco without talking about their parties.

And when it comes to parties, Halloween at Wisconsin is top dog. The students and Madison locals all come together for Freakfest: a massive block party that brings in some solid musical talent. This year the festival’s headliners are TimeFlies.

Obviously temperatures are going to be a little chilly, so don’t be surprised when you see a bunch of college kids wearing beer jackets.

HallOUween

School: Ohio University

Somehow Ohio University always ends up on our lists when we’re talking about biggest parties and Halloween is no exception. Their annual HallOUween block party starts early in the day and ends with a concert that will be hosted by Red Cup Nation later that night.

Rice Night of Decadence

Night of Decadence

School: Rice University

The annual Night of Decadence party (or “NOD”) is the single biggest social event of the year for Rice University students. Every year, the parties seem to run along some kind of sexual theme (the students move an enormous phallus around campus in the week leading up to the party) and this year’s “Mount My Olympus” is no different.

This is awesome, but remember that this event is for Rice students only.

Appalachian State Library

No good deed goes unpunished, as this one Appalachian State student found out when he had the nerve to hold a library door open for a woman. (But before we begin, can I just say how impressed I am with Appalachian State’s library building? That thing is gorgeous.)

This story comes to us via a Facebook status that was posted to TFM yesterday afternoon.

Appalachian State Fraternity Door Holding

OK OK, obviously this is an extreme case (if it’s real at all) and that this feminist here is insane, but WTF people?

I’m pretty sure that by virtue of the fact that you’re reading COED you’re probably not the most anti-fraternity person in the world, but just keep sh*t like this in mind when everyone grabs their pitchforks when someone in Greek Life does something unfortunate.

It’s not just frat stars who make poor decisions.

Hillary Clinton 2016 Platforms: On The Issues & Her Views

$

Democratic Candidate Issues

In 2008, President Barack Obama rallied the youth and got a whopping 51% of 18-29 year old’s to the polls, a big reason for his eventual success. In 2012 that number fell to 45%. In 2014 –  a midterm year generally known for it’s less-than-impressive voter turnout – that statistic plummeted to just 19.9%. These figures, put together by CIRCLE, – a site which looks at voter turnout and civic involvement – highlight a very real problem for college students and their opinions.

For former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, it will be all about trying to recapture what President Obama took from her in 2008. In 2007 while campaigning in a similar fashion to how she is now, Clinton carried leads in some states, but eventually lost the primary. This time around the former Senator of New York leads in the polls and is a clear frontrunner as the Democratic nominee. But why?

We’ve compiled the top seven issues that most affect college students and where where the candidates fall. First up, Hillary Clinton.

Bernie Sanders 2016 Platform: On The Issues & His Views

Hillary Clinton Student Debt, Tuition
Tuition Cost & Student Debt

Tuition cost and student debt are two things that have grown completely out of control, and pretty much every college student living in the United States can attest to that fact. Interest rates on student loans are skyrocketing, and evolving needs within the job market have made some degrees useless. Any politician looking to be taken seriously in 2016, especially when it comes to college students, is going to need a rock solid policy on tuition cost and the overwhelming growth of student debt.

In August, Clinton pointed out that, “We need to make a quality education affordable and available to everyone willing to work for it, without saddling them with decades of debt.” Her plan? What she refers to as the New College Compact, a program that makes everything from tuition, to books and fees more affordable for students and their families. As Clinton puts it, the program is made to make education “more realistic” for everyone.

Hillary Clinton Job Market
Jobs

Unemployment rates have approached and surpassed 50% in some urban areas, affecting a large group of minority millennials. For recent grads living in under their parents’ roof thanks to a heaping pile of student debt or the inability to find a legitimate job opportunity, a solid plan for fixing the job market is a top concern.

Clinton points out that she wants to invest in infrastructure, clean energy, and scientific and medical research to create more jobs. She also supports raising the minimum wage, making starter jobs more appealing than they’ve been in years.

Hillary Clinton Healthcare
Health Care

Most college students currently take advantage of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, better known to the public as Obamacare, and while the service is a great first step in solving the health care crisis, many candidates believe that it was only a partial step towards solving the problem.

