People are in an uproar after watching video of Officer Ben Fields, a Deputy in Columbia, South Carolina, throw a female high school student like a rag doll when she refused to leave the classroom. Of course, the whole thing was being filmed. It’s being called the #AssaultAtSpringValleyHigh and the internet is pissed.

Officer Fields is now under investigation and both the ACLU and the Richland Two Black Parents Association have gone on the record as calling it “egregious” and unacceptable.

According to students (who were obviously always going to side with the high school girl), she was being disruptive. When the student refused to leave the classroom, that’s when Officer Fields was called in.

Now before we go and hunt every police officer in the school system, please remember that there are a good number of officers who both like their job and do a fantastic job of restraining themselves. Officer Fields is just not one of those men.

Take a look at this one officer who intentionally keeps his hands to himself while waiting for backup. It’s just sad that we only talk about the bad people, not the good ones.

More than 60,000 students from Ohio State University woke to a terrifying mass email this morning asking them to be “be observant and aware,” after school officials found an anonymous violent threat against the campus online.

“OSU Police are working alongside law enforcement partners to investigate the threat and take all appropriate measures to keep the campus safe,” the email stated, noting only that the threat “was posted online.”

All campuses remain open today and are operating as usual despite the posting. While exact details of the threat were not given, school officials did acknowledge that something was going on on their Twitter page.

UPDATE: several tweeters have apparently found the online threat on OtherSpace – a text-based online storytelling game – written in Esperanto (a language that is not specific to any particular country or ethnic group):

A similar threat occurred in 2011 from Jonathan M. Birkemeyer, a 24-year-old Criminology major who emailed the FBI saying nine bombs were placed in four buildings on campus and they were set to go off at 9 a.m. that day. No suspicious packages or devices were found, and the buildings were reopened that evening. Apparently Birkemeyer made the false threat in order to skip a class he had an exam in.

Rumors that an arrest was made on the campus oval are also false, according to the OSU police Twitter account:

Students have taken to social media to react and express their frustration with how administrators are dealing with the situation. Most believe they weren’t given enough information despite the fact that the threat could jeopardize their livelihood:

In order to watch the game tonight on VR, you’ll need to own a Samsung GearVR. Google Cardboard will not work.

The 2015 World Series begins tomorrow night, where The Kansas City Royals, who knocked off the Toronto Blue Jays in six games, will meet the National League champion New York Mets, who swept the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS.

For the Royals, it’s a quick return to the World Series after falling in seven games to the San Francisco Giants last season. Prior to that, the Royals had not appeared in a World Series since 1985. Overall, this will be their fourth World Series appearance, with their lone championship coming in 1985. For the Mets, this will be their fourth World Series appearance and their first since 2000. They have won it twice, in 1969 and 1986. This is first time a World Series didn’t include at least one team that existed in 1903, which is the first year the World Series was played.

A study composed the University of Michigan suddenly went viral after it apparently denounced cheese as being highly addictive, and eating it is pretty much the equivalent of smoking crack. First bacon, red meat, and basically everything else good in our life, and now cheese?! IT’S BECOMING BLASPHEMOUS!

Luckily, we’re here to tell you that these scientist fools and everyone paying into the hype is straight-up wrong.

The University of Michigan study began by asking two different groups of people to rank a list of 35 foods from least to most addictive. Food products like pizza, chocolate, and potato chips were found towards the top of the list, as expected by anyone with a pulse.

UMich researchers hypothesized that highly processed foods with added fats and refined sugars are most likely to feel like addictive products – not that they actually are addictive. 

After headlines like “Cheese is Just Like Smoking Crack” started circulating around the Internet, the researchers came forward and pointed out that their study actually found the direct opposite: people struggle to control their intake of processed foods – which includes chocolate and potato chips – not just cheese.

“Our study found that people reported cheese … as less problematic than highly processed foods that contained added fat and high [glycemic load],” lead researcher Erica Orenstein told The Huffington Post. “Thus, the bounds of our data suggest that highly processed foods are most implicated in addictive-like eating.”