Clinton wants to make health care more affordable for everyone – especially families. Her main goal is to limit out-of-pocket costs for individuals while continuing to uphold the the key principles of Obamacare. She also wants to reduce the cost of prescriptions and plans to accomplish these ideas by rewarding quality, and reforming policies that govern insurance providers, corporations, and drug manufacturers.

Hillary Clinton Women's Rights
Women’s Rights

Whether we’re talking about reproductive rights, equal pay, or better treatment at work as a whole — Hillary Clinton has been leading the fight on women’s rights. There’s no doubt that this is also one of the most-polarizing issues in the cycle, and for college students, especially as it pertains to advocating against sexual assault, this is an issue that will not tire as time goes on.

Clinton is a long-standing pro-choice candidate and general supporter of women’s rights. She is also in full support of Planned Parenthood and paid maternity leave.

Hillary Clinton Gun Control
Gun Control

No one wants to live through another tragedy like the one that recently took place in Tennessee, or the horrifying Oregon shooting earlier this year, and gun control has been a particular hotspot among 2016 presidential hopefuls. At this point, Clinton has gotten her point across flawlessly.

She wants more comprehensive background checks for patrons looking to purchase a gun. She has also threatened to close loopholes like the “Gun Show” loophole, which puts the same rules and regulations on sellers at gun shows as well as traditional stores. Needless to say, she’s definitely in favor of stricter gun laws.

Hillary Clinton Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana Legalization

While legalizing marijuana is important to some people, it especially hits closer to home for college students. Ironically enough though, legalizing marijuana is something that has remained somewhat polarizing despite the gains that legislation has made throughout the country in making the drug legal.

However, Clinton must have bigger fish to fry, because she’s stayed silent on whether or not she supports the legalization of marijuana. She has also denied ever using the drug.

Hillary Clinton LGBT Rights
LGBTQ Equality

Just like women’s rights, LGBTQ equality is something that has become increasingly important, particularly within the Democratic Party; Democrats have become the benchmark for fighting for equality within the LGBTQ community.

Clinton said in June that, “we should ban discrimination against LGBT Americans and their families so they can live, learn, marry, and work just like everybody else.” While no one within the Democratic Party will oppose this campaign, it will be a tough issue to force in the general election, as winning over moderate, or left-leaning conservatives is pivotal.

That’s exactly what they did and the fraternity successfully raised a ton of money for a fantastic cause: Awake Aware Alive. Check out a recap of the event in the awesome video below.

Awake Aware Alive is an organization that helps educate young people to recognize when their friends are either drunk or dying of alcohol poisoning. It’s a great cause and we’re stoked to see that Alpha Sigma Phi has signed on to support AAA as one of their five philanthropic beneficiaries.

As far as the tournament went, Delta Gamma came out on top but a big shout out also goes to Gamma Phi who seemingly made it to the championship round.

Anyway, Angelina is more than just a gorgeous face and hot body. The edgy starlet’s on-screen talent has kept us up at night… and not because we’d rather stay up thinking about her than sleeping.

We could talk about her incredible performances in films like Girl Interrupted, Wanted, and Salt, but the truth of the matter is Angelina Jolie is impressive all-around. Gorgeous, talented, and 100% seductive, this woman just may be the most gorgeous actress to ever live.

For college students casually paying attention to the presidential election cycle, this summer was all about Donald Trump. Dubbed the “Summer of Trump,” he quickly went from White House outsider, to dominant front-runner. After two debates, and with a third on the way, Donald Trump is still holding a lead, but is definitely less-commanding than he was a month or two ago.

Donald Trump: Memes, Funny Photos, Jokes & Images

There is a candor about his presidential campaign, though that makes many voters feel comfortable. His prowess comes from years working in the corporate world, and having a significant insight into the function of the business world. His political policies are vague, but the things we’ve learned about him, and candidates like him — such as Ben Carson — is that the disgruntled, ultra-conservative base, which supports these outsiders, are the lifeblood of modern campaigns.