So excuse me while I grab my life by the horns and continue on with my daily intake of cheese. If I can’t have bacon OR a cheeseburger, there’s just no point in actually living.

Transgender model Loiza Lamers won Holland’s Next Top Model last night and 643,000 people tuned in to witness it.

The 20-year-old model is the first Transgendered woman to win the reigning Next Top Model title and she’s kind of surprised about it.

“When I announced that I was born a boy, I knew I would face attention”, she said according to AD. “Luckily I received nothing but nice and sweet reactions to my participation from people. And anyone who took offense just walked circles around me.”

Cara Delevingne, who famously quit modeling in pursuit of acting,  more or less came out of no where the past year two years. She’s friend with the Jenner twins, she was super model for some heavy hitters like Burberry and Dolce and Gabbana, and now she’s just decided to start starring in movies, with this past years chick flick Paper Towns, and the upcoming outrageously epic Suicide Squad . Hunter King stars on the new show Life in Pieces where she plays Clementine, an attractive, hot older teenager who quickly becomes the love interest of three different generations of men. As you’ll see in the trailer below, her chest literally turns people into goo.

Hunter’s no rookie when it comes to stardom, though. She got her first start all the way back AI (Artificial Intelligence) and then moved into the soap opera Days of Our Lives. Truthfully we’re not sure how long Life in Pieces will last, but we’re really hoping that Hunter can use it as a vehicle to get more work.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is the presidential candidate that took Democrats by storm this summer, and even produced one of the most-interesting Twitter trends politics has ever seen. His ultra-left-leaning, Democratic Socialist policies, combined with his no-nonsense attitude made him the ideal candidate to catch fire this summer, and give Hillary Clinton her first real taste of campaign competition.

While Sen. Sanders has a long history of working to break up the “big banks,” his policies expand far beyond that front. His efforts on a multitude of platforms, such as equality for women, LGBT equality, and ensuring that social security nets exist for future generations, make him one of the most-impressive candidates on the Democratic primary ballot this cycle.

Tuition Cost & Student Debt

Tuition cost and student debt have become a trillion dollar crisis in the U.S. While most people can’t argue with the sensical observation that higher education in the U.S. has become increasingly unaffordable for the “working class family,” Sanders is really hitting this issue hard.

He suggests that “big banks” should foot the bill when it comes to educating the country’s young adults. However, he believes that this could be achieved through making public universities throughout the U.S. tuition free. He also believes that reducing and capping interest rates on student loans would go a long way to easing the burden on those who have already incurred an average of more than $30,000 in student loan debt by the time they graduate.

Jobs

The debate around employment in the U.S. is one that has really captured a lot of attention, and millennials are a big part of the reason why. Recent studies have shown that more than 70% of recent graduates in the last several years remain unemployed, or underemployed in a best-case-scenario. This has especially been made an issue as some communities see minorities hardest hit by unemployment, where minority millennials see unemployment rates of 50% or more.

Sen. Sanders openly stated that the televised unemployment figures are significantly lower than what they are in reality. He is an open supporter of a “living wage” and has made “creating decent paying jobs,” a major part of his overall platform heading into the 2016 election.

Health Care

The Affordable Care Act was the first staple in really highlighting the need for health care among college students. The ACA – better known as Obamacare – first ensured that employer health care would cover dependents until the age of 26, but for recent graduates — or those still looking for that job with all the benefits — health care is a serious issue in every election.

Sen. Sanders believes in a universal system, like that seen in some European countries. While opponents of his have blasted this concept, it’s hard to argue with the fact that there are a multitude of people who believe a single-payer system could work. Sanders also believes that expanding social security nets, like Medicade and Medicare, are crucial to the future health of our country.

Women’s Rights

Women’s rights have become a serious talking point in this election cycle among virtually every age group, especially with the current media attention circling Planned Parenthood. That being said, it’s an especially important issue among college students as sexual assault has become an increasingly popular talking point on campus.