Donald Trump Student Debt, Tuition
Tuition & Student Debt

For college students there isn’t any issue that’s more important that this one. They graduate from high school, attend a university, and then leave with more than $30,000 in debt, on average. The cost of higher education is a serious conversation piece in this election cycle, and candidates will have to take it very seriously to win the nomination, or general election a year from now.

Donald Trump believes that the Department of Education is too big, too strong, and has too much of an impact on tuition cost and student debt. He’s also not a fan of Common Core. While neither of these things give straightforward answers to his policy stance on tuition cost or student debt, it would appear as though he would be in favor of creating some form of regulatory setup to allow tuition costs and student debt to be reduced. Especially considering the majority of his views were once more towards the liberal side of the spectrum.

Donald Trump Job Market
Jobs

For any college student nearing graduation and realizing just how close they are to the proverbial unemployment line called “life,” this election cycle means a lot. While steady improvements have been made to the economy, many still believe that we have a ton of opportunity left on the table from the U.S. losing jobs overseas.

Donald Trump has made job creation one of his primary campaign points. However, he has said some things over the years that shed light on where he might fall as a candidate. He said in 2011 that raising taxes on businesses causes them to move jobs overseas. He also pointed out that the “real” unemployment rate is 20% – not 5.6% – over the summer. At the end of the day, you can say what you want about his business record, but the fact that he has actual experience in the business world does lend itself to a different perspective. He has suggested a complete overhaul of our tax code, which would allow for more business to be done here in the U.S.

Donald Trump Net Worth 2015: How Much is Trump Worth

Donald Trump Healthcare
Health Care

The Affordable Care Act is by far the biggest talking point on the Republican side of the table, and rightfully so, as any election cycle is about political competition. That being said, there are also serious cuts being talked about for social security programs that impact health – primarily Medicade and Medicare.

It’s difficult to read precisely where Donald Trump falls in the health care debate. However, he has said this cycle that Obamacare must go. While that probably doesn’t mean dropping insurance coverage for the 16+ million covered by the current service, it will have to mean changing something. That being said, he also believes that Medicade and Medicare should continue and not be stripped to nothing.

Donald Trump Women's Rights
Women’s Rights

The right to choose, to have contraceptives readily available by employer-provided health insurance, and generally speaking – the right to not be trampled on and treated like a second-class citizen – are important matters this election cycle. This is especially the case when the person you’re most-likely to be running against is a woman.

Donald Trump has repeatedly said that, “[he’d] be great for women,” but his very public mishaps with Megyn Kelly and Rosie O’Donnell say otherwise. Until Trump provides some substance on how he’d be great for women – and no, bathing your gorgeous supermodel wife with diamonds and riches is not the answer we’re looking for – the public’s confidence level should be relatively low on this one.

Donald Trump Gun Control
Gun Control

Gun control is important to college students and fair-minded adults alike. It’s easily one of the most-polarizing topics in the U.S., and even globally, as violence with guns ticks upward on a global scale. Now candidates are being pushed to weigh in on gun control, as it has been one of President Obama’s biggest failures to date. His desire to pass comprehensive gun control is a big one.

Donald Trump, like many Republicans, feels as though the problem lies with the government not enforcing laws that are currently on the books. He is considered a protector of the second amendment, and is in favor of overhauling our mental health system, which voters on both sides of the aisle feel is rather important. However, he does not agree with legislation aimed at restricting or limiting gun ownership in any way.

Donald Trump Marijuana Legalization
Marijuana Legalization

Legalizing marijuana is important because it impacts an issue that doesn’t seem to be as polarizing as it once might have been. Now, we’re closer than ever to being in a space where making it legal across the board — and ending the war on drugs seems attainable.

Donald Trump’s most insightful comment on marijuana legalization, or drugs in general, came in 1990 when he pointed out that we were losing the war on drugs. He went on to point out that taking away profits by making drugs legal, would be the only surefire way to end the illegal sale of drugs. He believed that by doing so, it would effectively put illegal drug businesses out of business. Spoken like a true businessman. But recently Trump passed on actually taking a firm stance on marijuana legalization at the federal level. At the state level, it seems as though a President Trump wouldn’t interfere with any state that chose to legalize marijuana.

Donald Trump LGBT Rights
LGBTQ Equality

This is probably the biggest traditional social issue out there this cycle. While some candidates, especially on the GOP side, have decided to take vocal, and often religiously seeded stances on this type of equality, others have remained silent.

Some have insinuated that Donald Trump might be the most-friendly GOP candidate to the LGBTQ community. That could be the case, but at the end of the day, he has remained largely silent on the issue this cycle.

Arizona Student Fired From Internship After Posting Racist Tweet

Erika Escalante Arizona Tweet

Some people are just plain stupid, like this student from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Arizona, who was dumb enough to post a racist tweet while interning for a huge local company.

Great idea, Erika! Be prepared to have a floodgate of prospective employers after you!

While meandering through a cotton field with her friend, the 20-year-old student took a few screengrabs and tweeted out this heartfelt message:

Arizona Racist Tweet

Smart.

The Spanish linguistics major said that it was meant to be a joke, but as we can all attest to, nothing ever dies in the hands of Twitter.

According to The Daily Mail,

A screen grab of the tweet she sent began circulating all over social media, so she decided to contact her supervisor’s at Isagneix, where she was a paid intern, to notify them of what happened.

‘We were shocked when we saw, it’s not what you would expect,’ Kevin Snyder, a representative for the company that makes health and wellness products, told KSAZ.

‘When I looked at it, I immediately knew we had to make a swift action. It was unanimous, it is a complete conflict of who we are, and what we stand for as a company, so within roughly two hours we ended our employment with her.’

The company later tweeted out an apology on Erika’s behalf, then hid their faces in shame for hiring someone with no more than half a brain cell.

University of Michigan Co-ed Posts 5,000 Fliers Accusing Football Player of Giving Her Chlamydia

A student at the University of Michigan posted 5,000 fliers around campus stating that Jabrill Peppers, who plays football for the Wolverines, gave her chlamydia.

Even worse: She says that he gave her the disease twice within the space of one year.

Now, she’s doing a service to the sisterhood on campus by alerting them to the fact that Peppers is capable of spreading STDs. With 5,000 fliers around the school, it’s likely that all the other co-eds got the message.

“Never would I have thought you to be this terrible of a person. I thought I knew you,” reads the message on the fliers. “This time, you need to beg God for forgiveness, because there isn’t any here for you.”

The student also explained that she could experience infertility because of the disease.

In response, Peppers did what students are doing best these days. He responded on social media.

It’s likely he’ll need that prayer to get another woman in his life after what this student did to his reputation. For right now, though, Peppers has a girlfriend who apparently predates this incident.

And the chlamydia-affected co-ed has some advice for her, too: “Tell your ‘girlfriend’ she might want to get checked too. Since I’m pretty sure you’re still using that, ‘I have to use certain condoms’ bullshit and never had them.”

Oof.

third republican debate

10:15p

The top-6 candidates, roughly, were the ones who saw the most success tonight. Possibly with exception to Jeb Bush. However, Bush was hurt most by his exchange early in the night with Rubio. That did really turn out to be the most-heated moment of the evening — excluding points where candidates or the crowd grew annoyed with the fact that the moderators were not doing a great job of keeping things organized or under control.

10:11p

Apparently Hillary Clinton has been “live texting” the GOP debate.

10:06p

“We’re going to make a really dynamic economy from what we have right now.” Donald Trump on how he plans to resolve issues with social security and medicare without actually cutting them, or taxing.

10:05p

Gov. Mike Huckabee says that it’s time to eradicate diseases like cancer, heart disease, and the other big ones on this front. It’s a great idea — but it’s contingent on finding a solution, and if a solution isn’t found — then it would be nullified.

10:01p

“If you’re not serious about raising the age, you’re not serious about fixing either.” -Sen. Rand Paul on fixing Medicare and Social Security.

9:56p

Gov. Chris Christie says that investing in all types of energy is crucial. Whether it’s solar, natural gas, wind, or anything else, Americans shouldn’t be letting the government fix global warming.

9:54p

Gov. John Kasich is selling a message to colleges and college students, which would completely change the way higher education happens. He says colleges should not be in the business of parking, housing, food, or anything else other than education.