Sen. Sanders’ public opinion on women’s rights stem all the way back to 2012, when he did an op-ed with the Huffington Post stating that, “We are not returning to the days of back-room abortions, when countless women died or were maimed. The decision about abortion must remain a decision for the woman, her family, and physician to make, not the government.” He is also a frequent speaker at events setup by women’s advocacy groups.

Gun Control

Gun control has become one of the biggest issues within American politics. For college students though, gun control has become even more important, as several recent tragedies have ended with too many fatalities on campus. While the methods to deal with our growing gun problem range, every candidate has a stance on this very polarizing subject.

As for Sen. Sanders gun control has become a mixed bag. He was questioned at the CNN debate on his policy, which protected gun manufacturers from lawsuits. However, he clarified his point by saying, “where you have manufacturers and where you have gun shops knowingly giving guns to criminals or aiding and abetting that, of course we should take action.” Essentially the only manufacturers or gun stores that would face legal action under Sanders, would be those selling guns illegally to these individuals.

Marijuana Legalization

Legalizing marijuana is definitely one of the issues that has lost a little steam as it’s become more mainstream. While it was a hot-button issue last cycle, this time, as more states have jumped on-board, the focus has moved toward ending the proverbial “War on Drugs.”

To this end, Sen. Sanders said recently in an interview that, “we have large numbers of lives that have been destroyed because of this war on drugs, and because people were caught smoking marijuana and so forth. I think we have got to end the war on drugs.” His message is one that definitely aligns with his party, but ironically enough differs slightly when held against his Democratic opponents.

LGBTQ Equality

Gay marriage was without hesitation a positive step in this direction. However, the fight definitely has not stopped there, as some individual counties have found themselves in the mainstream media for their failure to follow newly created national standards.

Sen. Sanders has pointed out on multiple occasions that he wants to end “discrimination at all levels.” Whether it’s workplace equality, equality in medical care, or a multitude of other spaces, the choice is really simple in his estimation; Ending discrimination against any group, especially minority groups, must end immediately.

Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, which means you will need to turn your clocks back an hour before you go to bed Saturday night Oct. 31. The annual tradition signals the official start of shorter days and, on Nov. 1, sunset will be around 5:08 p.m. CST. The days will get shorter from there.

Daylight Savings facts & annual time/clock change:

• Benjamin Franklin started Daylight Savings. In his essay entitled “An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light”, Franklin suggested “people could save candles by getting up earlier and making better use of available light”. In 1907, William Willett championed the idea.  It was brought to the United States by way of a businessman from Pittsburgh named Robert Garland, a who first came upon the idea while in England.
• DST started when “war time” was established in the U.S. in 1918 to save fuel during World War I.
• In 1999, the time change disrupted terrorist plans for a bombing in Israel.The West Bank was on Daylight Saving Time while Israel had just switched back to standard time. The time change confused the terrorists. The bombs were planted, but detonated an hour early, killing three terrorists.
• On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act on that day, setting the official end time for DST as the first Sunday in November. From 1986-2006, Daylight Saving Time began on the first Sunday in April and ended on the last Sunday in October.
• In Antarctica, there is no daylight in the winter and months of 24-hour daylight in the summer.
• To keep to their published timetables, trains cannot leave a station before the scheduled time. So, when the clocks fall back one hour in October, all Amtrak trains in the U.S. that are running on time stop at 2:00 a.m. and wait one hour before resuming. Overnight passengers are often surprised to find their train at a dead stop and their travel time an hour longer than expected. At the spring Daylight Saving Time change, trains instantaneously become an hour behind schedule at 2:00 a.m., but they just keep going and do their best to make up the time.
• Hawaii and Arizona do not participate in Daylight Savings. In a virtually unanimous vote, Arizona legislators agreed to opt out of daylight-saving time in 1967.
• In the spring, that hour of lost sleep due to the Daylight Saving switch has been linked to an increased risk of heart attacks. On the other hand, the risk of heart attacks fell by 21 percent later in the year when an hour was added back to the clock.
• Daylight Savings is at 2 a.m. because according to Live Science, that’s considered to be the least disruptive time of day.
• 27 percent of Americans said the time changes either makes them early or late for an appointment.

The 2015 World Series begins tonight, where The Kansas City Royals, who knocked off the Toronto Blue Jays in six games, will meet the National League champion New York Mets, who swept the Chicago Cubs in the NLCS.

For the Royals, it’s a quick return to the World Series after falling in seven games to the San Francisco Giants last season. Prior to that, the Royals had not appeared in a World Series since 1985. Overall, this will be their fourth World Series appearance, with their lone championship coming in 1985. For the Mets, this will be their fourth World Series appearance and their first since 2000. They have won it twice, in 1969 and 1986.

This is first time a World Series didn’t include at least one team that existed in 1903, which is the first year the World Series was played.

The Mets’ Matt Harvey (13-8, 2.71 ERA)  takes the hill against the Royals’ Edinson Volquez (13-9, 3.55 ERA).

The past two years of Texas A&M Aggies football have started off hotter than Kate Upton jumping up and down. Last year with Kenny Hill we thought we were unstoppable. Everything was looking up and life was good. Then Mississippi State happened and Kenny Hill went from the best to the worst. Then the offseason hits, Kevin Sumlin has brought in one of the best recruiting classes in the nation staring Kyler Murray and Daylon Mack plus more, and also John Chavis from LSU to strengthen that defense. Spring Practice was awesome and everyone truly believed around here that this was THE team. They hit it hard starting out 5-0. Everyone was all aboard the train and things were great. Then Bama happened. A total of 4 interceptions, three of which from Allen that ended up in a touchdown…. Awful.

I truly expected a better result than what happened at Kyle Field against Alabama. We had two weeks to prepare, and it was just atrocious at how bad it was. Hoping for a solid rebound against Ole Miss (who previously lost to Memphis the week before) we still had hope. We win out and beat LSU things are looking good for the Aggies. Kyle Allen wasn’t on the same page I guess. I really don’t know. I do know that something wasn’t clicking and he looked like he’d been beat way before he even threw the ball. From the second offensive play TAMU ran when Allen missed a wide open Ricky Seals Jones which more than likely would’ve been a TD, I knew things were about to go down hill real quick, and I was correct. The next 20 passes thrown only two were completed. Even worse, he was just left in to soak in his terribleness. It wasn’t until the middle of the 4th quarter that Sumlin put in Jake Hubenak, the 3rd string QB.

The big question around town after the game is why not put in Kyler Sumlin? Rumor has it after the pick he threw in the Bama game he came back f-bombing Jake Spavital, our offensive coordinator… I don’t know and I’m not one to speculate into hearsay, but I will say if Spav calls one more 3rd and 7 bubble screen I will lose my mind.

Regardless on the quarterback situation, we are facing some real problems with TAMU football. Besides safety, Armani Watts- that dude went balls to the walls Saturday. That man had 20 tackles, 16 for loss, two tackles behind the line of scrimmage, and one interception.

Regardless, the season went from enthusiastic to panic real quick. I still have hope for the Aggies, but only time will tell. I just can’t go through anymore-mid season collapses before I become sports depressed. Figure it out boys.

According to TMZ Sports who asked UCLA’s Associate Media Director, Ricardo Vazquez, for a comment, “Furnishings which are not officially designated as part of a residential room’s accessories may not be moved into any resident’s room at any time.”

The model turned actress is dressed as Enchantress on the mag’s latest issue, donning a BDSM-esque bikini/chain get-up and makeup reminiscent of that terrifying chick from The Ring.

The character – which she will play in the upcoming film Suicide Squad – looks absolutely terrifying. But let’s be real – a chance with Cara Delevingne is never something to pass up, even if she kinda looks like a corpse at the time of opportunity.