Gov. Jeb Bush went along with this as well and pointed out that he had the lowest in-state tuition costs in his home state.

9:52p

Carly Fiorina says that she will go to bat for small businesses, and has used the word “crushed” to describe how many in the middle class, and small business owners feel.

9:45p

Gov. Chris Christie taking a direct shot at Pres. Obama over his lack-of-support for police officers. Gov. Mike Huckabee completely deflected a question aimed at starting a fight between he and Donald Trump — which saw a good ovation from the crowd and candidates.

9:40p

Gov. John Kasich said point blank that he does not support sending “mixed signals” to our kids about drugs of any kind. It sounds like he would not legalize marijuana to capture that revenue stream.

9:35p

If you’re a family of four and you make $40,000 a year, then you pay no taxes, according to Gov. Jeb Bush. Talking about tax plans in short snippets is generally bad because it’s impossible to properly explain an entire tax plan in 30 seconds. That makes a lot of the other conversation that is happening at this point, is worthless.

9:33p

Gov. Huckabee just compared the military blimp going down in Pennsylvania today to our government’s function over the last several years. Ouch.

9:24p

Donald Trump just denied that an article was published with him calling out Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. However, CNN Money reported just that over the summer.

9:18p

Just an update for those who might have thought that the moderators were getting better as the debate continued: They are not, and there’s still a lot more of this to go.

9:16p

“I believe our constitution protects everyone. I also believe marriage is between one man and one woman.” -Dr. Ben Carson

9:15p

“The struggle of single moms is extraordinary.” Sen. Ted Cruz points to the number of single mothers in his family. Pointing out that his mom, sister, and others were “single mothers.” Although, he was raised with a father after he was “born again.”

9:13p

You won’t see other GOP candidates call out Sen. Rubio for his “mismanagement of his personal finances,” because he has a net worth of just $100,000. Compare that to the competition within the GOP field and he is one of the only non-millionaires.

9:01p

“The middle class has $2,300 less in their pockets than the day Pres. Obama was elected.” Claim made by Gov. Jeb Bush regarding the state of our economy, and then made an awkward statement about giving a Democrat a “warm kiss.” Most of that answer was a miss.

8:56p

The first break of the GOP debate on CNBC and it’s hard to tell at this point who is leading. Rubio, Cruz, Fiorina and Christie have all had substantive comments with good receptions thus far. Bush lost some more ground, and it would appear as though Trump and Carson are acting like front runners so far.

8:54p

Gov. Mike Huckabee is making up for his lack of face time by making a bizarre comparison of a large man, a sack of donuts, and social security. I’m not even sure PolitiFact could have circled back on that one.

8:52p

“The government has lied to you, and the government has stolen from you.” -Gov. Chris Christie’s grim outlook of social safety nets that exist around the U.S. right now.

8:49p

Sen. Ted Cruz just defended every candidate on stage, and is now getting into a shouting match with the moderators. That exchange likely helped his overall stock though. He pointed out that he doesn’t believe any of the moderators will vote in a “single Republican Primary.” Probably the most-accurate statement of the night thus far.

Carly Fiorina just made a phenomenal point about politicians being held to the same criminal standard of liability as CEO’s are to their companies when they report earnings.

8:38p

Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Jeb Bush just got into the most heated debate of the night thus far. However, the debate continues to be overshadowed at this point by shoddy moderation.

8:33p

“His poll numbers tanked, that’s why he’s at the end.” Donald Trump, speaking of John Kasich and his fact-checked success in Ohio with state debt.

8:30p

Ben Carson is being raked over the coals on his tithing tax plan. Gov. John Kasich is going rogue over the “fantasy” that he says has become the Republican Party and politics in general. However, his track record is accurate. He moved Ohio from an $8 million deficit to a $2 million surplus.

8:20p

The first question was answered by approximately 50% of the candidates. Those who answered it most effectively were the individuals in the top-4. Carly Fiorina made a statement about stagnant job growth that was proven to be mostly false, according to Politifact and was used almost verbatim in 2014 by Herman Cain.

8:09p

The debate hasn’t officially begun, but we will be covering the debate live throughout the rest of the evening, with some of the best and worst of the evening. Stay tuned!
